Yes, and I've long wondered about the effect of compression on snow measures. I think the weather service is primarily interested in measuring column inches of water. Recently, they have revised snow collection methods to shorten the time between clearing the snow level in collection devices. This is to take additional snow level measures in order to better reflect actual snowfall amounts, separate from water precipitation levels.

We got another 8 inches or so at the shop in Golden between 1430 yesterday and this morning. Between melting and compaction, I'd guess somewhere between 22 and 24 inches of actual snow. It was over the top of the opening on the big snowblower @ 17+ inches.

Actually, you guys are full of it! Nice stock pictures taken from the internet. Climate change experts told me that such storms will never happen in Colorado ever again! Fake news! Fake news!

I did cleaned up the drive way today - mostly - I figure at least 12 - 16" of snow - and before that about 1/2" of rain.
I move the truck to full sun so the bed which is full of snow can melt a bit.

I had a package leave last night from Henderson Co that never arrived / unpacked in the Springs....
I guess that solid liquid sunshine got in its way....

I may be off a little, but as this is mid-March, I reckon this will be news again in 4-6 weeks and 4000 feet lower in elevation.

Maybe 14-16", heavy stuff. Take it easy out there! As usual, nice weather the day after tree breaking March weather in Colorado.
