Very nice! I loved the Mesa Tactical stock on my 1100 when I had it. How do you like the 930? I want to get a semi auto shotgun again, but don't care for modern Remington's QC.
I really like the JM 930, it's the 24 inch version. I got the stock and red Dot to try out and after setting it up this way I'm thinking of getting the 22 inch and putting the stock and red Dot on the 22 and putting the 24 back to stock configuration.

Man that's nice! Guess you needed something with better snow performance, huh?
Smaller wheel base, narrower body, able to turn around on paths my F-150 had to back down on. Carefully, very carefully. I'll keep it as is till a few other projects on the priority list get tended to.
I am tried at looking at Jeep wrangler unlimited (used) that have been mangled up - but nice to see something with a jeep that did not have bad things done to it.
So in the spirit of buying stuff I don't quite need but kind of want.

It is on order for the full MSRP - but I do get a T-shirt if I am lucky - the combo deal on motherboard was not too bad. Pushed the total price down to something close to what I would pay at MicroCenter in Denver. The stats on the hardware are the exact same as the normal 7 series processor.

But this is the second time I’ve had to replace this switch cluster in less than 5 years. The symptoms this time were as if the tranny went out. Better a switch cluster again though.

You're using it wrong.
Man apparently. Once it bent, there was no getting the strength back into that thing. At first I was using it right under the shaft and I should have been to the side, but with the ease that it bent, I don't think it would have mattered. With just a little hand pressure it smoothly bent out of shape instead of actually doing anything.

You're going to have to either get a can the fits the I.D of that hand guard. Or ..2: replace the hg with one that has a larger I.D 3: shorten that one.

A few small items, wallet, hat, knife. I always thought the "classic" Spyderco designs (in this case a Delica 4) were some of the ugliest knives out there, but after carrying and using this one for a couple days, I can see what the hype is about, very ergonomic, and that ugly blade just works.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190503/1677621d2948f787bff13080be3552d6.jpg

Awesome. The M&P 9 compact striker spring will reduce the trigger pull by a couple lbs. Think the more important bit is that it does not negatively affect reliable ignition. I just learned about this so I had to share. : )

I figured nine months as well. I talked to SiCo about my free can and this was the response I got:
I see you registered your Maxim 9 on 6/26/2018
We are currently working on manufacturing these suppressors. We do have over 11,000 registrations to go through so it will take us longer than expected. However, I can confirm your registration and everything looks good. You are good to go on your end. We have started to ship these back in October and plan to continue shipping these out through the next couple months once the government shut down is over. The ATF is not currently processing forms. At this time we are unable to send cans out to dealers. However, once this ends, they will be shipping out in much larger batches.
So the talk about the .gov shutdown affecting processing times were true. They also stated that they had laid off a bunch of employees due to a slow down and now are basically running a skeleton crew trying to play catch up. Free is Free but it may take two years for you to actually have it in hand when it's all said and done.

Yeah, free is free which is why I haven't been too mad about it but it's bad enough to wait about a year for two Form 4's but to wait what looks like a full two years from the time of purchase for the two freebies is certainly pushing the boundaries of the limit. I'm hopeful seeing you got yours that the wait will pay off and my suppressors will start to trickle in now. Slowly but eventually.
Didn't realize you could just buy LED headlights now. Don't need to mess around with an HID conversion and making sure you have a focus lens and all that. Under $30 delivered on Amazon. The LED cooling fans don't appear to interfere with my radio or CB either. I hear that LEDs don't run hot enough to melt off snow and ice though so I guess I'll find out next winter how big of a deal that will be.

Looking forward to your evaluation of the bulbs.
Me too. My Amigo has old, crappy headlights and you feel like you can't see a thing. I bought a cheapy $25 LED light bar off Amazon a few years ago that is supposedly a driving light/flood light combo. The dang thing throws light in every direction so much that it looks like it's pointed straight at the ground and the bright spot right in front of the truck is kind of blinding and distracting to use on the streets, so I imagine it's just as bad for other drivers. Since I don't use it on the public streets, I'm still stuck with crappy head lights. I'll do some night driving and report back.

Awesome much appreciated. I'd like to get a light bar for the void in my front bumper, as well as replace the stock Pro4x roof lights with LED. So many projects not enough $.
On those LED light bars, I have some friends that did a very deep dive on those and long story short you can get ones that perform like the $600 ones, but for only like $100. One of those 'made in the same factory, but with an off-brand name' kind of thing. I haven't gotten the down low from them, but if you're interested let me know and I will.
The nicer bars you can switch between driving lights and floods and not have them both on at the same time like in my cheapy one. One of my buddies has his wired in such a manner as the light bar can be turned on independently of the headlights like normal, but it also automatically kicks on anytime the headlights are switched to brights.

For that, the cheapy I bought is good as it still throws light out as far, or further as the headlights, but when you click the bar on, it lights up the tops of the trees around you on the trail. Just to give you an idea.
Here is the one I bought. If I had to do it again, I would have spent a little more for something more usable. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KQXKG46/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

After having been burned by using a cheap set of cab LED lights that took a shit in less than a year, I'm hesitant to buy one of the cheaper LED light bars for a mid-bumper application but would be interested in details about this. I'd probably wire mine into the factory fog lights I installed, but also switchable when not needed.
I was actually considering this one: https://www.amazon.com/Rough-Country-70720BL-20-inch-Anywhere/dp/B01NBBYSB0/ref=sr_1_13?keywords=rough%2Bcountry%2Bled&qid=1557354303&s=gateway&sr=8-13&th=1

I bought the light bar on my RZR from Oz-Usa. Cheaper, but not the SUPER cheap stuff. Actually has the pressure breathers and such. If I was going to put it in a bumper, I would have the lens covered in headlight film for the sake of avoiding rock chips.
I checked with my friends and they were dabbling in the light bar market like ten years ago when everything was much more expensive.
Basically Hanma was the Chinese company that at the time was blowing the pants off of other generically priced eBay stuff. He said most of the technology was in the reflector design. Back then he made a bulk purchase ($5,000) of lights which brought the cost of a single 22" bar down to $60 and a 42" bar down to $100. He kept what he wanted and resold everything else. Sounds like this was back when it was several hundred dollars to get anything decent. So I guess there are no secret good deals any more.

My Lacie NAS just died too so I decided to upgrade a little bit myself (not as powerful as yours, but its just a simple media server). I got tired of risking losing data so I'm going RAID this time (thankfully my NAS died slowly so I was able to get one good backup in hours before it gave up the ghost).

My current build is 18tb raw, with 11tb usable, and as I rebuilt, I'm targeting going to 64tb raw, but changing to Raidz3, so roughly 36.5tb usable.
This is my home NAS for personal docs, media, etc, but I have recently become the offsite backup for our company email, cloud, and everything else.
It's getting built into a 3U rack chassis, and then stashed in my rack.

Yeah, that'll fill up faster than you think. For me its just local docs and media (mostly movies, TV and music for my Plex server) so I'm not too worried about it getting full. I'm only using about 1.4TB of space now and I could probably stand to delete some stuff I'm never going to re-watch.

We've got the email backed up on my home nas currently, and it doesn't take that much storage (100gigs or something)...
The nextcloud instance takes some extra space, but at 36.5tb usable, I don't expect to have any space constraints for quite a while.

From this photo I'm guessing you have a reflector housing given the cut-off line or lack thereof. I would HIGHLY suggest removing those as you'll be blinding oncoming drivers. Dropping LED replacement bulbs into a reflector housing is dangerous as these LEDs don't have a pattern like the Halogen bulb does which the reflector needs to have a proper cut-off. You can get away with it in a projector housing if you aim properly after installation.
That being said, your performance will be worse. There was a guy who was some sort of industry expert who did a big write-up on these LED drop-ins and the summary is they're trash for many, many reasons. They don't throw light as far which is the important part of a headlight and not how well it lights up your garage door from 2' away. They also have dead spots and hot spots and aren't uniform at all. Lastly is the life span: not good. Generally LEDs have a longer service life compared to halogens but these cheap Chinese (and even the more expensive ones) bulb replacement units do not have that same attribute. While it's true that the business end doesn't make much heat (LEDs by nature have less heat byproduct than halogen) the driver side makes an obscene amount of heat which is what causes them to fail in many instances more frequently than halogen bulbs.
So in the end you pay more money, get shittier light output and shorter lifespan plus you blind oncoming drivers if you put them in a halogen headlight housing.
Picked up these mostly free Coleman Xtreme cooler off of Craigslist today. Cat for scale. Also got a Save Phace welding helmet for $10.

That's a score. Most tests put those at about 95% the performance of the high end YETI, RTIC, etc. coolers at a fraction of the price. I've been thinking of getting on but haven't yet. Not sure how you got three of them for nearly free but if you end up needing only two, let me know!
A halogen bulb is just a bulb that sends light in all directions, except straight forward, and depends on the reflectors in the headlight housing to direct the light, right?
I'm sensitive to being that guy that just sticks a high output HID bulb in without a projector to focus, which is why I haven't gone that route. Since the LED is putting out light in a similar pattern as the halogen, I'm less worried about blinding others.
Full disclosure, I got one cooler for free, and the other two for $3 each.

Yes and no. It really depends on what bulb type/size it is. Many have the beam pattern built into the bulb itself so then the reflector just redirects that. They have light in certain areas and no light in others specifically for the housing that they go into. LEDs tend to just scatter light wherever and pay no attention to the proper light pattern that halogens emit. The end result of a halogen in the housing is a proper beam with a cut-off across the top to avoid blinding oncoming drivers. LED replacement bulbs in the same housing result in light everywhere which can "look" brighter against a wall but in the real world it's often times less light output with poorer uniformity and it's dangerous because it blinds oncoming drivers.
Full disclosure, I got one cooler for free, and the other two for $3 each.
I'll take the free one. [LOL]
That's why I was saying that in the photo the LED looks more washed out in the picture then in person. You can see a clear demarcation of where the light cuts off and it is very similar in size to the halogen. When I took it out at night and parked at the end of my driveway, the beams were still focused; whereas when I turned on the cheapy light bar, that filled in all the gaps with the flood.
Coolers aren't mine too distribute, I just picked them up for a buddy.

In the photo you can see where the right one is clearly higher where the concentration of light is. All it would take is a little more than an inch higher at that distance before you're blinding oncoming drivers. It's not much. You can try to aim it lower to compensate but then your beam will be so low on the sides that they'd be useless.
What vehicle is this in? Like I said earlier, that makes a big difference but in almost every case you're better off staying halogen or doing a full-blown HID retrofit.
It's in an Isuzu Amigo, so parts are pretty much non-existent, which is why I chose not to do the full HID set-up.

9004
Yeah, those throw a specific light pattern that the reflector housing then bounces back in just the right places. I'd ditch those LEDs post haste and go back to halogens for the moment. If you want a REAL good upgrade that costs much less than an HID retrofit but performs better get yourself a set of Sylvania 100w/80w H4's. They're intended for "off road" use but are bright as shit and keep the same light pattern to avoid blinding oncoming drivers. The bulbs are cheap enough but buy a couple of replacements because they'll burn out quicker than stock wattage halogens due to putting out more heat. Then get a wiring harness that uses your factory plug to switch a relay that then uses heavier gauge wire connected directly to the battery. DO NOT USE THESE WITH A STOCK HARNESS! The added draw/heat/resistance will cause a dangerous situation. Four bulbs and a wiring harness will cost much much less than an HID retrofit but will outperform most all of them in real world use. If you want a real budget upgrade that's what you want to do with your 9004 housings.
Nah. I drive this vehicle like 2,000 miles a year. I'll just keep those.

Lol, if I?m being honest, I?ve never really been a die hard loyalist to either brand, and in fact, I like the OS of the iPhone better, it?s a simpler more streamlined system IMO. My love for the Samsung?s began with the removable battery and expandable memory of the Galaxy S4 and S5, and now all we have left is the expandable memory. The lenses on both versions are still clear so it's not the lens that's smoked. It's just the inside bezel that surrounds the headlight that's "smoked" or more of a black chrome.
So here's the regular ones like you have on your truck:

I'm interested. I've been looking at how to modify my 5'x8' Tractor Supply version of that trailer. The gate doesn't come off, and has to be modified in order to lay flat when you put it forward. It's simple enough to make it detachable, but I'm interested in how you'll do the ramps. I'm also interested in how one goes about adding brakes to a trailer. Someone sold a flatbed on here for a good deal with no brakes and I've been wondering how that works ever since.

I may keep the gate around, but relocate the barrel hinges to be flush with the deck. It's pretty heavy, but would be easy on short trips. Just dont want it there on long runs since it's a sail.

For the ramps, you just weld a piece of angle to the rear as a lip, use some gussets to reinforce the angle. Then you use a few pieces of angle to create the slots to stow the ramps from the side. (I took photos of the other trailers on the lot that had ramps for some of this stuff.)
Brakes: you swap the hubs out on the forward axle, and wire a bit of stuff in. You have to change from a 4 pin to a 7 pin plug, which I will have to do for reverse lights anyway.

Sounds like you bought the one I was talking about.
I was looking at my trailer the other day and if I swap the leaf springs to the top of the axle, I'd probably pretty easily have room to store ramps.

I want to see it when you're done, and in action.
Doing a dye job on 20-21 year old bogu wasn't as fun.
After dye and dry, I need to soak it on water to get excessive dye out. The Men (head armor), Kote (Wrist armor), and Do (Body armor) came out great. The Tare (upper leg and groin armor) came out little crappy.
Now..Where as in action as doing kendo, the medium Bogu (armor) does not fit me anymore. I probably need to sell this and get a Large or XL.
Will post the finished dye job when dried. :)

I have no idea what the Freedom barrel is. It's just a standard .308 upper as far as I know. With the lower and transfer fee I'll only have $450 into a complete .308 rifle. Couldn't pass it up any longer. Besides...I need another rifle I won't shoot.
Oh whoa, I was thinking another .223. For only $450, that's tough to pass up....

New sprinkler timer.. Home depot (and amazon) have the 6 zone version for $79, or 12 zone version for $99, and Denver Water (and probably others) offers a $75 rebate on it if you are upgrading from an older "non-smart" timer. This one has stuff built in to delay watering if rain is forecast for your area. Works with a smartphone app, really nice when working on sprinkler heads to be able to turn zones on/off right from your smartphone.

So far I'm loving it... Took about 10 min to install it in place of my old one. The phone app setup was pretty simple, and the phone UI is easy to use. There is also a web interface you can access from your PC.
Looks like you can have 3 "active" programs running at once. And each program selects a set of zones, and the runtime for those zones. And each program can have multple start times. I haven't played with that feature yet, but looks like it'll do it. Just tested it with a sample program that ran a zone for 1 minute, with start times set for 8:35pm and 8:40pm, and it ran them both perfectly.

"O" is dead on spring rate. "+" Is within spec but slightly higher spring rate. "-" is also within spec but slightly lower. Usually people put the "+" on the driver's side so the weight of the driver makes up for much of the "+" rate.

Bingo. Generally they will put them out in a +/o or o/- config if not +/+, o/o or -/- config to make it good for balance. IMO since you drive solo 90%+ of the time you actually want one of the staggered options.
All this suspension talk makes me a little bit sad already that I just took a deposit on the Tacoma and it will probably be out of my garage in the next few days. Le sad.

Taking it to get aligned tomorrow.
If I sold springs I?d just label them L and R to avoid confusion.
Of course you?d be surprised how many people don?t know which side of their vehicle is left or right.

Edit: meant to address this post directly yesterday but god side-tracked.
The first time I ever did a set of springs it didn't come with any instructions either so I don't know if they just assume this is common knowledge or what. I guess most people have a shop do the work and I'm sure they're aware of this since they work with them every day but the average consumer wouldn't have any way of knowing.
Yeah, it's going bye bye. Still here as of this post so I can visit it in the garage and say my long good-byes but I think it's going to have a really good home. The proverbial "dog went up state to live on a big farm and run free" story w/o the shotgun. Younger fella that is into these sorts of trucks and is looking for something that is more of a turn-key that was well-cared for. I'm happy with what I got for it and he's happy for what he paid but I can already feel the regret building and that will probably spike once he takes delivery and I have a large empty space in my garage where it once sat.

This makes me sound like I'm bragging about money. It's the opposite. I rented this lift because it was half the price of what I would have been quoted to trim my tree, and I did two of them. I was more commenting on how with zero experience, they let me drive off with a lift.
I was running an 85ft manlift last week. I found it much more enjoyable than the 100ft one they rented for me last year. (Not tree related)
I should have taken pictures years ago when I took down the giant cottonwood in my front yard. I started on the roof of my house with my extension ladder fully extended to get me into the top part of the tree. It was scary enough that once I got to the top of the tree I used a harness and tied myself off to avoid falling to my death while running the chainsaw. And, no... the chainsaw wasn?t on loan from a forum member.

I took it as you explained here.
It is astounding what they will rent to folks with no proof of anything... Did they send you with a harness? They get really suspicious when I tell them I have my own. Only once have I been asked to prove it, and when I showed them my climbing harness, the old guy behind the counter piped up with something along the lines of "leave that guy alone, he knows what he's doing"... Kinda made me chuckle, and got to chatting about climbing...
Man lifts are... fun... I so prefer good towers, less wobbly...
Used a 125' diesel drive-able one in WY a month ago. It wobbled like all the others...
I told them I had my own harness, which I do. What I didn't have, and one of my many awesome neighbors came to the rescue with, was a fall arrestor, or whatever it's called. They were more concerned with having me tow it with my Amigo. They finally let me after I had two friends on the line to come and get it for me. I was only driving on surface streets so only went a max of 40 mph, but it was probably too heavy. Most of the safety training was them telling me about the people that had died on them. Exact quote, "Yep, many weekend warrior have ended their lives on this machine." I was like, "THIS machine? Is it haunted?" Then the guy explained that they have one on the lot under a tarp right now because a guy killed himself on it and it's still under litigation. Said the guy worked all day, probably got complacent, then ran the lift up right into some overhead power lines and ended himself. That's a real shame. Needless to say, they scared me appropriately.

It's not the height so much as it is the everything else. I can crouch down on the edge of three+ story roof and chalk the gutter and be fine. But if the whole entire house was moving the entire time, it'd be a different experience.

It's not the height so much as it is the everything else. I can crouch down on the edge of three+ story roof and chalk the gutter and be fine. But if the whole entire house was moving the entire time, it'd be a different experience.
I wouldn't know. I didnt get the opportunity to try your lift. : p

Snip...
Said the guy worked all day, probably got complacent, then ran the lift up right into some overhead power lines and ended himself. That's a real shame. Needless to say, they scared me appropriately.
Despite my comments in the Electric Subpanel/Permits conversation, electricity takes a lot of people that have no idea what they are doing.
Most people have no idea about "minimum safe distance" based on voltage levels, and the certainly have no clue what the typical voltages of overhead lines are...
The amigo is a little small, but if you are careful (as you described being) it's fine.

Commentary on Fall arrest systems:
Don't trust the retractable fall arrest lanyards. DO NOT!
They have a documented history of failing to the detriment of those who use them. The only reason they haven't been perma-banned is because the fine print of the documentation says that they only work within +/- 2-5 degrees of straight down... Anything outside of that, and they could (do) fail.
They were developed for steel workers, and designed to be on tracks above the worker, so they would simply roll along and stay nearly exactly above. Man lifts and "off position" work are a no go.
The stitched lanyard style don't offer the range of movement, but they will safely decelerate your body weight and keep you from hitting the ground...
/safety rant...

Tow behinds suck when they are brand new.
After having been rode hard and put away wet in the rental world??? They suck even worse.
This one would move 12-18" side to side with a light breeze blowing...

125' Monstrous bugger...
Deceptive because it's proportionally big, but the thing is massive. The top of the grey engine cover and the blue metal pivot point is easily 10-12' tall...

After the company man left, yes, I took it to 125'...
Way not cool compared to a tower...
Neighbor on the street was telling me that in order to get lift certified they had to take one of those straight up all the way, and turn it in a full circle and come down. No thanks.

Oh yeah. That looks delightfully horrific.
A shop warming present from Mr. Woodworker himself JE, always much appreciated. Or as the spouse calls it a nice pen & pencil holder:)
The mag holder has small magnets in to to "stick" to the base.

This was actually about a month ago. She is with ITF (International TKD Federation), but I bought a WTF (World TKD Federation).
So, she is the only kid who is wearing the WTF TKD uniform ,and other are wearing ITF. LOL
Thankfully the instructor and masters did not care. One of the only TaeKwondo place that masters are not trying to rip off parents.
It Thornton TKD is also associated with city of Thornton, and you can register it with city activities guide. It is about 20% of the price of regular TKD/Jujit/Karate/Judo/Kendo classes.

I was on a basic scissor lift 25' inside the shop. Not being one for heights and having to extend it to get in to the tight corners of the interior roof. If it wasn't my shop and my electrical guy said No you can't use it after i'm gone. There's no way in hell i'd ever climb on a basic one, let along one going 40 - 125' in the air.
However once over coming the fear and said fuk it,. There's nothing like doing donuts on new concrete.
I like being up high. Probably because it is scary. Go figure.
So *that's* why you always volunteer to hold targets at the Pueblo matches! :)

Actually it was a purchase of 36 poptarts. Some kind of deal on amazon, $5 for a 36 pack.
Ordered them back in May, supposed to be prime shipping. A week later, got a notice that the item was lost in shipment, so they'd ship some more. Then a week later got a notice that they were now out of stock and amazon cancelled the order and refunded me my $5. Then today, about 6 weeks later, UPS shows up with my box of poptarts, and required a delivery signature. Outer package was pretty beat up, lots of extra packing tape. Tracking number doesn't reveal where they've been. Poptarts seem to be mostly intact.

I love amazon. I just bought some tools that will be here tomorrow (gotta love prime). A rounded bolt extractor set and some long overdue magnetic pickup tools. I can’t count how many times or curse words that have been said when I’ve dropped a nut/bolt working on my projects. These would have saved me hours of labor and time.

Date code on outer box has April 2020. They'll be long gone by then. Can't find a date that actually says when they were packed, I'd imagine the shelf life on these is pretty long.
It hasn?t arrived yet but I did purchase it.
A special shout out and thank you to SouthPaw for his help in tracking it down for me.

Is the "Bang!" flag sold separately? :D
Looks neat. How long is the barrel? Is it a legit Buntline? I'm not into pistols enough to know the minutiae of models like that, so I find this stuff interesting.

I like the flag idea.
It's a 16" barrel.
Picked it up solely for a silly and hopefully fun range toy and conversation piece.
It's nothing special really. Just a cheap Heritage Rough Rider in 22LR. It set me back a whopping $180 including the free shipping. Transfer fees will have me a little over $200 total investment.

Glad you finally got one! I picked it up for the same reason and then I got another for old lady. Easily the most talked about gun the safe lol.
