Yup, my biggest complaint, I've ran mud tires that were quieter that the duratracs.

Well comparing the two, the duratracs have a very open lug design which contributes to the road noise. The Ultraterrains have a much tighter tread block so I anticipate it would reduce noise quite a bit.

I’ve ran Atturo Mud terrains before and if you want to talk about noise, it sounded like an 18 wheeler with shitty retreads going down the highway at 90mph. I would pass cars on the highway and scare them from the howling they made. People used to hear them on my Bluetooth going 30mph...

How high do you keep your bucket off the ground so you can cruise at a decent clip?

Normally when driving the tractor you keep the bucket as low as possible...just high enough to avoid any obstacles. I think the top speed of my tractor is like 25 mph and I never drive it that fast.

I was more curious if this is something plan on driving around and making passes around the property to keep stuff at a dull roar, or more for precise detail work?

Bailey Guns
11-01-2018, 20:51
Sorry...it's for lower speed work. Drive it into brush just skimming the ground and it cuts everything (or just pulls it out of the ground) down. It's for heavier stuff that can't be removed with a mower or other type of implement. Mostly it's good for rough clearing of an area...not precise stuff.

I've got a grapple on order for the front, too. That'll come in handy for picking up all the crap you just cut down.

My inlaw was in town and bought this for us. She said it was my b-day present........................................... ...........................
(I would rather have glock42/43 for my bday) :D

Bought it $8 more than amazon/ebay before taxes near Havana and Jewell store.
I really wanted Armenian Voice navigation, but I guess English/Chinese/Korean would do for now.

I’m going to guess that is a 3 screw “Old Model” Blackhawk in 357 made in 1972 with a 4 7/8” barrel. Very nice shape.

I had a P239 and loved it, but wanted night sights and the SRT, so I sold my old one iwth the intention of buying one of the "tactical" 239s (didn't care for the threaded barrel, but eh whatever) that were selling under $600 at the time.

Of course about this time Sig decided to discontinue the 239 entirely, which ruined my plan. Thankfully I was able to snag an old used one again, missed this thing.

First impressions, much smoother and quieter than the Toyo Open Country that were on it when I bought it. There is very little road noise in any. Can’t wait to see how they do this winter.

whose light kit is that for the headlights?

When I bought the Hoe, the factory lights were toast. Both the head lights and bulbs (HID) were purchased on Amazon. Huge improvement over stock and if you adjust/angle your headlights right, you won’t blind on coming traffic.

Edit: Select your bulb and go: https://www.amazon.com/Xenon-Headlight-Optimum-Conversion-Kensun/dp/B00QPH7XJI/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1541741719&sr=1-1-spons&keywords=hid+kit&psc=1

These are $10 a pop at Lowes, normally $25.

https://www.lowes.com/pd/Iris-Iris-Indoor-Door-And-Window-Sensor/1000301569

FWIW, works great with Wink, sensor open/close and temp.

I was having some delays using motion sensors, these are a better solution for turning on those lights when the doors that are always closed (basement, garage) are tripped open.

Going to wireless uplink it for now, so I'll lose some bandwidth, but they're so much faster than consumer stuff, we won't likely notice. With computers, tablets, phones, Firesticks, TV's, misc IOT, etc. the number of clients is growing like crazy here and the new appliances will be "smart" as well. Preheating the oven from the car on the way home will be pretty cool.

Me too!!! [Coffee] Got out this morning for a short ride on my ‘13 RK.

It’s an ‘06 Road King Police bike. Pretty high miles, but it looks like it’s had a rebuild at some point. It’s wearing a 103ci air filter, but this year came with a ‘96ci engine, so I’m skeptical. Seller said that he was told it was bored at rebuild, so who knows. It needs some work, but rode nice today, and I’m excited to be back on a Road King, My first HD was a ‘96 Police (80ci) that did a great job for me. My wife has been crabby at me ever since I sold it 20 years ago, and hasn’t been satisfied with the dozen or so non-HD’s I’ve had in the interim, so we’re both glad we’re back on the bike she met me on. Ray and Doc, maybe we can make a trip north to check in on Carl...

Awesome. My favorite was an 09 RK Police bike. Like an idiot I sold it because Mrs BG didn't like riding on it. She likes the Electra Glide seats and backrest so that's what I bought. Then she stopped riding with me altogether. So I sold that one before the move and just bought my new RK last year. Freakin' awesome with the new M8 motor.

Perhaps should not have bought the extended mount but I need to move the mount back a couple of notches on the upper and re-mount the optic in the base.

It's a fair question. My answers will probably spark plenty of debates.

Right now, SBR's are defined by law, whereas the ability to use a brace as a stock and the fact that an angled foregrip is not a vertical foregrip are just issued determinations. Getting a law changed is harder and a bigger process than issuing a new determination letter. Anything can change at anytime, so all I can do is go by the right now.

I do have a CCW permit already. However, if my world changes to the point where I'm walking around with a Scorpion concealed, then permits and laws will not apply anymore or at least won't be relevant anymore. <g>

Also, I find stocks more enjoyable to shoot with, versus a brace.

But everyone has their own views on what's important, and what's worth spending money on. The amount of money some people spend on their vehicle is insane to me, but is relevant and important to them. The amount of money I have spent on firearms, reloading equipment, and ammunition is insane to my wife. <shrug> I still married her.

CS1983
12-05-2018, 18:04
Interesting perspective. However, the ATF has been clear that use does not constitute redesign. They walked that back originally, but after clarification admitted they were wrong -- and that based on the same laws which affect SBR.

I have chosen to continue the pistol route as I can have a pistol on my dualsport in the woods, on a sling. If it were a legal rifle (whether SBR or not), it must be cased. I can also have it loaded and ready to go in my vehicle.

Makes sense. We all have our own needs and wants for sure. None of those uses apply to me. other than keeping it in my vehicle. I just don't use a rifle for that purpose. From a practical perspective, I don't think my primary weapon vehicle would be a rile anyway. Certainly would be nice to have if I had to get out of the vehicle and carry on a fight. But I think the level of risk tolerance and preparedness we all fell we need is different too.

I SBR'd my scorpion when they first came out. At that time, there were not many options for pistol braces for it so I almost felt like I had no choice. With all the options out there now for braces, I would be hard pressed to do another SBR. The SBA3 and I have a feeling they are only going to keep getting better. Plus if you SBR, you are pretty much married to it the rest of your life which can be good or bad depending on how you view it.

Sell in state with one stamp, or convert to a non SB rifle (just put a rifle lenght barrell on it) to sell, and have it removed from the register. I have the SB brace on it now, and it's okay. Just don't love it. Might change when I lose weight. Might get worse. Will have to see.

I can argue both ways for SBR, but then I realize that I spend $200 on sooooooo many things that don't give me any utility at all compared to what I get with an SBR, so it doesn't matter. Just go with whatever fits your situation at the time. I saw a post on a gun board recently that I felt really nailed most decisions. "You're going to have both in five years anyway, so it doesn't matter as much which you choose today."

Very nice rifle! I really like my M4V11. Very lightweight, and the DD keymod rail is relatively narrow and finished so that it doesn't cut into the hand. I like the DD furniture, especially the hand grip which fits me perfectly. My rifle has been flawless and I try to shoot it every week. I've been switching uppers with a .300 BLK I have but would like to pick up another DD lower.

Reznor.

If your garage isn't insulated I'd suggest starting there. You might be surprised with how well it maintains temperature once you do that.

If it's already insulated then you should be able to get away with a little electric space heater. I have no specific recommendation as the pair I use from time to time are about 30 years old. My guess is there very efficient today though but may not last as long based on current trends of these sorts of appliances. Look into infrared as I think they do quite well based on the limited info I've received.

I have an oversized single car garage and use a regular space heater that seems to do pretty well. I turn it to notch number 2 and it keeps it from getting too chilly in there.

Buy once, cry once. Mini-split. If it's cold in winter, it's usually hot in the summer. Either set it at specific temps, or programmed to come on say 1 hr before you work out there and shuts off after the sun goes down. I kept mine on at specific temps so it didn't run longer to hit that temp in the a.m. Electrical usage was a minimal increase on the utility bill. A straight electric ( those smaller units) runs on either 750 or 1500 watts. That sucks power big time compared to the mini split.

A regular (reznor) style hangs x distance from ceiling and walls. The mini mounts to an outside wall (depending on sq. ft of garage) has a small footprint.

Where the hell are your jack stands ?
There is a recently posted thread a tragic result of working without jack stands, and here you are putting the lower part of your body under a car without some.

Edit: I didn’t see that Crays already berated you.

I put two of these in my shop:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/NewAir-17-060-BTU-5000-Watt-Electric-Garage-Heater-G73/205588544

I did the wiring and install myself. Very easy. I chose to re-wire them using plugs instead of hard-wiring (as you can see in the picture) in case I wanted to move them. They work very well. I'm on my 3rd winter using them. I'll turn them on a little while before I want to go out to the shop and it's warm enough to work comfortably in just a half hour or so. Once I start doing anything I usually shut one off and/or turn them to the lowest setting. My shop is 24x36 with 12' walls and basic, bubble type insulation and they still work well. They have adjustable louvers that work surprisingly well and they can be rotated to push warm air wherever I want it.

I also hooked up a redneck ceiling fan. Laugh...but it's effective.

I got mine directly from New Air and they have a 25% off promotion going on right now.

I hear this is a really good shop / garage heater. My 2-car garage is insulated and I currently use an electric heater and it sucks. On those cold winter days, I freeze my ass off, even with the thing next to me. I was told on good authority (Ginhcreas) that this one is good to go. Reviews are pretty solid as well:

Nope, the second thing is just way less photogenic at the moment. It is palletized with a partial 2x crate around it that they have secured with about 1700 #10 torx screws, and it is likely to be after Christmas before I get the chance to uncrate it. On the other hand, I got to teach my son a little bit about leverage. Thing weighs a thousand pounds, but he was able to hang on to the end of a Johnson bar and get it high enough that I could slide furniture dollies under it.

Anyways, under all that shrink wrap is a Hammer A3-41 16 inch combo planer jointer, that represents a pretty significant step up for me in the world of hobbyist woodworking:

Getting closer. Still need to buy a plug and get a mobile base fabricated so I can get it off the pallet. But the crate is off and the fence has been installed and squared.

Will do sir.
Most of YouTube rates Walker Razor slightly better than Howard Leigh Impact Sports.
We do have Teal color Impact Sports, and it's been good so far. I am going to use both on lawn work as well (boarderline filter as both does 89dB, and typical lawn mower has intensity of ~90dB) to see which filters better at that level.

Duck is supposed to be cooked pretty rare, so it was probably over cooked (it was pretty gray) but it was delicious.

We have friends in Montana and they texted me if we'd like some potatoes and onions from their garden, I told them I don't turn down home grown, free food, especially onions.

Last year when they were here, they had some onions that were not even has large as baseballs. This is what they sent home to us.

White bag is half fun of potatoes. There is a full bag of yellow onions, and I took some from that bag to fill our bag.

Yes. I got it from Classic Firearms. It's made by SDS imports. It's a clone of a Saiga made by a Chinese company that has been making Type 56 AK's for a very long time. From reviews I have seen people tend to regard it better then the Saiga 12

Really? There's a mobile locksmith in the area, out of windsor. He did 2 vehicles at the house,, including reprogram for $100. Told me $75 for 1, add 1 more for an even $100

newracer

Bought the keys for $12 so a total of $104 for two keys. The dealer said they would do any amount of keys for the $92. Didn't try calling any locksmiths, called Ace Hardware and they couldn't do it.

I am sure we will find the extra key now.
