Torn achilles. Might get a second boot just for matches (save me having to clean out the dust) as I can start getting out again, probably. Think they come in od or fde? Giggle

Those are rather inexpensive to get, but sure are expensive to get rid of. Good luck with the surgery!

To make it an even better deal, look to see if your electric company has rebates for chainsaws. Many of them are offering rebates on electric powered outdoor equipment.

I have this saw and it is surprisingly good for what it is.

My old OEM tires were getting a bit long in the tooth on my truck.

I had about 50% of the tread left; but with a slow leak that was speeding up I decided to nuke my budget.
When old tires where new, they worked out just fine. It was hard to break loose in the back, but that changed
a bit as the tires got older.

Based on ratings, this set of coopers should work out much better in wet or snow.

The old tires were about 5 1/2 years old, and just started to get squirrely in heavy rain without pushing the golden 4x4 button.

My next goal is to find a good quality steel rim to toss a full size tire for my spare.

Those look about 2 feet tall, so a 10 ft chain link fence might keep them in. Make sure to put razor ribbon at the top to keep them from climbing it and at the bottom or they will go under it.
Goats are amazing landscape cleaners. Our pen was about two acres and the oak brush still hasn't grown back three years after we got rid of them.

Bailey Guns
10-09-2022, 05:44
Yep... We have a 4-strand 'bob-war' fence that we need to attach some goat wire to. Either that or some electric netting that we can move around. I never imagined how fun a bunch of little goats are. The big one is maybe 2' tall and she's about 6 months old. The others are barely a foot tall right now at about 2 months old. They won't get much bigger than the big one. We'll get a little billy next year and have little baby goatlets by spring of 2024.

Yea, I think it was $24.73 so it looks like I overpaid vs Amazon now that I look. Basically the same price for a single gallon. Just happen to be in the store and saw it so I grabbed 3.

I have a 3-pack from Amazon that was $61.68 Apr 2020. It's available there now for $70.29. Very reasonable considering. However, it is showing 30 days out for delivery.

Left eject is just a proprietary BCG and upper receiver, right?

Ok, after 45 years of using/competing/working with 1911s I just can't get away from them LOL. I have one Glock, a 19M, and a few S&W revolvers but the 1911 (got a few in .45 lol) will always be my preferred pistol.

I don't know why I sold the last Springfield RO Elite Compact in 9mm (a now discontinued model) I had but I just found a used in outstanding condition with everything it came with new so I just had to have it!! Looking forward to running some rounds through it this weekend, hope it's as outstanding as my last one was. Will definitely become my #1 edc as it's so easy to carry/conceal-for me better than any other pistol.

The build only needed the Lefty BCG and Upper. The dust cover goes up due to the bolt catch/release would not let it go down. I did install smaller screw knobs on the carry handle after this pic to allow it to open more. I do want to test fire it to see if it does not interfere with the casings ejecting.

That is one thing those style heaters are known for - roll out the heat.

I should make some time to get an insert for my fireplace to enjoy that when I want to warm up the north side of my house as in near the garage.

Better yet, I should get one and install it inside the garage; I do have a nice spot that should / maybe work - raised cement floor. I would want to
line the area with cement board just because....

The only thing I wonder is how hungry they are for the sort of temps we have...

The only thing I wonder is how hungry they are for the sort of temps we have...

This morning it raised the temp from 64 degrees to 70 degrees in an hour. I have very high ceilings and about 7000 cubic feet to heat. With very poor insulation.

Four preset settings but user adjustable for feed motor and fans speeds. In the morning I can turn it on with my phone from the bedroom and when I am done with my shower the front rooms are nice and warm.

It's not very loud- about the same as the portable A/C unit I use in the summer that is a bit smaller. However when I got it, it was buzzy at times. I took it apart and had to shim the auger motor. I found several loose screws and a loose pop rivet. It's been very quiet since then.

It would be perfect in a garage. I'll keep it when I get out of this condo just for that.

It gobbles some pellets on high. Rated at 3.7 lbs/hr. Once it gets going I turn it to low and it uses 1.7 lbs/hr but that is if it keeps running. It has a thermostat that will shut down into two different idle modes.

I have put about 60 pounds through it. There was minimal ash in the ashtray- about three cups. I took it apart and there wasn't much inside the unit. This leads me to believe it meets the claimed 76% efficiency.

I used a Lowe's credit card and got $100 off, I think. I also got a federal tax credit form for a 26% so it cost me about $700.

I am very happy with it so far.

Ha! I haven't used it much yet but really like the smaller grip, less noise and vibration.

Spare you the long story but I bought another Makita model from Amazon then realized this was much better for me. Returned it unopened. Tried to buy this one from Amazon but their AI kept screwing with the price and delivery date. Jacked it up from $155 to $209.

I ended up buying off eBay for $140. Home Depot price is $239.

Got a cheap Chinese manual sewing machine to be able to sew patches on to my son's scout uniform, and to do some canvas upholstery work on some outdoor chairs I am building. This is the purely dirtiest thing I've ever received from Asia, and I had shore leave in Thailand. The machine came covered in used motor oil, dirt, and liquid cancer. On the plus side, I know it wasn't made by child labor; the despair evident in the build quality could only be achieved by someone who had lived a long life of deep disappointment.
https://www.johnnyego.com/wood/tools/sewingmachine/clsm02.JPG

This thing took me about 20 hours of time, research, and effort to clean it, correctly time it, file off all the rough edges and machine marks, and get it to consistently sew a stitch without snapping the thread. But now I am a danger to merit badge patches and canvas upholstery everywhere.

I spent some quality time looking at the instruction guide that came from an overseas location. I have seen better guides from Ikea - heck; the parts list looks like one from Ikea....

Think I counted over 100 screws / bolts / and what not to assemble that box above.

When I found the first instruction guide - it was 2 page document that well; had no instructions...I paged down a bit and found the real guide.

Wow
My first thought was a little overkill for a Scout patch.
My second thought was about my poor mom hand sewing patches when I was a Scout in the 50's.
Very impressive and your patience is a model for all

My mom was one of those liberated types who had enough to do being an English professor, so I had to sew on all my own patches. And based on the uniform I still have, it showed! I think my Eagle Scout patch has maybe five enormous stitches holding it in place.

I am pretty happy with this one, now that I am on the other side of getting it to work smooth and/or not contracting leprosy. I am also realizing it takes a fair amount of practice to pull tension, feed material, hand crank the machine, and still end up sewing in a straight line. I was not drunk when I did some of these practice runs, but I could see how one might think I would be:

https://www.johnnyego.com/wood/tools/sewingmachine/clsm33.JPG

The good news is I am starting to get better. Aside from learning how to do a cleaner lock stitch in a better position, I am pretty pleased with this practice merit badge:
https://www.johnnyego.com/wood/tools/sewingmachine/clsm35.JPG

I sewed some velcro to his rank patches, and the machine went through like butter. I am pretty proud of this one, too:
https://www.johnnyego.com/wood/tools/sewingmachine/clsm37.JPG

https://www.johnnyego.com/wood/tools/sewingmachine/clsm38.JPG

Finally, because I could, I added some velcro to my kid's coat, so he could stick a school-appropriate morale patch to it:
https://www.johnnyego.com/wood/tools/sewingmachine/clsm41.JPG

https://www.johnnyego.com/wood/tools/sewingmachine/clsm42.JPG

Very impressive project with the manual sewing machine, and now I know what the rails on your bench are for!

Velcro on the scout patches are a great idea! Might have saved mom a lot of work. She did the sewing but I removed the stitches.

Later, after I left home, I bought a 1930's pedal Singer for $2 at a barn sale. Used it for more than a decade until mom gave me one of her older machines.

Your reloading bench project is a wonder to behold! Are you a teacher by profession, JohnnyEgo?

I'm kind of a Kel-Tec geek. I have several. Don't have a CP33. This one has a frequent feeding hang-up...and it's ever so slight. Does it for the first half of the mag then feeds great. The slide will stop about 2/3 of the way into full battery and a little wiggle of the gun is enough to send it home. I'm hoping it'll work that little kink out with some more shooting.

TEAMRICO

I’m kinda geeking on some Kel Tec myself lately.
Those CP33 mags are a bit costly.

I need to get some more trigger time behind them and find the sweet ammo it likes. Of course it performs with CCI mini mag ammo.

Check out my mag loader mod videos for the P17.

Why did you get a girls bike?

Seriously though, between my wife and myself we?ve owned three of them. Personally, I say racking up miles on a Sportster makes a person more manly and tough than someone racking up miles on a bagger. My wife rode hers to Sturgis and back and that trip would have taken a toll on my body if I rode a Sportster that far.

This latest purchase wasnt cool like all of the things you guys post. It is very needed and VERY expensive. This is what $20,000 worth of seed in bags looks like. 5500# worth. The Ram has no problem with it. 400 acres worth of various grasses. It will be in the neighborhood of $12-16,000 to plant it (with grass drill rental) I already spent about $12,000 spraying out the weeds. All of this and ZERO guarantee it will even come up. Sucks.

We're getting into the hay business. Not big time...just on our little place. But we have 8 acres that produced right at 50 large round bales last year. We didn't fertilize or anything. I just took soil samples to the OSU ag extension office in Ada so they can formulate a fertilizer mix...pretty neat program for $10. We have a line on a Deere mechanical square baler for a good price thru my wife's family. But finding something to cut and rake on the used market it really tough...and even used stuff is expensive. I had no idea how expensive it is to run even a very small farm. Quite an experience...but I'm enjoying it.

This is the nuclear solution to an annoying problem with wind on camping trips:
https://www.johnnyego.com/photography/vincent/scouts/Gear/trango01.JPG
https://www.johnnyego.com/photography/vincent/scouts/Gear/trango02.JPG

By which I meant the tent, not camping in my living room.

Went camping last weekend with the scouts up to Carter Lake. We arrived late Friday night, and had to take a site without tree cover. We got Wyoming level winds which were killing tents left and right. My own beloved Big Agnes Copper Spur didn't take damage, but the poles kept buckling in the nastiest wind gusts. Winds kept changing direction as well, so I couldn't really orient it or guy it into the wind. The other issue is that the winds were strong enough to blow the snow under the rain fly and through the mesh walls, so I woke up to the inside of my tent looking like a powdered donut.

These issues are infrequent, but they have similarly bit me in the rear during camping excursions to Pawnee and Great Sand Dunes, both of which blew fine grit right through the mesh walls of the Copper Spur. This trip was the last straw though. I am a middle aged man with disposable income and an internet connection, so I solved it in the appropriate manner; googling 'expedition tent for high wind and grit'. Which was a fascinating excursion down the rabbit hole of tents for polar expeditions and summiting K2 and Ranier. But of the options I could actually attain at the local REI with the 20% coupon, that left the Trango 3.

11 pounds, 32 possible stake points, solid walls and doors. This is complete, unnecessary overkill. And I love it. Will probably be used four times a year, max, and definitely not for any hike-in trips. But when the others are pouring grit out of their sleeping bags and trying to patch poles with gorilla tape and prayer, I will be sitting in dry, dust and snow-free comfort in my arctic rated tent.

03-30-2023, 19:14
I probably could have, but short of using them to build a rock wall to keep the wind from blowing in the poles and pushing powder through the mesh body, I doubt it would have helped. I didn't have a problem with the tent blowing away; I had a problem with it caving in.

You are not wrong in the least - tho they did indicate that there was 200 pre-built Mark IV ready to ship.
Which does not mean that they will build #201 anytime soon. Only good news is the tech behind the new machine is based on the XL hardware.
Not 100% on the hardware; so your waiting might be a wise move.

There are a few upgrade paths 3.5, 3.9, and 4.0 - pending on how close you want to upgrade your machine to the new system.
The upgrade is not 100% - but then they have not listed the STL files for the upgrade, nor what hardware included in each upgrade path.

If the delay in getting an XL was not as long as it is, I would have done a minor upgrade on my existing hardware and picked up the new XL printer.

Currently at least the 1 print head XL is being unboxed.

The following should be arriving soon...I was going to use the hardware to upgrade my current printer-but I might shift the hardware to the bare MK III instead.

Pasture for my cows, bees and wildlife. We have about 7 antelope that consistently hang around. A herd of maybe 25-26 whitetails and some muleys too. Pheasants and all manner of other birds. I am adding different clovers to help the soils AND feed my bees. The wheat just sucks all of the nutrients out of the soil. Decade after decade until its void of nutrients. This ground should have never been broken out, but that is what they did all over the west whether or not it was smart to.

It is. Solid as a rock, though. I used probably twice the recommended fasteners.

Hindsight, but I might have done something to create a shear load instead of a tension load.

Not sure if the pizza or the Sub 2K is the better score. I have a good time with my Kel-Tec. Fun little gun...

Sucks about the deer...

Won’t have another chance to visit the Salida Gunshop or get some pizza until August when school starts back up!!
Froze half of each for my son when he gets home Monday!
First year at Western complete and a zero balance owed. I’m glad I saved my GI Bill for him.

Interesting, those are just Akro bin wall panels.

https://www.grainger.com/search?brandName=AKRO-MILS~QP&webParentSkuKey=WP13041289&filters=brandName%2CwebParentSkuKey&searchQuery=akro+bin+wall+panel&sst=4

Gonna have to research this solution.

Just for the panels, it looks like Secure-it has better pricing than Grainger (no one every said Grainger was cheap!)

Good eye. I wonder if one could find those elsewhere cheaper. Secure it does sell all the components individually (the bases and barrel rests for the rifles, the pistol racks, etc.) They are definitely cheaper in the package by a lot (I always do the math on that stuff because some companies will bundle and not actually save you any money). The barrel rests are particularly nice with bungie cords to secure the barrel, and there is a spring held option too.

Nice thing about the Akro panels is you can get them in larger sizes and different colors.

To secure to the safe fireboard I discarded the fastners they supplied (basically cheap drywall anchors) and used these instead:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/E-Z-Ancor-Stud-Solver-40-lbs-Drywall-and-Stud-Anchors-25-Pack-25225/202055965

I think the size I actually used might be 25 lb instead of the 40 lb I linked to, they are smaller than the package of 40's I have for comparison.

I definitely overdid it on the fastners, I think I did 16 per panel. My logic was better too much than not enough.

To mount those, I took a utility knife and cut out a small square from the cloth that covers the fire board where the anchor goes, otherwise as you screw those in it grabs that fabric and bunches it all up.

Overall, I'm really happy with the solution.

Yeah, I don't need another firearm either but I'd love to have a 9mm 1911 like that. Good thing I wasn't wearing your shoes that day. Besides, I'd want a threaded barrel....

Not exactly a purchase, but I recently took my little one to the kids intro to firearms class. She was a little scared, but later said she had a lot of fun. For her first time shooting, I was impressed!

I've been collecting parts for a mostly correct Air Force 604 rifle. The last piece arrived at my dealer's shop today. Now it's just a matter of putting everything together. I have a triangle handguard set from Brownell's, too...

I've been wanting one of these Harbor Freight 1000 lb lift tables for years. But they rarely go on sale and when they do, they're never in stock. But yesterday was my lucky day. On sale, in stock, last one. Had to drive 110 miles roundtrip to get it but it was worth it.

I took the truck in to Discount Tire to change the winter tires/wheels to the summer set. They offered me a deal on some wheels that a customer never picked up and sat around for 16 months. My '03 Tundra wheels were looking shabby so I took the Black Rhino Guide wheels in midnight blue for $50 each including lug nuts, mounting and balancing. They each weigh almost 8 lbs. less than the stock alloy wheels.

I'll probably refinish the OEM wheels and not sure I'll keep these but they sure are purty.

Got my order in for the new Work Sharp Pro. The first production run of 450 sold out in 30 minutes this morning (their web site crashed when they tried to start sales a couple days ago). Lots of Youtube videos (Neeves Knives, etc). It's $285 shipped if you use the 10% off code. https://www.worksharptools.com/shop/benchtop/manual/professional-precision-adjust-knife-sharpener/

I always wanted a Speed Graphic 4x5 ‘press’ camera. Great shape with lots of accessories. The flash battery holder is a sought after item, it was used to build Star Wars Light-S93756aber movie props.

Some very good spec on the hardware - tried to use it as an access point for hardware that does not have good WiFi - but it was no go for access point, or even home router.

Uplink speed was well below 100k....most reports would indicate 0 Mbytes. There was some transmitted; otherwise I would never had got to the website to check the speed. It would not even connect to my surfboard modem to use as a home router.

The Asus item back in the box; got the qr code to return it to Amazon.

I already ordered a Mikro Tek as a replacement. The hAP ax3 there have been some reports people getting the older version 2 generation so my fingers are crossed.
