For those of you that don't know, I got my private pilots license a bit ago. This weekend I flew down to Texas in my buddies Cessna with him and my CFI to look at a plane. Ended up flying both of them back.

Its an older, but well maintained 1966 Beechcraft Super Musketeer III. Got a killer deal on it. Full service records all the way back to 1966 when it was new. It needs some cleaning, and the paint is chipped, cracked or faded in many parts, but it is fully safe and airworthy and is great to fly.

I'll be cleaning is up inside and out, refinishing the dash, panel back plate, flap lever and some support braces that have a bit of tarnish. I will decide if this is my long term bird, or just a stepping stone to trade-in on something with more power, nicer avionics and more capable of mountain flying down the road. This one will do mountains, but will need a pretty perfect day to do it safely. If I decide to keep this one long term (more than 5 years) I'll probably invest in getting it re-painted, and some upgrades on GPS and avionics, as they are all pretty old (but still work).

Its at KEIK (Erie) right now. The buddy with the Cessna was nice enough to let me share his Hangar while I find a permanent place to store it. It isn't easy, you have to be on a long waitlist, or really pound the ground looking for people about to sell a plane but wanting to lease or sub their owned hangar, or sublease their leased hangar if you want something sooner.

I'm really hoping to find someone at KEIK that lives in the airpark with a hangar on their house willing to trade flight time for hangar space. Or similar deal for someone that owns a hangar at KBJC.

Yeah that shoots my idea down as well. I only have about 5,280 ft of raw land, and no structure to park on. I'd say you could just land on the road a few feet away and taxi into the fence, but I'm sure that's illegal.

Congrats, my friend.

I've seen a lot of people get things in life that they haven't earned. Nothing wrong with that. But it is so much sweeter to see people get the things they want with time and sweat. It's amazing that you not only accomplished the feat of buying that beauty, but that you earned the right to put it in the air whenever you want to.

Enjoy the skies!

Thats a sweet looking brain bucket. I just picked up an Arai for ATV use and damn I had no idea I'd have to give my first born in exchange. I got matte black case I didn't want to pay 130 more for paint.

I dig the looks of the matte black helmets, I was suprised to find that they're typically not on the higher end of pricing.

That applies to helmets that have been in constant use. . Now you find one that's been in the box / closeout, there's nothing wrong with them. The flip side is one that's new, the wearer took it off and dropped it on the ground a time or two.

Shelf life.
The MRA (Motorcycle Racing Association) didn't allow racers to have helmets on the track that were 5 years old or older.. whether or not it looked new or not... liability reasons maybe?
I was rocking helmets on the track that were at the 5 year mark... the helmet I cracked was at it's 5 year mark.. and it held up well. I did knock off a few bolts upstairs, but the helmet did help keep most of it together [Coffee]

You own an AK not an ARK! You want side folding hardware, i have 1 or 2 different units made for the AK. It allows one to put a Galil type stock on. No modification, no unsightly weight loss, no AR looking furniture. Ignore that long range shooter. He'll steer you in to some high $$ stuff, he wished he could buy.

Finally pulled the trigger and bought a CNC plasma table. I had been debating this for awhile, deciding if I could bring in enough work to keep this table busy. only time will tell. This is a 5'x10' table and I can cut up to 1 1/2" thick steel. And here is a picture of a sign that I made for the front office for the crane company that i work for. It's made from 1/4" plate measuring out at 36" tall by 59" wide.

Holy shit! That beats the crap out of my last equipment purchase! Nicely done.

What's the right deal? I might have a couple of ball lock corny's to get rid of. I quit brewing a while back, but I'll still keep a couple and my co2 setup in case I do again.

Kegging is definitely the way to go. Occasionally, kegconnection.com has reconditioned ball/pin lock kegs for decent price. They look rough but as long as they hold pressure, I don't care.

http://www.homebrewing.org/AIH-New-5-Gallon-Corny-Keg-Ball-Lock_p_5100.html

Picked up 2 of these for my kegging system. Brand new as indicated. Only downside is they are made in China. Hold pressure just fine though, and you will not be able to find a new ball lock for the price they are selling these at. UPS kind of messed up shipping though and they each came with a nice dent in the side of them. Still hold pressure just fine though and cleaning was a lot easier than getting a used keg.

Almost exactly the same amount I wanted to spend on goodies for the new pistol.[emoji107]

Would have cost more if I had not done it myself. Service tech responded quickly and was great to deal with. He has done diagnose only calls for us before and been more than reasonable on rates.

We have also bought appliances from his store.

Considering that I nearly wept with joy at how easy and fast it has made reloading, you are correct in assuming I like it. I just wish I had the same experience with my new Apex trigger. It failed all day at the match today, effectively turning my pistol into a bolt action on a few stages. Nothing like clearing malfunctions AND reloading more often because you keep having to eject live rounds to eat up match time.

So far it is working a heck of a lot better than the Lee manual scale I was working. The Frankfort Arsenal got better reviews (on here anyway) and was about the same price. At under $30, I can afford to try a few considering my scale buying rate has been about one every 5 years now.

I'm using the Frankford Arsenal one. It's been great, but I have found it helpful to re-calibrate it the first time I use it each day. Seems to be a little more repeatable if I do that. Also I've found that if I calibrate it with the backlight on, then turn off the backlight, it throws off the accuracy. Calibrate it the same way you are going to use it (light on or off).

I was going to ask if it was a Tom Servo commemorative, but figured it go over more heads then it already has . Enjoy it.. Our daughter gave us a Cuisinart 4-1 slow cooker. Been using it almost as much as the smoker

All American Canner 41 quart. This one is an older one, built like a tank. $50 on craigslist.

A little cold smoke love.

Was at my inlaws tonight. He just got the same smoker. Has Bluetooth controls as well

Smoke me up a brick or 2 of Mozzarella. i'll supply the cheese and apple wood. Smoke it makes a great addition to pasta salad. Not bad as a stand alone, either.
