I want an OTF so bad but I just can't justify it. I've got a kershaw launch and out the side is practical and convenient, but man what's the point of having an auto if it doesnt make you feel like you're in a 50s street gang?
Built myself some new HID projector headlights.

Me too. Glad the wife let me buy it. Lol.
Started rounding up some parts for it already. It corners like it's on rails but the power delivery is a bit lacking in stock form.
Airbox mod, yosh exhaust, and the FCR 39mm carb will wake it up a bit. It's a good start before you starting wanting a real street tard like the Aprilia SXV or the Husky SMR... :)

Tried out a thread-attached adapter first, but this is cleaner and shortens things up nicely...
Now just need to decide between an Omega 9k or an equivalent length F1, as that TiRant is a bit long.

It's been a long time since I've had two motorcycles in the stable but here I am. I sold my 2010 R1 a few years ago and have regretted since as it was my favorite bike I have ever owned. I was able to score a smoking deal on a 2012 yesterday so now it's time to make room in the garage!

This trailer sticks out like a sore thumb! Everyone at my worked loved it!
It's actually my dad's but it has been damn handy. The side rails come off and act as ramps and it has built in slots to accept them. I think the whole trailer weighs only 500lb. I want to say he gave $2000 or $2500 for it. I will get more info on make/model later today.
Elk stag grips for my 1979 66-1 arrived yesterday, courtesy of Patrick Grashorn in Wyoming-look him up if you want stags for any handguns or knives, he does great work. These have a very slight but very nice palm swell, fit my hand great.Have a polished Tyler T-grip on the way which will make it a perfect set-up. They're a little darker than shown, too much sunlight for the cell camera. Old school cool, that's me all the way [ROFL2]

Since my wife won't let me buy any more guns (for now...plus, she's going to have a cow when she finds out about the drone I bought) and with all of the damaging hail we've had in the Springs the last few years I broke down and ordered a HailProtector.com cover for my '17 Honda Civic & another for my F250.
After initial setup (about 45 minutes for me since I had to download & watch the setup & install videos first), the installation only takes about 5 minutes and inflation takes 5-7 minutes (depending on vehicle/cover size..maybe longer for the F250) to inflate.
HailProtector.com claims these will provide continuous protection against up to 10 SIMULTANEOUS hits by softball sized hailstones. They come with an AC power option, a DC car battery (cigarette lighter plug) option and a battery pack case (8 AA's required). The AC option to unlimited, the DC car battery option runs for up to 3 hrs then is supposed to turn off to protect the car battery from discharge, and the battery pack lasts for 1.5 hrs.
These are a bit pricey, but they currently have $200 off with code 5YEAR200. I got $200 off/ea and after $39/ea for shipping these ran close to $600 total. But, if I can avoid having to make a hail claim and paying $500 in deductibles AND not have any damage to my vehicles, it'll be worth the cost. We shall see.
Here's a pic I took of the one over my 2017 Civic @ about 80-90% inflated:

My daughter and SIL live next door to somebody who has one of these and she says it's protected their truck from goldball sized hail more than once now; plus, they have some really good videos on their site which show it in action. I'd rather not find out for sure if it will actually deflect 10 simultaneous hits from softball sized hail.
I'd think it would do better deflecting hits from multiple projectiles at once, as opposed to a single impact. That's kind of deceptive marketing imo. I remember when Grey posted this up before. Seems like if you can get it into action in time, it would protect against the vast amount of hail storms, and even in the worst hail storms, a hand full of dents is still much better than enough damage to total a vehicle.

1932 Winchester 61 in excellent condition. Pretty nice shape for an 86 year old rifle. It's a very low three digit serial number which is a nice touch for Winchester collectors as it was likely made the 1st week or two of production.

Back in the late ‘60s, I was born on a dairy farm that my dad ran in Emporia, Kansas. My dad was offered some sort of a partnership by a guy he worked for, named Bill Braum, to start some ice cream and burger joints in Oklahoma. My dad declined - didn’t think the idea would take off. I heard that story on every road trip growing up, at every Braum’s we passed. If only.

It's pretty good shit with the caveat that you remember that it's still just fast food. I think the problem is some people go into it thinking it's some great Gourmet restaurant based on everybody talking about it but the bottom line is it's still just fast food. That being said the best service I've ever had any McDonald's pales in comparison to the worst service I've had at every In-n-Out Burger. The staff is always friendly and polite. The food is fresh tasting and really good for what it is. Whenever we're on the west coast we try to hit it up because it's not something that we have in Colorado. If we had one down the street from where we live though I could see where we would frequent it as you would probably get tired of it eventually. Not a whole lot of options or choices to be made so it kind of is the same thing over and over again which we don't mind if we only get it once every few years or something.

All matching serial numbers on sks. Just can't figure how to open the small round compartment on the stock. I'm thinking cleaning tools of some kind

Stick your finger in there by pushing in on the round metal “butt stock door”... if there’s a cleaning kit, it’ll be in a metal cylinder shaped container that is spring loaded to come out after the round little “door” is out of the way.

If you're talking about the butt stock, as mentioned push cover in and cleaning kit will pop out. If you're talking about that side piece with 2 holes in it DO not do anything to it. It's not meant to be removed.
Before you do anything give it a good cleaning, especially the bolt.
remove the bolt, knock cross pin from bolt to get firing pin out. Soak in some degreaser then use a q-tip to get any residual grease out. Then spray that area with break kleener to verify there's no grease in that channel. The grease in the FP channel is one of the main causes of slam firing with the SKS.
That small end cap with hole on the cleaning kit sits over the muzzle acts like a bore guide to keep the cleaning rod from hitting the muzzle. Cleaning rod goes through the larger section of kit, drops through small cap in to barrel.
Buy cheap steel case ammo, leave that stock 10 round "mag" there, get stripper clips, have fun shooting it.
Just ordered DeSantis Econobelt Heavy Duty Belt for Conceal Carry.
It was under 20, and great reviews online.
This will be my first non-5.11 ccw belt. :D

Thanks for the info both Great-Kazoo and Chuckchili. I pushed the cover but it only opens about half way. Guess its possible the cleaning kit was somewhere. Will clean bolt for sure. I'm just happy to finally have an sks. I've wanted one for a long time.

That's due to the kit being spring loaded. Once the cover goes past the kit it pops out.

Not the best of examples but both likely saw military used during the Civil War. While the Remington is generally thought to be the better pistol Colt won the contract to supply the North with pistols. The Colt factory suffered substantial fire damage during the war and couldn't deliver on the contract so Remington took over the contract for a year or so. This colt was made in 1861 (top) and the Remington was make in 1863 or 64. A nice add to my military collection!

Very cool. What type of ammo would they shoot?
Very cool. What type of ammo would they shoot?
Both pistols are black powder. Both load from the front of the cylinder while the cylinders are in the pistol using a .44 caliber ball. Colt did not offer interchangeable cylinders as the removal of the cylinder is awkward. The Remington could accommodate extra cylinders and these could be loaded in advance and quickly changed out, however the thinking at the time was why would that be needed? Six shots was such an improvement over the single shot pistols that were generally used prior to these designs that it was deemed unnecessary. Of the tens of thousands of Remingtons the US government purchased none were shipped with an extra cylinder. Within 5 years of the end of the civil war Remington began offering a model of this pistol that used a cartridge almost identical to the ammo we used today. Colt offered the SAA in 1873 using modern cartridges and again won the US Military contract.

I thought you were quitting cowboy shooting?
I did. Sold off all the guns a while ago. Still trying to sell all the clothes. Then I realized how much I missed owning a SAA clone. I really enjoy the experience of shooting them. I just enjoy plinking with them.
In hindsight, I should have kept one of the revolvers. On the plus side, I have an even nicer action and no transfer bar (it has a saftey that doesn't lock the firing pin on the hammer in place unless you're pulling the trigger). The downside is I spent more money.

A case spreader does make it a lot easier but only really needed when doing it a lot or setting up new gears, For just removing and re-installing prying and hammering is ok. Plus a case spreader is expensive.

If only.
I dont care what most people say this place is way better than In-N-Out. luckily I'll be back in Guymon Monday afternoon.

Found these cheap on Massdrop (millenial webstore that creates sale prices by organizing group buys). Something like 40% off.
I like it thus far. Not in the same class as my ZT or Emerson, but for a cheap ($40) pocket knife that I can have a few of for each vehicle and not really worry if I trash it, it works pretty good. The bearing based flipper construction takes a minute to get used to, but it becomes pretty natural.
D2 Tool Steel, G10 Scales, and Stainless chassis, so decent materials too.

There's a Throttle Body Adaptation procedure that can sometimes fix those codes, but you need a VCDS (aka VAG com) setup. Not sure if there's another way to do it without.
I have a VCDS setup but unfortunately, I'm on the other side of the planet for you.

If you disconnect the battery for 5-10 minutes, reconnect the battery, then turn the key to the on position for 5 minutes it will re-calibrate the pedal to the throttle body.

I had to replace my EDC this week as well. I had the damn thing for 2+ years and lost it. I remember exactly the last time I used it, so I think it ended up in an excavator I sent to ND.
Anyways, I bought a different style EDC since my lost one wasn’t available on Amazon. I received and it was a tad too big for my liking so I ended finding the same one I lost on flea bay. The Kershaw Emerson line is an outrageous deal. For -$30, I cannot believe how much knife you get. The first CQC-3K lasted 2+ years before I finally lost it and it took some abuse. I’ve never owned a top tier knife because one I’m too cheap and two, I lose them (obviously).

Hahahaha, I sold the .45 version to get this 9. Wow, tons of fun to shoot, very accurate, my new carry gun, don’t think it’ll be going away any time soon......but you never know.[ROFL2]
Seriously though, there’s truly only a few items I have that’ll pass on to my sons-thankfully they appreciate good firearms. The other few may go away at anytime.

Copper Spur HV UL2. I had the fly creek UL2 HV for awhile, but I'm willing to put up with the extra pound to go fully freestanding. Got it about half price from a friend with an employee discount to one of the big outdoor retailers (still damn expensive).

Does it come in pizza?[LOL]
Bought 2 rear today.
After having MICHELIN PILOT SUPER SPORT and CONTINENTAL SPORT CONTACT, I decide to cheap out and get HANKOOK VENTUS V12 EVO2.
About 1/2 the cost of Michelin or Continental and have quieter ride. However, it would probably lack of performace relative to previous tires.
I still have Continental Sports contact on the front.

Shifter cart with a YZ125 Motor on it currently.
I'll get that running, and play with it, but ultimately, it's getting a 3 phase electric motor, motor controller, and Li-Ion pack upgrade...
It's one of the winter projects, as the cart needs some TLC as well.

Do you need to, can you, keep the transmission with an electric motor? Seems like electric stuff gets CVT stuff usually, is that correct? A shiftable transmission sounds like crazy fun with an electric motor.

I don't have too, but I will be keeping the motor and case in case I decide I want to.
In the E-dirt bike world, some guys are taking the cylinder and such off, and keeping the existing dirt bike transmission and driving it with an electric motor.
This video is basically the same the motor/controller/battery setup that will be going in this.

So all the golf carts down here in Florida are lifted and tricked out. Seems like you could make a pretty sweet type of golf cart with this stuff, if not a mild ATV. Also seems like an electric kart would be a whole lot less likely to have the cops called you cruising around the neighborhood.

Nice. With the "pimpin' rimz" too!
The noise is part of it, but also the instant torque and infinite tuneability with nothing more than a laptop.
With Li-Ion batteries, there is a lot that is possible now that wasn't, even just a few years ago.
Seriously, even half the golf carts at this resort look like this. The picture is from the first motel I stayed at. One of my insureds had two at his house and was showing me pictures of his kids mudding in the backyard with his knobby tired carts. Rummaging through the safe last night, I realized that I still had a Ti-Rant 45M NIB from almost three years ago..pretty sad. Today, Combat Armory had a sale on their Glock bbl's and I knew it was time. Picked one of those up, thread protector and a AAC 9mm piston:

The new Fallout doesn't interest me at all. I've been watching streamers play the new Black Ops and I'm getting nostalgic over the old MP maps, and the battle royale looks pretty cool. I'll still wait until it's on sale and/or they add another royale map to it.
Sold a few old bikes. Was going to wait until spring to get something new, but found a deal I couldn't pass up. Dealer is a client of ours, and wanted to get rid of the 2018 since the 2019s are coming in now. Only been able to put on about 100 miles in the 8 days I've had it. We found a great deal on the gray Tesla Model S (Apollo) about a month & a half ago and then a couple of weeks later another "offer we couldn't refuse" on the blue one (Apollo 2) popped up. Apollo 2 is a little newer with a few more features & we both really like the blue color. Now, time to sell a few of these cars/trucks we have & cull the herd a little.

Based off the Colt Mustang?
Sold a few old bikes. Was going to wait until spring to get something new, but found a deal I couldn't pass up. Dealer is a client of ours, and wanted to get rid of the 2018 since the 2019s are coming in now. Only been able to put on about 100 miles in the 8 days I've had it. I can say for certain that it isn't slow.

Got my bbl for the Glock and a M&P 2.0 thanks to Gunner.

Mostly due to the fact that I’ve never had a host for it. It shipped with a 45 piston and I only have one 45 (1911). I kept telling myself I was going to get a 9mm piston for it or buy a g21. Niether happened quickly so it just sat in the safe. I’m happy to finally be able to get it out though.

Not really. WE raised a kid, paid bills on time or close to it, owned 4 homes, all vehicles paid for. Outside the c/card bill of less than $200, we have zero debt. At least until the garage gets built, then who knows what i'll throw on the card to put in the shop.
The question is, not really as it's none of anyone's business, how much debt anyone carries. IF one were to become unemployed for longer than 1 month could you carry the debt you have w/out having to refi, or sell off, to keep your head above water. 2 months or longer?

If I didn’t have kids, that means I’m not married. Which means I’d do what I did before marriage entered the picture: live in a small shitty apt, work odd jobs when the mood hits me, and wonder why I didn’t take the MOS change the Army offered in lieu of the med retirement. I don’t understand people who work good paying jobs when single. I’d rather be a janitor or homeless. ;) I only make what I do because it support a family. Life isn’t in income, it’s in experiences. Just based on my own personal experiences (which may or may not be outside the norm), 1 kid is relatively easy (although doesn't seem so at the time), but multiples can start getting very expensive collectively, especially if one or more is active in an expensive sport. Potentially compounding the issue, there may be better-paying opportunities that need to be turned down to avoid being an absentee-parent (have personally turned down jobs as well as quit current ones for this very reason).
This issue of cushion or breathing room is different and an excellent point btw, but I don't think it's possible to come up with a universally solid approach given the variety of conditions which may apply. I most often hear the recommendation to build a stash with coverage for at least 6mo, but in reality that can be a real bitch to pull off. Also, in some cases a need for breathing breathing room (or problems from lack thereof) can be unrelated to an employment change, and just a matter of how much shit can go wrong at the same time...

But those are the benefits of working a good paying job while single. Doing stuff usually costs money, doing it in style or with 'company' costs more. Having a good-paying day job gives you the flexibility to save/invest, live-it-up and build memories, or do a bit of both (which imho is probably the best option).

I probably struck some feelers with that comment but generally speaking, having kids makes life more expensive. We own our house, we own our vehicles, and we've opted to not have kids anytime soon. Hell, we do not even have any pets because we don't want the extra responsibility. This isn't to say that if you have kids, you don't live a comfortable life because my sister and BIL have two and they are very well off. It's simple math; more people in the household, more money needed to support the house.
It's really funny because people ask us all the time when we are having kids and when we tell them never, they look at us like we are the devil himself. This REALLY blows away the older generation and it's almost like they can't believe us [LOL]. We both love kids but just don't want any of our own which I think makes us very unselfish for making that decision. I think we can all agree there are far too many people out there with kids, that shouldn't.

10/10 as a loose paraphrase... [ROFL1]
Statistically, however, the middle to upper levels of society are procreating at a lower rate than lower levels. (Not trying to sound like a tool, but it's true).
There are obviously outliers to this phenomenon, but it is statistically true.
My wife and I are technically part of the problem, as we are in our mid 30's, relatively successful, and haven't had kids yet. Among our friends from church, we are the outliers. Including our friends that don't go to our church, we are the norm.

Not true. You see, you have rednecks and then you have Hillbillies. Either group will firmly tell you which group they belong to and look down upon those of the other group. Combining them is some sort of math that is adding two negatives together but then somehow multiply that times infinity to get the answer.

The hoopty needed some new skins as the currents ones on it are wearing pretty thin. I was going to go with the Falken AT3's but when I went to order them, they suggested I look at the Goodyear Ultraterrains that were just released six months ago exclusively as a Discount Tire only. I always deal with the same guy at DT and he was wanting some feedback on the tire so he shaved quite a bit off the price to sell them under what the Falkens were going to cost me to make the sale. Well when I bought this rig, it did not have a spare tire so I picked up some cheap steelies to go with the new tires and will use one of the stockers for spare. Since it was the end of the month, they knocked quite a bit off of the wheels as well to try and make their numbers look better. If you need some tires, I would suggest going towards the end of the month as they are willing to cut a better deal.

Will do. I don't ever do any off-roading aside from a few camping trips a year. I was mostly concerned about snow performance as well as I let my girl take my truck if it's really bad out. I feel more comfortable knowing it's a heaver vehicle than her Terrain and it always has more aggressive tires. The Ultraterrains are extreme weather conditions rated (even snowflake stamped [ROFL1]), so I anticipate they will do fairly well. Was able to take advantage of a few rebates as well as the free Yeti Rambler for the purchase of them.

https://i.postimg.cc/TYLBPScT/gy.jpg (https://postimg.cc/rKTfnfbH)Thanks for the comparison pic, those look very promising, and possibly better in the snow than the duratrac (which are excellent for an AT). Knowing that all AT tires are marginal in the really slick stuff when compared to a dedicated winter tire, I don't typically put snow performance as a top priority, and just drive accordingly. Noise is definitely a concern of mine, as the duratrac kind of disappointed me (after 3 sets). I don't do as much off roading as I used to, and typically limit my excursions to mild to moderate on occasion, and is why highway comfort is a priority for me. I'll be interested in hearing feedback on these tires as folks put some miles on them.

I'm out on the Duratracs man. I was happy with them the first 7-10k miles or so and the last 10k they were awful. Wore like trash and they were miserable. I didn't know just how miserable until I strapped a new pair of meats on the wheels.
I too did loads of research (to include the aforementioned Tacoma forums) before settling on a tire and ended up going with the Falken WildPeaks. So far these things are awesome. They're much better riding than my Duratracs and the only hope is that they wear better. If not, they cost half as much so at least I'm not out much if they suck. I stacked a few discounts/rebates around Independence Day (DT had discounts, Falken had rebates & eBay had 15% or 20% off too) so I got them for under $400 for a set of four. They really can't wear much worse so I'm pretty jazzed so far.
Curious to see how your new tires do over time too since i'm not really brand loyal. I go with whatever reviews the best at the lowest price and if it's not the brand I currently rock I don't lose much sleep over it. The way I see it, Goodyear/Falken/whoever doesn't give a hobo's crap about old Jer bear so why should I care about them?

I was seriously considering them, but unfortunately they only come in a load range E for my size, and I prefer C. If I end up going to 285's I may go with the Falkens, as 285's only come in E rating.
I put Falken Wildpeaks in the truck last winter and I have been very happy with snow & wet traction as well as tread wear.

Yeah...I'd heard how awesome Duratracs were, too. Put them on a 2500HD Chevy and hated them every minute. Extremely loud and rough ride. They did well in snow, though. Couldn't wait to get rid of them.

Extremely loud
Yup, my biggest complaint, I've ran mud tires that were quieter that the duratracs.

How high do you keep your bucket off the ground so you can cruise at a decent clip?
I've had to snap pictures of two damaged tractors down here so far and both were Mahindras. Everyone loved them before, and loves them even more now since they were able to dig their way out of their houses with them.
