I am however embarking on a new adventure using a fit bit and calculating/tracking daily activity levels vs. calorie intake including voluntary extracurricular exercises. In my case, I'm trying to gain weight and muscle.

Driver side plugs were damn near rusted in. I don't think the factory puts anti-seize on these things (or if the dealer changed them at 30K they most certainly did not.)

HEI systems are up in that .60 gap when new...not the .35's and .45's we knew in older cars as much anymore. Ain't a bad idea to change plugs in your daily drivers every 50K or so, and wires sometime before 100K....IMO. Coolant changes are important as well unless you periodically check the chemical levels in your coolant system, especially if you're not using any additives to stabilize it. Shitty coolant eats aluminum like sugar eats teeth....it takes a while, but it's really bad after it's done it's damage.

I'm not sure what to say. I'd ask how you know, but I imagine you can specifically list which injuries were from the airbag on the low speed impact. Seems like a simple enough solution of adjusting when they come out then eliminating them. I can't imagine the large numbers agree that not having airbags is safer.

Most cars nowadays have side airbags in the seat that protect you from your arms and head flying out the window in a rollover. I was more badly injured when I was rear ended at about 15mph than when I t-boned another car at approximately the same speed. Airbags didn't deploy, but that's because I was moving too slowly (airbags won't activate until at least 20-25mph).

Even my tiny convertible has those side curtain airbags in them. I put in an aftermarket steering wheel in my car, but opted to keep the airbag.

Air bags are safer than no air bags, especially in high speed collisions. The air bag should not have deployed at that low speed but it did and I was not expecting it.

Insurance company stated that I had to be mistaken about the speed. The bumper on Astro van was not damaged beyond scratches and was not even replaced.

The air bag did not deploy in roll over. Sprained wrist was from not letting go of shifter and a wrench I had behind seat hit me in the head causing bump.

I would still opt out if given choice.

Dodge had a recall for some vehicles reportedly slipping out of park and into reverse. Their fix? Make the horn blow if the vehicle is in reverse and you open the door. I have to keep positive back pressure on my fifth wheel to unhitch. My routine is to chock the fiver wheels, keep the truck idling in reverse with the parking brake on. Can you imagine the stink eye I would get from other campers? Particularly if pulling in late? F that. I think there is a workaround by using a buckle, but doesn't that just make the whole issue more unsafe. Stupid Engineering on their part.

I never took my truck in. What a stupid lame band aid. Now I'm faced with the airbag recall and there are several outstanding "service actions" listed for my truck, including that lame ass horn blowing BS. I'm going to tell the dealer that if they put that TSB in my truck, there's going to be blood on the walls....

On top of that, I spent good money replacing the front end steering system due to their death wobble issues. I sent in a claim that never even got any response. Gonna try to submit that one again.

My Dodge has a stupid work around as well. I forget the details now, but basically the starter relay, and several others, are all incorporated into a relay board. When the starter relay goes out, you have to replace the entire board. When that problem started, the boards where like $1,500! While they've dropped in price over the years, they are still $800-$900 or something. Anyway, now Dodge sells a jumper kit for $30 with a set of instructions explaining which wires to cut to wire in the new relay.

Nor did I say anything about an income tax. I believe that it stands to reason that the more simple a tax plan, the more people will pay. Without all the laborious loopholes and tricks and deductions, no one will have an opportunity to pay less taxes. The more complicated my taxes become, the more I appreciate loopholes that require effort on my part. We like to fantasize about a simple flat tax, relating it to the relatively low consumption taxes that are in place today, but the sales tax is only as low as it is due to all the other taxes. If there is nothing but a consumption tax, the government will make sure that all of the tax revenue will be made up in the new tax. So while a flat tax sounds nice at say 8%, does it sound as nice at 25%?

I don't know what the figures would be in order for the government to not lose tax revenue, but I have to imagine that none of us would like it. Further, what would it do to the economy and GDP? If the way to save money is to stop purchasing things, then prices will go up at the same time that the economy stalls.
