I considered that, but I think that I would rather just move where they decide to move. Texas or Wyoming maybe? I am betting on Texas.
Texas will switch from red to blue, if they make citizens out of the illegals there.

Wyoming is looking better all the time. My family settled here almost 150 years ago and I'm seriously considering being the first one to leave.

Sure I theoretically mention the DHS outside my house and I'm "crazy" and "stealing Jim's medication". :)
I guess the one positive thing today...my Brownells pmag order shipped.
I'm so goddamn sick and tired of our false liberty
Thinking DFW or MCO.
AUS would work but flights are shit.
I'm loathe to go anywhere near TX. Although DFW is pretty easy in/out. I'm spoiled with DIA.
Olando, oh fuck. More humidity than anyone can stand.
Austin IS too weird for me ;-)
UA is my primary carrier and probably sucks the least out of them all.

I agree. I intend to move within 2-3 years. However, it's not just for the false hope that some other state will be laxer on the infringement in perpetuity. I just want cheap land surrounded by wide-open spaces, so that I can live however I damn well please as long as I pay the property taxes. Would accomplish this in CO if there was any real cheap land left in inhabitable areas.

I did catch it, I wish I would have known I had some bretheren there, I woulda bought lunch, hell we could have gone to the Diamond and had a more productive day.
Colorado has created quite the conundrum for themselves with this, they have legalized pot but yet it is a clear conflict with Federal laws. How is that going to play out on a 4473 especially now that they are close to the UBC how will that play out. Plus how is that going to play out for the FFL's. They will be mandated to do a BGC by law. What ever happened to the rights of the business to conduct business with who they choose?
I hope Magpul jacks their prices $5 per mag and dumps the money into getting rid of these stupid fucks.

I was pissed about the Gardner amendment not passing. How can the state mandate the services an FFL provides as part of their business model. There are plenty of FFLs that do private transfers for a fee, and there are some who don't. I thought the whole point of developing a business pertains to delivering services or selling goods of your choosing. What the hell????????????????

Not to mention the fact of now how is the FFL going to handle that, IIRC the only way the FFL can run a 4473 is if the FFL is in the possesion of the firearm and logged into their books as an "aquisition". They then have to log it as a "Disposal" on completion of the transfer. This is Federal law. So now the FFL has to go through the exact same process they do for a normal transfer but instead perform it for the bargain price of $10.00?
Uhmmm, just a guess but I dont see that being popular among FFL's.

Ditto. Really pleased with what Sheriff Smith had to say, but unfortunately it fell on deaf ears. I managed to say a few words on the background check bill (most of the points I had in mind had already been said by others), but didn't get to say anything about the mag cap limit. If I drank, I'd be getting drunk right now. But since I don't, I guess I'll just go shower and try to get this feeling of political filth off of me.
I arrived at the capitol at 0800 and sat through 13 hours of testimony. Total bullshit. The decisions were made before we ever walked in the room. I didn't read all 104 pages of this thread. I'm sure others have covered the highlights of the positive testimony, and there were a ton of good points in our favor on both bills.
Of note, when Kagan was asked point blank if the universal background checks would lead to registration he was speechless. He couldn't answer the question. His lack of answer said it all.
I was the 3rd person to sign up to speak against the mag ban bill. Yet, was never called me to testify. I sat in the front row for the entire 13 hours and towards the end was waving at Kagan to get his attention he looked right at me and then randomly picked people from the audience to testify. All the people he picked were in jeans and tee shirts while I sat in the front row in a suit. An absolute attempt on Kagan's part to make us look bad.
This is only the beginning. There is no question the more liberal members of the house are going to push for more anti-2nd amendment bills.
The political fight of our lives is on!

Just another example of "unintended consequences" that new laws routinely cause. Politicians are generally not the brightest lamps in the shop, and they routinely cause as many, if not more problems with their new laws. Many FFLs who charge the "going rate" of $25 for a transfer will say f*** this and stop doing transfers. Same motivation as increasing taxes on rich people - they fill find ways, as they always do, to not pay more. So are fewer FFLs what they intended?
More and more, we are seeing party line votes on bill after bill, here and nationally. It is becoming more and more clear there is no point arguing with these fools. As Rush Limbaugh says, you can't argue with liberals, you simply must utterly defeat them. If we can't win back legislative majorities in this state, then there is only one option - move. Hoping thats not the case, but maybe just hope.

No Joke. I don't wish to rely on someone else for my protection. Lucky for me, robberies and stabbings are common place at or around the campus that I go to. I don't understand why these fucking morons can't understand that they are only limiting law abiding people. I'm a 30 year old man, not a 18 or 21 year old. Maybe you can record these and sell it as the Tyranny Diet!
When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.
Multiple studies show that CCW holders commit crimes at a rate LOWER than the general population, sometimes even lower than law enforcement personnel.
We're not winning the debate, because facts don't work when they bump up against inflamed emotions. We need to find a way to emotionally connect to people without anger, or risk turning them off.

He was countering those proponents earlier who were saying that students don't have enough training and only police/security should be able to carry on campus. He was essentially asking... would you guys THEN be ok if the students went through similar training that campus security goes through and then allow them to carry in the classroom? Of course they would find a problem with that too... but it was just his backhanded way of showing that those using that argument will NEVER be satisfied with "guns in the classroom" no matter the background or training of the permit holder.

Is there actually a case there? Can you sue either the university or the state for restricting your right to defend yourself?
Is there actually a case there? Can you sue either the university or the state for restricting your right to defend yourself?
He's point was mainly that there is already a provision in the current law to ban carry on college campus, by installing real security like at the capitol and in courthouse. He referred to the new bill as gun-free via the honor system and he finds the honor system doesn't work well with criminals, which is why he has to lock the doors at the jail.
Is there actually a case there? Can you sue either the university or the state for restricting your right to defend yourself?
You SHOULD be able to. I don't know if there is a precedent already set for that. But anyone who takes away a group of people's right and ability to protect themselves should be held accountable for the safety of those individuals. If we haven't had these lawsuits recently with these mass shootings... we should!
Is there actually a case there? Can you sue either the university or the state for restricting your right to defend yourself?
If you don't die in the process

I'm guessing they don't do transcripts of the committee testimonies...
Just as yesterday a few people testified with unproven supposed facts and polls or opinions for the bill and facts and some real life examples and some opinion against the bill. As far as I could tell only committee members against the bill asked people questions about their testimony. The rest were silent until they voted. They finished early with the people speaking for the bill and at the end there was still four pages of people against the bill that they didn't get to.

I specifically looked for transcripts on the House site, and they specifically stated that they don't provide transcripts. I missed Sheriff Smith yesterday and wanted to review his testimony.
The committee chairs want to provide the illusion that they're open-minded, but nothing could be further from the truth. It's all a show to make the subjects believe they have some significance in the outcome.

I really wish my wife and I didnt just close on a new house. I would pack our crap up and leave.
I am not native to colorado, but I respect and understand how the natives are saying transplants are ruining this great state.
My wife and I just signed a contract on a build for a new home. I keep hearing all of my friends in TX saying "just move out here to TX". While enticing... I'm not one to pack up and run when going gets tough. While not a native of CO... I love CO and think it is worth staying and fighting for. I'm not just gonna give it up to the liberals. I'm gonna fight tooth and nail. And while we may not win EVERY battle... my ultimate goal is winning the war and I'm in it to win it!
Am I hearing a lot of "no" votes from the group?

Chris,
I listened to the committee testimony yesterday regarding the campus CCW issue and I appreciate your efforts to fight against the bill. I am a student veteran at university of Colorado Denver and I CCW daily. In fact I am in a computer lab on campus writing this email with my firearm on my hip. Every one of the bills proponents mentioned yesterday that college campuses are so safe, but they failed to mention one important point. I take public transit to and from school every day that I am here. If I cannot carry inside of buildings here, then I also lose the ability to carry to and from campus. I walk about 40 minutes to and from the light rail and my house. On Tuesday and Tuesday I do not start that walk home until 9:00pm as my last class that day is pretty late. I heard many time about how safe college campuses are, but at some point I have to leave campus and get home. I understand that the people for this bill do not vote on common sense, but I wanted to let you know how I felt on this matter. I started carrying after I started attending school here because I received so many emails about robberies on or very near campus.

And literally just go this:
Dear Brian,
Thank you for taking the time to reach out to my office regarding your concerns around possible gun safety legislation. Your input is critical in strengthening our democratic process and in helping me to best represent our district.
In the wake of the recent high profile gun violence that has occurred in Colorado and the nation, it is clear that we must have an ongoing public conversation about gun safety, mental health, and school security. Two gun-related bills were introduced on the first day of the legislative session (Senate Bill 13-009 and House Bill 13-1048), however, at this time, the bills have not been debated. As such, I am still in the process of reviewing the specifics of this proposed legislation and weighing all the options. When the bills go to committee, the public will have the opportunity to come down to the Capitol and testify in committee, if they so wish.
I appreciate your input on firearms-related issues and believe that we need to have a balanced and ongoing public discussion about gun safety to determine the best course of action. Coloradans must collectively find reasonable solutions that protect the Second Amendment rights of our law-abiding citizens, while keeping guns out of the hands of dangerous people and finding a more comprehensive approach to dealing with factors that could contribute to violence, such as mental illness.
I value your opinion and will always consider the input of my district before casting my vote in the Colorado State Senate.
If you have any further concerns, please feel free to contact my office.
Sincerely,
Angela Giron, Senate District 3

http://kitup.military.com/2012/05/army-stands-ban-unathorized-pmags.html
Trying to keep Magpul in state through an exception presents two possible reasonings:
One: I don't care about American citizens in other states.
Two: This bill has nothing to do with keeping people safe.
Could you imagine if Colorado legalized the production of meth so long as you only sold it out of state? Are you fucking kidding me?
But the true reasoning is that the Democrats don't want to have the loss of jobs and economic revenue on their hands. Come reelection time it will be easy to make an ad: "Representative X voted to send hundreds of jobs and millions of dollars in tax revenue out of state."
