Parked for free on the side of the road about 17 miles south of Alliance Nebraska on US 385. Laughing at the fact that the Cop sitting there was still managing to give out speeding tickets while parked at our spot even with the traffic.
I drove up yesterday and slept in the back of my Jeep in Sidney last night.
I walked Cabelas around the same time probably passed you in the aisles, even told a balding guy in shorts pushing a shopping cart around with a bunch of magazines that it "Looked like a Colorado shopping cart". On the way back down to Sidney I stopped at the gun store in Bridgeport they had a couple of Springfield Garands and a Winchester 1906 that intrigued me.
I filmed it getting dark when the total eclipse hit, but with the camera sensor on my phone has good low light sensitivity so you really do not get a sense of how dark it got. look at how bright it was at beginning of video (already significantly darker than normal) and then fast forward to about 1:40 and watch to end. The Moons shadow is only about 40 miles wide so the horizon still had some light to it.

We hung around my friends house in Guernsey this afternoon and rolled back via Scottsbluff, Kimball and Ft Morgan. I will take driving further at proper speed over a 100 mile traffic jam on I-25 or US-85 any day.
And none of you bastards showed up.....nice.
Same here. "Okay", is being generous. We stood outside and it got......a bit dim. Like a dark cloud passed by. We did the binocular thing and the hole in the cardboard thing and saw the actual crescent. Cool. Didn't see any difference in birds or anything at all. Just got a bit dim is all. We've had thunderstorms that made it darker than that.
What I did think was cool was that at 93%, it was still pretty freaking bright - with just 7% sunlight. Go sun!
Edit: We had FoxNews on beforehand showing other parts of the country and stuff, and man, Shepard Smith is such a douchewad. His over-enthusiasm made me want to puke.

Went to get my old welding helmets this morning, could not find them, had at least two. Bought one of those auto darkening ones, have not used it yet to see how well it works, so I KNOW I did not get rid of the old ones yet. Missed out, except for a quick glance.![]()
Just got off of work and I25 through north Denver has a ton of traffic southbound still
After watching one 20+ years ago in Italy, I got to see this one from the store front of the Silverbullet.
Just as last time, an eerie calm, somebody described it as being in the eye of the hurricane.
Kind of a different energy in the air.
Called my wife on the phone and told her to get on the front porch: she did while we were on the phone and was left speechless...she said she had shivers going down her spine, and felt a wave of energy.
I myself felt exhilarated.
The guy I was working with felt it too, described it as a weird air pressure...
Anybody else felt that?
