So I went against my policy of not buying new bikes, but I was directed to a really good local shop, and figured with small businesses being in a pinch right now, I'd make an exception.

Ended up with a 2020 Giant Talon 2 29er, which is enough bike for my current level of experience. It's already tubeless capable, so I'll likely go tubeless at some point, and go a bit wider on the tires, as well as adding a dropper seat post. Other than that, I'll likely upgrade drive train and suspension as it wears out.

On a side note, I was made aware of an awesome mountain bike park called Fantasy Island, that is 1.5 miles from my house, I'm really excited to check that out, but I've also got thousands of acres of state trust land right behind my house to explore, so yeah.
