I've been using a Merkur 34C since last Christmas. Man what a difference, once I narrowed down which blades were right for me. And cheap... I found 100 blades for $15 on Amazon. I'd recommend trying a product called Cremo Cream, a little more convenient than the lather-and-brush stuff and really a great product.

I ll take a picture of the extra box that we have. It was morning star carbonized if I remember it right. I tried to return few boxes too.. had to argue with the manager of lumber liquidator. They were some scratches and cracks out of the box. At the end, he ended up exchanging them. He did mention they get a lot of complain. I think the drop in price reflects the quality.

picked this up tuesday, it's stupid quiet on my 357 lever. shooting full power loads. 125's sounded like POOF, quieter than a 22 suppressed. Pretty decent on the 19 & 21, liked it on the 10.5 9mm carbine. Now if i can sell some more crap (i mean) treasures. I 'll get something else.

Thanks for the info.
We did some research and reviews, and got what we got. We got the carbonized as well. I cannot stand vertical bamboo, so we got horizontal. Seems like it is really dense, but who knows it is easily scratch-able on a surface.

Get yourself one of those sample packs on Amazon that have a 5 pack from like 10 different manufacturers. Use one for a couple days then switch brands. Growth pattern, hair thickness and stiffness, and skin sensitivity all play a role in what blade is right for you, and the only way to find out it by trial and error.

Decided I was tired of buying disposable razors and cartridges ....

I once used the same Mach3 for two years. Yeah, 24 months. No typo. You don't have to throw them away every time and the same principles apply to the disposables for the most part as do regular straight razors. Use it a few times and when you can feel it start to not cut cleanly simply go opposite direction on the inside of your forearm like 6-7 times and it will be honed back to a near-new edge again. Try it. I was amazed at how well it works. I don't go as long now because after about a year (give or take) I would get an occasional in-grown hair on my neck which I otherwise never get so I shortened my replacement interval. Getting a few months out of a disposable razor blade is pretty easy actually.

Drying them well after use helps extend the blade life.

Razor blades don't dull, as much as oxidize. Store the blade you're using in mineral oil, and they will last longer. (so you 'thoroughly drying" guys are on the right track)

Yeah, I meant to say that but in my haste to try not to turn the 'what you bought today pic thread' into a 'how to make disposable razor blades last forever' thread I forgot to mention that step. I shake it with a full swing (like throwing a baseball fastball) three or four times and then blow it out as best as possible. Maybe a few more shakes and a few more blows. In all it's only a few extra seconds of steps each time I shave but getting a disposable blade to last years is well worth it IMO.

Those look great! I've got BC Racing in mine. ISC has been excellent quality from what I've heard.

I thought my handle could use a bigger latch. That roll pin is non-standard and was difficult to find something strong enough to fit in the smaller than 1/16" hole, but turned out great.

I got several things in this week. Very basic 1-4x Bushnell on a Leupold mount. Charging latch upgrade. Fireclean. Barnes Vor-tx 110 grain 300 AAC BLK. My replacement barrel came in. I ditched my 7.5" upper from Red X Arms because of many reasons, and now have a Daniel Defense 1:8 at 10.3" with a linear comp. My gas tube isn't in, so I haven't installed the new Geisselle Super Gas Block. It'll shoot single shot just fine until then. My order from Thordsen Customs came in, but the side of the box was open and the heavy stuff fell out. A sticker, the invoice and CAA cheek riser survived, but the buffer tube and QD cover did not arrive with it. I have a source to Cerakote the upper, lower, and rail to SOCOM Blue. I can hardly wait to see that!

I had a Bushnell 1-4x cheapo scope, the AR-223 (http://www.bushnell.com/all-products/rifle-scopes/ar-optics/1-4x-24mm). I didn't think going cheap would be that big of a problem for some reason, however the parallax was unreal. My old Nikon 3-9x don't have that huge parallax issue. I still can't believe it isn't broken, so I'm returning it. I don't want to take that chance again so I'm going with a Leupold VX•R Hog 1.25-4x20 (http://www.leupold.com/hunting-shooting/scopes/hog-riflescopes/vx-r-hog-1-25-4x20mm-30mm/) that'll be here this week. FireDot sounds cool.; a red dot setup on a magnified hunting scope. Granted, retail is three times that of the utter crap I'm returning, but I'm becoming a believer in paying properly for your optics.

Yep. Store parking lot and dude just backed right out w/o looking smashed right into me. I saw him coming and tried throwing it into reverse to get out of the way but before I even got into gear he accelerated right into me.

Damn. The mighty taco bumper is pretty worthless.

It's statements like this that make Tacoma owners feel the need to defend their trucks. It's a plastic bumper cover just like every other truck and no other truck made by any other manufacturer would have fared any better in that accident. A vehicle becoming damaged in an accident is not a design flaw unless said vehicle is an M1 tank.

Didn't you see him backing?!

That's my favorite response from dumb people who back into people, or defend others from doing it. I once had a lady get out screaming, "DIDN'T YOU SEE US BACKING OUT?!" and slap the phone out of the hands of the old man they hit. He literally ran away from her into the Kmart to call the police. The backing vehicle always has the greater duty to yield the right of way to other vehicles, in every situation. There is no such thing as common courtesy, or letting someone in, or any of that crap.

Carry on. Don't get your car fixed at Sterling.

The funny part is as I was approaching I saw his truck start coming out (older Ford, not even sure there were reverse lights now that I think back) so I came to a stop. My thought was, he'll see me as soon as he turns to look because I'm in a big brown truck, tough to miss me. It was about the time I formed this thought I realized simultaneously that not only had he not seen me but was now accelerating. My first reaction was to throw it in reverse and get the hell out of the way which I did immediately & w/o thinking really. Before the truck accessed reverse he had accelerated right into me. My reaction time was probably a second or less once I realized he was backing out. He was pretty cool about it and knew he was completely in the wrong but it still doesn't make my truck any less smashed. I try to let people out when I see them even if I don't need the spot if I see them but in this case there wasn't any time. In this case it was him who never even bothered to look and now my truck is jacked up.

I feel like the bumper and fender did what they were designed to do and keep the damage superficial. If I had swapped out the beefy plate bumper I wanted (like the one on my rear) then the energy could have been transferred into my frame or even me. Stuff is designed these days to absorb impact and that's exactly what this stuff did. Looks bad but it's all superficial. I've been considering using the insurance money to get that bumper but I think about something relatively low speed like this and how it was no big deal and how that may be different if I had a stout bumper on instead. Hard to say.

Irving
09-22-2014, 15:53
The best is when you actually get it into reverse, are focused on moving out of the way, and back into the person behind you, and STILL get backed into in the front. Then you're 100% responsible for the person behind you, while the person backing is 100% responsible for your front end damages. I say one damage is better than two. Not a horrible thing that you didn't get it into reverse in time.

Jer

He had an old shitty ford with a Chrome bumper so I doubt it woulda beer canned itself. lol At best we both woulda had frame damage & neck injuries. haha

I thought the same thing after the fact. I don't think anyone was directly behind me but what if someone was, I get it into reverse and rammed into their front end and then dude safely backs out and goes on his way like nothing happened... because to him it didn't. Now I'm left standing explaining why ramming them in reverse wasn't my fault. lol

The good news is the wait has been less lately. Last suppressor (about a month or so ago) took 6mos & the one before that was 8mos. First one took 3mos dealer transfer & second one about half that. Sounds like dealer to dealer is now about a month +/- a week which is good. They doubled the # of examiners last year so approval times are starting to approach reasonable again. Just bought another one a few weeks ago myself so I'll keep you posted. I do mine all personal paper form style.

Yea,

Picked this up outta GA. Nobody local could come within $100 of the deal even factoring the transfer and I got in on the AAC rebate. See, I would pay $100 more to do business local, but that was over 20% of the can and my limit for the good buddy program.

Not sure I understand.

Two local SOT/ClassIII dealers couldn't source the item for anywhere near the (volume) dealer price I found. He said to buy it from them and he'd gladly do the transfer.

Cherokee Pawn in Georgia (found them on theoutdoorstrader.com) has the AAC 556SD in stock for $449 cash price, $20 shipping. AAC $200 web store credit good through Sep 30th.

I got in on that too. I got a Pilot 2 for $260 plus it qualifies for the $200 AAC Damn the Man rebate. No brianer since a quality 22 suppressor will effectively cost me $60 plus transfer.

I don't shop at my LGS's anymore due to suppressor related issues. Had they simply told me that they refused to match or even attempt to come close to the price of a suppressor that would have been one thing. Instead they tried to besmirch the source I was buying suppressors from which happens to be one highest volume dealers in existence now by making some stuff up about their ethics. That I have no tolerance for. Being greedy is one thing but trying to excuse that by soiling someone else's name w/o cause is a deceptive moral practice and I don't do business with people like that. I'm all for capitalism but being shady about it isn't cool. They don't realize that the days of HAVING to have a good standing with your LGS to get good guns & rifles is long past. With all the private party FFLs we don't even need them for transfers anymore. I've run out of reasons to pay a mark-up and watch as newer people to the hobby are ridiculed for their admitted lack of knowledge on the subject so I just give all my money to faceless entities since my LGS doesn't do anything to earn it.

Tim @DangerLeeIndustries

Tim has been nothing but helpful. He's handled transfers for me, sold my trust a nice pistol lower to SBR, and I've had private deals with him in the past that have always been perfect.

Even while I haven't spent a bunch of money with him, he was more than willing doing the transfer on a deal I found that couldn't be matched.

I don't want to speak for him, but I expect as his business grows, he will be able to pass along additional savings on the products he's handling most.

Thanks for the suggestion. There's a thread/section I think where people are suggesting people to use or not use that I suggest you add his info to too. I finally found a guy local to me that not only handles NFA transfers at a reasonable rate but also does coatings. Once I complete a successful transaction with him I will splash his info all over the forum for others who are in the same geographical area as me. As for ICOM... I can't afford that kind of quality! I had to save up my extra pennies and empty brass for a few months to afford this one. [LOL] I got it for $159 on Amazon with free shipping. Got a 12VDC charger for it too so I can keep it charged up while out on the road (or trail).

Tim is GTG, i don't know if going out of his way is how he does business. However he made me a happy camper.

Place a WTBorrow in the trading post or survival forum. Someone has on. That's a nice radio you decided to jump in to the ham radio with. Battery wise, if it last 1/2 as long as the cheap Baofeng i have, it will last a while.

Just one? You put the other one on layaway? Maybe limit your wife's large purchases to one per month & then maybe you could afford to replace both wipers at the same time.

I've since stripped the nasty varnish off the grips, sanded them and rubbed in some tung oil. Much better. Priced at $299, I traded them a S&W Model 49 .38 snubbie for it.

Haha, no problem. I just heard that a company called Quarter Circle 10 is going to start producing these lower again since DDLES is now defunct. I haven't looked for them yet, but that should point you down the right path to find a lower.

They've been doing them for a short time. Their response time / CS is top notch. Had a few ?? the owner replied with plenty of info , and referrals to machinist / smiths who do work on uppers to use glock mags.

How is your RDS attached? I need to attach a RDS to a G17 and am considering options right now. Hoping to find an inexpensive option that's solid.

Well, selling my Lee Pro 1000 on eBay and this arrived for me today. Dillon RL 550B. Will take a bit more assembling, and I need more bolts. I'm set up for 9mm, 10mm, 300 Blackout.

Bert milled the slide drilled and threaded holes for the mounting screws. Screwed it on.

That's what it looked like to me and what I would've guessed since it looked like the factory barrel and the RDS was mount flush to it w/o any adapters or anything. What was the cost?

It's a KKM barrel 40 to 9 conversion.
RMR Was 400 or so and install was 150 I think

New sights for my M&P full size, Ameriglo "i dot", ran a class with them last weekend, they're great! Very fast on target with the bright orange front in good to medium light, easy to line up in low/no light.
