I just saw that in a movie... funny.
When I trim, it flattens the neck so I have to clean up the edges anyway.
If I put in a Dillon trimmer, could I instead mount it to my RCBS turret head press? Then I could put my other sizer die just in front and save a lot of time.
I'm considering getting new tooling on the swager/chamfer station. They work, but I wonder about sharpness. The other day I experienced the difference between an old, dull hole saw and a brand new sharp one and it was amazing.
Hey, I've had this thing forever. I received it broken. Does this have value to anyone, or can I just throw it away?

If it works, after dropping some 30w to lube the vanes up, $25-30 on CL or a garage sale
I use to sell "non working. For parts only" on ebay long ago.
Now there are so many full-potato illiterate idiots who abuse ebay return policy to return the item because some cant read prior to purchse. I even bold/highlight on the description section as well.
After return, this stupid ass clown posts negative feed back like "Salesman SWOWS item on the PIKCHURE but not working."
Hmmm, it leaked pretty bad, but I wasn't sure if it was from that damaged grip. When looking at it, it doesn't really make sense that the entire gun would be pressurized. I'll take another look later I guess. It's way too nice of a gun to toss if it still works.

Keep that MAC inpact driver in your car trunk, and if you can remember it when you see a MAC tools truck, see if it can be exchanged.
I did that a few years ago with a couple of rusty Snap on ratchets I found in the dirt along the highway & got two new ratchets.
Is that a thing? I might do that.
So I actually mowed a lawn today, has to be a first for me mowing one in Dec.
Saw my neighbor mowing right before Thanksgiving, and have noticed a few freshly mown lawns when I take the dog for a walk.

Hand tools, life time warranty. Pneumatic tools are IIRC 1 year, Electronics 90 days - 1 yr. The air tools i believe will be offered a rebuild on.

Electric impacts and ratchets have come a really long way in the last few years, gives the air stuff a run for sure.
A broken Mac half inch air impact probably isn't really worth rebuilding, but if ya can still get some life out of it, I suppose.
So if I threw it in the trash, it wouldn't be like throwing away an SKS or something?

That's an Audi though, with a max torque spec of approximately 12ft/lbs across the whole car... :D
I have an electric 1/2" impact that does well for most stuff, but I still have to get my air impact out on occasion when the electric doesn't have the balls... For most people with a 1/2 ton truck or smaller, electric will be just fine.

The real question on the electric impact is. Can they use the same charging station they do for their car.

Even weirder is the landscape companies advertising . When in the valley we heard 2 on the radio letting people know it's never too early to winterize your sprinkler or drip system. Or cover your trees as temps can get down to the mid 40's

Yes, I've been hearing from vendors and friends that a lot of shops are primarily electric for about a year or two now. We have to have the air for the lifts for sure, and we still use Nitro Cat impacts for wheels and most heavier work, spring work and shit like that. All of us have and use electric screw guns and 3/8ths impacts for everything else.
Having enough batteries charged for them is just about the same level of pain in the ass as dragging the air hose around for all the stuff you're doing, so it's kind of a wash in the long run really.….if you're using the hell out of them all day long. The batteries are strong when new, but weaken rapidly on heavier jobs over time....and they are stupid expensive to replace more often than not...at least in my experience.

Don't you just have a charger or two with a battery always in it? That's what I do. I've got two chargers (used to have three) so I can run hard (for a homeowner) all day if I need.

Well, I do, and I also have several tools that use the same battery size. If two of them drop out on the same day, I can't use one of 'em until the next day unless I steal a battery from another and so on. I don't want to spend the money for six batteries and three chargers. Sucks if more than one cycles weak or stops taking a charge at the same time...$.

Understand. These guys are working in pristine shops, using single post hydraulic lifts and making sure they don't break a nail.
LOL. In all honesty, son's a team lead and rarely turns wrenches in the shop anymore. Guessing he still has a monthly tool truck nut for a while nonetheless.
Guys at shops likely aren't buying multiple tools that come with batteries and chargers like me either.

Okay, so I had to replace the towel rack in wife's bathroom. This bathroom is in need of remodeling and there have been enough towel racks installed since the 1960's that mounting options were limited. I informed her that I was going to put the new towel rack directly over the toilet paper holder, and would buy her one of those weighted stands so the toilet paper could be anywhere. Then Home Depot didn't have that toilet paper stand, so I thought of another solution. The Christmas party is tomorrow night. This is a test to see how much she loses her shit when she sees it. Obviously I'll tell her that I saw it on Pintrest. Snicker.

It's the back way to Jerome, over Perkinsville rd, if you stay to the right. If you turn left on farm road something or other you are going to Williams or Flagstaff. .

Guys at shops likely aren't buying multiple tools that come with batteries and chargers like me either.
I think it's important to try and be careful about how I say this...in fact I'm trying to be more careful about anything I type as I'm usually kinda hammered especially in the evenings. Full disclosure.
For a long time, buying quality tools absolutely meant not buying anything if it wasn't Snap On or from one of the *next in line* tool dealers if it's what you do for a living. Over recent years the quality gap has been closing, and doing so rapidly as well of late. Early generations of quality electric tools were insanely expensive and some kits came with chargers, and some with chargers and extra batteries....or you could just get the tool and use the chargers and batteries you already had. It's also expensive enough to upgrade to *this years new higher voltage*, or continue using the outdated shit until it breaks and then bite the bullet....besides buying the other required specialty tools, or the one you just wrecked cutting it in half to make the tool you need.
Yeah, they come with batteries and chargers....just write the check...;)

It's interesting to hear someone say that your (level of) education (upbringing/schooling/religion etc) is a filter for how you see life...followed up by examples of individual confusion about why stuff is the way it is. And then some answers, stuff that sounds good, feels good, positive... wait for it....
That's right, it's Jesus. I can't knock it, I got my toes wet at the edge of the pool once or twice, but I just couldn't go to the deep end on that one. Great idea though and it's cool it works for so many folks.
I've mentioned it before, but people that are really good at delivering a message are kinda fun to watch.

Iron Mikes w/ 20 pound kettle bell in each hand. Go easy at first, as you'll be surprised at their effectiveness.
Hrm... Chick sent me a PM asking WTH. Apparently, what I know as Iron Mikes is basically walking lunges, as that's what we called them in the Army -- typically we'd do them 50 yards out/50 yards back. It seems there's another exercise which involves jumping which also goes by the name (sort of a jumping/walking lunge thing? Bye knees). I would definitely not recommend jumping with weight. Heck, I wouldn't recommend the other exercise. Sounds awful on knees.

Finding 3-1/2 inch tubing that isn't schedule 40, or thin exhaust pipe, is really being a pain in my ass....and finding someone to bend the tubing if I can find it.
Wiring still sucks because it's very time consuming, and I can't do my relays the way I initially wanted to....which was made fun of anyways...I did get an alternate but similar outcome figured out and the switch plate is ready for fabricating into a housing. Relay panel and circuit breaker plans are set, and bundled cabling is getting run along with getting lights mounted.
Progress at a slow pace is better than no progress I figure.
There's a nominal chance that nobody really gives a shit about this part, but I saw a substantially lifted truck over here in Commerce City West, and I stopped to take a look at it. Mid 2000 gas with what looked like good spring work, and it had a higher end shock system installed, electric side steps, and some other shit. So...I'm starting to look more closely at the frame/wiring/etc.... rats nest spaghetti wiring everywhere and "shit, I think this will be good enough" installation ideals. Hack much, bro? I can't imagine how messy stuff is behind the dash or under the hood.
I really don't want to be "that guy" as I put this thing together.

I was like you in that way once & more than a little. Very pleased with my level of quality when it comes to items I've built for me & mine. Hey, Chick.
I'm trying to do this right, and there have been several times along the way that doing something faster and easier was an option. Kicking myself in the ass to try harder on that other stuff wasn't that bad....but yanking the chain on "easy wiring" is a bigger pill to manage at times. I do know I'll be better off in the end though.

12-17-2018, 22:39
JIC I may not have been clear... this project is for you & do it the way you want it done was my point. From what I've seen, the amount of thought & time you've invested, I suspect any 'good enough' you're faced with will shine by it's own merit & especially when measured by comparison.

G'nite folks.
Watching/looking at some of the workmanship one of these kitchen guys is doing the last 2 days is driving me nearly insane.
I have one guy that is super detailed and one that is a bt of a turd. The turd is putting up the tile backsplash and the accent stripe of glass/stone isn't as neat and straight as I would like. I've actually gone back after he left and straightened some of it - after bringing it up twice already... There was one cracked tile and a piece of accent strip tile that was cracked that I had to point out. I suppose some of this will be hard to pick up once it's grouted, but it still bugs me. The damn things are on backer mat, how friggin hard is it to keep things straight?
I do make sure to tell the super guy what an awesome job he's doing and that I appreciate his attention to detail. He did all the baseboard trim, handles, door alignment, and a few other finish items. I'm hoping he'll be the one to finish the tile work and grout/joint caulk as the other guy can't make it back Tue or Wed and we're scheduled to finish Friday with Final (wood) floor coating going in Thursday.

I hear ya. Had to suffer the idiot or lazy contractor more than once myself. Even worse when I knew I was the one being hired to come in & clean up what they were bungling. By nudge or by shove.

When the LE's are at your neighbors house arresting him as a serial killer, should we be worried about you.
Serial killing doesn't have the same benefits as an occasional winter lawn watering. Also, my neighbor would be the only serial killer ever that never left his house.

Wife has been getting in me about watching a Christmas movie with her. Last night I told her pick something out and I'll meet you on the couch. She picked Die Hard. Should probably listen to her faster in the future.

Mead. The church scenes were filmed at the little old white church in Mead. The wanted to film in CO for the winter snow effect. Unfortunately it didn't snow and they IIRC had to go to plan B using that fake snow material.

Winter is an uninvited guest....always. Directly to winter I would say, gfy.

I know that church! It is near the post office which use to close during lunch hours. Worked east side of i25 and hwy66 for 3 years. Gees. That was about 15ish years ago.
Thanks for the Die Harder fun facts which I did not know.

Highlight of the movie is the state of the art porcelain glock 7, which cost more than chief of police's paycheck (or was it salary).
So my work has a limited vacation policy where you can only carry over so much. It was use it or loose it. But they just changed it, so... back to work I go. And I will take some time of after 1st due to fam visiting.
Well it was fun, all 6 hours of it.

3-1/2 OD.....1/8th wall tube victory...finally. AND a vendor that can bend it to spec. Damn that's been a frustrating process to get accomplished.
Tube Service in Aurora will have the shit you need as far as tubing, but expect to buy a 20' length and wait for shipping from L.A. if not in stock...not that big of a deal when they can get what you need. Denver Pipe and Tube Bending, (who would have guessed?)...should be able to bend up anything to my specs according to the friendly guy at Tube. Might have a 4x4 shop in Commerce City (actual) that can make my light bar out of aluminum tube to spec, shit's looking good for progress right now. yay. One thing I want to do to the nerf bars once they get bent and welded up to the mounting brackets, is weld up some bungs on the bottom of them threaded for 1/4-20 bolts. I want to fab up some deflector shields to keep the sides of the truck from all the road/tire projectile abuse. Easy to take off and maintain with either undercoating or some such, and put back on periodically.
Relay board is assembled and installed, looks great with some neato fab stuff I did to the bracket I used for where it ended up under the hood. Made a couple of rock/shit deflectors for the frontward side floods that are kinda neato. Install those tomorrow.
A guy was looking at my progress today, and seriously said..."You know this thing should be in one of those magazines when it's done". THAT,.....felt really cool to hear, and to think about.

If i was still in the area. I'd introduce you to the woman who owned that property, and a modest portion of Mead at one time.
