There's an NFA forum here.

Confused by your question.

In general from what I think I know:
Short (<16") upper can run on pistol lower or (form 1) SBR lower.
SBR lower can run original stamp length or (temporary) longer or different cal. upper.
Suppressor (form 4) is a separate issue.

Was mentioned vaguely earlier, you can shove a Sig SB15 "arm brace" on a pistol buffer tube/lower and run a short upper 100% legal.

That's pretty much the only type of stuff my telescope looks at. We are looking at spectra of various objects. One instrument (my new project) is looking towards the center of the milky way galaxy mapping the stars/objects we can't see through the dust lane (in near IR). The other is looking at quasars and other objects.

That's what I thought too, but the more I think about it, the more I'd like to get some suppressors. SBR/SBS/FA aren't really that appealing to me, but suppressors have a practical use. I've researched it a lot too and will definitely get one eventually (though it seems like now with the eForms going so fast is the time to get it because if you find a flaw in their system, you get it back in 4 days!)

This afternoon is just me. Get the bugs out and get it on paper. Then tomorrow he will dial in with me coaching.

We have a sweet little spot near Wiggins that is a bowl that the wind just blows over our heads. Just enough room to set a 50 yd range. If light wind tomorrow we can move onto the flat and stretch out to 100 yds.

So if you want an SBR, you get the tax stamp for the lower, then you can put any upper on that lower. Uppers are not firearms and have no serial number, therefore they do not require a stamp. Suppressors require stamps. Each item requires its own stamp. The NFA section of this forum is lots of help, but there are other forums dedicated to NFA stuff like silencertalk and snipershide. I bet a google search of "how to make a SBR" or "how to purchase a suppressor" would yield good results.

That's pretty much the only type of stuff my telescope looks at. We are looking at spectra of various objects. One instrument (my new project) is looking towards the center of the milky way galaxy mapping the stars/objects we can't see through the dust lane (in near IR). The other is looking at quasars and other objects.

Cool. One of the science labs at the museum last night was about that. The element table and how each element looks/spectrum bars. Dude had a "magic light box" he flipped some switches for different light intensity/spectrum, and we could see the bars light up in different colors/order. I didn't ask him, what happens when your object has 20 different elements, how does the equipment sort out all the different spectrums for the different elements?

Basically, each element affects light at a different wavelength, so the spectra that you get out, is a combination of everything. So in just one spectra, you can pick up as many elements as there are without any difficulty. It's really quite cool.

So you search your object using different spectra each time, multiple searches per target? What the guy showed us last night WAS really cool, I was really interested in the whole thing. I dig your job, BC. You rock.

I know how that goes, my wife will be leaving her job when we move and she plans to stay at home while we start a family. We've gotten a lot of bonuses recently that, skimming a tiny bit off for both of us, along with my monthly "fun" money, allowed me to buy my rifle. Once we move though, my free time for guns will drop off dramatically, so I won't be able to go out shooting as much. But, if I slowly buy components here and there, I should be able to build up a nice surplus of ammo so when I'm able to go shooting, I have a good stock. What I need to do now is get several different bullets and powders for my rifle and build up quite a few loads so that I have options to load up when I'm not able to go shooting.

OtterbatHellcat

So you search your object using different spectra each time, multiple searches per target? What the guy showed us last night WAS really cool, I was really interested in the whole thing. I dig your job, BC. You rock.

Well, what we do is get spectra from either 300 or 1000 targets per field, and we look at as many as 9 fields per night. Each target gives us its own spectra, which is then run through a data reduction pipeline and reduces the data to help sort it and look for basic key features.

Think of it like a typical house key. Sliding the key into the lock is the delivery method, aka the spectra. Then each tooth on the key corresponds to a different wavelength. One tooth indicates one element, another indicates a different element and so on and so forth. When you look at the key, you can determine which elements are present and when you look at the slot the key slides into (the shape of the spectra) you can determine what the object is, because different classes of objects have different intensities of the spectra depending on wavelength.

17 stages today. This is BRUTALLY difficult.

Heres a sampling:

515 yards, 5" circle, moving left to right, then right to left, and shoot it support side in a 12-16 mph wind. Oh and the speed of the mover changes in the middle of the run.

RAGE FACE!!!!!!!

my current hit percentage is somewhere around 15%.

the leader is somewhere around 40%.

Recon today, conquer tomorrow.

Tired as all heck. And I didn't do squat all day.

Any of you guys check out the trader joes?

I've only ever been to one and spent about 10min inside (Santa Fe: almost as full of hippies as Boulder) and it was so busy we were getting pushed around so we just left.

Sounds about on par. When we lived in cali there was one right near our house. Only went when I was too lazy to hop in the car. Same thing. Ex loved the place, go figure.

I answered a few work e-mails, wrote 2 work orders for some small jobs, sent some paperwork to the boat dealer and surfed Overton's, Amazon, COAR15, and a boat forum I found all damn day.

hcwt, here is 'bo family redneck cold medicine.

large mug

2 cups boiling water(amount of water used depends on mug size, we use large thick mugs for heat retention, about 16oz I think)

favorite tea(we prefer celestial seasonings sleepy time)

1 shot of favorite bourbon(we prefer Bulliet Rye)

honey - 2-3 teaspoons to taste(if more sweet needed use sugar, too much honey throws off the menthol)

lemon or lime juice - minimum 1/2 teaspoon(I don't like the citrus to overpower the tea, but many people use full teaspoon)

preheat mug(hot water from tap or boil extra water and preheat with it), add all ingredients except water and let sit for couple minutes to preheat, add water, stir well

Toddy is ready. Grab favorite wooby(pillow, blanket, pet, AR, Glock, whatever you like to snuggle, do not however, use wife unless she is already sick, you will be blamed for infecting her) and retire to comfy chair or bed. Keep mug near your face and breath in the steam til it cools enough to drink. Sip it but don't let it cool. Adjust recipe to taste but keep minimums.

The whiskey, citrus and honey give a menthol type effect and the steam helps carry it in. Whiskey heated contributes to pain relief, relaxation and sleep. Tea is soothing and contributes to relaxation and sleep.

Two toddy's and a dose of Nyquil are my own personal regime.

I think most families have this sort of recipe, this is our version for at least the last four generations and we swear by it.

Dang, that doesn't sound good! For what its worth, my dad had his knee replaced a few years ago and was walking around a few days later, and about a year later he got back into ironman triathlons and finished his first full one after the knee replacement.

I think my dad is waiting until he's just old enough that the replacement will last him the rest of his life. I'm trying to convince him when it wears out in 20 years, he'll be in his late 80s and it wont matter anyway...
