So, does that mean you're upgrading to either an ultrasonic cleaner or wet tumbler? [LOL]

If you do, you might have had this happen instead of getting a full cavity search...

Seems I did not tumble this brass enough. I've been struggling with the process due to the PITB it is to fully separate the media so I don't scratch my dies. Tumble before size/decap, then tumble again to remove the lube after step 3.

Yesterday was mostly step 3: trim, in/out chamfer, *, clean primer pocket, uniform*.

* press swag if needed.

I should be using nitrile gloves anyway.

I must not be tumbling my brass enough. And every time I tumble, I end up with a thick coating of dust on everything... Any way to eliminate that?

Used dryer sheets work pretty well for me. When I separate my brass, I take out a handful from the tumbler (after emptying the media) and loosely shake it in my hands to get the excess media out and it works very well for me.

BuffCyclist

And yes, we all should be wearing nitrile gloves while reloading but I definitely don't right now. If I'm working with primers a lot I will, same goes for dirty range brass (while sorting).

Agreed. I would love to have a rifle/pistol combo that use the same caliber, while being as reliable as a revolver and levergun. Hard to beat the simple operation of a revolver or levergun.

I was Johnny Wishbone after work today, stopped at the bank and got some shit straightened out with some accounts that were being unfairly charged...handled that shit, and busted ass home to install the new replacement sprayer on the kitchen sink, caulked some stuff in a room being painted , replaced some light switches, and some other shit.

Oughtta count for something, one would think.

Me and all the folks I go with ski and board but I haven't grabbed the handle end of a tow rope for two years now. I used to be not half bad slalom once I got my fat ass out of the water, but had all I could do to stay up on a board for any length of time, let alone do anything tricky. We don't have anyone that can do any big tricks on the boards. We're all mostly very recreational skiers.

Why do you ask?

We mostly avoid the local lakes as I have no death wish.

Go to Pueblo a few times a year except holiday weekends, Navajo Res is our favorite "mini Powell" spot and we always do a week there every year.

We used to go to John Martin in the SE corner of CO, but it's been a mudhole for years. We used to go to Glendo as well but it kinda fell out of favor.

Getting my own boat now will push us to try out more Colorado lakes.

My one complaint with SWFA is that they don't have live inventory tracking.

Placed an order for my scope rings yesterday and got an email today they're backordered.

Need to think about it, but it looks like its cheaper to order from Midway (with another order I was going to place) which is quite shocking because Midway seems to be extremely expensive lately (on shipping). And yes, Brownells doesn't have the rings I want or I'd order it all from them.

They're where I keep a wishlist too, but their shipping prices have become ridiculous, there's no way they are actually paying that much for shipping, its probably mostly packaging materials and labor fees.

Ridge

I'll admit, it has been a while since I bought something there, so I don't know what has become of their shipping prices.

BuffCyclist

It seems like if you add more than 4-5 parts and estimate shipping, USPS Sure Post goes over $20. UPS Sure Post should NOT be that expensive, that's the point. It's not First Class, its not Priority, its slower than the freaking pony express but super cheap.

You bet. Not in that last couple years though. Didn't seem the same once Dave and Beths daughter took over the kitchen. Have not been there since before the wife's surgeries. Used to be our favorite dinner place.

Sigh, its weird being able to apply physics to an engineering problem that you're designing and actually understanding what you're doing and how you need to change the design to better fit the requirements.

You know, the stuff that you complained about to your professor you'd never use in life, somehow is magically being used in life... [facepalm]

I'm disappointed in the rest of you hos, one of our fellow hos mentioned financing (not purchasing, because you don't purchase "a really nice rifle") a rifle and none of you asked him what it is... FOR SHAAAAME!!!!

So Belly, what in your eyes, constitutes "a really nice rifle... in a match burning caliber"?

I've got a line on a Criterion Barrel in .260 Remington, a 26" in 1/8 twist. I'll get it screwed on by someone who knows what how to do it and then get it assembled into a decent chassis. Since I already have the action, it shouldn't be difficult.

I have also thought about doing away with the 'build it' mentality and just buying a 'factory' made, like a Surgeon, GA Precision, or Crescent Custom.

Sometimes you have to bite the bullet so to speak, to achieve maximum performance. After investing $$XX in to something, when i've sat back and looked at it. I say to myself, i should have purchased this already assembled.

Sounds like a very nice precision rifle!

And to add to what kazoo is telling you, you did JUST convince me to purchase the 700 5R instead of an SPS Varmint because it is pre-built and it's best to buy exactly what you want the first time. So why not save up until you have enough to buy the Surgeon, GAP or Crescent rifle? Though knowing what they're prices are, you might be able to take out a bank loan to finance it... [LOL]

BC, here's my response to the buy/build dilemma that I guided you through:

This isn't my first precision gun. The key thing with your purchase is that WHEN (not 'if') you decide to go bigger and better, you can still get an awesome return on your investment. Hell, you will probably keep it.

I guarantee... (Gar-an-effin-tee!) that once you are regularly hitting at 500 and 750, you will want to push that envelope a bit. It's THAT adictive. The .308 can do it, but other calibers can do it sooo much easier. Out of 130 shooters, maybe 5 were shooting .308. Everyone else was shooting one of the following calibers: .260 Remington, 6.5 Creedmore, 6mm Creedmoor, 6XC, or .243. The .30 cal bullets just can't get past the wind until you REALLY push them fast, like through a 300 Win Mag. If you want those type of ballistics properties, just save yourself the recoil by getting one of the above calibers..

No deflecting Belly!! [Poke]

I guess its all about cost evaluation for you then. Is it cheaper to blueprint the action, rebarrel, add a trigger, then drop in a chassis of your choosing or just buy an off the shelf precision rifle.

If you know exactly what you want (and it sounds like you do) then I'm sure building is better for you.

There's mixed reviews / feeling regarding blueprinting. Could that money be put to better use, elsewhere within the rifle.

Ah, well what do I know, I just hang out in this here reloading forum and never venture outside [LOL]

I've just always read that's what people do when building up an action, especially when they rebarrel because why not.
