Cabela's (Lone Tree) sold out of the 500 rd cases of Herter's 9mm at $79.97 but are taking pre-paid rain checks for the next few days. You pre pay and they call when it arrives. Winchester is now manufacturing Herter's.

Trans pressure can build and blow fluid out the dipstick tube which sits pretty much over the turbo, causing fires.

Not saying that's it, but there's been enough that they put on a stop sale and halted all plant production until they installed a fix/secured parts for builds. New redesigned VB separator plate and a TCM update.

Yea, steady stream of rumors of either an HD version of the 8-speed ZF or a (true*) Allison 2000 9-speed coming in the next 2-3 years.

Figures, I am about a week out taking delivery on my 2020 3500. I did go for the HO/Aisin combo so except for shifting like a bus, there's few if any reports of issues. I think FCA is still working through coding updates. Another semi-reliable rumor is there's a significant "married" ECM/TCM update coming soon for the Aisin that goes beyond the stop gap TCM only updates they've been doing to fix shifting complaints.

If it was a daily driver, I'd probably have just gotten the SO/68RFE. Course, then it would have been held up in build when they halted production for the fire problem.

I'd sure love a real Allison 2000 behind the Cummins, but I wasn't going to wait forever and try to avoid first year of anything.

The new 2020 Ford with 475HP/1050 lb-ft and their 10-speed spanked the RAM (uphill) on the 30K gauntlet run but the RAM dominates the downhill with their exhaust brake and crushes everyone with their current interiors. The MB trans was always hunting to find the right gear. Would resist downshifting and bogging and you're feeding it more gas to get it there. By the time it does downshift, then you're winding up the twin turbos and accelerating more than you'd like to. I took it in twice (they could do nothing), reset the adaptive learning mode multiple times. I was happy to get rid of the GL 450.

ETA: I'm no specialist, but the 7G-Tronic is also sealed and requires a special filler tool.

Yeah, those pan bolts breaks with little more torque. ALso need a laser thermometer and filler tool as Gman stated. I think this one is more difficult than doing Nissan GTR. There is no way in hell I am spending $600+ for 722.9 transmission service. (or $1200 for GTR transmission service) :D

However, buying those euro performance vehicle really got me to do lots of DIY which many can't do.

Finding a right gear was not as bad for me, but the damn 722.9 has a very slow start [transmission] response. I thought it was a software issue, but it is what it is (according to MB Westminster).
Try Gen 3 Toyota Tacoma transmission. It is literally a 1990s technology transmission. Even Hyundai Elantra transmission is much more superior than tacoma's.
