Watched the first 3 shows of Wheel of Time....odd show casting esp with the Aiel / Tinkers - sort of - well; too early in the series to tell.
I did remember one small part of the story that was modified - but my guess it was done for time versus anything else.
I watched the first three episodes, never read the books. Witches, magic, evil, creatures.... no clear direction yet.

Anyone watching the Netflix live action Cowboy Bebop? I just finished the first episode and I'm hopeful.
I've had a few drinks tonight though, which makes me MUCH more forgiving of sloppy entertainment.
Didn't see it mentioned,
Hap and Leonard.
Something to pass the time, 3 seasons. Got through the 1st trying to fend off the turkey.
'News of the World' with Tom Hanks. Good story set in post Civil War Texas.

If you know and love the original, just don't even watch it ... its a horrible abomination of cultural vandalism that should be responded to with burnings at the stake. If you don't know and love the original you'll just find it dumb and silly. But if like me you are a huge fan of the original, you may be thrown into fits of apoplectic rage.
One spoiler to make the case: Faye is a lesbian. Don't get me started on what they did to Vicious ... they turned him into Lord Farquaad (only dumber).
The one tiny bright spot is the black kid that plays Jet does a real good job (considering the crap script he was handed) He seems to be the only person involved in the production that even watched the original. That and the Corgi they got to play Ein did a serviceable job.
The writers should have their fingers broken.
Netflix, "Hellbound". Korean series, dubbed. Plot: supernatural creatures are killing people, thought to be sinners. It's an interesting plot, I like the idea. Execution is bad, dubbing is awful, poor acting, slow, not a great script. If it were developed in a different manner it might be interesting. I'm fast forwarding through a lot of it, hoping to avoid the fud. Recommendation: AVOID.
Netflix, "Lost in Space" season-3, coming out Wednesday.
Not sure who, if anyone mentioned lipstick milkshake
But if you haven't watched it.
SPOILER ALERT
DON'T !
If you mean "Gunpowder Milkshake" I completely agree. That movie was stupid.
Lasers cut through them like butter. Even fast moving projectiles would impart enough momentum to break their bones, like a kevlar vest. Blow darts would work. Sling shots. Energy beams.....
Dune canon is that if you use a weapon like a laser gun or regular gun, it causes a reaction with the shield that's the equivalent of lighting off a small nuke, killing everyone.
Hence the use of swords.
Saw the new Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie in IMAX.
Easily an 8/10, solidly enjoyable movie with some good jokes and a touching tribute to Harold Ramis.
This one completely ignores the flaccid attempt of a reboot back in 2016 and is a direct sequel to the first two movies.

Have only watched the first episode, but Apple TV's "Foundation" series (based on the Asimov novels) looks promising.
Only propaganda like bits I've noticed so far is the multi-culti cast (which frankly doesn't bother me and so-far hasn't been overtly anti-white) and the whole "IFL Science" vibe (which existed in the novels as well ... the whole "The Atheist religion of Scientism will save us from the stupidity of theistic religion and the Machiavellianism of The State" bushwa ... but like I said, Asimov baked that in to the story before I was born, so it doesn't really bother me either).

Yeah. The entire premise for Gunpowder Milkshake was basically "WHAT IF JOHN WICK WAS A WOKE WOMAN?! ZOMG! YASSS QUEEEEEEN SLAAAAY!"
Somehow the script writing (which was literally just John Wick with the serial numbers filed off) managed to be lazier than the gun handling. The only thing it had going for it was the cinematography used the retro-80s color scheme that's in vogue now.
Netflix, "Red Notice". The Rock, Gal Gadot, Ryan Reynolds. Thieves trying to steal/recover antiquities. Multiple threads, double crosses, lots of action. Entertaining, though mostly far-fetched.
I watched part of this.
It's clear that whoever wrote that movie lifted most of their character traits, settings, and the like straight from the Uncharted video game series.
I swear, half of the shit netflix makes is just generated by a semi-literate algorithm that's programmed to comb IMDB for whatever's popular and spit out a cast and basic plot line.

I'm most of the way through Foundation (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0804484/) and it's been excellent. I can see the bits they've changed to be "woke" (mostly by changing white male characters from the novels into women of color) but it hasn't been obnoxious (like this sort of thing usually is) and it hasn't detracted from the story one bit.
Frankly some of the stuff they've added (like the cloned Emperors) has enriched the story.
Anyway, highly recommend for fans of high concept sci-fi.
Great special effects, and it has been long enough that I have forgotten the book(s).
I'm loving it so far.

Watched it also. Terrible movie, is being kind. For some reason all i could think of was. Reeves and Moss had been locked in to some contractual agreement, as part of the matrix trilogy movie deal.
SPOILER ALERT
Read on line, it had a great soundtrack. The only redeeming part of this bomb was the Airplanes, White Rabbit remix. After that it was silence, music wise. Think they should have done that with the entire movie.

^ I wasn't impressed either. Streaming saves the money that would have been wasted.
Wow. Watched The Matrix Resurrections in the home theater and I was really impressed. If you had asked me a couple of weeks ago if it was possible for the creators of the trilogy to make a 4th movie that devalued the original trilogy, I wouldn't think it possible. Boy, I was way off. Not only did they make a hot mess of a sequel to a known franchise, they did so at the expense of the original works. I think folks that have any appreciation for the original trilogy should avoid this like the plague. Keep your fond memories intact.
Netflix, 'Oldboy'. Josh Brolin, Sam Jackson. Man kidnapped and held prisoner for unknown reasons. Very different plot, twists and turns. Good movie.
I was Luke warm on squid games by the end but the beginning had me hooked, worth the time overall I thought.
Speaking of S. Korean shows I can’t wait for season 3 of The Kingdom. I know zombies are a bit pass? but the overlapping plots are woven together well and it won awards for the accuracy of the medieval sets.
Finally Always Sunny i love, but in its final season which makes me sad.

We've been enjoying Shooter, about a Marine sniper who's framed for an attempted assassination on the president. Political intrigue and plenty of gunfire. Pretty good even though it keeps going on and on and on.
Have also been enjoying Virgin River. Life and times of people in a small town, filmed in British Columbia. One of the protagonists is ex-military squad leader continuing to work with his team.

I’m just going to come clean and admit I’ve been curling for near a decade now. With that admission, I’ve been impressed with the mixed doubles teams this Olympic season. It’s not a series, granted, but I paid the $5 for a peacock subscription to see it.
This has probably been discussed already, but my wife and I really enjoyed the first two seasons of Star Trek Discovery. Even discounting the full SJW swing in season 3, season 3 just wasn’t entertaining. We’d pretty well given up before they went full SJW anyway, it was just the cherry on top of a turd. Seasons 1 and 2 are worth a watch.
I am surprised they still do the mailing thing. That is amazing (not in a bad way) and brings back some nostalgia.

Binge watched in in a 2 evening sitting. The guy who plays Reacher, also was in Titans (a dc) series on hbo? or other pay channel. He (Alan) said he bulked up for the reacher character. Which is impressive as he was a pretty healthy looking guy in titans.
A coworker clued me in that anyone with Comcast/xfinity internet only, can get a free flex box and access to the peacock network. It has some limited commercials unfortunately, but I'd been wanting to check out Yellowstone. It turns out you don't even need the box if you can DL the peacock app on you TV or phone, etc.
Amazon Fire TV devices have Peacock Network available. They also have the Xfinity Stream app, which is how I get Xfinity programming to my TVs (including DVR recordings) without paying for more than a single cable box.
Never saw this coming. [Coffee]

I don't care a lot for Adam Sandler as an actor, but he's OK. I really don't care for basketball.
But, I watched "Hustle" on Netflix. Sandler is an NBA scout and recruits a street hustler player from Spain (Juancho Hernangomez) against the wishes of team management. Very good, entertaining movie. Yeah... We have one more episode left. Not too bad. Few nitpicky things, a little over the top in a few places, but overall not bad. The flashbacks are a little tiresome.
The one part I thought was hilarious (no spoiler...) was when they were talking about Reece's decorations and the guy said something like, "Silver Star, several Bronze Stars, (this and that medal)..." And then with a lot of emphasis says, "He even has an Army Commendation Medal with Valor!" Like that's some big deal after listing the Silver and Bronze Stars.
Just finished binging "The Terminal List" last night-that's what vacation is for, right? lol I mostly enjoyed it, I agree with BG above on the flashback scenes. Yes, there will always be little things that bug me about any film-or book for that matter. I read the book when it first came out, remembered most of it and felt this series did good by it. It probably helped that Jack Carr was the executive producer-not uncommon in Hollyweird-so I'd guess he did have some input on how it went. He also had a brief cameo in it too.
Now I have to wait for the further episodes of "The Old Man", "Dark Winds"-which I can heavily relate to from my time in Arizona and dealing with a couple of different tribes and "Joe Picket" which isn't great but I enjoy it.

Caught the 1949 version of the "The Fountainhead" with Gary Cooper on AMC.
My favorite example of Individualism vs Collectivism. Very influential when I first read it as an early teen in 1981.
Netflix: The Gray Man. IMHO, tiny bit over the top at times, but otherwise nicely done fight scenes and pure entertainment.

Just finished, entertaining. Though one thing made me laugh. He's in Bangkok and needs to get to Chang Mai, so he jumps on a tuk-tuk. It's over 400-miles.

I certainly don't know this, but I thought they emphasized that since he was in the Navy.

It did well to portray Ayn Rand's philosophy.

Been watching Ray for quite some time. I sometimes get frustrated by his approaches, but sometimes he tries something that I wouldn't do and is successfull at it. Either way, he seems like an honest guy.

Non-spoiler synopsis: Another genetic mutant super-human movie. In this case, the super-human has gone into hiding by blending in to society for the last 20-25 years but fate draws him back out into the open.
Like most Stallone movies, the ploy is interesting enough to keep you engaged and there's plenty of action. I enjoyed this movie.

Prime: Guilt
2 seasons, based on Scotland (but with accents that aren't so thick you can't understand a word). Alternates between funny and suspenseful, could be classified as "dark humor". It's possible season one might drop from prime soon.
Began watching the new Netflix series Extraordinary Attorney Woo. Woo Young-woo is an autistic Korean girl with a photographic memory who memorizes law books as a child, then becomes an effective trial attorney. It's funny and charming. The series released in August 2022 and there are 16 episodes out. Produced in Korean language but the English version is excellent.

I'll give it a +1.
The new Pinocchio movie directed by Guillermo del Toro is fantastic. It takes place in pre-WW2 Italy and even has a guest appearance of Mussolini!
It is not computer-generated animation but stop motion like Gumby and Ray Harryhausen, only WAY more complicated.
There is also a film showing how they filmed it. Amazing!

Not a series, but a YouTube channel I learned about on Joe Rogan a few weeks ago-- "Soft White Underbelly."
The guy that runs it (Mark Laita) was a pro photographer, and started taking photos of disadvantaged members of society. After a time, he began interviewing them. It's no all bad guys, but there are gang members, drug addicts, sex addicts, hookers (and escorts), dancers, mafiosi, good and bad cops, moonshiners, etc. If there's a segment of society you've spent your life avoiding, chances are there is someone from that group interviewed on this channel. The content is compelling. There are thousands of vids.
The most famous series of videos is about the Whitaker Family, an inbred family in West Virginia. Those vids alone are worth the price of admission
I love documentaries like this, no matter how much it seems bad for society.
It amazes me how many (normal) people are in situations like this.

A must see for any space geek. Incredible footage and great stories from astronauts.
Mark Kelly relates the traditions that astronauts follow when they launch from Russia. including stopping the bus as its headed to the launch tower, at the same spot where Yuri Gagarin stopped, and getting out to pee on the tire, just like Gagarin did before his flight. Soooo, Netflix.
Last week Netflix announced new rules for accounts. While I guess I can understand the whole "password sharing" limitation, word is this might also effect those accessing their Netflix accounts while traveling/not at home (viewing on your phone might be effected too).
I have had periods where I don't watch Netflix for more than 2 months at a time. With the new rules you'll be required to log into your Netflix account at least once every 30 days from your home "device" (what if you choose to watch it on the TV in your bedroom where your normal "device" is the TV in your living room?). If you fail to log in at least once every 30 days your account will get disabled. Wait, what? So you still have to pay for a service they've decided to disable? Yep. I haven't heard any details on what you have to do to get it re-enabled, but it will surely be a hassle and one has to wonder if there will be a fee to get it re-enabled.
Anyone else considering dropping Netflix?

NF dropped an OOPS. where the internet ran with it being worldwide. But according to NF it's only happening in S/ America. FYI. IF they do here what they're starting in S/A it's an easy work around. They'll text you a pass code to enter. So you just have to pass that on to whoever is using you're spare tv, while visiting.

I?m enjoying it. Not exactly your typical zombie show. Seems a little more about the people and survival than the monsters. Not overly stoked that they have to stick homosexuality in it like most everything rolling out of Hollywood these days but whatever.
Not worth it in my opinion. Too slow. Every time I get into the plot they hit you with an episode of random back story that is boring and adds little value to the main story or the character quality. Action is far and few. It?s like walking dead with mushrooms. And in my opinion: anytime the director or writers have to explain the story of the episode to you, and tell you why it?s important they failed to do a good job of storytelling.

They've just confirmed there will be a 10-episode Season 2. Like Season 1, they plan to leave no cliff-hangers and wrap up the mission/drama by the end of the season. They'll be bringing back "a limited number of characters from Season 1".

"Freud", a limited series on Netflix.
English dubbing, extremely weird, disjointed, graphic, disturbing, bizarre.
It was awful. You have been warned.
Unfrosted, new on Netflix. Jerry Seinfeld spoof on the history of Pop-Tarts. Very funny, the Tony the Tiger 'mascot strike' on Kellog's headquarters is genius!

Fallout on Amazon Prime. I've been a huge fan of the games for years, and they did a great job following the lore and capturing the feel of that world.
"Killing Eve" on Netflix. Sandra Oh is great as an agent tracking down an assassin. Very entertaining.

How many times will I have to press the skip ahead button to get past that insufferable C* Schumer?
"ATLAS", Netflix, starring Jennifer Lopez. The concept and special effects are good. That's about all. The story line, acting, etc. are awful. Terrible. Painful. I had to fast forward through several overly dramatic and drawn out segments. Wasted time.

A lot. She was in one of the lead roles. She's so gross. The rest of the movie was pretty bad too, I almost didn't make it through the whole thing.
The completely unveiled shot at Jan 6 and the whole underlying theme of the feckless 2 party system wasn't lost on me either.

“ The Food That Built America “ on The History Channel.
Fascinating collection of documentaries that highlights the development of brands and types of food and the businessmen that brought them to market. Learned something new from every episode.
Just started Parish. New Orleans mobs. So far so good.

One of my favorite scenes, woman being treated by a medical robot.
Woman, "I thought this was a place where I was going to be assaulted."
Robot, "No, nothing that disgusting. We're just going to harvest your organs."

Try AMC.
Thanks. I'll pass, as little as we watch tv. It would be another app that we pay for and don't watch.
The remake of Dune and Dune 2 is surprisingly good. CGI makes it come to life.
'Tread' on Netflix, (it happened 20 years ago next week). Armored dozer in Granby, Colorado. Great documentary.
what's it on?
We watched it on Amazon Prime.

About half way thru season two of Mayor of Kingstown.
We like Jeremy Renner, decent series if can tolerate extreme swearing and violence.

Peaky Blinders on Netflix
Brilliant acting and great script.
Dark Wind. Set on a Navajo res, in the '70s. Based on Tony Hillerman's books.
Warrior. San Fran asian gangs at the turn of the century.
Both on Netflix.

Both on Netflix.Dark Wind was pretty good. The Rez cop's truck stole the show, though, IMO.
Great period vehicles all around.

And, if memory serves, the Rez cop was a thug in Red Dirt, which also had early work of Jason Mamoa. A Canadian show I think.

Dark Wind sounds interesting, any similarities to Tyler Sheridans Wind River, Hell or High Water?

Zahn McClarnon was in Longmire . Were you thinking of Frontier, that's one of the early ones momoa was in. IIRC the one you're thinking of is The Red Road, which Zahn was in.

It was probably a red dirt road anyway... lol
I never got around to watching any of Frontier.

The GMC “Suburban” was a nice truck. The Sheriff’s Scout was a painted up rust bucket. Interesting to see the steering wheels.

Is there a Scout or Scout II that isn't a rust bucket?
