Started this little project. Troy at Colorado Gun Writes did the engraving for me. He does amazing work. Still waiting on the barrel from Tromix, muzzle brake, and the BCG. Once I have those parts, the upper will be complete.

The Taco got new bones! Not really a “purchase”, since Toyota paid for it. After a couple failed attempts and a class action lawsuit, Toyota replaced the frame on my ‘05 Tacoma.

Thought this might be interesting in relation to this post:

My new purchase is pretty boring comparatively, but I picked up a 10/22 to use for the appleseed event I'm attending in june

Used, but looks perfect, $200 including the rings and cabelas branded 22lr bdc scope. Not fancy, but it'll do the job and was a better deal than buying a new cheapo 22.

Try this stuff when you burn through that

I absolutely love it. Also if you're using the store blades, you owe it to yourself to grab some of these:

https://www.amazon.com/Feather-Double-Edge-Blades-Count/dp/B00AGG3MNU/ref=pd_nav_hcs_bia_t_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=KMPHGR3D0TZCXFK8HBGF

I had an awful time with skin irritation when I had to shave everyday, but this combined with having a job where nobody gives a damn if you skip a day or two has sorted it all out.

Keep us informed on how those butt splices work out, there have been some bad reviews about them not working as advertised.

I used a couple of the large ones today and I am not impressed. You have to get them very hot to melt the solder and they get very flimsy. It's fine if you have a stationary heat source and can hold the wires on each end of the splice. Not ideal for using in the console of a vehicle. Once cool they are stiff and seem secure and sealed though.

I just use a metal crimp, then solder, but don't forget the shrink tubing first!

Buy either adhesive lined marine tubing, or if you're working on bigger stuff and have 2-3x shrink, I just use a hot melt glue gun. Give it a squirt, then double down with a heat gun. However, hard to do on small stuff.

https://www.amazon.com/270-pcs-Adhesive-Assortment-MILAPEAK/dp/B0771K1Z7Q/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1523326901&sr=8-2&keywords=waterproof+shrink+tubing&dpID=513Vt3AIEwL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch

If you need a lot of just a few common sizes, might be better to order from Mouser or Digikey.

https://www.mouser.com/Wire-Cable/Wire-Protection-Management/Heat-Shrink-Tubing-and-Sleeves/_/N-5ggzZ1yzvvqx?P=1z0xe63Z1z0xg3xZ1yzp2rpZ1z0xfzwZ1z0 xfztZ1ydlw43Z1z0jnfk&Keyword=heat+shrink+waterproof&Ns=Recovered+Diameter%7c0&FS=True

When I worked as a marine tech we only used T&B connectors, and a proper crimp tool. To seal the connector just squirt some silicone into the tube prior to crimping. Theoretically that should add resistance to the joint but in reality it prevented corrosion so well, and the crimper removed the silicone at the crimp well enough. The joints lasted for years even in bilges with sea water.

Construction probably starts tomorrow. They are supposed to be able to be in the coop full time (without heat) at 6 weeks. I'll probably have it mostly built pretty quick, and functional shortly after. Once it's ready to rock, I plan on putting them outside anyway with the heat lamp at nights. They already spend pretty much all day outside already. d

I was denied entry at the door..

Bummer. I just walk around the house and knock on every window until he let's me in. Sometimes he tries to play tough, but when he sees me get the ladder to get the second story windows, he usually lets me in.

Never forget.

I would say never Tractor Supply... They are over priced and they have less useful stuff than any of the others.

Look at Tractor Supply for them. Jax doesn't deserve your business.

These were discounted down to $1.99 each at the Big R at 120th and Colorado. I don't know what the regular price is, but can't be much more. They discounted the older ones and just got new ones in.
Older chicks in the left two bins, brand new chicks in the other bins.

Great deal on the safe. I have similar sets of puck lights that I use in the gun safe, kitchen, bath and bar cabinet. Sometimes we'll have frequent power outages here so these work great for backup lighting. But use them conservatively and be prepared to buy more AAA batteries.

Sam's Club sells the lights that can be used in four colors and dimmed to save power.

Haha, not for sale yet! Got a set of Pachmayr Compac grips on the way (the original combat wood grips never fit my hand) and a good buddy in Wyoming, now retired and goes to all the gun shows in that free state, is on the prowl for a holster for me. There's one of the original S&W/Lew Horton new old stock in the bag on that popular auction site but at $150+ I'm gonna pass lol.

Another amazon purchase I made for my safe was a set of these:

https://www.amazon.com/Gun-Storage-Solutions-Starter-19-Inch/dp/B06XKF7WR6

The set I got, the rods were black.... so far I haven't had a problem forgetting to remove the rods, but I think the bright orange rods is a much better idea.

Makes getting rifles in and out of the safe much easier than the rifle rest, and makes it easy to deal with different length rifles.

I filled my door pockets and had to buy a few of the Shelf hook kits and I still have some kicking around and should probably order another one now that I'm thinking about it. My safe looks like a tornado went through a garage sale and it takes a little bit of effort to get the door closed each time. One of these days I'll just break down and buy a bigger safe.

No pic, but I got an unworn pair of these yesterday at the thrift store for $22 bucks.
https://www.amazon.com/Danner-Mens-Steadfast-Inch-Hunting/dp/B00XF10OJ8

I see on the reviews that someone says they aren't waterproof. Not sure what they were doing, but after a walk around the block to see how I liked em, I came in and my oldest was taking his bath. So naturally, and to my wife's displeasure, I stepped into water up to my ankles and stood there moving my feet around for a few minutes. No soak-through.

They were missing an insole, so I ripped a pair out of my converse allstars and they fit perfectly. I actually didn't like the Danner insole that came with them.

Very happy with these so far, as my Columbia hiking books are now 9 years old and worse for wear.

You have to be aware of running them at the appropriate pressure for the tire, though...I went with the C's which is what I typically use on my rigs. I've heard the Toyos wear like iron, but tend to chunk if you wheel rocky stuff a lot. Seeing as how my driving consists of 80/20 pavement/dirt on a good season, I'm happy with the decision. 65k warranty is hard to beat for an AT.

My M&P Pro 9, woohoo! As clean as any new pistol I've bought, also told the seller about this forum, he's definitely a good guy. I had held on to mags from a previous full size I had, can't wait to hit the range. Now to find a holster for it.

Some time on track today. My upgrades to the car took longer than exepected this weekend, and I went out there with a bad alignment and the wrong tires. Didn't score very well at all, but had a decently fun time.

That's one advantage to 2 wheels.

Change out the coolant for non-glycol coolant, unplug the lights, put on some safety gear, and off you go!

Fair. YT has a wealth of good info. That guys vids are pretty good.

I have been told that it is to eliminate distractions on the track. No headlights and no brake/tail lights, so that people are paying attention to what the other riders are doing, not what their lights indicate (brake lights without actually braking being a prime example).

Beyond that, because the Safety Tech guys say I have to...

I was thinking the way a leather holster is put together. I was also thinking that you wanted non-metal for metal detectors.

A FIST ultra thin kydex holster for the G26, damn near makes my 26 feel as thin as a holstered 43, of course the weight is still there.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180510/8c3c46fabbb6a972692ff2da94e29b40.jpg

I don't foresee this holster lasting as long as standard kydex, and not because of craftsmanship, but the kydex is literally so thin, that I can see it cracking in certain places. That being said, the fact that my G26 feels as thin as a G43 in a thicker holster, I'm prepared to replace this ultra thin every few years.

KT-Mech holster for my 5" M&P Pro. Definitely for range use only as the trailing end doesn't curve as much as others I've had for the shorter M&Ps but not many folks seem to offer 5" holsters. Suede lined too, great retention and a very smooth draw.

They're still being made. $28-38 plus shipping. The plain black one I have on my 36 is great but man I'm always tempted to buy a silver or bronze one to really talk it to flavor town

I overpaid for mine because I bought it from Robinson's off Gunbroker so I paid a little over $40 for mine (ordering directly from Tyler is apparently a hit & miss thing as to whether you'll get it in a few weeks or a few months and involves mailing a check to Oklahoma ... how 20th century).

No offense taken.
That’s the normal response lol. I bought one for camping , then another , got on a couple forums and it all went to hell. I really only collect vintage axes ,It’s cheaper than collecting knives or guns. I only buy em if I can make a profit if I decide to sell.

I’ve got a few axes and hand/crosscut saws that are around 100 years old. I think it’s cool to see something like that survive that long without being destroyed or thrown away. The quality of vintage tools blows most modern shit clean out of the water.
True craftsman made these things with their hands. I appreciate that.

The one on walnut, that's the original LaLuz, actually it was 1 off from Silver Grill Cafe. Then took over RP's spot after they decided to close due to a noticeable rent increase. The one on boardwalk was at one time part of the same ownership.

Just ate at the Silver Grill for the first time on Sunday. Really good food and decent Bloody Mary bar too.
