I had to admit my father to the hospital today, he'd not been feeling well the last couple days, but got worse overnight. Step mom called this morning, and off I went. He's got viral pneumonia and low BP, high heart rate...and a couple other things going on. I'm glad he's in there with folks to help get him right again. Yeah, I'm a little worried about this at his age, but Step mom is a mess......when I left the hospital I went and spent time with her, brought her some dinner and some of dad's belongings.

I hope everything turns out alright, I'm thinking it will.

When I was in high school, we went to florida to stay at a cousin's house for spring break. I fell asleep in the sun for about 3 hours with no sunscreen on. No shirt, just a swimsuit. The next 5 days were awfully painful. My entire upper body would itch so bad, but ANYTHING touching me would just hurt like crazy. Sitting in a chair? That hurts like crazy. Wearing a seatbelt? AWFUL. Putting on a button up dress shirt to wear to church? FML! Needless to say, my entire stomach, chest, face, and arms peeled twice and I had some blistering in the middle of my chest where the sun don't normally shine. Lesson learned. Now I burn really easily in all of those areas, so I have to be extra diligent.


Short version: I got burned really bad when I was a kid and I feel your pain.

MRI results back, might be crying later today.

MRI report says: lateral meniscus tear and evidence of a medial meniscus tear. Chondromalacia of the outside femoral knuckle, its basically wearing down bone, early stages of arthritis and the meniscus tear could be degenerative results of this. And, two possible tumors (again) in my femur. Sounds like the tumor in my femur has returned and is in two pockets this time. This probably won't be covered by workers comp, but then again, if they have to operate on the meniscus, they could do the bone grafting again (if necessary or at the very least biopsy the tumor to make sure it is what they think it is, then remove it at a later time).

Ouch. Praying to God right now that I don't need another bone grafting surgery. :(

On the flip side, I have a dentist appt in 1 hour and the knee appt after that, so finally I'll have something else to worry about during the dentist appt than having a cavity [LOL] haha, haha... awww

Yup, 27 years old. Unfortunately, no, but I wish I was! I hate the desert! Then again, today is rainy so I'm excited.

Just got back from doc, definitely confirmed. Two tumors and a torn meniscus. This doc will operate on the torn meniscus under workers comp. Will have to see if the doc from my old surgery (CO Limb Consultants) will take my current insurance and then can schedule that surgery.

I injured my knee at work on 6/11. Basically, I was reaching for something and then twisted to turn back around. Guess I still had weight on my knee while twisting, because I had instant excruciating pain and then couldn't walk on it for at least 12hrs. Have worn a brace since then and been in waves of pain since then. Some days its worse, though the past week its been mostly fine. It is painful to fully straighten my leg, and if I have it fully straight and put weight on it, I get a lot of pain and it buckles and gives out.

Honestly, the meniscus tear and surgery is a walk in the park compared to the bone grafting. That sucks and recovery is painful. The new methods with artificial bone graft are supposedly less painful, but they're no paper cut.

Outside of possibly out of network, they should cover it. Especially based on CLC's expertise, there are very few if any others i'd recommend. Make sure you document mileage, there may be reimbursement for you.

Luckily, Dr. Wilkins is contracted with my insurance, so they said I will receive my full insurance benefits for any appointments, tests and surgeries I will incur by seeing him (and the hospital he operates at is also contracted with my insurance so thats covered too). Now, I just have to wait for UPS to deliver my MRI to his office, for him to get back into town Thursday and then maybe I'll hear back from him via email.

Thanks for the tip on keeping track of mileage, wouldn't have thought of that.

And yes, after dealing with him in 2006, I don't want to go to anyone else. Also partly because there isn't anyone even remotely close to where I live that can do this.

The one funny thing about my job, is that they constantly move our group into different organizations as needed. When I got a sales call yesterday about "Implementing IT security" from a vendor, I was honestly able to tell her I'm not in IT anymore. In any other company I would be, but we're now in the "Technology Organization" and "IT" is another group. I forwarded her to some guy still in IT...

Best thing about my group: 4 of the 6 of us are shooters.
