What exactly do you do that you need to close for weather?

I'm a telescope operator on a 2.5 meter telescope. Our telescope isn't in a dome, it has a roll off enclosure, so its totally vulnerable if weather rolls in. We had this storm system just northeast of us all night and it finally got to us. The humidity spiked up very fast and the dewpoint depression got below our limit of 3degC. It was at 2.2degC and I was still waiting for the last exposure to finish so we could close and not lose that data. Luckily we closed just in time, then it dropped down to 1degC. When the humidity gets that high and the dewpoint depression below 3degC, we can get condensation on our mirror and thats not good at all, especially since they JUST cleaned the mirror about 3 weeks ago and it has to last until next July.

I remember Mom driving me down to Dads work to get my ass beat in the mens restroom.

If I hadn't been through all that stuff, I'd probably be in prison or burying bodies in my basement until I got caught, or something. Had a few rough spots in my early 20's with shit friends and drugs and such, and a really shitty attitude towards everything.

Eventually I grew up and began to understand what life is really about, but it takes some time for most people to figure that out, if they ever do.

I turned out alright in the long run, and have no problem with what my old man did back then...I earned it.
