Well Debi rode enough to get a street named after her. Guess she wanted to outdo Ride, Sally, Ride.

Apparently, when someone ran out of names and tried to make Lazy Suzzane Pl, the city board finessed the suggestion and came up with Suzzanne Lake Rd. I want to buy some property out here. This is perfect for AirBnB.

I've been asking around, and people are like, "You could go to the zoo?" I can't be professional and say, "I don't mean behind a fucking gate!" at the same time. One guy told me about a nature preserve, but made it clear that because of dumb tourists, if I get caught off the path I'll go to jail.

What's killing me right now is all the damn bug bites. I need to get some Off! and start wearing my longer socks. I could hardly sleep last night, and it's starting again now. Weird how the bites only bug me at night.

Is this one of those social media tricks like, "If your Social Security number was your bank account, post how much money you'd have!"

Irving
10-21-2018, 14:50
I feel like both of those answers are security questions for various financial institutions.

I guaranty right now, that I could create an Ad-lib paragraph, and for each blank put a suggestion of security phrases (mother's maiden name, city you met your spouse, youngest siblings name, etc) and people would fill that out without hesitation.

******I know that this first street + first pet = stripper name is an old thing and was before security questions.********

If I had a Facebook troll account though, I'd totally do that Adlib thing.

I HATE those security questions, because 99.9% of the ones they force selection of are genealogy based and could be answered relatively easy with the right subscriptions, like to basic ancestry.com, and to anyone who knows you (Ahem, which would be the biggest risk of account compromise for a lot of people) will probably know that shit to beging with. Then, the rest are inapplicable to the vast majority of people. Some of the most unoriginal fek wits that came up with that shit. As for the rest, a lot of phone reps can be manipulated into telling/hinting you just about anything, which will provide the answers for everything else. I like "create your own question" versions, or at least ones that step beyond genealogy with some originality, e.g. "What is the nickname of a favorite childhood stuffed animal" or "What OCD thing do you secretly do?" etc. etc. coupled with pattern matching to accept "close" answers, because often consistency is an issue.

The existing systems are mere security theater in most software providers/websites, and might even make things less secure in some cases.

You don't have to answer them honestly, just consistently. So if they ask you for the city of your birth (for example), say Kathmandu instead of where you were really born. Just remember your lies.

I need to find a nice piece of black carpet for the back of the cab, and also find a nice cove trim to run along the top side of it. The corners will be a bitch, but I'll figure something out. Not sure if I need to trim the edges that meet up with the door seals though, the discerning jury is still out on that one.

I understand most everyone has busy lives, but I was reminded today how valuable it is to have folks that will basically drop anything to come and help you with something.

If you have something like this that is available to you, you NEED to make sure you not only make it right, but that you are also there to help them back when they need it on top of that.

Is that when you pull someone's spirit down around their ankles in front of a crowd of people with biting comments about their yet to be achieved dreams and life goals?

I laughed again when I read it the second time....Irving, that was pretty good stuff.

If you are the type that might mix a protein powder with some type of liquid in your adult sized tumbler sippy cup..... I also learned today that vigorously shaking your concoction with "choke satan and his disciples" fury, doesn't mix it any better....only adds lots of aeration and it might leak product when it previously had not done so.

I got all my lighting today and of course I hooked up jumpers to check stuff out....all is good ! Can't wait to get it all wired up. I was happy to see that the loaded light switch panel I bought has switches that look and feel to be of higher quality than I expected, and each switch is rated for 20 amp load. That helps, but I'll still relay everything with ground signals. No news on the bumper shipping yet, but I think I made good lighting choices and look forward to cuttin' holes and getting them installed.

Oh, and the kid at work has used the "raptor" spray bed liner stuff and the shit turned out pretty good, so I'll get a pack of that for the bumper but I'll have to wait on spraying it until I get the rear receiver mounting figured out and welded up so I can spray them both at the same time. And I can't do that until I get the new bed mounted. Had to reach out to a different vendor about the wheels and tires, stuff wasn't going anywhere. I hate that I had to do it, but the first guy had over a month to either get what I asked for, or at least come back with some alternatives or suggestions.

There...IS...and end to this shit one of these days....lol.

And?

A balmy tuesday morning with nothing but a dr apt turned in to what is now being called in the North central az basin. TIRADE TUESDAY.

From the ins co to the 3rd, yes 3rd stove (that's somewhere in transit) an irrigation "specialist" i fired before he even started, a check's in the mail (for 3 weeks) on & on.

There's no reason why i have to spend over 2 + hrs on the phone with different "CSR's" who are unable to do their job.

There is one of those signs on about every block. I've never seen so many guys and boxes of ammo laying around houses at the ready either. Usually an AK leaning in the corner would be somewhat noteworthy when you know a stranger will be wandering around your house. Not after a big hurricane.

Fill it out no matter what, everytime.
When I was in CA 15 to 20 years ago the Dems/Socialists and the media (but I repeat myself) ran a campain on the news how they were so far ahead no waybfor Reps to catch up etc. I bought into it, as did a bunch of people. They won by 2 points. If everyone had actually voted regardless of outlook the they would have lost.

Just frigging vote.

Just frigging vote.

Of course, hence why I mentioned filling out my ballot, even took the time to research everything. I haven't missed an election since I turned 18, and don't intend to start, regardless of futility, but motivation was pretty low this cycle.

You ever notice people that mispronounce brand names, and it's some well known brand name like Coors, Audi, or Hyundai where you KNOW they've heard the name spoken in commercials? Drives me crazy. I don't expect everyone to have a strong grasp on pronunciation of words based on letters, but I do expect those same people to watch a lot of television and pick up on that stuff.

I'm sure I have a similar story, but nothing comes to mind.

Partially related, my neighbor has a story about the time that his wife sent him to buy groceries. On the list was parsley flakes. He came back all pissed and told her, "I walked up and down the cereal aisle at least ten times!"

Later when they were hanging out with his brother they were like, "Hey, if you got sent to the store to buy parsley flakes, in what aisle would you look?" He didn't even hesitate when he said, "The cereal aisle?"

I'm sitting on the back porch working, with headphones on, and I thought I saw something out of the corner of my eye when I turned my head.

An opossum just walked by about 10 feet away. Once I put the light on him he scurried away so I didn't get a good picture of him. :(

I can pick those up right? Their supposed to be really gentle.

I read you need to approach them gently like you would a honey badger. Then slooooowly reach out with 1 not both hands, to show them you're not a predator. They get a little antsy but will calm down once you touch them.

If you manage to get a picture of you petting one. The state gives you a Bienvenidos Florida Card along with a free meal at any participating Golden Corral.

I guess you missed out on the fun of listening to Jimmy Carter pronounce it...

https://youtu.be/wHdl_0q-F60

The interesting thing is, Jimmy Carter had experience with the Atomic Energy Commission and Nuclear Subs:

16 OCT 1952 - 08 OCT 1953 -- Duty with US Atomic Energy Commission (Division of Reactor Development, Schenectady Operations Office) From 3 NOV 1952 to 1 MAR 1953 he served on temporary duty with Naval Reactors Branch, US Atomic Energy Commission, Washington, D.C. "assisting in the design and development of nuclear propulsion plants for naval vessels." From 1 MAR 1953 to 8 OCT 1953 he was under instruction to become an engineering officer for a nuclear power plant. He also assisted in setting up on-the-job training for the enlisted men being instructed in nuclear propulsion for the USS Seawolf (SSN575).

Everyone has their own tastes and such. I can remember eating over at the Kings Table off 92nd and Sheridan years ago..might have been Wadsworth. Most of those buffet style deals really weren't all that good when ya think about the whole "dining experience" so to speak. Furs, Golden Shower, Little Banquet (for those that wear that many years under your belt).

All that stuff was/is quantity but not quality. Is it eatin'?....yes low(er) buck...yes. Boy I can tell ya though, I ..USED.. to really put it away when I was a young man, and the buffets were a great way to really pig out if you have the room to go back a couple of times. Some of the Vegas buffets are pretty damn good though, and a few up the hill here are decent too.

I was profiled today while shopping at a furniture store....which is okay because it's what people formerly accepted as Reality. T-shirt and blue jeans looking at some fairly expensive shit, but when I started asking specifics about options and stuff...the guy starts adding up the total for me like I'd walk away from my interest in the product because it was "too expensive for a slob like you" type of deal.

Doesn't bother me at all really, but it's interesting how much it pisses so many other people off. I had planned to call a local news station and gather my friends to picket at the store front for the rest of the weekend, but then I remembered that life isn't fair for everyone all the time, and reality is a good thing to familiarize yourself and remain acquainted with on a regular basis.

People started eating liver and onions during WWII when the government ran a campaign to get people to start eating more organs and "waste" meat because of shortages from the war.

I wish I had more time to mess around with wildlife while I'm down here. While my wife and kid would love a silky, I already killed the roosters we had for the exact same reason. The weekend I killed mine, asshole neighbors were lighting mortars STARTING at 3:00 am. I did get my winch bumper last week, and there was a problem with the hoop bar that was on the finished product. Working with the seller, they'll send me the correct hoop bar and I'll cut the wrong one off and weld the right one on. Other than that, just a couple of modifications will have this custom bumper ready to rock. I should get notification very soon that my bed is in town and ready to pick up from the dealer.

I'll have a challenge getting all the wiring done between the breakers, relays and the switch panel mounting....but I will spend the time to get it done clean and run extra circuits in case I want or need to add stuff later on down the road.

Tires and wheels is still a hot mess, working on different manufacturers with similar tread designs from what I initially wanted. 38" isn't as popular as it once was, but 40" really is just too damn big even with the lift this truck already has. For an old school guy, it's kind of disappointing that the new trend in stupid big wheels with smaller profile tires has become standard. I happen to think most of it looks like shit.

Why? People giving money voluntarily is their own deal. I wouldn't feel bad for a second. Don't get me wrong, I still give serious attitude to people who give me a bullshit story, but that's because they're lying. I don't give money to people either, but if other people want to, that's their problem. I've always been interested to see if anyone would give me money if I just stood at a street corner all day not doing anything. Or have a sign that says something, but didn't ask for anything. Seems like a pretty miserable way to make $50 though.

I've always wanted to do an extended heli ride...we bought an hour for our boss years ago for Christmas and he dug it. I know there are some that actually let you take control of flight for a short time. We also got him a ride in a stunt biplane, but we don't think he ever used it.

Customer Appreciation Day at a dealership we blow a lot of money at, well, we used to back when this happened.

Grills are going, tents set up everywhere for pushing product and "business continuity" and such.

A few of us at the time were walking around the set up, and this lady with a clipboard busts out with..."hey, are you registered?". Yeah, it was for some bullshit giveaway, but I said...

"as a Sex Offender?....yeah, the state made me do that a few years back".

The blank stare and look from her was priceless for a few seconds...and everyone within earshot was already laughing, and even she joined in the mirth of that. It was one of those times when all the folks were onboard for what had just happened and they were cool with it. I'll never forget it.

With zero hesitation I was like, "Ohh, court order?"

It was a joke I had lined up for a while and it just slipped out. I thought it was hilarious but she wasn't on board.

Here is how to mitigate hurricane damage. This house was mostly untouched. What you are looking at is ribbed steel panels bolted over all the windows. Some of these have a 1' strip of identically ribbed plexiglass across the middle to let in some light. All the window frames must have hardware pre-installed to slide this over and secure down with wingnuts. That's what I'd do if I lived out here.

First it was very stressful and hectic. Then I finally found my feet and fell into a good, sustainable rhythm. Right when I was excited to get my next batch of claims, they said that they don't think any more are coming and the storm is over. So now I've got to see if I can hop on someone else's roster, or go home early and waste a week's worth of AirBnB that I just bought two days ago. So at a minimum, I've got another week left. Otherwise, it's going well.

Just watched a guy scrape the side of this truck trying to pull out of the same parking spot that I was. Same situation as well. Totally empty around him, all he had to do was pull straight out like normal and everything would have been fine. Instead he tried to sneak through the posts for some reason. I think it is how it looks from the driver's seat it looks like you're too close to the other side of the aisle. Oh well.

Kohls keurig k-cups are cheaper than Walmart, but still more expensive than Sams/Costco. I might just get it at Kohls.
One crappy one about sams/costco is that I gotta by 72 counts and it is 2month of same coffee. I don't think I can buy 4 differernt 72 count coffee for variety.
72 counts are usually $29.99 (Starbucks k-cups) on sale.

Ive a system even though I'm an infrequent shopper. Pick out what I'm there for & just buy it. When the cash is good a week later, order a second item(s) I already have & like online. 5 minutes sometimes $50. Worth it.

The only upside to the election ad's is they will be over tuesday. Giving everyone a break from politics, until........................wednesday morning. When the b.s for the 2020 presidential cycle starts.

WE don't watch the news and zip through commercials when we watch t.v. 10:12-10:20 is the window for weather, mute volume till they appear. After that back to watching something on NF, Amz, hulu etc, or finish another book.

It's an option on my phone, but you're right, they probably switch numbers. I think it's been a different organization each time so far. Just makes me feel good to block them, even though it does nothing.

You can't find PBR or Tecate? Those are the only beers anyone needs.

I saw that fancy PBR at Publix that was $9.99 for four cans.

The only liquor store I've seen had less be variety than Publix. I actually tried to go to another liquor store down the block, but the front wall was blown in by the storm.

Restaurants have some stuff, but not a lot that is great. The best I've had down here so far is Oyster City Brewing Company's Hooter Brown Ale and it is fantastic.

Yes, but I've only had it once. I just assumed it was another Budweiser, but have little experience. Actually, I thought it was Japanese the first few times I saw the name. Before I was staying at least 40 minutes away from any damage. Here there is stuff here and there. This is what I found when I looked up the liquor store when I rolled into town.

Frogs LOVE to hang out in this area of siding, and behind it. I'd be trying to jamb my tape measure in there to measure some siding and all the sudden a frog would be jumping out at me!

If you go swimming in the ocean, please remember:

In the event of being caught in a rip tide DO NOT FIGHT IT and attempt to swim directly back in to the beach; you will only get tired and then drown. Swim parallel w/ the beach and you will eventually get out of it and able to get back.

Watch for changes in the water color and if that corresponds to areas where the waves aren't breaking (or breaking as much), that's likely a rip tide.
