If I was reduced to fighting with a folder, then I have bigger problems.

I carry a folder for utility purposes. One of my requisites for a folder is one hand opening/closing. Tha't why I like the Benchmade Axis Locks so much. Pull back the lock and flip open/closed. Ergonomics and fact that it holds an edge very well also helps.

If you know even a little bit about the human body (not implying you don't), a good sharp knife can do much more damage than than most handgun calibers at close distance, plus your surroundings may not always be conducive to using a firearm (i.e. crowded area, person in the way of your backstop, etc.). Besides, a backup plan is always nice to have.

Rgr that, there are about 5 places on your body (depending on body mass/size/etc) where one clean stab would end the fight whereas a clean shot at extrmemely close range can miss vitals by mere milimeters and make a clean hole where the wound is cauterized or non-life threatening and the fight could continue without the person realizing they've even been shot due to an adrenaline dump.
