It's just like sighting in a 22. only more recoil and more expensive with each shot. He probably just needs a spotter to find his shots, right JM? Why not just setup at 25yds to really get on paper, then back it up to 50yds and then 100yds. Did that recently with a friends' 30-06. It was supposedly bore sighted to 100yds, but we couldn't get get him on paper at 50yds. Brought it in to 25 and bam, on target. Once we took him back out to 100yds he was getting submoa groupings.

I think you traditionally do 3 shots to see how the grouping develops, then you adjust the scope or iron sights. It can be a little tricky to understand how the scope moves, so its best to put the scope on a bench and looking through the scope, turn the turret one way continually (counting ticks) and rather fast until you see what it does to the crosshairs. Then, you attempt to move the crosshairs over the point of impact. It depends on what caliber you are sighting in too, because its silly to sight a 308 in at 25yds. If you'll be shooting the 22 primarily at 25-50yds, then zero it at either one and you'll be golden.

I keep screwing around with my 22 scope too. I have a Savage Mark II-FV sitting in a Boyd's Thumbhole Varmint Stock with Burris Signature Zee rings (with the adjustable inserts) and a Mueller 8-32x scope. I got it zeroed at 50yds, then ran out of room in adjustment when I went to 100yds, so i took off the scope and changed out the inserts. I tried getting fancy with the windage and rotated one of the inserts to offset that, then it screwed up my elevation way too much, so I put it back. I still need to get back to the range to toy around with it at 100yds.

Iron sights are much easier. I assume the rear is adjustable and the front is fixed. In that case, if you aim at the center and hit low, then adjust the rear iron sight up. If you aim at the center and hit high, then adjust the rear iron sight down.

Oh yea, forgot to mention: NEVER adjust both the windage AND elevation on a scope at the same time. You typically want to dial one in first, then get the other later. When you move both turrets, you can change it in unintended ways.

Agreed. Thats also partly why I hvaen't resighted in my 22 either. I'd have to get up and leave my house no later than 745am to get to the range when they open at 8am and even then, its already breaking 90deg. The mirage also is pretty bad. Not to mention, I'm getting low on 22, so I dont' want to waste it when I can't replace it anytime soon. Ya know, low as in like 1500 rounds lol

I tried priming a bunch of Federal and Winchester brass, that I bought at walmart, and nearly all of it has crimps so the primer ended up being tilted or completely sideways.

They're not crimped... They're just not uniformed. You need a primer pocket uniformer.

If you can't find one they're all over out here. Let me know. I'll priority one to you.

Really? I can visibly see the crimp mark on the headstamp face so to speak. Its either a full ring indented just outside the primer pocket, or 4 semi-circular marks of the same diameter. I thought that was the primer crimping, no?

Yea, after looking up some pictures on google, they're definitely crimped primers.

Sure, saying "am i being detained" is a fun way to exercise your right once, but you sure as heck wouldn't want to do that every day or multiple times per week. It would get old after a while and you'd realize you'd be on your way FASTER if you simply answered the question, legal or not.
