This one sat outside too long before I got to it. When the deck gets bad enough, it shall undergo major surgery. The deck will come off, paint be stripped, the axles and electrics pulled, and the whole thing powdercoated. Then the deck will be replaced with properly treated wood and wired appropriately (because I HATE faulty trailer wiring).
I also have started plans for a gate assist (wife can't lift the gate by herself), but want to keep the gate where it is still removable and will lay flat when necessary

Circa 1975.
I think selling cows was an excuse to visit and drink with his friends once a month or so.
Back in the day, if you didn't have a nice hat and boots, you weren't really Denver. This is probably 1981, 1982.
I still have a nice pair of boots when I go out on the town, but I need a new hat :)

People around the block do a real nice haunted house. Unfortunately they had a fire a few months back, and rebuilding did not allow one this year.
The neighbors across from them stepped up and with help from the locals did up a real nice haunted house. You'd think it was one of those commercial ones you pay lots to enter. They do it as donations only, and has a real good turn out, every year.

Yep… low grade fever and lots of nausea… 6 year old can’t keep anything down… basically hasn’t had anything to eat for 36 hrs now. Only had a few sips of water and pedialyte. If she can’t start drinking more water, we might have to take her in for dehydration :(
I lost my stupid car key fob. it kept falling off and I finally lost it.
I would have to go to all the stores I've visited this morning and pray that they have it at lost and found.
those key ring had to be attached to the fob body, not with emergency physical key inside the fob.

We got negative Covid tests from “the wrong place” that wasn’t on their approved provider list… so we had to go get the exact same type of test (PCR) from a different place 30 mins away so that we can fly to Hawaii. Thankfully insurance covered the costs, but we spent 3 hours driving today and another 2 hours sitting in medical facilities just to meet Hawaii’s stupid tyrannical Covid rules. I wish I was more excited about moving to Hawaii, but it’s literally a progressive dystopia supported by tourism. :(

stop in torrington, on the way back from sturgis, 1 year. Looking down i see 1 of my saddle bag lids blew off. Like i'm even turning around.
3ish months later i told one of my clients from that area, about it. he calls his wife and says. hey honey, remember on the way to lusk i saw that saddle bag top, yeah i do. He says, on the way back we stop where we saw it laying. I picked it up and said HEY! This is Kazoos , his wife says you sure?

I had to get something at Costco during lunch and had a 1.50 hotdogs and churros.
I promise my kid,if she does good at math today, she will have dinner of her choice. She picked taco bell dinner. She did good and now eating taco bell.
key to not having a stomach issue is not to eat/order much food at the fast food.

Found out a few days back...that I had a mouse in the garage. So I bought a few traps at Ace on Saturday. Clearly concerned that I didn't want him getting into the house, I set 'em up and waited for the fun.
Sunday morning at 3:00 am, SNAP.... no joy. Son of a bitch.
Rebaited and reset....nothing. So Monday night at about midnight, SNAP..... success had been achieved. He probably got in when the OH door was up to carry in groceries.

Cousin that was visiting family down in Tucson for TG stopped here tonight to hole up before heading back to NM in the morning. Has her 5 yr old daughter Marion with her, which is weird for me cause I'm not around little kids much.....you know, with the court order and stuff.... we had a great night with lots of conversation. Really cute little girl and it's kinda fun to see the joys and surprises that mean so much to a kid at that age. And Lilly took really well to both Mom and the child which was cool to see my dog go protecto mode on the kid.
I'm really glad they took the time to visit, we'll feed em breakfast and they'll be on their way home. I hear the favorite menu item is bacon slices and chocolate milk.

Enjoyed cataract surgery today with an interocular lens implant that should vastly improve vision in my left eye. Had the other eye done 10 years ago. First time it was under general anesthesia, this time without which was a little weird and a bit stressful. Still looking forward to the results.....

My eyes are still dilated but now I can see better with my new corneal IOL lens without my glasses than with them. So, I might remove the one glasses lens tomorrow for driving. The eye needs to adjust to the new IOL interocular lens implant. It will be a month before I'll get an eye exam for new corrected glasses.
I read that in ~20 years lens implants will be widely available that have zoom and macro vision capabilities. Can you imagine the possibilities?

I have a nice system still in a box somewhere....I should get it set up when it warms up again. I don't think it's Davis, but I know it's a good name.

Mounted the base in concrete, then drilled the base and attached the pole so it would pivot, and set the 2nd vertical attachment up with a u bolt.
When the batteries die, or it needs other maintenance, I can go pull 1 guy wire and the u bolt to lean the whole deal over.

I initially used 2 u bolts, but decided it was overkill.
I set it in the ground to tilt directly west, as in my case, orientation of the station is important, so it was easy to line up
The one bolt top/center is used to get it vertically level east to west, since the top rail isn't the exact same size as the posts.
The 2 sections of top rail are simply epoxied together
If you do set one up, just make sure to set one of the 3 guy wires directly opposite of the way it lays down so you only have to pull 1 wire and the built to drop it.

Hell naw. Hit 34.8 this morning, right after it rolled in. Record for me was either 78 or 82 a couple years back.
I do need to move the guy wires up closer to the top on the pole, it shakes a bit in gusty wind on the last 5ft or so. Not a huge issue, but if it's raining, the shaking makes the precipitation gauge count too much

Ran into one at a customer site Dec 6.
It went something like this:
Policy was "masks while moving."
I walked out of their data center with my laptop bag on my shoulder, jacket on the same arm, laptop, power brick, and mouse under my other arm.
Zigged when I should have zagged and had to walk by some cubicles I normally would have avoided. I had forgotten to don my placebo (mask).
As he points at his mask, guy yells at me, "Where's your mask?"
I reply, "I think it's in my pocket" and keep walking.
He comes out to the hallway and barks, "Come here!"
I stop and turn to face him as he's marching towards me. He gets a few feet away and barks at me, "Who are you!"
I calmly and politely reply with my name and company name (I'm wearing a company shirt). He proceeds to berate and talk down to me about wearing the stupid fucking mask, blah blah blah. I say, "Sorry, my hands are full, I will put it on when I get in the cubicle." (masks were not required to be worn at the desks. Maskhole is more blah mask this blah mask that blah. Obviously he's created more risk by closing the distance.
When he's finally done with the word vomiting, I say POLITELY, "I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name."
"I'M GARY!", as he turns red and walks off in a huff. Most surely to go write a scathing email, signed: Ken. He most certainly is the self appointed mask Nazi there.

Fast forward to today. I get a call from my direct report manager and apparently this asshole complained and it got back to the Account rep. Guess I missed a call from her on the 10th and she thinks I ignored her. No follow up mind you. He's cool, knows me and that I'm not "confrontational," as maskhole reported. Relayed the whole scene above to him. Mind you, I've also had exactly 2 days off in the last 30 so I've been busting my ass on top of this.
My mgr and another that's on the client account got on the phone with the rep and I guess she got real shitty with them when they told my side and, rightfully, defended me against this corksoakers allegations (they both got my back for sure).
I really would like to go back there and punch that sniveling MF in the face. I can retire any fuckn time I want at this point so while it's water off a duck's back, the rep can take her shitty attitude and go fuck herself with an Omicron soaked cactus.

Oh, I haven't fot him yet, but I do have a head of lettuce and now a shotgun that just won't just dig a trench in the yard when I'm half awake. I'm just more prepared for the range I have to hit him.
I have to open a door, immediately turn 90degrees and hit him in a half second before he's past my back yard fence. Without shooting my pellet grill. My odds just went up. Sometime back I posted about nervous ticks and irritating crap folks do when they're talking......I have some new shit bugging me besides the previously mentioned neurotic deficiencies. Everyone knows about the hand gesture folks, and if it's really bad, just give up speech altogether and start using sign language instead.
I'm talking about the excessive head movement and facial expression people.
Lets start with:
"giraffe neck head bobbing". Nothing you're saying becomes more important because of this creepy movement, stop it. Usually accented with hand gestures. Think Kamala.
"left and right head weave". Are you searching your brain for some bullshit answer?
"repeated giant eyes". Oh, did someone just shove something new in your ass again?
"permanent giant eyes". Constant Shock....OMG!
"permanent huge smile". Are you having an eternal orgasm?
"intermittent huge smile". Are you having intermittent orgasms?
"rollercoaster". The G force of the conversation has overwhelmed you?
Not entirely related, but a couple more:
"breath of death". The giant sigh with or without the audible enhancement...often with a mentioned head movement.
"snorkeling". The audible inhale to begin every next sentence. What was your time in the marathon?
"groper". Can't keep your hands off your own face...... Fidget much?
"fly swatter". Either get a hair cut or start using a barrette to keep your hair out of your eyes....Psuki.

Found out yesterday we'll have our fourth guest staying with us this year....a new record.
Wife's brother and his wife will stop by here on their way home to Howard from a PHX suburb. They're good folks and it will be nice to see them. Bonus....we'll be having a super badass stew prepared for them using a portion of a 20 lb. prime rib wife got for cheap the other day.

After clearing all the blown down trees from last week I decided to bring in my favorite tree crew to take out 3 large spruce trees threatening my house. The largest was ~75 feet tall with branches overhanging the roof and fireplace chimney. The trunk was only 20 inches off the corner of the eaves. Eventually this and two others would have fallen on the roof and through the front windows. This effort is for both damage control and forest fire mitigation.
I'm good with dropping and processing large trees but when they're in danger of hitting powerlines or a house it's time to call the professionals to climb, limb and top them a section at a time. It's an awesome process to watch. The end result was a dramatic change opening the view up river even more.

I ve learned fast and someone told me about the special ladder. (After I fell).
It is only my 2nd time falling off the ladder. Good that I only have 6' ladder. Both were uneven grounds. (River rocks and yard/grass)
When people fall off the ladder. Make sure to detach yourself (away) from ladder in the air before ladder hit the ground. That can lead to broken leg in between step.

Against the odds, I've only had one ladder mishap. An extension ladder on wet concrete and steel plate.....as I was getting to the top the damn thing slid out at the bottom. I was young at the time and had no injuries.
I have had some close calls putting up xmas lights over the years though.
My major problem with ladders is that I will go up and down them, and then buy a bigger ladder.
