We've lived here too long with not many improvements to show for it. Plus this time I'm hiring a contractor and just doing light weight stuff.

Emptying out the upstairs "office", getting ready to turn it into a leatherworking shop. Tired of doing it in the basement, which is already overloaded with reloaders, gunsafes and stuff. Going to go with hardwood floor, so have to get the upstairs spare bathroom and the "office" measured, and the rest of the house for new carpet. I HATE DOING THIS SHIT! Still, after 22 years in the house, it's time. Maynard The Wonder Cat has gone on to his great reward, and we're getting ready for my impending retirement...so while I'm still providing a paycheck, we need to spend the outrageous amount of cash needed to rebuild. Turns out...I've accumulated a LOT OF SHIT!!!

Sounds cool. We got spend an evening on the simulator doing shoot/no shoot reactive drills at ACC a couple years ago. Was fun and challenging.

I have what one would normally consider a smart mortgage company (Chase) and they can't seem to get the escrow dialed in each and every year.

I have considered contacting them to see if they would be willing to decouple the escrow. I have great credit, no PMI on a 15 year (refi) mortgage with 10 years remaining, and only owe about 35-40% of the home value depending upon who's numbers you use. I guess anyone can attempt to project taxes and insurance premium changes and do just as well.

I've spent hours caulking the base trim and window trim to tidy everything up. Put on some paint, and it looks like thick, globby, shit compared to the rest of the room. Everything was going well until the trim paint. F you paint.

I'm not a pro, and while I do have a few paint brands I prefer to work with, above all is the brushes. For me, paying $$ for Purdy brushes and keeping them serviceable is worth it.
