My toe hurts a little bit.
I saw a dead calf today, it was still hog tied.
Guy at this farm installed all his porch lights upside down. There is another one to the left.

Contrary to popular theory, there are folks who join with interests other than having access to the TP but I was certainly curious. After being given access I admit I eagerly browsed the titles but the mystique faded rather quickly. I posted a WTB ad for a non firearm item because people seem to have bins of traded up/down gear they don't use anymore. Unfortunately even as surplus, they still don't want to part with it; guess having a spare, spare, spare set might be useful at some point. Regardless, I'd rather spend my $ locally with individuals whenever possible. Unlikely that would count as a contribution to the site as much as supporting the local community.
No join judgement here, just explaining how things came to be. A while ago I was posting about if local shops would take used gun stuff, like the thrift store, but it didn't sound like it so I just threw stuff away. Which reminds me, I need to throw away more stuff.
They're on a 4 day school week down here, started aug 8th, goes thru may. Reason being the schools are that old they have no AC so they end the school year before it gets hot.
I came from 6 days/week elementary education. When my parents moved to CA public school program, I was on 5days/week. I really liked it. 4days/week is just too little. Average corporate employees put 55-70hr/week, and 4days ain't going to train our kids. Oh, startups are even worse. It is like 80+hr. lol
To be fair, I've taken exactly zero classes in all of my education to prepare me for the milking corporations do to employees. Home schooled kids probably spend WAY less time than that actually "in" school. It is a nuisance for parents trying not to pay for child care though. I've never even heard of this until now. What is the reason the districts are giving to going to such a schedule?

Well in the corporate world they have AC / climate controlled buildings. This part of the state they don't since the buildings are 20+ yrs old and it does tend to get up in the low 90's.
They also are kept inside when it rains. AS the rain can go from a steady drizzle to flash flood withing seconds.
I am sure home school kids get more dense education relative to school. I've seen some study hard and play hard. Whereas school, even i was trying to find every single little opportunity to goof around and talk to other kids.
They don't have enough $$$ to pay 20% more like next school district Adams12. So, teachers start to move to different school district.
27J could not raise more bonds or other way to raise more $$$ to be competitive to other district's wage. So they made it 4days/week (basically Substitutiton effect) to attract more tachers.
We actually live closer to adams12 schools than 27j schools.

Even mid 80s, at least [public] school i've went to all had AC. Those buildings were at least 20years old at that time as well. However, I do agree with rain part. Those building sucks so much that rain use to sip into the classroom door and window. (at least in CA school during 80s and 90s).

If you took an M.C. Eshcer and put about 50 free range chickens all over the stairs, with hawks circling in the middle air space, it would have been perfect. I love inspecting farms.

Average corporate employees are morons, almost as much as the corporations themselves. That much "work" (useless meetings, sifting through emails that are fluff and a time waste, and browsing the internet instead of working because you are on hour 40 of "work" in 3 1/2 days and have mentally checked out) results in a reduction of output and grinds people down, further reducing output. With the exception of jobs which require a 24/7 coverage, 30-35 hours would be much better so long as people don't abuse it. Really, goal-based work weeks would be the best thing. Oh, and with actual tracking of production and consequences/rewards.
Additionally, more telecommuting would be better. Obviously, not all jobs can do that. But it's absolutely pointless to go to a desk only to have conference calls, skype meetings, etc. I was given the chance to work from home for a few months when transitioning from private sector to DOD contracting, while waiting on my clearance to go through. Those 2 months saw the MOST production I'd ever had. Why? Because I was in an environment where I got extra sleep since I wasn't driving in, lunch was walking downstairs and eating lunch, and when I was off I wasn't fighting traffic. Was awesome.
As for school, it should be competency based. Understand this section? Move along. 10 grade reading level in 7th grade? You're on to 12th grade reading. 8th grade and struggling with fractions? Let's get you up to speed instead of shuffling you along to complete failure (thanks, George W., with your every child left behind act).
What's NOT training the kids is a runny shit down the leg in a marathon sort of education that is modern schooling. It's AWFUL. Awful methodology. Awful environment. Awful. Awful. Awful.

One more thing people around here are proud to say. This ain't California. You're comparing what ever economic level CA place to a small AZ farming community 20 yrs ago. ^^^^Don't care how they did or do it in CA.

Sorry Great-Kazoo for having 1 state sample of my pesonal experience of elementary school. I can talk about 2 states (and 2 school districts) of higschool during early 90s.
Yes, both had AC. :D
Definitely small town stuff, but still strange that they don't have A/C in schools down there.
I remember being in Temp buildings in my elementary school, and they were hotter/colder than the main building, but I think they still had some sort of A/C and heat.

Society, largely, is moronic. The problem is generally in the belief that presence = production; that's only true in something like the Ford model of production lines where human beings do mindless work like automatons. The business world, like the education milieu, has a constant belief in, and implementation of, "new ideas". These are largely just old ideas that failed, but in new packaging and phrasing. But it's all an effort to run away from the foundational reality of how to be effective in work: set a goal, complete the goal, don't waste time on fluff, don't distract, and don't make early completion a punishment. Today's goal is X. Finished X at 12? Go home. The modern method is an exercise in moving a pile of rocks from point A to point B and back again.
Some might argue that this could serve to stunt production and acts as an unnatural cap on profit. I disagree.
Just see it like this. Usually companies who beats the earnings and good path to long term growth are ones who work employees to death.
in contrast, if you see JCP or Kmart/Sears corporate employees...... :)

While I think it would be intersting to make up some very controversial cause, like ISIS or pedophilia (something to make people SCOUR their neighborhoods every time they drive through), I wouldn't want to do that for the negative attention the innocent people who had upside down porch lights would endure. Perhaps something obscure enough to catch momentary attention, but not have a negative connotation. Maybe something like people against the Harvard's racism of Asians or something. At least that is something that is real and has been in the news.
In solidarity with immigrants.

Well, what I am trying to say is that some companies which have a history of over working their employees tend to be the companies that does good short/long run. (apple, amazon, oracle, etc)
Uh huh... so you're saying we learned nothing from the backlash to the post-"Enlightenment" fallout and subsequent Industrial Revolution and the Marxist thought which, though it took it to an unsupportable conclusion in the extreme, wasn't entirely off base in its assessment of the problem? Almost like... we learned nothing about how to achieve a good middle ground and are facing a future of virile and violent communist resistance?

Me? Not really. Worker burnout is a very real thing and production effectiveness begins dropping after 40 hours, 55 is the magic number where it really stops, and anything over that is basically pointless.
If we look back in history, we see what happens when people have had enough of X and are led by messianic figures into an extreme reaction to X -- be it Nazism, Communism, etc.
I see no reason to subject a child to insane amounts of schooling to prepare them for the modern coal mines. Really, we should be asking ourselves *why* we accept the modern coal mines.

Because the average parent (generalization) would rather someone else take care of their kid[s] than have to be burdened with another responsibility . Why interact with your kid after school, on weekends when the education system can do it for you.
Really the only reason you dropped $600 per phone for your kid[s]s so they'd be consumed with texting, social media, etc than hold a conversation with you and vice versa.
Probably a little more to it than that.

Too general of a statement. i cannot say entire global market learned something or nothing off of past, but some specific sector or some specific companies most likely learned and moved forward with it.
Great, so now when it jams, he has to take off a 60+ pound backpack after carrying a 26 pound machine gun, in order to mess with a belt in a metal chute instead of just ripping out the current belt while his AG assists on getting that ready as he clears the jam. I was telling my buddy today, wouldn't it be funny if after all the hoopla about my van, I started rocking this instead? A truck this size must be commercially insured, but my van already is anyway.
Dear Lord....do not buy that chassis for anything other than a boat anchor.
Hospital try to give me a leg braces.
I aaked how much cash value vs how much insurance is giving them. They were transparent and said 250 cash and 950 billed to insurance.
I know it makes no sense, but I told me that I will buy a same/similar one myself.
I just surfed ebay and I can get one for 60-90 cash.
950 billing is boarder line moral hazard for a leg braces.

As for the leg brace thing, same deal with boots for diabetes. Mother-in-law got like a $900 boot that was painful and nearly too heavy to lift through insurance. For $60 she could get a comfortable shoe on her own.

Phone call tomorrow and a request for some pics and see where it goes from there. If it's SS and aint rusted to shit, might be a great opportunity.

Maybe I can figure out this interwebz stuff and post a pic from my phone. It's a '79 and I put a 7.3 powerstroke in it. Turned out that motor was hurt and the project stalled.
I'm gonna take the cab off this Friday and put another 7.3 in it and modify some of the original mods we made to the chassis.

We swapped our propane for an electric this year. Liked the propane smoker but got tired of battling the wind and it was worn out. Liking the electric.

Still have 1 new package and 1/4 left over. I am currently earing the leftover 1/4 portion of Cheese & Fruit package.

My electric had no way to control heat, no themometer, and could barely hold heat at all. I'm sure there are great electric smokers, but what I had wasn't it.

When I'm done with this truck, it will have a unique level of badassery and monsterness to it. I've got a flatbed for it that needs some work before it is ready for final install.
If you guys are interested, I can post updates of progress on it. This was a big deal in my life about six years ago and it hurt to just let it sit there with nothing happening to it at all. Personal life problems and other horseshit interfered, and I'm excited to get the ball rolling again.

Thinking about S8 and S8+The S5 was my favorite Samsung to date (granted my S8+ blows it out of the water in some areas), user removable battery, SD slot, even IR for TV remote! Wife and I went the S8 (her) S8+ (me) route, and are happy. Truck runs and the body is back on....this motor has and engine oil pump leak I found out about today. I'll get the parts on Tuesday and fix that....it's been sitting for six years. Had to readjust the throw on the shifter linkage and a few other things, but all in all it went well. After the oil leak I'll get the new radiator installed and square up the cooling system leaving room for the condenser for the future heat/ A/C unit.

New engine after getting the body back down on the frame with 2" spacers instead of the 3" I used first. That was why I had to redo the shifter linkage again. I've seen pics of other people doing a 7.3 swap like this, but they have the engine sitting way up high in the chassis...this one doesn't do that. The A/C bracket had to be moved up about 3" for the power steering pump pulley to clear the steering gear. The front most factory cross member had to be slimmed down on the drivers side by about 3" so the front of the oil pan would clear. I think that is the reason why others have theirs set so high in the chassis, because they didn't modify the cross member.

But in Fords infinite wisdom, the radiator support in the F series isn't removable like the E series is. If body and paint on the cab weren't complete, I would have just pulled the front clip....I didn't want to take a chance on chipping or scratching the finish on the fenders or the hood.
eta,,plus all the electronics are mounted on the inner fender panels and all that would have had be messed with as well. Lifting the whole thing was the way to go for sure.

Quick-ish question~ My parents have an 80gal water heater & some old baseboard heaters that needs to go to recycling. I should have assistance to get them IN my truck, but I'll be solo when I get to the yard. Is there a place very close to I70 between DenverWest & Havana, that IF I can't get it out by myself they won't be a*holes & refuse me if I ask for assistance?
Just trying to manage expectations as this is not a usual chore for me.
Denver Recycling off Ivy said they won't. (I understand why they don't have staff for unloading, but it's 1 item in an empty pickup, sheesh)
I won't do CL, I'm weary of a service that charges & this has to go in the morning.
(I admit after speaking to the person at DMR I'm considering taking a tow strap & hooking the tank to something in their yard & just driving, they can keep the 4$ & I'll be sure to spray paint WORTH IT on the tank)
Might be a stupid question but You drained the water heater right? When are you taking it down? I might be able to sling it out for you.
I'll grab one for you tomorrow while we're down in the valley.
Now that's team spirit!

Yes......newer available options are significantly less than adequate unless I were a hipster with an FJ or a Jeep, or, if I was into sucking dicks.
I mentioned you were looking for a mid 70s Ford bumper to a friend & he said he might have a Ramsey something or other & would get back to me. He also asked if you wanted a PTO, hydraulic or electric?

Had to hit the dentist today for 2 cavities. One in the upper left, one in the lower right.
Oh man, getting a full mouth of anesthesia would have sucked. When the doc came in, I asked if any were deep. He said one was a little deeper than the other but caught them both early. I asked if he would do it without numbing me up. He said sure, just raise my hand if I wanted to stop, and he went right to business. Wasn't fun during the actual drilling but wasn't bad. Only a couple minutes for each tooth, the rest of the work is pain free.
I know it's weird, but I had a much better overall experience getting a total of about 10 minutes of intermittent light to medium pain than 4-5 hours of a numb mouth, drooling all over, and biting my tongue over and over. I'm sure I'll get more cavities and as long as they're caught early enough, I'll do it this way again.

I had a root canal while the DMD & I listened to Metallica & Slayer; makes for a nice interaction when folks share interests. Really nice guy, great work. The assistant intentionally sounded like Butthead (& Beavis) when she said: huh huh you have a dental dam on your face. THAT sent me into a five minute giggle that had the entire office giggling with me. I was gassed & rockin out so it was actually kinda fun. YEP I'm weird.
So I noticed that some ahole dented and pushed in the bumper on my Suburban. Prick made a turn and contacted my bumper to the left of center while making a turn in a parking lot and kept turning, left a 2ft dent snd pushed the bumper pack about 2 inches. Second time someone dented my burb in a lot. How the f do you miss a suburban. Aholes.

Was it a white Ford pickup?
2 years ago, some douchknot door dinged the rear quarter on my truck pretty bad (IMHO), left white paint marks. I pretty much figured it was the same white Ford F150 pickup that moved up to the opposing end of a double length trailer spot and left an empty next to me, as it had the telltale signs of a serial dinger. I pretty much figured it was the same white Ford F150 pickup that moved up to the opposing end of a double length trailer spot and left an empty next to me, as it had the telltale signs of a serial dinger. I wanted to kick his fawking door in, but without someone actually seeing it though, WTF ya gonna do?
Usually a well placed sheet rock screw or two under the tires, is appropriate .
I feel your pain (sorta).

Yeah, no idea when or who. Noticed it last Saturday, and last I used the truck was over 2 weeks ago.
Somedays I wish I could put Claymores in the bumpers and doors for these special fools.

I did get the truck bed onto my flatbed trailer and successfully relocated it down to work. I'm proud of that rusty old ignored trailer....it did me right.
It's about time I showed it some love though.... now that the trailer is at work, it would be good to go through it and make it nice again. It was kinda beat up when I got it for my race car in the early 90's.

I was on roof duty today as well. I was "Gutter Man!!!!".
Many weeks before all the leaves turn and fall into the gutter again, I defied gravity and all odds to defeat improper gutter drainage.
I cleaned a few second story windows while I was at it, but have received no monetary compensation for whatsoever.

Most any of the free cloud services - Onedrive is my favorite but I have a paid O365 account, Dropbox, Google Sync, will allow you to upload your phone photos automatically and sync to a computer, assuming you're using a computer as well. Windows has built in resizing (if not, I think it's still part of Windows Power Tools.)
Sorry, I don't edit images on the phone, so not much help there.

Nope. No puter I use on a network connected to the net & I don't knowingly do anything 'cloud'. One would think with a camera as base equipment, there'd be base features in the editor. I have no use for rabbit noses & sparkles & such.
I'll find something & get those pics up, hopefully the fella who owns them wont mind, much. I had already blocked out the plates but it's not like you could mistake these for someone elses.
Thanks for the suggestions though!

Nice run, Lobo.
I most certainly appreciate Mrs. Lobo's view about my revitalized baby......I have a 12,000 lb winch to put into the new bumper I will order this week, and I've decided to buy a new aluminum flatbed for the truck and will most likely order that tomorrow due to time and shipping difficulties. Most local vendors do not carry the bed that I want In Stock...of course, so I have to wait. I'll also have to buy the metal to make my own drop down receiver hitch and integrate it into the new bed rear drop down...among the other options that I will install onto the bed because either the bulk of manufacturers won't include my desires, or they charge too damn much for shit I can do myself. I'll update with new pics as shit happens, the OBCmobile is gonna be one tough son of a bitch, and I'm doin' it right... :)
I miss seeing all of the posters you mentioned, as well as some others that used to frequent our playground for sure. I hope they are all doing well, and it'd be nice if they stopped in. I'm curious about Bogey, Belly and Didi, and Stoner and a few other dudes as well. Remember JM? Wonder what the hell they're all doing. Firecrotch posted some funny shit.

You think you got hosed.
After locating the bill of sale for a trailer purchased in CO 8 years ago and never registered in CO, because it was used for storage. Went to the local DMV with paperwork and checkbook in hand. We're told that will be $179. as they hand us a plate with an expiration tag of..........NEVER !
Turns out trailers are a 1 time fee with in place of a tag with a 1 year renewal, is marked PERM. That's it 1 payment, 1 tag, never a fee to renew [ROFL2]
Keep in mind i wanted to tag the trailer before we moved to avoid any issues on the road. Called for a temp tag since we'd no longer reside in CO. The state employee told me.
Well we don't issue temp tags for anything other than new vehicles/trailers etc. So i would be charged the sales tax, Plus what ever the lic plate & registration fee was for every year i had the trailer since it's purchase. With a rough estimate of $600......
Thankfully the place that sold us the trailer said sure we can write a 30 day temp tag
MMMmmm $600 to CO or wait till we moved. Yeah that was a good deal.
You don't want to hear what it cost to plate 3 vehicles, with no emission test required.
2004 mini cooper.... cost me $330 to title and plate. Next year it will be around $150, and drops every year. So I have no pity for your Colorado tags :D

You really should. We have a"guest house" if you'd like to come down a few to wander the north central part of the state. Not knowing where it was west of here you travel, occasionally. The inland empire / Berdoo is 5 hrs from here. Takes a few to get use to, the locals are kind of standoffish. But i think part of that is due to your neighbors house not 10-20' from your house.
