Okay, somebody better slap me. I just got back from the range and on the way back I'm thinking to myself
"Self, I don't think I'll ever need any other .223 ARs. I just put 10 shots nearly through the same hole with one, I've got a patrol/truck gun that is set up for hiking, shtf, bringing guests to the range, or whatever, and I've got a 10.5" SBR. That pretty much meets my needs"
Now sure, new products will come out that I will buy to dress them up, but I really can't think of a .223 need that isn't fulfilled by those three guns.
I must be sick.

Big pan of eggs scrambled and toast or muffins.

Depends on how high your sights are above the bore, but about 1.5 inches below center should be pretty darn close.

Go here and print out the zero target. It is the Military 25/300 meter zero.
http://www.bobdbob.com/~deneb/doc/targets/m4-carbine-zero.pdf
At a 25 meter zero you will be approximately 6+ inches high at 100 meters.
If you can push it out to a 50 meter zero (50/200) you will be approximately 2 inches high at 100 meters.
From there, you can adjust your sights and or scope to the + or - MOA to get you to the general 100 meter zero.

Irving, lots of folks like to zero at 50yds, because while shooting 55gr projectiles from a 14.5" barrel, you'll also be almost perfectly zero'd at 200yds.
If you only have a 25yd range, then may God have mercy on your soul. [ROFL1]
Seriously though, I always start at 25 just to get on paper. I've had factory sights be WAY off when sighting in and I've wasted a bunch of ammo by starting at 50 or 100.
I know about the 50/200 relationship, but as I don't really know what I'm going to do with this rifle, I figured I'd just pick a spot and go with it. A lot of this range trip will be function testing and I don't want to drive for over an hour for longer distances just to have some issue. Thanks for the links guys. I think there is a chart some where, but I was on my phone at the time.

Shooting at large pcs of paper is better than 1 or 2 small ones for zero. I set standard targets up on top of white butcher style paper. This way IF the POI is somewhere other than intended target, i have an idea where it's hitting. Instead of going, Anyone see where that hit?

FWIW, on anything that's going to run a red dot optic, I'll zero that first with a rough bore-sight, even if it's a visual look through the barrel with the action open. You'd be surprised how close you can get. Then, being as I absolute co-witness everything, I lolipop the irons to the zeroed optic and it's almost always within a click or few.
I can also usually zero a scoped setup within one or two rounds depending on conditions and ammo if you're close on paper after bore-sight and have the rifle in a sled. I think most of us know the technique, but take your first shot and then just place your crosshair back on the on the bullseye (POA) and then walk it into the hole the last round made by adjusting the turrets (POI). Key is to have a solid foundation and not move the rifle during the adjustment.
However, sometimes it's fun to just fuck around and waste ammo trying to get on paper. :D

Thanks dude. I don't think I'm really a great shooter, but I certainly have a nice shooting gun. And the whole setup wasn't as crazy expensive as some other guys' setups. I think I have about $1200 into it. I have more money into my SBR. [Dunno]

This song is on an Xbox dance game I have, and it made me cringe the first five times to listen to it, let alone dance to it. Now I know most the words and it gets stuck in my head.
The person who dressed up to record the dance for the game is a dude, as is everyone in the band.

HB...I AM NOT A RELOADING PRO by any stretch of anybodies imagination, but the kid and I reloaded 55 gr. Noslers with 22 grains of H335. We did some 50 gr. Zmax stuff at 24 grains as well. I've not put either through any of my stuff yet due to "life circumstances", but the kid had good results with the first loads mentioned, and the second loads did react differently, but I don't remember exactly how they did for him. I'd have to ask him to be sure, but there were no issues with either of them, I know that much.

So, the wife comes home from taking the daughter to work and wakes me up at 5:30 in the morning and says the truck has rolled out into the street and she can't get it started to pull it back in to the driveway. I get dressed and go out and check it out. It won't go into park so I shift to neutral and start it up, pull into the driveway and it just will not go into park. I set the brake and put it into reverse and shut it off. No worries, it does not roll away. When the Ford dealership opens I call them and explain the issue and they say that they have seen this before, bring it in, there is a problem with the linkage, it will cost me about $200 to fix it. Shit! $200! I call a local independent garage and they tell me the same thing. Shit. Shit. I call the auto parts store to see if they might have the parts needed to fix it, explain the issue and the counter guy says, no worries, Ford trucks do this all the time. I have had a few Ford trucks and have NEVER had this happen before. The guy tells me that the linkage under the dash has two bolts that have come loose and allowed some sloppyness into the linkage, just tighten the bolts and should be good to go. I check out YouTube and there were a few videos that covered this issue.
I get under the dash and believe me, for a big man like me, that was not so easy. I find the area he is talking about and sure enough, the bolt is loose. I go into my tool box and no T-30 to be found. I have the other sizes but not the T-30. I go over to the auto parts store, thank the guy behind the counter and ask if they have a T-30 torx. They don't. Neither did the store across the street but Ace Hardware did!
I buy the T-30, tighten the bolt and all is well. So, the local guys tell me $200 +/- and I fixed it for $7.50. I hate working on cars but it looks like I am going to need to develop a fondness for working on my Expedition from now on.

My Amigo does the same thing and I was the one who broke the linkage. I'd pay someone $200 to fix it in a heart beat!

< OR > you could have asked us first, and we would have given you the info sooner. Nice job on fixing it yourself though. I will add that the Ford shift shafts ( E and F series for sure) have plastic bushings (2) that wear over time, and need to eventually be replaced. ALSO, the shift handle TO the shift shaft PIN/HOLE will get hogged out over time as well. I've replaced so many of these over the years..the biggest factor is rapid handle movement and/or attempting to shift before foot is on brake pedal, and "slamming" it back up into PARK frequently. The only other thing that could stress the shift selecting system would be a shift cable that was offering too much resistance due to friction in the cable....and helping to loosen those bolts at the bottom of the shaft where the cable attaches on the pin. ETA... ALSO the pressure from the return spring at the bottom of the shaft assembly helps to wear out the the plastic bushings.
