Maybe glance at the rules, because I don't know, but often pistol targets need to be engaged at least twice. So see if your favorite range will let you do double and triple taps.
There is of course much more to competition shooting than being able to pull the trigger fast. In fact I'd say that's one of the last skills you should work on, BUT I've seen many people with admirable marksmanship skills being intimidated about going fast just because they've never actually tried it before.

Well I didn't know about much when I showed up for Hoser's or the PRS match & I did fine. I'm just nervous because it's new & there will be super talented people there.

Also, no matter who you are, you get to a big match and see the speeds that veteran competitors are running at and it's overwhelming. People tend to focus on how fast someone else just went, and focus on that speed, to their detriment. You're going to feel slow, and that's perfectly okay. For a first match you should really be focusing on safety and fundamentals. I think with you coming into this later in life, and not being full of testosterone puts you at an advantage and makes you a good learner.

Last thing. If you're getting all zeros, or A/B zone shots, then pick up your pace until you aren't. That will let you know when you're at the edge of your current ability, and in the doorway to your next level of skill.

Pretty much this. In fact, you already have accomplished the two requirements of starting a sport, not being a pussy and actually showing up, and knowing how to learn. Those are the two body hold ups for most people and you don't have that issue. Do forget anything else I said cause you'll be just fine.

Based on how fast you've progressed in the short time you've been shooting. Doubt you'll have an issue. It's competitive but also a learning experience and fun.

When it comes to shooting guys tend to (and no, not all guys):
1. Have bad habits from doing it before
2. Already know because just like anything else that a "real man" should know - they know
3. Try to run before they can walk - skip the basics and go straight to what they want to do

I can say that of the people I teach, the females tend to make more progress.

Sorry to hear this. But sometimes with family it sadly takes a crisis to pull things together. Just know it is never too late to try again. No family that I am aware of is "fully functional" everyone has their problems.

I wore Body armors (65% soft inside the uniform AND 35% plate carriers) EVERY DAMN DAY (5days/wk +) for 4 years, average of 8-10 hours at cold and hot temperatures. Pedometer was measuring 8500 to 14000 steps per day.
After 4 years later, I had joint(s) issue(s) and got a knee replacement surgery.
Oh yeah, I got a hypertension from that too. So, I am taking meds for that as well.

No way I am gonna wear an armor at the range. :D
Another note: If someone wants to quickly lose weight by taking martial arts, take Fencing or Kendo. You will lose so much water weight from sweat.

Yeah, they still make it in 22 but call it a Wildcat now. I looked at a bunch of reviews and articles and the quietest Whisper is the 177, and that's what I think I need for this property right now. Another $150 purchase ain't takin' food off the table.. :) I saw the whisper line of pellets, or version thereof, and like anything else, I should do extensive research for the best stuff for the job. I'm doing what I can do NOW and get it here. Both of these air rifles will be useful for my GF and I for a long time and that suits us well.

As usual, I'm always interested in hearing input from you guys about this stuff. I also don't mind getting a Whisper in 22 later on.

It is a bummer to hear about the truck however, that shit sucks no matter what, but it always seems a bit harder to absorb when it's self inflicted. I am familiar with the feeling.

A bolt .22 with subs should be barely louder than the hammer drop. :-) The 10/22 isn't even close with the auto action. I haven't tried holding it closed, I understand that cuts it down a lot.

The air rifle *is* different. I wouldn't' call the Whisper "springy" as there isn't one, just an air cylinder. Hard to describe.

Brutal, I don't have a can, which is why it's so impressive that my .22 is more quiet than the Whisper next door. The CCI quiets are louder in my .22 but I think it's more due to the shorter barrel because the Quiets won't cycle the action.

Your neighbor might be using supersonic pellets. The Crossman hollow points I use are subsonic out of this rifle @750FPS (though now that I have one, I want to chrono them!)

Not an issue, if you clean the chamber & bore afterward. Like shooting 38 spl in a 357 chambered revolver, one needs to clean the cylinder. However i recommend shooting in a firearm that will accept 22 shorts.

Usually Salmon Relay goes bad. (5 prong relay). Hydraulic system is solid.
I thought my Salon relay went bad, and ordered salmon relay. I found out the battery terminal IBS that goes into the top wasn't plugged. :D

Based on what they're asking in big box stores. It's actually cheaper to do it yourself and had a finished project, built as you needed.
