of which neither are decent. I guess the question should have been. Compared to local / not chain pizza places. Anything is better than LC. Which wasn't the case 20-30 years ago. When you could get 2 of their fresh, large, square (not sitting in a warming oven) pizzas for under $15. Hence Pizza, Pizza.

Curious, In a pinch. How does this compare to some of the local pizza places, in the fort?

It doesn't compare to the local places but it is good, especially for the price and considering I can leave and be back home with one in about 15 minutes. IMO it's way better than the other chains.

Nice HD Limited! I still love my 2019 1500 Limited. Spring is coming. I've already been exercising my sunroof.

Thanks all,

No sunroof for me. Have one on my car and it's nice, but I don't park it in NM in 115F heat.

The IR tint I'll be installing would certainly help that, but I'm still a bit leery of leaks (drain tubes plugging, seals). It was an added expense I just didn't have any interest in and I already have enough cab penetration with the lights & sharkfin & sat gps/XM pods.

It sure would have been nice if the current HD's had a true 5th Gen cab, but the bulbous AAC camera behind the mirror doesn't bother me much being only 5'10". Rear recline seats are not important to me, just the move from a QC to the CC is huge. Tons of rear legroom for the occasional passenger and my grandson could build a fort back there.

Have a friend in the tint/bra business so I'll be getting the F&F discount for a cash deal. ;-)

With the current COVID-19 scare and the market uncertainty, it was a bittersweet deal. The upside is they are so hungry for sales, I got to beat them up more on a few things. Maxcare at $100 over cost (compared online prices) and they let me put a HUGE down using a CC so pints and miles cha-ching. I got an absolutely smokin rate on the financed part and it's even with my bank.

BTW, I think I'm the only one here who thinks Pizza Ranch is awful? When you factor how much you pay it doesn't really matter that it's all-you-can eat. For over $30 (with drinks) I can easily get my fill of much better food. For instance, some tout the all-you-can-eat chicken and for $15 per person I can buy a couple of 8pc buckets of chicken from King Soopers. I promise you I can't eat 16 pieces of chicken over the course of several days. The pizza is meh at best and I certainly wouldn't put it against even decent pizza.

To me, Pizza Ranch reminds me of Cici's Pizza only 3x more expensive with similar pizza, worse drink selections and the addition of fried chicken. That's just me though. There's usually lots of cars in the parking lot when we drive by so I must be in the minority with that opinion.

I'm not super selective with my food choices either but I do tend to try to shy away from buffets these days and would rather eat 2-3 good slices of pizza rather than 9-24 slices of pizza that is only a few steps above a cardboard box with gubment cheese & canned meats thrown on it.

The quality (or lack there of) of Pizza Ranch probably has to do with geography.

If you?re in a town like Red Oak, Iowa then suddenly Pizza Ranch is a very good option for lunch.

Also, when the company is paying for lunch then the price vs what you are getting for your money becomes an irrelevant part of the equation.

I've been looking at replacing the Wyze camera at the front door for awhile. It requires a power cord so I have it mounted in our front window which works ok but the glare in the daytime makes it horrible. It also doesn't do a great job of picking up movement on certain things (especially people) but always picks up the wind moving the bush out front. I think it has a really hard time seeing through the glass which doesn't help.
https://i.postimg.cc/3Rbcj0nL/wyze.png (https://postimages.org/)

I was about to pull the trigger on a Ring camera but our doorbell is mounted in a weird spot. They do make a right-ish angle mount but I know the lady wasn't going to like it because it was going to stick out like a sore thumb. I also really don't like the idea the it's obvious it's a camera and I've heard of people stealing them.
https://i.postimg.cc/J0Q0sm15/db.jpg (https://postimages.org/)

A friend told me Amazon had a 100% wire free camera and the battery life was around 3-6 months depending on how much it is used so I picked this guy up. Hopefully it works as well as the reviews say it does.

I tried that route too, but the infrared detection didn't work through the glass and the IR illumination LEDs reflected back off the glass at night.

My doorbell is like yours. I went the Ring route. It has a brushed bronze bezel like the door hardware and doesn't look crazy. Stealing it would also take some effort since it uses a security screw to gain access to the mounting screws.

Having had battery powered cameras before, I like that the standard doorbell transformer keeps it charged. I have another camera that I plan to put under an eave that will cover the entire front of the property.

Did you go with the angle mount as well? The stories I heard about people stealing them was just prying them off, not even working about the security screw. I'd prefer to go the Ring mount but like I said, I hate that is plain as day that it is a camera.

I went with a wedge and an angle since it's on hardboard siding. The screws I used are impressive. The ones in the kit are too thin and the heads aren't big enough, IMO. It would take a lot of effort to rip off.

Skybell is free. You can turn off the LED so it isn't constantly on. Help me understand why you are concerned that it looks like a camera? I can't imagine what value a doorbell pried off a house could have. People used to get cell phones and iPods stolen, but now that everyone has one, seems like less of a concern.

I can't speak for the theft risk, but it has occurred to me that as prevalent as "Rings" are, if your doorbell looks like a camera at a distance a dedicated thief (or whatever) isn't going to come up and ring it.... Even if that used to be a thing. So maybe by not having obvious cameras, they try the obvious methods first, where you may have a chance to notice before something happens.

Pretty much what I was thinking. While I really don't feel theft may be the issue, someone that is notices a camera is either going to stop what they were about to do or figure out a different method to get around it. If you can make it discreet, why wouldn't you?

I never thought about having a camera system setup until last year when I got into a dispute with one of the neighbors (who has since moved). It was over a minor issue but he didn't take it that way. I figured at one point he was going to try and get back at me by either damaging one of my vehicles or something else. He had parked two of his four vehicles right in front of our house and refused to move them. Mind you, the one truck had been in a roll over, in no way road worthy, both had expired out of state tags, and were never driven. Our neighborhood at that time was brand new and the HOA was still in the process of being completed. They were aware of the situation but said they couldn't do anything until it had been finalized (which took months). I finally got his attention and that's when the argument took place. He got pretty nasty and said it was no of my F'in business what cars are in front of my house and that he could park whatever and wherever he wanted.

As cheap as these cameras are now-a-days, you really don't have an excuse to not even have a basic setup like mine to CYA.

Thanks for sharing! That is probably how mine will end up with the same camera view. Ideally, I like it angled more to actually view my parked vehicle/vehicles but that may not be feasible with the Ring. I'm not a home construction guy either but I am guessing they mounted our doorbell there for a reason so it probably cannot be relocated very easily. I'll try both and see which I like better.

Your doorbell is likely hardwired to a low volt (10 volts I think?) power source, possibly in your attic. So if you want to keep it similar, it's a matter of rerouting that wire.

Gman
03-13-2020, 14:34
Yeah. This is just for those approaching the door and what you see there. I plan to get a more complete picture come spring like I do in the back and side yards. It's difficult to post pictures because I have to downres them for size and then they don't look very good. My Ring Doorbell 2 has a battery and the standard doorbell transformer keeps it at 100%. I could have gone through the effort of upgrading the transformer (mine's in the utility closet in the basement), but didn't want to go that far. I have a dual battery unit in the garage since there's no available power. It works well, but I really hate charging/replacing batteries.

SouthPaw

Yes and no. Our HOA states that all vehicles inside the complex must be currently registered, insured and road worthy I.E. no projects or anything of that nature. You can't have it legal and be rebuilding it or working on it. On top of that, we have assigned parking and one of his was in our assigned spot.

We have a town home and I know there is a small space for the attic but I've never been in there to see what I can actually access. That is really what I would like to do is face it towards the street but then again, I am not sure if it can be done nicely.

definitely like an opinion of that meco unit. Regarding a camera picking up bushes moving.

The one for the front entrance of the house in windsor sent me 20 alarms one day. WFT nothing showing for someone trying to gain access, or even walk on the sidewalk. After running through all them, in sequence, you could see it was picking up the leaves moving across the lawn, in the wind.

I'll let you know how it does. The Wyze one currently will pickup the bush moving in the wind but literally won't pickup the car pulling in or someone walking up the door to drop off a package. The Wyze brand also has an option that it will highlight the movement so you know why i is alerting but like I said won't pickup anything that I really want it to. The others around the house work great but they aren't trying to focus through a window.

The powered ring cameras have highly customized motion zones, so you can basically blank out the items that move so you don't get notifications. As to triggering with leaves, there's also a sensitivity option. From picking up everything all the way to only people.

Please do let us know what you think of your little Meco.

Picked up new triangle handguards while I was at it, these seem to fit nicer than the last pair that was on the upper. Carry handle scope is a Barska 4x20.

Still finishing a new lower build for this one, it'll have the flat trigger guard, and A1 style grip.

Barrel/Delta ring assembly/handguard/gas tube came from JSE surplus. Very happy with their service. Was originally looking at a government profile barrel, but switched it up to a pencil barrel instead. They offer bare barrels, or a barrel with the barrel nut and front sight already installed.

edit: Just to clarify, the barrel/front sight/barrel nut was one item, and I added the delta ring assembly, gas tube, and handguard onto the order.

Yea, lucky. Strolling through both Safeway and Kings this afternoon just to see if I could pick up a few things.

Parker Safeway had beef, no chicken. No TP, no sanitary stuff.

KS at Parker& Lincoln had probably 30 or 40 packs of these 4-packs on the shelf with a 1 per customer limit on each paper product. No sanitary. Grabbed one of these and one 2-pack paper towels. Wife didn't get my text and went to Kings after work around 1730 and of course it was all gone.

KS was well stocked with proteins.

I scored some Nyquil and children's tylenol cold & flu at both locations. Though we still had some, it wasn't enough for an extended illness so I grabbed enough for the little guy to get through anything he might catch.

I can't believe we're even talking about this and it's not ammo.

P.S. Many thanks to the forum member that extended an offer to me for some meds if needed. You know who you are and it was immensely appreciated.

Haven't tried it yet, cylinder is 'sloppy' but locks up fine when cocking in SA or DA. Seller shot it with no problems. Just need to pick up some .22 long and see!

I like the design and history of these early revolvers.

I've heard of J frame, etc.

These are earlier and smaller than that?

I've got to say that I love how the early guns, have this flat shape to their stock, very mechanical, "this is a gun" feel.

Yes, they are thin and easily concealable. I often carried them concealed when I was in college. The .32 is lighter and smaller than my regular CCW, a 1956 pre-Centennial Safety Hammerless. This is an early J-frame.

One of my favorite, older model S&W revolvers was the little Terrier...if I recall it was an "I" frame. Nifty little guns. I bought one from a retired judge sometime in the 90s. His story was he kept that gun with him in the courtroom for his entire career and never fired it. It looked unfired. The box looked brand new, too. The gun was from the 60s...don't recall exactly when. He gave me the original box of .32 ammo that he bought, too. It was missing 5 rounds. He said he unloaded it when he retired and didn't know what he did with the ammo that was in the gun. It's one I really regret selling. But, we do what we have to do sometimes.

That would probably be quicker but I'm making the dealer take care of it since I'm pretty sure it's the cab that's off more than the bed (pucks are aligned.) There may be a little tolerance stacking going on with both.

It's a full 1" difference (so 1/2" split).

Yea, ramcare is all over hdrams. I can also call ramcare if needed.

Dealer (GM) was cool about it, offering Wed to get me in Monday. After checking my schedule and replying Thu, he went dark on me.

I'll probably just call Monday and set something up.

There you go. I'm on the sister forum, 5th Gen Rams. They volunteered to help me out with a couple of issues.

Those things friggin' work! I have one for my Ram 1500 due to the vast black dash real estate. That shiny side gets so hot, it burns the crap out of my fingers trying to fold it back up again. It becomes a game of hot potato.

Thanks.

In the RV world, it's well known that the reflectix many of us use is not good for dual or triple pane windows due to the heat generated by the reflection.

I'm also considering having the windshield covered with clear IR film. Sadly this very expensive truck house payment I bought has to sit outside as 21.75' of truck doesn't fit in a 21' garage. In summer I can back it in rear facing south but in winter I like to keep it plugged in so Bullwinkle has to go in nose first.

P.S. I need to measure this dumb thing now too. Either the notch is not centered, or the monstronstrosity of a forward collision system behind the mirror is not centered on the windshield.

Bullwinkle, eh? Mine's named Clifford. They have multiple options as to which systems/cameras you have optioned on the truck. On the 1500, one has a much deeper notch than the other. It also had a bit of a learning curve how to deploy the thing and get it to fit. Seemed like it was too big overall the first time I tried.

As to clearance including the shark fin, I've enjoyed the option of being able to drop down the air suspension to park in the Presbyterian Saint Lukes parking garage. I know it's not for everybody, but I like it.

It's the monster 10" wide system on the HD's with the FCW and 5 camera surround - not yet truly 5th gen and was the correct one for my truck. Might as well be a split window. I looked at the shield again today from the outside and the dumb fks definitely have the center notch not centered. Arg. I hate dealing with returns.

As for Bullwinkle, I'm just going to try a few on, haven't really picked a name yet.

That one might be a bit overused considering the tow mirrors on these Dodges.

ETA: Looked closer at it today and the center pod IS offset to one side and the shade IS cut properly to fit, I must have just had it in there wonky.

While I have 16 year old Weathertech in my old truck and they've held up amazingly well, I understand their current quality has gone down.

I looked at the Mopar mats and they don't go as far up the sides.

I already have the nice soft rubber mats with the snap out carpet pads in my Limited, but wanted something with more coverage for winter. I'll probably keep the full width mat in the back seat year round.

The X-ACT contour mats aren't as "plasticy" as the other versions and have more grip as well.

I have the X-Act contour in my truck. They seemed a little slippery at first, but that went away by the end of the first week. They are great mats and they completely cover the floor in my truck, front and back.

One thing I love about these versus the factory mats, is that there is no hole through the mat where it secures to the floor. Melted snow and mud can puddle up on the floor mat and it will never get to the carpet underneath.

Smart. We've used our vacuum sealer a lot lately for meats and fish, prepared soups and stews, coffee beans, even pet kibble. Double bagged in freezer ziplocs foods can stay fresh and free from freezer burn for years. I've kept different freezer foods separated using cardboard boxes but would like to use sealed plastic bins to further prevent oxidation if I could find the right stackable box containers.

The spouse uses those reusable / canvas shopping bags, from different stores. Meats and veggies are in color coded bags. Handles make lifting easier and not as prone to breakage as plastic or cardboard.

Throw in her excel sheets for inventory. 1 for the freezers and 1 inside, as we move from storage to house.

Excel spread sheet. broken down in to poultry, pork, beef, etc. meats 1 side veggies, fish, and misc the other.

We keep the cooked items and ones to be cooked this week, in house freezer section. Everything else is in one of the out building freezers. Sheets for freezers and 1 for what's in the house frige/freezer. The outbuilding freezers (as mentioned in the smoking thread) have the meats kept in those reusable / washable shopping bags. Meats color coded for easy id as well as removing from chest freezer.

I've used milk crates, very strong, but I found that 1/2 bushel cardboard tomato boxes fit better in my chest freezer. Fruit growers use "tomato tabs" because they are strong, water resistant and cheap. They work great but I'd prefer an airtight stackable container that efficiently fills the freezer. Manufacturers should be making these.

Probably the nicest vehicle I have every owned. Not new, it's a 2017. I bought my Rubicon new in 2013 but you know Jeeps aren't luxury cars...and I didn't have the money to spend at the time for a super upgraded model. Sold it January 2018 to pay off bills and had enough equity to buy a 2006 Ford F150. I would have liked it to last a little longer, but it seemed like everything was falling apart in the last two months I had it.

Wendy O Williams

Saw her jogging in Battery Park while visiting NYC in my youth. Took me by surprise, and couldn't yell out to her quick enough.
She probably would have just punched me anyway.

Heady times for sure. It was definitely hard to be "famous" in that time frame.

Hmmm... I wonder if that was Sideshow Bob's chainsaw??

First of my shipments from RMR Bullets. 2000 x 9mm, 124gr flat points.

Each 1000 was in a sealed plastic bag, then into a small flat rate priority mail box, those 2 boxes taped together, then stuffed into a flat rate padded envelope. Mail man stuffed it into our mailbox rather than bringing it up to the door.
