Since when have you had an airplane?
I don't have one. Friend is working hard on his license and wanted some dead weight. (and company) I've never been in a small plane before. Was a good time.
You ever need a safety pilot, just let me know.
Will let you know. Just trying to help out a friend. Gave him some fuel $ for the ride.

Could be, fuel truck was running all around KBJC. Topped off the tanks so there wasn't a need to re-fuel in pueblo KPUB.
Flew down, met a couple of co-worker chicks and they took us to town for a late lunch. Then back to KBJC. Awesome day, smooth ride.
Just happened to get a photo of my house. See if you can find it!

You have to have your Private pilots license and 200 hours of pilot in command before you can get a Commercial license. Somebody that is building time usually loves to have someone for company especially if they will pay for the gas.
I think this also may hold true for an Instrument rating.

This wasn't a commercial flight though. It sounded like the PIC had solo'd, but didn't have his license yet. Just asking the question.

250hrs for a CPL. Under FAR part 61. Reduced numbers if you do it under part 141.
You have to have 50hrs PIC X-country time and 40hrs simulated/actual instrument to get your IR part 61. These are what I'm working on now, hence the offer to trade safety pilot time to build simulated IMC.
Also, for an ATP, the highest level of license, you need 1500hrs, plus 300hrs XC unless you meet one of a few exemptions that lower it to 1250 (military pilot for example)
I'm sure his friend is working towards one of these licenses, but already has his PPL, and that's why he is building time.
And here I sit at lowly 180 hrs, but did that in only 14 months.

Beats my 138 logged hours. Last hour I logged was in 2007. I fly right seat with friends and family every chance I get, but I don't have time, money, or reason to get current again right now. Other priorities will keep winning out for a least a few more years.

Yep, something like that. Already PPL and needing to build time for whatever is next. He's doing/done with Instrument and working on the Twin engine stuff, but all is just time and money. (literally has neither) Working 2nd job to pay for training and fuel, which he has no time for because of work. Circle of life?
This was a cross country "technically" for those hours he's a bit short on. It's odd to think a 100 mile trip is cross country, but it is.

^^^ my buddy has one just like this even same color, man do these things want you to let the clutch out and give it gas! I would only drive in the neighborhood so I wouldn't go over 100 mph. Ride safe!
Congrats!!!!
I had a 02 R1 and IMHO they are simply the best bike on the road! Last day I had mine I hit 127 coming home form the fed center (3am) and hit that speed from Kipling to wads....the R1 is a beast!

I agree and thank you!! I have had 9 street bikes in the seven years that I have been riding and this is my second R1. I have tried a lot and the R1 is really tough to beat. IMHO, they have always been ahead of the game on looks and technology. The dual underseat exhaust just looks badass and the front end speaks for itself. The power this thing deliveries is amazing. It is well tuned down in B mode but crank it up to A mode and it runs like a cheetah on cocaine. My record ('04 R1) was 179mph on a closed course in Mexico. It still had more to give but I ran out of road. I'm not nearly that ambitious anymore to try that again but I have a feeling this bike will do that in a much faster time than it's previous generations.
This was the old girl here. Don't mind the racing slick on the back, I was young dumb and full of... I got tired of replacing tires because I think that year I picked up three good size nails all within a few months of each other.

^This. I have a '96 M3 and they have the same issue. $5-700 in parts and a few hours and everything can be replaced. The 5 series might be a bit more but these older BMW's aren't that hard to wrench on. Outside of that, the VANOS going out and the rear camber eating up tires, they are good to go. I've always liked those e39 5-series.

If you haven't yet, inspect the cooling system. Those are known for grenading around 100k but it's easily fixable just don't want you to get stranded. 5series is a great car.
We bought a 2000 528i for our grandson last year, and it's rapidly turning into a steaming pile. I'll never own another BMW.

Radiator, expansion tank, hoses, thermostat housing, water pump, to be 100% safe. For the e36, kits run $5-700 and only takes a few hours. Pay attention to the temp needle. BMWs are designed to have the needle stay in the middle for a range of temperatures. You won't see it move from dead center until after temps are exceeding 230 degrees or so. If you wait too long to shut it down while over heating, you risk damaging the head/head gasket. The m/s series engines are sensitive to over heating so if that needle moves, shut it down.

There is SOME truth behind this. BMW's are no different then any other vehicle make. They leak, they have problems, and they need repairs. The difference comes down to the parts are more expensive, there are more labor hours to fix things and depending on who you go to, the hourly labor rate is more expensive to work on these cars. A lot of shops will say they can work on BMW's but they are a special kind of breed and require more of a specialized shop. I worked at BMW/MINI for a few years and I learned quite at bit about these cars. They are reliable, very luxurious but as stated earlier, they are expensive to maintain. If we you want the best fuel mileage, get some wheels like Kazoo!

And yet I've personally seen several BMWs make it past 250k with just the recommended maintenance and good care. Hopefully you're wrong! I have all the recent maintenance records and over the last 3 years, less than $1000 was put into it (and that was a couple of expensive trips to the stealership for the above mentioned radiator parts and service). Hopefully any necessary repairs won't cost more than $8000/year... because that's how much my current car payment and depreciation is costing me.

The grandson's steaming turd is in the shop right now for overheating and a head gasket, thank God we bought a service contract with it. The assurance co. is just going to replace the engine rather than risk fixing the boat anchor that's in it.

I'm looking for a little more security than a soft top will afford. I took a look at RealTruck.com, interesting, but the entire first page of tops each had exactly 4.5 stars in the reviews. Ray might be a great guy, but he's pissing down my back and telling me it's raining. Not a good start to a business relationship. I've kinda got it narrowed down to Leer or Century (same mfg. line, different stickers at the end of the line) for a hard topper, and the Bak-flip or the same hard tonneau from a different name for a tonneau. This is harder than I thought it would be. I've got to get this right, I'll likely have this thing for the next 15 years at least.
I've got the Bak-flip Fibermax and absolutely love it. If you go that route, get the Fibermax or F1 as they won't dent from hail.

I recently purchased a 2006 Silverado. It came with a standard fiberglass topper that I figured I'd end up selling on Craigslist. Instead, I'm finding that I really like having it and other than not being able to crawl in the bed from the sides to retrieve things, it's very convenient. I don't think I'd like a tonneau unless it was one of the kind that rolled back completely out of the way. I wouldn't want a tip-up tonneau.
Either way, congrats on the new Tacoma. Fancy!
EDIT: I just looked at those folding tonneau covers. That's pretty cool. I could own one of those.

I ordered one when they started the 'promo'. Showed up a week ago today. It's nice for the price. Light and handles well. Would be great for someone with smaller hands. The rail is thin. I really like how it "feels". I thought it was a mid-length. Guess I didn't look closely enough at the description.[facepalm]Just need to add a SSA-E and T1.

You're going to have to have Kwando do that. It's his paper weight.
You saying there's something in the bag? I thought it was a high-tec cardboard shipping container complete with foam padding and a plastic vapor barrier.
Mike at Bowers handed me an X95 the other day. I actually kind of liked it. And I don't like the Tavor at all. Good thing the one he had wasn't FDE or I might have just bought it and figured out how to pay for it later.

Ouch! My FFL quoted me over $200 cheaper then that (has to order it though). The ridiculously over priced dealer here in down (Family firearms) has them for over $2k [facepalm]

I got an offer I couldn't refuse on my Duramax...and since I don't really need it any longer I "downsized" (in cost and maintenance) to this. 04 2500HD LS with the 8.1L (496CI) and the Allison 1000. 95k and change on the odo and in REALLY nice shape. Best part is, no more payments. Had enough equity on the 2014 to pay cash for this. Pretty much the same capability at a fraction of the cost. I'm happy:

Ooph! Payments will come in the form of gas. Given the current oil prices and the cost of that old bow tie you had, I'd say you did good! Those BBC's are some torquey sob's. Let's just hope oil stays cheap.
If you ever find your way back and want to ditch the bug guard for a clear bra, I know a guy who will take care of ya.
Eliminating payments HAS to be one of the best feelings second only to not having any at all.

23.1 seer / 1.5 T on heat approx 1T cooling (14K cooling- 18K heat)
The shop (for those not familiar) is approx 700 sq. ft. Foam Insulated (approx R-14). Could i have gone bigger, for more efficient HVAC, sure. . It's what our budget allowed and the timing (money wise) was right. Thanks Dad ;)
The Mitsubishi units are the best mini splits in my opinion. They have a heat pump that will work down to -13 degrees outside. Not to shabby....

I wouldn't waste your time or money. The total before our birthday discount and taxes was $136. I had the Elk and two Quails combo for $41. Wife had the special which is Ostrich for $35, then you can match it to anything else on the menu for a combo. She matched with the alligator tail from the appetizer menu for an additional $10. We ordered the rattlesnake queso app for the kid and that was $22. I didn't think any of the meal was good except for the quail and the cocktail sauce that the alligator tail came with. The elk just tasted like grill marks, the wild rice that came with mine was way too salty (and that's saying a lot coming from me), the caesar side salad was just lettuce and dressing. Limp lettuce and probably some mass produced dressing that was...off. It was fun to go and eat different stuff, but the taste to price ratio was appalling. It's the oldest restaurant in Denver and has a lot of cool animals on the wall. They advertise that many of their mounts are over 80 years old. What that translates to though is that a lot of them are pretty poorly done. They do have stuff you're not used to seeing mounted though, like all kinds of birds (including some ducklings), some monkeys, small animals like weasels, a whale penis, and some full cats and bears. I couldn't recommend anyone going there and would never take someone from out of town to eat there.
A side note, my wife loved the Elk and Ostrich especially and thought it was all at least fun and interesting. Kid had a lot of fun and asked a lot of ridiculous questions. There was a guy upstairs at the bar singing folk songs live. Fun atmosphere. I'm not a "foodie" of any kind, nor a food snob, but I'd take a $21 steak from Columbine Steak House any day over what we had.
Bought the wife an early Mother's Day present.
