Have to run an OS upgrade on a big production system tonight.
Have to be in Denver around 0930 to start another system upgrade.
Fawk, then I have to run a post upgrade backup on this first one after the dev and user test teams finish. Assuming we don't have any big cockups.
Then Saturday night, after a third system's backup finishes, I wave to patch it and back it up post.
At least the nasty 2 day headache I had behind my right eye is gone for now.
1,469,293 objects saved and still running. And that's just the tail end of one file system that stores mostly image data.
This client's remote access is starting to piss me off.
First HTTPS SSL (IE only!)

then login to a citrix portal

THEN start RDP to a VM they built especially for me.
I'm so blessed, fucking Mormons. :D
Then becuase the VM is on the other side of a very slow link and chugs goat caulk, I get to run ANOTHER RDP from there to a server on the same network as the hosts I need access to.
All just to access a few browser screens and terminal emulators.

What really blows is it TIMES OUT on me constantly and I have to log back into half of it to regain access.</p>

I have to uninstall the update and reset it to not download automagically to get the old verison back.
I don't get it. This thing is a Power6 570 running 2 cores and 60GB ram, it should not be this freakin slow.
So glad I have PTO coming up next (long) weekend. Flying back home to GB Thursday-Tuesday to see the family and go to the annual corn roast/reunion.
The 0800 status call will be fun. We're already hours behind because they had a job over run so we got started almost 2 hours late. Then the backup took slightly longer than expected (yea, encrypted tape saves!), then the system took forever to write changed pages out to disk. I expected to have the upgrade and patching complete long before our 0800 call, now it's going to be tight.
Yea! The base OS upgrade is complete, now installing additional program objects.
I might have to go catch a power nap.

The worst part is they disable copy/paste so parsing commands is nearly impossible. Sadly, there's a hole in their defense and I can ftp files back and forth from my desktop to their host via the intarwebz.

Burned a huge area, sweated my ass off in the process. Hopped on the mower and buzzed the areas that I've burned over the past several days and shit. Decided to come in and have some lunch and take a break for a bit.
Thinking....a sandwich would be good. Pop the fridge and realize that we don't have any fuckin sandwich meat...wtf? We share responsibilities around here, but why isn't there any damn sandwich meat in the fridge? Fix that later.
Figured, fuck it. I've not had a pie in a long time, so called BlackJack and have a x large "Good Deal" with japs and thick crust on the way to the door. I only have pizza a few times a year anyways.
Shit oughtta be here in another 20 or so.
Maybe we'll get some cloud cover in the next few hours, that would be nice.

It's probably going to be a while yet before I can go shooting again....unfortunately.
Obviously I can still do some hand gun stuff, maybe the one rifle I have with a bi-pod, but I'd have problems even getting mags inserted properly I think.

got to shoot one of those new mossberg 223 bolt guns fed by ar magazine - that was a good gun and practical too
a 545 krink - really cool - i have a couple of projects that i need to complete so maybe one of these in the future but in 762x39
a georgia arms 308 i learned some techniques like setting the gun up before settling in to shoot, then fitting myself behind it to load the bipod and then i'd look thru the scope again and i'd be on target - didn't have to put hardly any grip on the gun, just place my hand on the stock and press the trigger and TING goes the steel at 300 yards - very helpful for me - i worked on my breathing too and not being such a spaz behind the scope, almost no recoil too - it boosted my confidence at longer distance b/c i did things to the best of my current ability and i was rewarded with solid hits
suppressed usp45 - it didn't roll up on me like the usp9 has in the past

i learned a ton today, it helps when i'm shooting a GA with Schmidt/Bender ffp optics but i can apply what i learned today to all my rifles

my scope has a g2dmr reticle in it, so I was practicing transitioning between 250 and 500 yd steel plates using only holds, both elevation and wind.

Do you have a LaRue mount? I've had really repeatable results on mine when switching my scope to a different rifle then back.

The LaRue rifle is a light little rifle. I'm not a big guy, so I kinda get pushed around a bit by it. The muzzle device is a standard birdcage, so maybe I should get some sort of a muzzle brake.
the MWS is a bit of a tank, at 2.5 lbs heavier than the LaRue. It doesn't push me around as much.

he cleared out the long range section of the range. I figured that since he didn't look wealthy that he couldn't continue to feed his rifle th $5 bills it was demanding. 30 rounds later he finally left... Ugh!!!

No. I have a ton of .223 already loaded and I just got a free gallon ziplock bag full of brass from a buddy.... Plus I found out the range Sgt here is cool with handing out some brass....

oh a long, long, long ways - they are so far above me they can do that speed for 6 hours or more - they all weigh about a buck 40 soaked in mud and i weigh 200
i'm in better shape than most people but that isn't too hard to accomplish - these guys are the best of the best - as i understand it a bunch of them did the tour de france too

I can only ever do 38 on a bicycle going down a steep hill, don't know how those dudes do that consistently and even up slight grades.
