Until I installed the new WAP, I didn't realize my old firewall was limiting me so much.
In the end, it cost a bit more than a run of the mill consumer grade WiFi router, but still less than some of these monsters I've seen. However, the performance is expected to be better and I do like the modularity. The USG software has been significantly enhanced recently and it only took me a few minutes to get it up and running with the UniFi controller, upgraded, and get a simple ftp inbound service setup for a work related function.
So far, very happy.

Possibly steering you to a place that shows how to verify actual lead content. Not that it matters, as it seems your going to be mixing for hard cast bullets.
OR you have an ex wife issue.

Actually use it for aircraft ballast. I don't reload. Seems like this route would be kind of expensive if I did. $54 per 27lbs brick from Atlas Metals. One will probably find its way into the tray of my Lead Sled though.
I really wanted to buy an used one from CL, but step grandpa wanted us to buy her new.

I just searched what that was. I don't think she is into that yet. If she does, I will let you know. It is just matter of when it catches her eye at Walmart/ToyRUs/retailers.
That's how we ended up with one. It's just been sitting outside for a year now. Once they learn to ride a real bike, they move on quick.
She outgrew her 1st bike and we sold it on CL. lol
Since then she didn't even ask us to get a bigger one. I don't think she was really into bicycle. :(
As for Huffy Green Machine, if she builds interest, I will PM you. Maybe we can trade something for it. :D
Yeah, we can trade my Green Machine for getting it the F out of my backyard, haha. I'm not trying to hard sell, just thought I'd mention it since it's about the same age as Power Wheel stuff.

I saw that link the other day when I was looking it up. I laughed. Only 90% of the industry uses Xactimate. Without even reading it I can tell it is some contractor click bate BS. That's what supplements are for!
Also, yes, exactly like that Green Machine.

Oh man, don't even get me started on buying a drone. I was looking into that as well. I'm going in so many directions right now that I'm probably not even going to bother with drone stuff for now. My current company is trying to corner the market in their field with drones, and I'll let them. I kind of want one anyway though.

Used, but in very good condition. Only thing I don't like is how heavy it is, but I suppose quality/not having it sway like crazy requires more material.
Is that the 27'? There is no getting away from the weight at that size, especially if it has something like a 300lb weight limit. 27' is very tall for a ladder that you can A-frame.
It's the 25'. Its step ladder max is like 15' and extension is 25'.
That ladder is much heavier than a 24' aluminum extension ladder, but is much more versatile. With it being shorter, it's easier to use around the house as well. If you're only going to own one ladder, it should be that one.
Yep. It's very versatile. Already put the smoke detector back up that I'd knocked down while playing ball in the house.

That's a lot of equipment just to charge your phone, Stu.
It actually is to charge my phone, and my tablet. I'm not very good at the equations, so hopefully it's too much, rather than not enough.
I made a small solar charger to charge my phone when I'm camping in the back county.
Not that I get any service but more so I can use it for pictures and video.
I'll probably make a build thread and get help from everyone before me. The plan is this is going on the roof of my van. I spend a lot of time using both my phone and tablet, and I find that the inverters I get aren't really that great. This is largely experimental, but I'd like to have something that can be dedicated to just keeping my electronics charged while I'm out driving around (mostly during the day). Eventually I may start needing to bring my laptop as well. Plus, having an extra battery on board (even a tiny one) will be kind of nice. How small was the one you built for camping?
The panel is about 12" long and 4" wide. Or somewhere there abouts.
Small enough to pack along but big enough I wouldn't pack it if there was a lot of hiking involved.

The taco triggered my memory. It was actually a torta. I thinks that's Mexican for "sandwich". I got it off the roach coach that parks by the bottling company over near where I work.
Still can't remember any specs from my little solar panel though.

I know, one wouldn't think in today's society it cost that much to convert paper to precious metals.

A regular car charger won't keep your items charged? Why not a dedicated backup battery? I have one that will run a laptop or any other item that is 22000 mah.

I really need to hang one of these next to my air line reel on the garage ceiling.
I wish I could figure a way to convert an older air reel my son gave me to electric. Been tripping over this one in the garage now for a year.

Yeah, this scope is overkill, but its the only spare one I had for it. Cant really use past 6x on the NV clip-on anyway. This will only run subs with the 338 TB on the end.

Damn!
Had my eye out for one for many year's. Deer hunted with an M44 as a kid growing up in the north woods of WI. Brother pawned dads guns when I was overseas.
Ours would have been a little older. I've seen them pop up from time to time on GB well north of $800, more often than not without the sling mount option or the stocks are all beat to shit.
Needed another pistol light, and got it for a really good price.

Yes they are, I wouldn't worry with 45 ACP, but the cast frame may not hold up with full house 10 mm loads, and why else get a 10 mm but to shoot full house loads ?

They have a nice S&W 325 PD Airlite and a 325 Thunder Ranch, plus a Browning 1910 in 7mm and a FN SLP shotgun. All are consignments and sellers appear motivated to sell.

That's the one.
Old School Cool. 1978 S&W 28-2 snubbed and converted to .44 spl possibly/probably by Jovino's Gunshop in NYC (it opened in 1911, was THE gun shop for l.e. in NYC). In the 70s they converted a few N frames, usually model 25s in .45acp or .45 Colt, in to these big bore snubs. S&W eventually saw the light and brought out the 24-3 3" snub through Lew Horton Distributing before making it a stock model (also in the 624 stainless gun). This one has all the signs of being out of this shop-the style of barrel work, the ball detent lock up in the yoke, the trimmed hammer i.e. It did have some issues but a quick visit to a shop I trust got it squared away, the action slicked up and now it will ride on my hip now and then though mostly be a fun range blaster.
I also have a pair of old style Pachmayr Compacs (no medallions) of the type these usually wore. The frame is rounded to K frame dimensions.
By the way for you movie buffs in the film "Serpico" that shop is where he went to buy his Browning Hi-Power when he felt things were going bad for him the PD.

SAWEET!
I now understand why you flipped the plastic .45
Nice snag.
ETA: PM me when you're ready to sell this one.
Doc, I really like that, cool the way the barrel shroud was rounded on the end. Does the barrel have 44 spec on it? Nice job with the blue on the barrel matching the satin finish of the standard 28’s.
Thanks, sorry Dave my younger son has already laid claim to it LOL. Yes the barrel is marked properly on the left side. I'd guess the original customizer shortened a model 24 barrel from both ends to get the markings centered. The friend I got it from had it reblued so everything matches perfectly. It was pretty cloudy out this morning so this was a quick pic indoors with the obvious flash. I'll get a better one tomorrow when we're supposed to have nicer weather.
I was wondering if they ever made factory snub barrels for the 24, or is that barrel even shorter that a standard snub?
I always wanted a custom Smith but every time I go over to the S&W forum they convince me that customs have no resale value. And I’m one who could never take a perfectly good Smith and slice it up, even if I knew it would be nice when done. Someday I’ll find one laying on a table and buy it just for fun.

In 1983 Lew Horton Distributing arranged with S&W to bring out a 3" round butt gun, product code 100787. It's reported that 5000 were made (24-3 models which meant the pinned barrel design was no longer used). From 1985-'87 Smith produced another 5000 or so in the stainless 624, product code 103583 for the first 100 that had special laser engraving denoting a special edition, product code 103580 was the product code for the remaining run.
Both of these are out there, usually from $800 on the very low end (no box, sometimes without the Combat Stocks that were standard) up to $1200-$1400 depending on the accessories and condition. Not really that hard to find if you want to drop that kind of coin.
Those guns shouldn't be confused with the 24-6 brought out in 2007 which have a 3" barrel, square butt frame and the internal lock (despised by most of us old farts LOL).
Jovino's did mark some of their guns "Effector" though most are not. Most Jovino guns, like mine, are a tad under 3". Austin Behlert was also doing a similar conversion at the time though every one I've seen has his name on it somewhere.
The first time I became aware of them was in 1978 when I met a federal official that had one made up from the shop with a gun shipped directly to Jovino's from S&W. There was a gun writer a number of years ago, Leroy Thompson, that I believe was one of the first to write about them. I've found other articles he's written-as late as 8/16 so I guess he's still around-was a real "been there, done that" kind of guy, haven't found any of his article's about them. If I wanted to drop $75 bucks for a S&W historical letter and wait 6 months I could find out if this one shipped there but frankly at this point in time I'm not doing so.
Marine24, yup, even without being able to prove the provenance I do believe it's one of them as it matches perfectly with every other one I've seen. I was offered a .45acp version last summer but at the time I had other expenses to deal with. Today, well, life is too short to shoot ugly guns LOL.
Thanks Doc, good info. I have been collecting K and J frames for some time and have just developed a new interest in N frames. As usual with Smith’s there’s a lot to learn, and I know you are a good source, so I will pick your brain every chance I get. Thanks again.

I think they sold out ~500 in a little over 24 hours. No one knows if they will be selling more but rough estimates say there were around 5K manufactured by Colt for the USMC.

Yeah, a bit of a feeding frenzy on these. I was lucky, had a friend that notified me for both batches so was able to get in on both of them. Yes, I could flip it for a crazy profit, but my interest in these is longer term.
Only 728 of the "well loved" ones, and 451 of better condition ones have been released. So far, this seems to be it.

I was in a equipment store the other day, getting parts for a small engine repair.
On the wall was a Stihl chainsaw with what looked to be a 5' to 6' bar on it. I've never seen anything like that. They said they sell one or two a year. Sticker price $2189.

The kid on Building Alaska is using one to cut some huge driftwood down to manageable size he can haul to his bush mill. He said his worst fear is the chain coming off and wrapping around him.

I was told that it takes more energy to run the chain around the bar than it does to cut the tree. So I figured a smaller bar will give me more power and a longer engine life.

I feel blown away lucky. It probably sold for close to $5K new. We love the simple elegant Scandinavian/Danish modern but couldn't afford it new. Some people who bought it 15-20 years ago are now passing it on. Occasionally a bargain shows up. Tired of old hand me down family stuff, I'm in collector mode after high end Scandinavian design pieces. I'm enticed by the George Jetson stuff too, but seldom is it practical or comfortable enough to buy.

New Meter.
I let the magic smoke out of my last meter while playing with super caps as a motorcycle battery, so I bought this one off of eBay, which is a genuine fluke, but made for China only, so it's cheap.
Very comparable to a $400-500 Fluke, but only cost $119 on eBay. The manual is in Chinese, but the meter is great.

It's a 10mm with a couple of aesthetic touches I liked. Dan Wesson will not go all the way down the customization path like Brown, Wilson, or even Springfield's custom shop. But they were willing to do a couple things I liked that subtly set it apart from an off-the-shelf Valor.

Colt Wiley Clapp CCO, previously enjoyed. Original owner swapped out the ignition parts for those from John Harrison, as well as Novak front night sight with Heinie low mount single tritium dot rear sight. He had different VZ grips on it, I put on these. This set-up of a Commander barrel/slide with Officers frame has always seemed to be the best configuration for a 1911 ccw piece to me. Ran a few rounds through it on Sunday, 100% function and shot great. Came with the box/papers, all original parts (except the grips) a Wilson mag, McCormick mag in addition to the two Colts.
Excellent fit/finish, tight barrel lockup, no rattles at all.

Very nice, Doc. I have the Wiley Clapp Government, and like it a lot. That's a good looking grip combination on that gun.
I picked up a Vortex Spark AR for my semi-functional, unreliable .22lr gun, so that I will reduce my FTE time between targets in competition. I wasn't prepared to be impressed, because I am a snobby Aimpoint/EOTech kind of guy, but first impressions are that it is a nicely constructed sight for the price point.

Nice gift.

Needed a new EDC bag and was surprised what it would hold in the ccw compartment.
Very nice. Which one is it?

If you get a chance, I'd love to see a video of that thing in action.

I'll try, the suppressor should tame the recoil down some. I should of recorded how quiet my bolt action 300blk with the tbac-338 can on it was.

I'm curious to see how quiet mine is with the Form 1 can on it. What trigger are you using on that?

Just an ALG Combat trigger, searching for a geissele that works with 9mm bolt.
