Baby Watch: Day 11
B-Day: Sept 6
Report: Still no baby.
(Counting began after we sold our house, because what more inopportune time for the baby to come than the second we become homeless)
All these new dads! Awesomeness!
Mcantar, I've mostly just been doing calisthenics...I should wait until my injury is fully healed. Can't afford for my finger to bust open.
BC, get some sleep! Any names picked out?
Hip hop abs DVD? Where'd the puke smiley go...
Sorry, your excuse is invalid. I worked almost 80hrs last week and still found time to work out after taking care of a pregnant wife and 13yo kid (and 2 dogs). Granted I didn't get to spend as much time on my workouts as I usually like to and I still had to sacrifice a little sleep, but then everything life is a trade off.
Remember, any 300lb fatass can shoot a gun... but you need to be at least somewhat in shape to fight with one.
You probably think I'm a dick now...
I'm not offended. I'm only a 230lb fatass.

Yeah, busting stitches sucks. That doesn't exclude you from heavy leg days and, depending on the injury, likely most of the ab exercises I posted and maybe even chest and triceps exercises. What'd you do to you finger?

We're still pitching ideas back and forth, we've only known for 5 weeks so. We kinda like Dalton for a boy. My wife likes Renee Elizabeth for a girl, because those are our grandmas' names, but I associate those names with elderly people so not a huge fan of naming a kid that. We both suck at coming up with names though, so it's probably gonna take a while... we both love the name Tucker, but we burned that one on one of our dogs lol.

That's pretty disrespectful. How many times were spent with grandparents, while you were sick. Mom & Dad, on vacation, Buying you something because they knew your folks said not to. But they did because it made you happy.
Oh Wait i forgot they're ELDERLY [facepalm]You planning on staying that sweet 16 look, you've been trying to hold on to for how many years now ? A sign of respect and history for your child would be to consider names of family members past. BTW: when your child is 20 you'll be how old?
Came home to a potential plumbing emergency. I'll know in the morning.
In the mean time, I have a very weak chest. I can do lat pull downs with significantly more weight than I can bench press. I don't go to the gym. I work out at home with hand weights. Any ideas on decent chest exercises for home workouts?

Honestly, push-ups are a great balanced exercise for your core, arms and chest. You can modify them to put the weight on different muscle groups too: having your arms further apart will work your chest more. Put your hands out in front of you a little more to work your upper chest and shoulders more. Wear a tight-fitting weighted backpack if you'd like more weight and less reps. The key is muscle fatigue. If you don't fatigue your muscles, they aren't going to break down and build up very quickly.

Today was my day to sleep in and the wif woke me up to tell me it was international bacon day.
Now I gotta take her sorry ass to the airport. Maybe later I'll start working on that new reloading bench if it doesn't rain.
I hate running the saws inside, too much cleanup afterwards.

If he worked on it before the airport, she get 100% of it. Or leave some to use as ammo next disagreement.
For the plumbing issue worked out. Fortunately, the reason the carpet was wet in the living room is because my aquaponic system was leaking. I thought the old cat iron sewer main had collapsed and I was going to have to jack hammer up the concrete slab my house sits on. Phew.

My new shop vac has a HUGE hose. Doesn't mate up with the various saw discharge chutes. I could get all ghetto on it with some ductape, but doing it outside is just easier. I have to pull them all out from the wall anyway and my tablesaw is a folder.
Just got back from the airport. Gotta plug into the car and see why the CEL lit up before I get started. Then I gotta move cars, etc. Maybe I'll just take a nap and start tomorrow.

Just kidding guys. Still have water coming up in very specific, small spots on my carpet. This is of great concern because my house is on a slab. ALL the spots are coming from directly above where the sewer main is buried. Well, at least two of the three cars we own are undrivable right now as well. So that's nice. This year can't end soon enough.

Sorry dude. :(
Well, I've got the carpet pulled back right now. Can't really see anything because of the asbestos tiles over the concrete. Right now it looks like it might just be that the carpet pad soaked up the 40 or so gallons of water, and since I dried the carpet, the water is just leaking back through. I've got some fans going and I'll just check on it over the weekend and see if any new water shows up. I ran the bathtub and flushed the toilet for about 5 minutes and everything seems to be draining just fine and I didn't see any new water.
Exactly what I do. :D
I used a piece of bailing wire.
Alas, on the heavy cuts, the saw and vacuum on the same breaker trips it.

Easy fix. Just pull your workbench outside and run your saw off the outlet by the porch, then use an extension cord to run the vacuum out of the garage. You're welcome.

what's the amp draw using ext cords? You generate more heat and draw with a light ext cord. We use basic ones for close work. Long distance and it's 10ga, DRAW BABY, DRAW
Damn that sucks Irving. Evening jim HB OBC and brutal.
Well, after a few hours of fans running. My latest conclusion is that the carpet pad has soaked up 20-40 gallons of water over the last few days. Carpet pad really holds in the water, so when I would dry the top of the carpet, an hour later and it'd be wet again because the pad was still FULL of water. I've pulled back as much carpet and pad as I can without moving the fish tank. I'll probably get rid of the fish and move the tank tomorrow and get everything dry. Just as long as the main line and floor are in good shape, then I can deal with fish tank water.

Short cord. Afternoon sun beating down on the panel. This whole house was undersized for load. The window A/C in my office (spare room) can trip the breaker when it's really hot out and if I have the stereo going. I have a lot of computer stuff in here, but most of it is on another circuit with the other BR.
The draw on that garage circuit is already heavy. I should run another line but it's 180* on the opposite side of the house from the panel. PITB

Found out last night that not only did I injure my finger I also broke my bike. The fixed side of the hub is fine but I must've popped something on the single speed side....it just freewheels. It makes me feel a bit better knowing I gave as good as I got!

Because my lumber was in the garage, and I needed to keep the garage door open, I prefer not to get sawdust all over the vehicles and my clean jetski's parked outside and blown back into the garage.

I've had I think 8 or 9 different pipes. You know the World Class Cigar shop at 44th and Wadsworth (just north of 44th and on the East side of Wads, just before I-70)? That guy got me into pipes and he can give you a good jumping off point; not to mention he is the best cigar shop in the metro area to which I've ever been. Start off with a cheapy composite pipe. I got mine from him for $20 (but that was 10 years ago). You don't have to break in a composite pipe, just smoke and go. Easy to learn on. First thing you should do is take it apart and remove the filter, this will make the draw much less restrictive. Captain Black is a great brand of pipe tobacco for decent money. I like the Cherry, Black, and I think the original. Smoker Friendly, as well as many cigar shops carry their own brands of pipe smoke. The Tobacco Leaf over near Belmar has a lot of great flavors.
Ask the guy to show you how to pack the bowl. Pipes aren't as easy as cigars where you just light them and they stay lit. They take a bit of finessing and can be frustrating at first. If you smoke too slow, they will go out. If you smoke to fast, they get so hot you can't hold the pipe, and they go out. If you pack the tobacco too loose, they go out. Finally, if you pack the tobacco too tight, they go out.
All that said, pipe smoke is MUCH more smooth, and smells MUCH better than cigar smoke. I used to smoke in my car and house (blew the smoke into the fire place while running) and the next day would smell like cherry, instead of stale cigar. I used to have a Gandalf pipe, but it was more of a conversation piece since it was made of porcelain and didn't smoke well. Also my wife broke it in half (and it was still longer than the rest of my other pipes. There are also all kinds of designs and materials which pipes are made from, making it fun to collect them. I still have my very first (or second) cheapy composite pipe. My most expensive pipe was $80, and I love it. I'll go take some pictures.
Thanks for the info Irving! I know right where that place is at. I didn't know all that about it. I like things that take finesse. Dipping took no real finesse...
I have been around heavy pipe smokers that stunk so bad - clothing, pipe, and BREATH - they literally almost made me puke, and that was when I was a cigarette smoker.
I can't stand to be around anyone that reeks of dirty old pipe.
We also got our kids first pet. A parakeet... Its name is "baby bluebird". Cool little bird!
I like a pipe and some spirits some weekend nights....especially during fall.
I think if you smoke too much of anything, and it still stinks. I can smell it in my beard when I wake up the next morning.

My old man use to have his tobacco blended for him. He was / is a pipe and CEEGAR smoker. At one point he use to cut his cigars and cram them in the pipe. Last time I saw him, he was smoking these little guinea (Italian) stink pots. I said thought you quite smoking? I did, I quite smoking big cigars [facepalm]

My father in law has 2 parakeets. Their cage is in my temporary office. They're weird. They have a love affair with the mirror, but the mirror belongs to one bird (blue). The white one tries to take it away, but the blue one always hops back in between them.
They also chirp incessantly when you don't want them to, but when you don't care, they're super quiet. Annoying little shits [LOL]
Haha, yeah we didn't buy a mirror because we heard they fall in love with it. We figured with 3 kids he'll usually have someone giving it attention. He doesn't chirp yet because he is still getting used to us, frightful lil fellow

Oh yeah, sometimes you'll go into a store and find SUPER cheap "pipe tobacco." Don't buy it. Most great tobacco tobacco is something like $5-$10 for an ounce. I ran into some stuff that was $5.99 for 20 oz. I thought, "This stuff is so cheap, I can't go wrong!" and bought it. It is terrible. It smokes WAY too fast and has a terrible flavor. After some research, I discovered that it is just cigarette tobacco that is branded as "pipe tobacco" to avoid taxes or something. Avoid stuff that seems too good to be true.

Big wolf spider chompin moths
Sent from my subconscious mind.
Wolf spiders rule.
They get huge when unmolested, we have caught several that measured 3-4" length of ab and almost 8" diameter of legs.
The females carry the egg sack with them and carries newly hatched spiderlings with her for a couple weeks. Amazing to see a large female covered in a hundred spiderlings.

Cold turkey man. BTDT.
You have to think of it like the worst drug imaginable - because it is - and don't succumb to temptation.
It only takes ONE to make you a smoker again. You gotta find stuff to keep you busy and doing activities that don't afford you the option to light up. Your body only needs around 7 days to boot the nicotine, your MIND will fuck with you almost forever.
Sometimes starting with small steps helps. I first stopped smoking in my vehicles when I bought a new car, stopped indoors long before that. Then refused to have to be in shitty weather just to smoke, etc.

So, I've been designing my project with the assumption I could acquire a specific electric actuator. Now that we have been given the go ahead to proceed to fabrication, I have started getting price quotes and lead times for all off-the-shelf parts. Turns out, that company doesn't sell their actuators to individuals, only to manufacturers. And what sucks the most is that this was the ONLY size actuator that works for my application (size constraints, stroke length and force requirement). [Bang]
In searching more, I found another one that would be even better, but I can't find any vendors in the USA. They are sold in the UK, so we'll see if they're willing to ship here. If not, I might have to use family/friend channels to purchase over there and then ship it to me here.

My wife DID tell me to just unplug the fridge BUT I just got home with a bunch of beer and I didn't want it to be warm.
Also, I drove around in rush hour traffic with an open five gallon bucket full of fish that I was trying to get rid of. That was less than fun, and a lot of the reason I bought so much beer.
