I feel bad about people trying to raise families living in a damn motel. The rates can't be cheaper than a rental, but credit is probably an issue. Even at half the rate I paid for one night, a month would be $1,600+.

Motels, Hotels, are not designed for people living there full time. How do people afford $1600/month in rent? I am sure I could not.

The people "living" there are doing it very short term, I am sure.

The valley is marginally cooler than tucson. It's like the denver metro area. BUT, lots of places to shoot, barring extreme fire danger weeks. Be nice if you got the valley area, we're down there once a month or so.

Thanks for the luck gents!

I was supposed to go down and scout the areas out last month, but unforeseen circumstances kept us away. Wife and I have done a ton of research, and are prepared to move sight unseen, we know it's hot AF, we know there are a lot more critters down there, we know there is monsoon season, etc etc. We also know cost of living is cheaper, gun rights aren't being attacked (yet anyway), and it's 5-6 hours from ALL of her family, which she could use for her health issues. My wife lived in Vegas for 5 years, so, while not quite as hot, she knows heat. Below, is this week's forecast from where I grew up vs Tucson......https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190717/6b005ea4b14bfa220b29874308006e7c.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190717/7c5913ac74e49801075ec4bde241f7b2.jpg

The Quad cities gets over run with Valley people who flee north during the summer. 89 & 17 NB in the summer look like 70 wb come ski season.

Funny thing is most if not all are back in the phoenix area by mid sept. By then they say it's too cold for them. Quad cities area Sept temps average in the high 70's.

Fox 13 weather chick Stephanie Olmo :) says the phoenix area temps will return to normal by the weekend. Which puzzles me as the current temps are running 110-113 and they say normal is 103-108. Does 3-4 deg past 100 actually that noticeable?

I'm just ready for some consistency, with a preference towards heat. One thing we noticed here in Colorado, when it's in the 90's, the restaurant patios clear out, and people are wanting AC, I'm just dandy drinking my beer on a patio in the 90's, just have to drink it faster.

I haven't gotten as far as water storage yet, just waiting to be selected lol. One of the driving factors is tons of desert to play in, I grew up around acres upon acres of BLM land that I got to play on, I want the same for my boys.

Coming to the end of the packing/staging boxes in garage thing of my own move, I think the new "Kill Your TV" should be "Sell all your crap".

It wouldn't be a problem if I didn't treat every hobby like the only one I have. What does one need with 3 bows and 100+ arrows? I dunno. Why does a person need 18 boxes of books? I dunno, but I could probably find the answer in a book. In what universe is it acceptable to have more ammo than some 3rd world army? Couldn't tell ya.

That disc dana 70 gets mocked up and tacked tomorrow and off to the diff shop on Monday.....and Saturday I'll start tearing down the front diff. Irving is correct, right now it would be a good thing to have a reloading hobby.

You're the only one who was in denial.

The amount you shoot it was only time before it would happen. Buy a 550 dillon till you get the hang of it, then add another one, so you can do hand gun and rifle. OR decide if investing n a 650 for your AR reloading, after the 550 is something you might want.

The 650 is real nice for volume, but (IMO) not a press you want to jump in as a beginner.

You really don't save $$ reloading, especially with ammo prices where they are now. What you will do is have a load specific you your rifle for overall performance.

My wife hits those things every year. Seems commuting for work to Superior and back every week day increases her chances of catching one.

My truck sits in the driveway all week so unless they set those things up on weekends I?ll likely never pass one.

Think I?ll stop and buy a new gas cap and toss it in the glove box before I go. Then once I?ve passed tailpipe emissions and I get to the end and they want to fail me for the gas cap I can just pull the new one out on the spot and not have to make a return trip.

They don't pull the cap to test it anymore. or they no longer did up north. However IF you fail due to the cap within the system, they'll have you retest. Since the system already issued you a fail. Just slap it on, why hassle being there any longer than necessary.

ray1970
07-19-2019, 08:20
Last time I went in they failed me for the cap. I had to leave and get one and go back and get in line again and they just pulled me right up and tested the new cap when it was my turn. I think the whole process that day took me almost 2.5 hours.

Assholes.

I?m just going to keep the new cap in the truck just in case.

Almost makes me want to buy a new Ford truck. They don?t have a gas cap. Try and test that one fucktards.

The gas cap test is stupid anyways. Vehicles have been monitoring the fuel system for leaks since the late 90?s and if I had a bad cap I should get a check engine light for an evap system leak. Without the code my cap is good to go. I doubt the minimum wage flunkies running these tests know anything about what they?re doing.

ray1970

Done.

I got the white people treatment. They didn?t even put my truck on the dyno or sniff the exhaust.

It seemed the nicer looking vehicles were being pushed through this way and the crappier looking ones were getting the full treatment.

Think I?ll wait a week or two to renew the tags.

ray1970
07-19-2019, 10:06
On a related note I find it funny that the vehicles that I own that get the best gas mileage, probably produce the lowest emissions, and produce pretty much zero wear and tear on the roads cost more to register each year than my truck and the wife?s car.

Pretty sure with newer cars they just plug into the ECU and let the computer tell them if you have an issue, which is pretty much what you were talking about.

Nerf bars dropped off for PC today, got the old diff out, and the new one lined up and tacked sooner than expected. Not that there wasn't a setback or two. The top plate u bolt slots weren't wide enough to accommodate the spring width.... it took two alteration sessions to get the clearance needed. It's nice to have help, thanks to the Kid. He even told me to bail for the PC drop off, and locked up the shop after he finished tacking. That kinda shit is why he's gonna get all my stuff when I croak.....good Kid.

I did order that kit from Bronco Graveyard just a bit ago, and their website is a PITA btw, or at least in my experience tonight it was. It effed up the shipping address after several attempts to have it be correct. We'll see.

Yes!...it will...and I'm down with the range trip and Christmas Dinner of course. I have the kids help and he's happy to be doing it with me, and I appreciate that time because it's like having your own boy that wants to help you with shit you want to do.

They failed me once on my car for cracked gas cap gasket. Replaced the gasket for $3 off Amazon AFTER I borrowed a cap form my wrench to pass.

Agree, stupid when they never set any codes.

No. But good job on baiting me to look that up.

Usually don't make pb cookies when it's this warm in the house & it showed in the results... so two things:

next time I'll remember I prefer to split half dark with golden sugar

& (because my cookies are flourless)

Add a dollop of crunchy in the mix, makes a better faux roux.

Had neither on hand. Still very edible but not my best batch.

I experienced a setback today, not what I wanted to hear. Diff shop owner showed up to take the rear end...we started talking about angles and stuff. He took a closer look at how the Tcase is sitting vs. trans output and wasn't happy with it. I'm working on it to get what he wants to see....and depending on that I might have to un-tack the pads and change the angle before he'll get moving on diff assemble and driveshaft build.

Fvck.

It isn't major, but it is disappointing and also delaying progress. To get less angle from the Tcase which will help with front shaft rear joint, I'll have to raise the trans output and center it a little better, and mess with the front side of the Tcase mounting to lower it a bit. We'll get it figured out....I want to get moving...dammit. I've got other stuff to get going on.

My wife's Stinkpad T410 finally gave up even though it's been running with a useless battery that won't charge for months now. Pretty sure she finally killed the AC connector.

Spent too much for a replacement refurb T430P for another one she'll just destroy in a year.

She's using one of my spares (T500) while she's out of town, I just hope it comes back in one piece. Pretty hard to eff up a magnesium frame laptop but she seems to be able to break them all. Mostly she trashes the charge ports and/or lid hinges.

Yum, made me go and eat some spicy pickles! Nice treat after a long day.

Does it automagically or do you regularly check for BIOS/Firmware updates?

Brand?

I doubt it, and I never check for anything but updates on here, work, and other work.

Why does the calculator on the computer always open exactly where I don't want it on the screen?

I think that it opens in the last place that you had it, which makes this even worse.

Put it where you want it to open. Try holding down the CTL key and clicking the close (X). It should remember the location.

If only I could get Quicken to open the MF password dialog on my #1 monitor (always comes up on #2 monitor). Stupid Quicken. It's slow AF too. But I'm a slave to it.

I'm always doing something different, or on a different screen when I pop open the calculator. It probably comes up in the same place as it was when I closed it last, but since the screen has changed, it's just usually in the wrong place.

Pretty much my thoughts, they all have their little niche, but mostly all the burgers from the better fast food burgers are about the same. Some are better quality, but you can always get a better quality burger from a restaurant or diner. Though I do enjoy burgers

Well if you want to learn to script, Autohotkey may help you put it where you want it. I use it daily for repetitive tasks at work.

May take you a few hours at most to put together something for the first time as even the example script gets you half way there - it opens calculator and moves it to the upper left of the screen:

Run, calc.exe
WinWait, Calculator

The main line on that sprinkler seems undersized, is that where it relates to Mormons?

Have you seen the old buildings in the Denver West Office park building complex just South of Colfax and just West of Youngfield?

Ive been in the area more than often so I'll say yes but I can't place which old buildings you mean just now.
