New to me Gen 3 Glock 21SF with factory night sights, 3 mags (1 w/2+ base pad), box etc. Woohoo, it's the first Glock that I actually like how it feels in the hand and in my favorite caliber. Added the Talon grip wrap and extended slide release. It is supposedly part of a small number that came with the ambi-mag release (?). Never been a fan of other Glocks I've tried but can't wait to hit the range with this hardly used model.

No prob. It may need to be after the holidays, but just shoot me a PM...

Not as cool in the light of robocop, but I'm pretty happy with this 590A1. I got it at a price I was really concerned would be a scam, but not so much that it wasn't worth risking it. Showed up last week and I finally got to take it out, I'll need to find a front mag cap sling swivel stud but beyond that I'm loving it. Edit: will also be having it threaded for chokes sometime soon (hopefully).

Everyone I know that owns a PT111 G2 swears its an awesome CCW gun (if you can get past the trigger pull).

I think the thing with Taurus is that if it works its awesome but the instant it breaks you have to deal with the nightmarish Taurus Customer Service Dept (although I hear they have improved somewhat ... but they're no S&W or Ruger that bends over backward to help you out and get your gun back to you ASAP).

At that price point, it seems like a no brainer.

My dad bought the same bench and complained what a PITA in the as it was! Honestly, probably a good solid four hours of assembly time and an one hour of trial and error.

Very soon! I am a little embarrassed that it has been at least 6 months (or better) since I have been shooting. All of my tools, cleaning supplies, gun stuff, etc has all been sitting in storage for awhile and I am now just getting around to unboxing everything. I did spend time cleaning some AR's just to get back in the rhythm of things.

This is our "lake house" on wheels. I've plumb worn out the 2004 rig. It's the same length +around 2K lbs. We gave up some room and closet space in the BR for a nicer living area. 3 slides, 12 cu double door fridge, premium suspension setup, and the Firefly automated landing and takeoff system. (I had already dubbed my friend's monster Forest River the Millennium Falcon).

I might have to do some more mods to the truck, and I need a better hitch. Rig also needs a beefier hitch for the boat. Will see how much life my trans has in it...

Yea, they have an Cardinal, 37 foot or so. 2014 or 15 MY I think? Runs 15-16K I believe depending on the load out.

Now they have to take two trucks to haul the rv and boat to the lake.

I'm still trying to triple. I think I'm going to be around 16K. Smaller boat ;-)

Looking at new hitches and a cushioned pin box now too, tired of the chucking.

Akebono EUR918 EUR919 Brake pad. Decided to go with Akebono.
I am tired of cleaning the wheels every week from oem or performance brake pads.

(stock photo)
https://i.imgur.com/cWaxNAC.jpgI ran those pads for a while on my MINI. For me they lacked bite but they didn't dust at all. I went back to EBC reds.

Thanks for the feedback. The car forum members said the exact same. I ran oem and performance (ones that squeeks very loud and generate dusts). I will definitely miss the better braking, but I will clean wheels less for a tradeoff. :D

I did get a nastygram from COAR15 about my inbox when you tried to PM me.

I honestly didn't have time to research them before the show and had never heard of them. I was leaning Forest River, with an eye also on Jayco, but they just didn't have a floor plan/setup that interested me enough. I specifically went looking for Windish to see what they had there for Forest River and we really fell in love with the 303RLS when we saw it and it seemed like much more bang for the buck than the others.

Online reviews were mixed, but seemed more positive for the later MY's. I'd be interested in your experiences and that of the group in general.

I still feel good about the decision, no buyers remorse (yet), just some slight trepidation about my total GVWR rolling down the road. Not from a safety aspect, just hate to abuse my truck. I'll be running triple with a 20' SeaDoo jet boat.

What does one do at a Rally?
I don’t have a GD, but a much smaller Forest River of another brand, and I know that “FROG” (or whatever) has these “rallies” -but other than having the same brand of RV, I can’t anticipate I’d have tons in common with the mass. Not beyond the obvious, but you meet nice people at every campground.

Pat each other on the back?

LOL, j/k.

Actually, I looked and registration is closed, so it musta been full up.

I got joined into two of the GDRV FB groups. Started looking around, and now I'm a little bummed that I think we paid a little too much based on what I'm seeing. I did work a deal for a 2nd AC that takes the sting out a little and I think some of that is a regional thing, but IN isn't that far away. Then again, I'm getting some money on trade for my broke ass POS 2004 and will be glad to be rid of it.

30% off MSRP.

I didn't quite get that, but I got them to add the 2nd AC option and am getting a fair trade on my old clunker. I could make more selling private of course, but F that.

Check out the Grand Design RV's. However, I think Windish is the only dealer. The folks on the FB pages rave about GD's warranty resolution. Can't speak to it, or Windish personally.

Not beyond the obvious, but you meet nice people at every campground.Last year's CO rally was really just a reason to get together for food and drink. We had a rep from the factory come with a brand new model. The rep also helped with maintenance and warranty issues (not repaired on site but good direction and manufacturer's support.) We hiked, fished, played some games. Then ate and drank some more. Networked with other local folks, and some that came to CO just for the rally. Also got to see mods that others have done to similar RVs. Never thought I'd go more than once, but made a couple really good friends over the course of the weekend that I'm excited for this year.

And yes, F camping world. We shopped there first and never went back.

Unfortunately we are looking for a smaller toy hauler. 20-24 feet. Kinda limits us in our choices. Well, it limits us as we have some particular things we are looking for as far as interior layout. Oddly enough, some models that are not available here, but available in Utah, California, New Mexico fit exactly what we are looking for. Price too. Problem with purchasing from another state/dealer is I have heard it is really tough to get a dealer here to do warranty work if needed. Even if it is the same Manufacturer they carry.
We went to Windish and really enjoyed the salesperson. The Grand Design units were great, but too big for us. They did have the Quicksilver line that fit our price and size, but the interiors were far too basic and cheap for our tastes. We have all winter to look at Toy Haulers and have our current travel trailer to use in the summer if we don't find anything.

I'm not sure why Magpul didnt put a pre-drilled hole or a swivel sling mount on the bottom rear part of their CTR-400 rear stocks, but I bought a 1/2" swivel screw sling mount and drilled a hole and got it started and tightened it down. Went a little too far when drilling and it went through but it's not noticeable.

The slot on the bottom rear isnt sufficient at all for a sling mount with spring loaded hooks.

Too much meat? That's a thing now? Every time I go to mod Pizza I get every meat they have except for anchovies or whatever that fishy substance is under the lid. I don't get sauce though I just have them put a light coat of olive oil with garlic and some basil as the base. Maybe that helps it cook or something but my pizzas always come out perfect.

Fair warning: MOD pizza isn't great pizza by any standard. It's like the Subway of pizza. You pay your $7.87 or whatever it is & you get free reign of topping selection just like Subway. You tell them what to put on it & they do that w/o any upcharges. While it's not award winning it is a tremendous value & I and others happen to agree it's quite tasty. Just don't go in with the expectation that it's the best pie ever & you'll probably enjoy it. Especially when you consider the price & it's exactly what you want and how you want it.

It's more a coffee table thing. The first half is family accounts of the people who homesteaded the plots (my family is in there), and the rest is like hand me down stories from all of the small towns around there. Like I guess there was a blizzard in '49 that killed some people and animals.

1. I keep one common rifle caliber
2. .223 - 7.62x39 whatever its all the same

4. Most importantly is I can take them to indoor ranges without hassle

The ceiling in the garage is actually done. I It's sealed and I framed up two access doors. I'm ready to blow in insulation. I did OSB on the walls all the way around. Initially because it was less expensive and I liked the idea of a more solid wall. I need to heat that garage though. It gets quite cold.

But one step at a time. Just need to pay down some more things and keep building credit.

Are the walls i insulated behind the OSB? If so, you can go straight to peg board over the OSB.

Yes they are. And I did peg board already on one of the shorter walls. I wanna do more, but I would like to also get some decent metal cabinets to mount so I can store a lot of stuff that clutters up the garage.

I got a bunch of really HD office wall cabinets in my garage from when my wife's former Dr. office remodeled. They were down and in the building storage and they just wanted them gone. Been in there for 20 years now and I only occasionally have to go tighten the locking screw (Euro hinges) on a hinge or two on the most often used doors.

I got several damn near new 2-post relay racks from a client during a move. One's for 'puter stuff in my office, the others are used for (part of) my stereo collection.

Free stuff is good.

I am bleeding money getting new stuff for the coming new RV... Paying it off before I trade it.

New Hitch, brake controller, and all kinds of other crap. Stupid hitch rails don't have the 29" wide holes to mount my new hitch.

Need to remove one rear shock to install new rails, so it's opportunistic to get the new shocks now too.

I need to get the craptastic factory 300# 4-bolt single bar hitch on the RV replaced with some beef to tow my boat.

I still need to get a new Juice, I hope they'll still give me 40% off on the old busted one on a trade up like they offered last year - but I didn't bite...

Also thinking about having the trans rebuilt as a precaution, but that's still up in the air. I know there's a bad output shaft dust boot on the transfer case... 63K isn't much, but the truck is old (2004.5) and most of it is towing with an old wonky Juice and I don't want to fail on the side of the road. I can get a nice strong rebuild with a billet TC for around $3k. I'd feel better about running the juice with some fresh running gear. Did the axle fluids in the summer and the gears still looked great.

As an aside, my A6 is gonna need some TLC too.

P.S.

On our last summer lake trip to Conchas Dam, NM, my buddy's 1994 12V lost the bottom track bar bolt and flag nut somewhere along the trip.

His wife and mine were driving it, towing his boat, and she only complained about it being squirrely after we got to our destination. One lap around the parking lot and it was obvious something was wrong...

The next morning, we drove 30 miles to the nearest town with the top side bolt. NAPA didn't have the parts but we found a matching bolt/nut and had a truck repair shop weld a tang on the nut as it goes up into a blind pocket.

If you need a hand with getting your new hitch setup just holler....for some reason I like that stuff!

Also, if you can get a rebuild with a billet TC for $3k I would do it. That's a decent price and it's no fun with a broken rig on the road trying to enjoy the the 5er! Have you looked into efi for your truck?

Right on Coop I'll definitely keep that in mind. I'm hoping with more money in the future, I'll be able to upgrade to Kings but they are pricey. Wouldn't mind having an 8k pound truck ride like a Caddy on/off road!

I went the budget route with an RC 2.5 level and the 5100’s. It rides well but Thuren would be my next upgrade.

Quick check on ATS (only Colo dealer) site shows 06 and up, and $1,100. Yikes!

I like the in-cab on the fly of the Edge. Don't need anything fancy and was just planning on the CS2 as I already have the pillar mount.

That said, I'm also considering adding an e-brake, and that's gonna require a trans controller for lockup... I've been able to manage things without, but I'm adding +2K to my GCWR.

Anyone watching have a reliable goto diesel shop that can do this? Haven't decided if I want to tackle it myself with just the parts.

I think I'm still in the doghouse from Christmas, I tend to want practical gifts, so I usually buy practical gifts for other people, which came in the form of a hand held vacuum for my wife, she wasn't thrilled.

Actually my wife wanted it and we specifically went to Costco to get it as it was on sale.

We have one of those special "pet" model Bissell vacuums. Best vacuum I've ever had. I think it was $50 give or take. I bought it when I was living in the 5th wheel. Pisses my wife off because it works better than the $800 Miele she bought a few years ago. We also bought the special "pet" model carpet cleaner. Can't say enough good about it, too.

I was all dialed in to getting an updated Edge Juice w/Attitude because they were giving me a decent trade price on my troublesome 2005 box.

Then I started looking at e-brakes, and everything I found pretty much said this doesn't work with that, etc.. etc.

Because I need a smart box to do the TC lockup for the e-brake, and that plugs into the OBDII, my options were limited. The Banks kit came with the box at a much better price than the others and going to ATS for their lockup controller box was completely not palatable for me.

In the end, as much as I really didn't want to go Banks, I ended up with a package that's guaranteed to work together and should do what I need. I don't need the MOST power, but I wanted a modest power boost, on the fly adjustable levels, better mileage if possible, data on a screen, and supplemental braking.

I found a really low price on the e-brake kit - a higher priced kit due to my "early build mid model year" that still had the older TPS setup on the engine - had another dealer I've used before price match it, then called Banks direct to see what they could do. They gave me the 20% discount on the MAP "sale price" all over the web, and they gave me the same discount deal on the tuner.

A friend has had a Banks e-brake on his 94 12V for probably 15+ years now and it has held up well. He had a mild tune (well, just injectors really AFAIK) and it's been solid.

Now let's see if a 48RE with 63K miles on it is still up to the task... Several have told me to squeeze a few more miles out of it before I go have it rebuilt... IF I was bombing the snot out of it, I wouldn't hesitate to build it, but for my towing needs, I think (hope) it will hold up for now.

P.S.

If anyone wants a deal on a new Juice w/Attitude CS2 setup, I can still run this through the upgrade program and pass along the deal.

Basically, it would be something like $200 off their "sale" price.

If you have a different MY, I could probably call them back and just tell them I bought a different truck...

Lol, I have that problem when I do my own first aid.

Had a ER doc get really upset that I wrapped about 5 layers of duct tape around my forearm on wound that I couldn't get bleeding under control. He was none too gentle when removing it. Didn't seem to understand that I was 20 miles out in sticks by my self.

Well after waiting over an hour in my little room for tape/glue, I asked the nurse what's going on....the person applying the tape/glue was called into a meeting wtf. So I got a tetanus shot and a bandaid and paid my copay then left. Might use super glue after all...lol

The last two times I took my wife to urgent care (minor injuries easily self-treatable) it was a similar story & we left w/o treatment both times. What a sham those places are.

Whatcha putting together?

That's a high flow regulator to use a co2 tank to fill tires after four wheeling, boot for the bottom of the tank to protect it, and a seal for the regulator rather than disposable washers.

Thought it was something like that. The seal threw me off, haven't seen that. I'm putting together a similar rig, but haven't decided on how to mount the tank yet.

You should reconsider your regulator, those type tend to freeze fairly easy. The one I bought is from Wheelers Offroad, $55.

I have used Quick Fist clamps and they work OK. I prefer a mount like this.

Is that Select-a-size? They really should regulate the sheet capacity of a roll of paper towels. Does anyone other than cleaning service professionals really need that much absorbency?

Depends on how committed you are I guess. My Tacoma has an outlet in the bed & I found a pancake compressor at Harbor Freight that pulls just under the rated amps for like $75. The on-board stuff I've seen is pretty spendy but it's technically one less device to worry about forgetting if you're going to use it frequently. For me the little HF is perfect for inflation after airing-down for trail runs & such.

Irving
02-02-2018, 18:29
I've heard of people replacing the A/C compressor with just a regular compressor as well. Supposedly much more quiet and powerful than an electric one. Like you said, that takes a certain level of dedication to remove A/C.
