In light of upcoming events, I really need to get my truck as finished as possible before June 1. That aspect really does affect other things that are, or should be in play. Ah, this model is solid bar.
Ah, this model is solid bar.
17063 shows a round bar with chains and "does not allow backing."
Very few of the chain attach WD hitches allow backing. The flat or taper bar/sliders allow backing and provide sway control without any extra BS parts.
Don't mean to be a dick, but I would send it back, spend more and get a 4-way WD/sway.

No, and LOL at $500 worth of chains. I use some Andersen jack blocks and levelers, but think their hitch products are pure shit. Seen pics of their fifth wheel hitch all bent to shit after a panic stop or minor accident.

A dozen + pines, cypress and pinion on the property, 1/2 then are inhabited by ravens. Hoping to build a nesting box for one of the old power poles behind the shop. Want to try attracting one of the nesting owls from across the way, a hawk, or better yet. That Golden who pays us a visit.

I was thinking about one of these, but then I would have to buy a ladder tall enough to install it near where the pecker is doing the damage.

It needs to be under the eave, about 6” of the wall. I need to invest in the ladder anyway to o the damage repair, so it is use a matter of time before I get one.
Are those little giant type of ladders any good for approximately 18’ working height ? I was thinking of the one Harbor Frieght has on sale for $100.
I've got a 15' and I love it and it gets used the most. However those folding ladders get heavy in a hurry when they start getting longer. I wouldn't have any concerns working on it.

Mine is a Cosco and someone gave it to me. I think the big name ladders like Little Giant and generally regarded as quality. I've seen the one at Harbor Freight and while I haven't used one, just looking at it doesn't seem like anything is wrong with it.

What a nice day, picked up a trailer load of lumber early this morning. Tooling up the road, through a traffic circle and i feel this odd wheel hop. Next thing i know, over a loud speaker i hear HEY YOU GOT A FLAT TIRE. Jeep pulled up alongside me to lmk what was happening .
No spare for the new / used trailer. Up to the house and back 1 hr round trip, with tools a spare off the other trailer etc. Floor jack kept for roadside emergencies doesn't work . Pull trucks jack from storage, change out tires. Trailer we used has 14" tires, spare from other trailer, 15" Luckily same bolt pattern.
Casual trip to town and back turns in to 1/2 day ordeal.

It covered most of one half. We’ll get the other 10 yards when it warms/dries up again. Tired of the dogs tracking in mud, and artificial turf is too expensive, so we’re just putting down playground mulch over the whole yard.

I think they messed it up, and it's too late to reel it in. (for Denver metro I mean specifically)
Along with all the other things I'm not, professional meteorologist is one of those. We'll see.
Wife's scheduled flight back into DIA tomorrow from FL got cancelled early. She could have made it in today if not for the d*ckhead at the AA counter in Panama City, FL airport that didn't know how to change a flight.
Now she's scheduled in Thursday instead.
That said, I told her to check with AA first thing in the morning so she could make changes, but NOOO, she waits until they cancel her flight mid day, then decides to show up at the airport to try to make the last flight out.

I looked at some maps on ncar and surface/altitude wind maps ….stuff wasn't lookin' right. I hope it's even less than that for in town.
That said, it still could be shitty for the high terrain and out on the plains.

More sad, she goes out every year to spend time with her mom during the anniversary of her Dad's passing. It's still tough for both of them. Wife was there when it happened (scheduled heart surgery) and ended up staying for a month. Tough time.

If you can wait for Sunday afternoon, pay for the gas and top me off when done, I can help you out. You?ll just need the ball & pin and a GM plug adaptor.
Rescheduled appointment to April 3rd. I'll figure out how early I can drop off and we'll see what we can do. Of course gas and top off. I figure you guys with trucks already set-up to tow are a better bet than renting something from Enterprise and not knowing for sure.
I called Home Depot to ask them and the dumb kid on the phone told me that I have to buy my own hitch and their brakes are only "wired." I think what he meant was I'd have to supply my own ball and they don't have electric brakes wired in.

Mine is just a 1/2 ton and no trailer brake unit. I don’t know if that will work for a trailer that size. I only used it for some utility trailers without brakes.
That's what I used to get it out there and we had to buy a load distributing hitch and brakes and everything. 1/2 ton is too small even with all that stuff.

Irving,
I'm going to break two cardinal rules and offer you the use of my 3/4T Diesel if you wanna hoof it down to Parker.
Rule 1. Don't let anyone else drive my truck (there are currently 3 exceptions for emergency use).
Rule 2. No good deed goes unpunished.
Of course standard rules apply. You break it, you buy it (less known issues of which there is only 1)
I tow 16K with it, so I think it'll handle your bumper pull. It's bagged but you'll still need that WD/sway hitch.

I have the bars for the WD hitch and the ball stored at the trailer itself. Do you already have a WD hitch?

Bars are very much unique to the hitch brand.
I do have a Fastway 2-point WD hitch I used to pull my boat behind my old fifth wheel, but I'd need to take the brackets off the boat trailer and it would need to be setup properly on yours.
The WD hitch head should just be a head attached to a receiver drop hitch that slides into the receiver.
Do you have any pics or details of what you have?
Here's a fastway for reference. Similar to an Equal-i-zer 4-point. The fastway bars just pop into the head, the EQ 4-point bars are held in with bolts that apply pressure to help more with sway control. Either one also applies enough pressure at the bar to bracket joint to help reduce some sway, but the 2-point isn't significant.

Double pull?
Easy peasy, the rear swings out a bit and the boat follows. Think truck pulling trailer, trailer pulling boat.
Swing wide, sure, but no praying necessary. In fact, it's more likely to clip someone in the next lane if it's too tight, than to curb it. That actually happened once with my 2 place jetski trailer turning from Crowfoot Valley Rd to Founders pkwy.
The guys pulling the monster 40+ rigs have more to worry about with their tail swing than my little double tow.
Thanks for the reminder. This is what I have. I'm going to drive out there and make sure that I've got everything. I'm pretty sure I pulled that off the truck before we left and stored at the trailer.

BTW, setting one of these up for permanent use should include a trip to the scales, but can be done in the field without.
Just measure the front and rear fender to tire gap on the truck, get the hitch-trailer setup level, and try to get it back to a similar wheel gap after hooking up and putting the bars on. If you bend a bar or bracket, you probably overdid it or need a bigger hitch. :-)
Since I have bags, I'd air those down while setting up the hitch, then air them back up just to firm the rear up a bit (since I don't have the 3500 overload springs).
That said, I really need to order the onboard air system for my bags so I don't have to use the bicycle pump.
Thanks for the reminder. This is what I have. I'm going to drive out there and make sure that I've got everything. I'm pretty sure I pulled that off the truck before we left and stored at the trailer.

The snow totals were accurate for what they said on 31 last night at 10:00 pm.
Wyome, did you finish drive to survive?
Almost done...I had to knock out a killer nap

Bored enough to dry fire a AR today. Software grounded F22's, caused blackouts and crashed facebook. What could go wrong with voting and a big ass airplane?
Hiya stranger! I didn't look, are you registered for the match coming up?

He's probably shoveling a path for the hobo in the lot next door.
Not even, that guy's an asshole. He'll probably burn another camper down tonight. He should fix the exhaust on his POS chevy too.

If you haven't watched that Magpul Unimog vid on Amazon, it's worth it to see some of the badass rigs.

btw, Pena wasn't bad snow wise, neither was 56th....visibility was the problem. Along with a bus and a tractor trailer wrecking near Tower I heard.

Anyone ever heard of an unrated/uncut directors version of The Blues Brothers?
Clue me. I can?t see the snow from where I?m working. Will it pretty much be melted off by the weekend?
Plowed about 6:30pm. Took about 20-25 minutes with 2 people.

Well,
The snow blower never had a clogged chute, so the mod was a success. But even at the slowest speed it would either stop dead from pushing a slush berm, or ride up on top of the 3 inches packed wet snow that is underneath 6 - 8 inches on top. So, 2 - 3 passes to get to the pavement or only a 10 inch wide path after the initial full width multiple pass to pavement.
What pain in the ass wet snow. Took twice as long to clear just my driveway.
G-night folks, got to be in at 0300 to clear snow so all the office wieners don’t get their Gucci loafers dirty walking into the building.

I think so, mostly.

Yeah. Screw it, I'm going normal time to plow. This sheet is going to melt off pretty fast anyways, but gotta do it anyways. It helps when nobody at your work wears "loafers".
