I thought british racing green was the original color.

No, that was all wrap with the silver layered over on parts of the front and the side was a printed sheet all one layer I guess.
I was wondering what you were going to do with it after the wrap came off. Was there no paint damage after it was removed? Simply buffed and waxed the original paint?
Great car!

If ceramic tint is an option, I would highly recommend it. I just got my truck done with ceramic tint and the heat reduction is drastic. The guy convinced me since my truck is black with black interior and I’m glad I took his recommendation.

I got it done locally by a small shop in Greeley. Almost all tint shops offer ceramic, just costs more. I have no issues seeing at night with my setup but I don’t have old or bad eyes. The front windows are not as dark as the rear. Ceramic is offered is all tint percentages if you don’t want to go super dark like mine.
Hmm, thanks. That is a product I'm not familiar with.

Great car!
Shop did it but yes cleaned the glue buff n polish paint correction. A few old rock chips i wish they would have added paint to, but I'll have to live with for now.
Going to have to get at least the forward wrap ppfd as its collecting a chip or two inside 1k miles. Looking for mini mud guards as the side skirt is getting dirty fast. Down the road that might become carbon ppf like the nose.
Well, it's certainly proof that cars don't have to be designed in Italy to be beautiful.

100%.
I already have ceramic tint on my Tesla and will be doing the same with the truck.
Ceramic tint? Is it just a different brand of plastic window tint?
Looks a little wasp'ish in the front windshield (and the rear, maybe overall.) What's the deal with that rectangularish exhaust? I see those on lots of newer bikes (and am not really a fan.) But overall, very nice. Congrats!
And got to love the Jaguar... lol, beautiful car.

Very nice. Love the side "trunks?"
Where did you get it done? How well can you see at night?
I got my truck done at https://highaltitudetint.com/
Dude works (at least, at the time) out of his garage a few miles from i70 and gun club. Did excellent work. I did about a 15 or 20 percent on the rear and doors, then added a 70% ceramic full windshield tint. Drastic difference in heat, and with the super light tint on the windshield, most people can't tell that there is film on it. I think I paid $500, including tip on my crew cab pickup.
My windows are a little dark for night time turns in dark areas, but I know where the button is to fix that.
My truck has dark blue leather seats, with a metal badge right in the middle of the console where you set your right arm. You only do that once without the tint. Now it's not nearly as bad.
Ceramic tint? Is it just a different brand of plastic window tint?
Different composition. Cheaper films are just dyed. The ceramic films feel and apply the same, however they reject MUCH more IR than dyed film. You can put a heat lamp over each film and the dyed film will let about 80% more heat through. Better color stability too.
Hmmm. Might have to put this on the wish list. Not going to happen before Moab, but you can bet I'll be thinking about it the whole time.

ARE YOU A VICTIM OF TOW STRAP THEFT?
If so you're not alone, each year thousands of people fall victim to this awful attack.
Don't want to fall victim, again. OR not at all. That's why Tow Strap Safes are the number 2 accessory truck owners have been installing in their vehicles.

Just imagine if someone broke into your truck, stole your toe strap, and then tied a noose in a nascar garage.

While the chassis and body are sorely in need of an overhaul. I was like, Why not, drop a few grand on it. It's got me this far in life. I Deserve It!.

A Toyota isnt going to carry this load, but you can use this stuff for crossfit. First Pound 220 tposts, dig 120 post holes, tamp the posts and string wire. A good workout. (well not good, but it will wear you out) This is 1 mile of fence. I have 6 miles of perimeter fence. I would love to replace all of it. Unfortunately that takes money. Lots of money lately. It keeps the cows in most of the time.Good thing you have lots of minions.
That looks like you are going to fence in half of Texas! lol.
As I remember now, you have a place up in Wyoming... so substitute Wyoming for Texas. Very cool.

Thanks. But i never paid attention to family health history. If i did, i probably could have gotten away with a simple rooter router, years ago.
I needed it bad.
Even though i never showed symptoms, OR any blood test showed red flags, of a health issue. This one almost killed me, as in call the coroner, serious.
But that's a story in another GK thread. I'll do some time.

My FIL was a retired Firefighter and ex-smoker with chronic COPD, went in for the widow maker some years ago and did not make it out of recovery past 10 days. Please do share that story at some point. Things like that in the back of the mind can sometimes help us be slightly less 'stupid than we already is. Scary to hear it was a close one.
On a side note I used to read the massive thread on fuckups in a student doctor forum. Not to learn anything, only because it was equally horrifying (their mistakes) and amusing (wtf patients do and come in with). Garnered a healthy amount of respect for most doctors. I still hate the one that published tons of pro-obamacare crap over here, though [Coffee].

Ha. I bought a hundred rounds of surplus black tip years ago for a dollar a round. It was linked just like that. Never actually got to fire any of it but basically gave it away a round or two at a time over the years. I dissected a couple of the projectiles and the tungsten(?) core was pretty impressive. The 50 BMG makes the 300 Win Mag cartridge look tiny.

Not sure what brand he installed. I have 3 daikens, in 2 buildings and happy with them. FYI: some of them do not work when the temp drops below X deg. Mine works to around -5 (wind chill) in the winter.

Yep, its a Pioneer 12k BTU (https://www.homedepot.com/p/Pioneer-Low-Ambient-12-000-BTU-1-Ton-20-SEER-Ductless-Mini-Split-Wall-Mounted-Inverter-Air-Conditioner-with-Heat-Pump-110-120V-WYT012ALFI19RL/314096172) unit (I probably would have been fine with the 9600 BTU unit but I figured better to have too much than too little).
You can put it in automatic mode and it'll decide whether it needs to heat or cool to get the temperature you like. The two things I found most amazing about the thing was 1) the ease of installation (only needed an HVAC guy to hook up the coolant lines, everything else a trained monkey could do) and 2) how ridiculously quiet it is (both inside and out).
We'll see how well it handles Kansas summer in a few weeks.
FYI: some of them do not work when the temp drops below X deg. Mine works to around -5 (wind chill) in the winter.
Mine says it'll work to -13deg ... I'm dubious, but it rarely gets that cold here so worst case I'll have to get a space heater for the handful of super cold days. Also in the winter, it doesn't need to keep the shed like "barefoot and shorts" comfortable, just keep the wood and bumpers of the table in a stable temperature range to keep them from moving too much (or the rubber bumpers hardening prematurely).

The big power hog transmitters I have are 2 watts...I have about 3 of those. Mostly going to use the hardware for SWR, maybe on a CB radio (not owned yet) that has a few additional features to it. Why? just because
This version of the hardware (open source fork) has one of the better displays out there. I decided to buy from the source that way I know the specific version that I picked up is not just a bad copy. I did pickup the connectors + test board to help me figure out this device.
Now to find something a bit more complex to buy....how about a used ICOM 7200 or new 7300 into a dust bunny magnet...

I no longer justified 4x4 as a requirement, so I got rid of the Xterra in favor of a more gas friendly option, I?ve been wanting to get a newer gas friendly car for DD use (Honda Accord), and get more of a project 4x4 for the trails, so here is the start of that. Definitely not a super cool sports car, but it IS a manual transmission, which I?ve always preferred, so it?s a fun little car to drive (definitely haven?t been maximizing my gas mileage the last couple tanks).

Have you put it through it's paces? Those can have issues with the High Frequency and foot pedal. There's a few discussions in practical machinist and miller welds discussion forums , regarding issues. Depending what the serial number is.
No, haven't even looked at it. I'm not worried about it.

PSA is gonna bankrupt me with their "Daily Deals". I don't have a "pistol" so figured I'd get one...mostly because the gov't doesn't want me to. And who doesn't need a spare rifle kit laying around? Besides...I have a complete 80% lower I've finished that's just in need of an upper. And, I'll soon have the Polymer 80 receiver (pictured below) finished and I'll need a complete lower parts kit. So that rifle kit will result in one complete gun and another completed lower.

Nice score. That Al is worth almost as much as Dave's truck ;)
Well, not quite heh. You're looking at $100 worth at $2/lb.
I have a 6' stick of titanium tube with a receipt from 2015 for $198. I was going to sell (trade) it to my metal place, but the going rate for scrap price on Titanium is apparently $.35 cents/lb right now, so I just kept it. I also have a 6' aluminum tube that I kept as well.
For comparison, they buy steel at $.15 cents/lb, and sell scrap steel of $.60 cents/lb. Still seems like it'd have been cheaper to build everything out of titanium, but no one has a bunch of that scrap around like aluminum.
I was also looking for some 1" square aluminum in something like a 1/16" wall, but they didn't have any. I have enough of that same size steel to make what I want right now and for almost free, but I'm pretty concerned about weight so I'll just keep looking for aluminum. Oh yeah, scrap on stainless is also $2/lb retail. I've never bought scrap stainless or aluminum before, so I don't know if those prices reflect the current market or not.

You check the guys in Henderson? They usually have AL covered. Kinda pricey IMO though.
I've heard of other metal places, but never been to any. I got a number and address for a place in Brighton that deals in aluminum, but the guy at the front desk said he only sells at full retail price, so I expect it to be pricey as well. What's the name of the place you're talking about?
EDIT: Just looked it up and we are probably talking about the same place. AlReCo on Brighton Rd in Henderson.

Nice posts guys and thanks!
Bought super bright LED back up lights (that's how they're advertised anyway) for the Trooper. They aren't so bright to compare to mounting a light bar in the back, but they are certainly brighter than factory. I don't have tinted windows, but I'd say that if I had dark tinted windows this would be more helpful in the city for parking, but it's not going to light up a dark trail the way headlights would. For $16 and next day delivery, worth it.

Never thought I'd spend $80 on a flashlight but wow!
Very nice little unit. Five levels of brightness with the brightest VERY bright. I have had it a couple weeks and used it a lot. It works great in attics and crawlspaces.
Battery life is very good. It's small enough to fit in a front pocket without troubling me, even while seated.
I carry mine in my back pocket, and every pair of pants I have has a hole in the back pocket now. That is a good upgrade from the last model. The battery is enormous and lasts a long time. The charger has been upgraded to USB C.
The hardware has some good performance, but often comes at a cost of using non-standard batteries that can't be piled high and deep. Often these batteries can only be recharged in the flashlight.
I like the Fenix PD35 TAC Portable High Intensity Tactical Flashlight - CREE XP-L V5 LED - 1000 Lumens - Uses 1 x 18650 or 2 x CR123A - this way when the battery dies I can swap it out for a fresh one.
I had the PD35, but the micro USB broke, so I ended up buying a kit off Amazon that came with a charger and 3 18650s for like $20. It was awesome cause I'd have 4 charged batteries at any time and just swap them out like you said. I lost that one in the woods hunting. The PS36R comes with an ARB-L21-5000 battery that dwarfs the 18650. I haven't checked if there is a charger for it yet.

I still have the original PD35 and it's my favorite light. Bought Fenix lights for work and home for years and never been disappointed.
86522
With all this flashlight talk; I upgraded...and picked up a few smaller AA cell lights.
I did see a note on their website that there are a lot of bad copies of their flashlights on Amazon and other sites.
My only complaint with the PD36 is that I keep somehow catching the clip on things and bending it while it's in my pocket. I've had to bend it back into shape with pliers a few times and that's never happened with the last model.

Cool on the performance - the one I tried was for a Glock 17/22 setup and I could get maybe a few mags thru it without me having to clean it up. However, I have read that with a dremel and a polishing wheel you could get quite good increase in reliability.

Not yet. I cleaned it, before installing on the 19. Actually read the instructions (i blame that on covid) Saw what ammo they suggested, with 40 gr blazer lead, as one of them. Light lube on contact surfaces, ran 2-50 rd boxes, stopping to reload the mags. 2 light strikes, the rest fed and ejected w/out an issue.
Did the same thing yesterday, with zero failures.
So far, so good. I have other ammo they suggest. I'll run the blazer till there's issues, keeping track of performance till that time. . Be curious how many rounds i can run before any issues occur.
I was hesitant to invest in a conversion unit, due to issues with another one, some years back.

Everyone who buys one of the newer ones seems to rave about it. Supposedly they?re quite the tack drivers.

Traded a guy 1000 rounds of 5.56mm and 500 9mm for this little 8 x 16 lathe. He never even took it out of the crate. I've always wanted to learn how to use one. Now I can. I don't expect to be making aerospace quality parts with it...but it should be OK to learn on.

remember to get a good - heavy table for that lathe - maybe an old welding table?
Now hunt down a mill in the same size and you will be able to make as many atomic turnip tiddlers you want.

Yeah... I thought about where I'm going to put it. I don't have room for a dedicated steel table. It'll be on a steel plate on a very solid wooden workbench. It's the best I can do for now. Like I said...mostly for learning right now.

starting the slow process of upgrading parts of my home network - the odd looking "holes' on the right are for SPF+ ports
i noticed that my old computer does have a 1 gig port - not sure why it is running at 100 meg so if I get some Cat 8 cable - I will test out if the build in network can't hang at 1gig

You don't need CAT8 or CAT7 or even CAT6 to run 1gig. I'm running CAT5e throughout my house and any device that's capable of 1gig speeds is running 1gig speeds.

Oh so true - but the device supports an SPF+ port which can run 10G -
which will be the high speed upgrade - the back bone should be garage, basement, bedroom
I have a few CAT 7 cables - the fine print says they are not quite RJ-45 in size - but they do seem to fit. I am looking
at fiber optic run due to the low cost of some of the cables.
Considering the run location, I want shielded cables because they are close to a few power runs. So CAT 6E I believe has the shielding as part of the spec.
What I did not include was a lower end version of that router that runs with 4 SPF+ ports and 1 gig WAN/config port which will end up having the normal 1g side of the house.
I went cheap on the SPF+ modules - or should I say SPF at 1.1 gig transmission rate. The basement side will have
the NAS hardware. Once the hardware looks to be useful; I will upgrade a few of the servers with SPF+ ports so I can
enjoy the speed.
SFP
Some old school still call them GBIC's, or even mini-GBIC, but the two are physically different.
I use SPF 30 if I?m going to be in the sun all day.

No... It's new. It's one of the O1911C Classic guns with the pre 70 series styling and roll marks. Pretty nice gun.

I picked up two of these to go with my SPF+ switches.
Along with shielded network able that can handle the 10g speed....
I did some testing on some old hardware and found that at least my 5E cable was giving my 1g interface some "fits" so it slowed down to 100/100. The test was to swap out one link of the 5E cable with a cat 6 cable, put that 1gig switch and "poof" - you are at max speed.
This slow down has been observed using some broadcom chip sets when it performs a link test to see what speed it should run at. There were a few warnings about using Cat 5E with that chipset saying it would put it's nose in the air and lock the port to a lower speed. The funny thing is, I have other hardware using the same cables, etc and they say it is all fine and good and run at gigabit speed.
Note: the instruction manual on that picture shows optical SPF+ - while the order form shows copper...

Well, if I remember my British slang, James Bond was a big time bird watcher....and it be best if I did not reference the hummer part.
There are a few real nice humming birds in the area...last year I saw my first flock form up and head south for the winter.
Oh so cool, my local humming bird zipped to about 10 feet of me, hovered "looking at me" for 10+ seconds - then zipped
up to a flock of about 8 other birds and left for the year.

Well behaved pomeranians are funny and great dogs. The yappy, constant barky and nippy ones I can do without.
This one is a good one. Not yappy, very loving. I?ve never had a small dog but she has grown on me.
Bought 3 of these at $2.50 each (total of $8.11).

This sucker is BRIGHT!
They claim 618 yards. My street is 512 yards according to GPS and it lights up the houses down at the end.
Bought it on a Labor Day sale for $60. Had it for a couple weeks and carry it every night when I walk the pooch. Very happy with it.
Will try to get some night pictures but its difficult to show how well it works.
Only 1,000 lumens and it's supposed to reach over 600 yards? Does it have a focusing lens?
It looks pretty bright for during the day.

It has a deep reflector. I don't think the lens has any focusing- it's flat.
They claim a true 1000 lumens from their... bulb? emitter?
Unlike the cheap chinee crap you can get for much less money. And I have several flashlights that claim high output but Nitecore and Fenix seem to live up to their claims.
Yeah Fenix is what I've got.
