I wore out my gas tube, well all but. Going to have to replace that after the match.
ChickNorris

Why after? Rather go in knowing what's fussy than untested. Ive had to make repairs a day or two before and it never works out well.

ChickNorris
04-27-2019, 06:04
Ya know I would if I knew where to slow down.
; -)
And how many rounds do you have through that rifle that you need a gas tube and a cam pin?
My highest round count rifle was nearly 20K rounds (over about a fifteen year period) before I needed to replace anything other than gas rings or springs.
ChickNorris
04-27-2019, 06:10
One day you're going to clean out your gutters & find all the Saturday burritos... like a Walter White thing only different.
Aww. You were going to slow down when you toss the burrito? You?re so nice.
You can fling it anywhere along 120th this morning. I?ll be running west heading to superior this morning.

ChickNorris

Scratch that. Opened a new batch so in the 17s now.
Well, I suppose after roughly $5K worth of ammunition spending a few bucks on the rifle isn?t a big deal.

God Da?n piece -O- Shi* GMC Truck ! Less than 75K miles on it and the transmission is toast !
Saturday morning went to go get a hair cut, stated the truck & waited a minute or two for the high idle to slow down to normal, then put the shifter in reverse. Then I hear a loud metallic ringing clunk and go to back out the driveway and nothing ! The engine reved, I heard a metal grinding sound but nothing, if it weren?t for the light down grade to the street my would have stayed motionless.
Then I put the shifter in drive, gently push on the accelerator, nothing but more of the metallic grinding sound then the RPM?s got to about 1100 - 1200 then BANG & The tires squawked and the truck shot up the driveway.
I?ve had GMC & Chevy trucks for most of my life and ever have had one go out even on the second time around on the odometer Ben getting close to the third time around.
I?m not set up to do the repair myself, even if I was the remanufactured transmission will run about $1400 - $1600. And all the transmission shops are quoting $2100 - $2400 for supplying a remanufactured transmission and labor for R&R.
Rant over.

You left out the mashed, crushed fingers and or hands, dirt & fluid in the eyes and mouth, all the cussing & yelling, kicking the dog and fighting with the wife and possibly a visit from the local police when I put a couple of hollow points into a fender or two........ I hate to say it, but yeah, write the check.
Yep, I am 3 weeks into the clutch and the wife is not happy. All sore as hell, scrapes and bruised too. But I got it back in, and need to hook up driveshafts and exhaust.
Waiting on a bolt. ECS had a trans install kit with 10 bolts. Problem is that one of the bolts that needs replacing is missing. They are doing me right and overnighting the bolt.
If the shop had quited me $500 for labor that would have been it. But it was over 1k, plus the clutch was 2x retail. Still might have just paid it had I know the issues I am dealing with.
I'm tired and rambling. Ugh.

Most likely it is this if its a half ton.
I was under my truck a lot this weekend too. Only it was in the desert since we were camping in Moab. Minor stuff, but car stuff takes me a long time to do by myself. Then once I fixed the minor stuff, I immediately took a test drive through camp and high centered on a rock and punched a hole in the scavenge pan of the tranny and pinched a wire in half. So that was actually a major issue that left to my own devices would probably take me a week to fix on my own in my garage. My awesome friends helped me do it in a single night, in the dirt and in the dark.
Speaking of transmission, I was about to post this on Vehicle thread, but I would rather post it here . (so that it won't get hijacked by other manufacturer fanboys. Or certain power unit fans.)
So, My mother and I was going to Parker to take care of something, and her vehicle transmission in the middle of Parker Rd won't get into 1st gear. Put it on P and Changed it on N and D, and it still would not engage a gear.
When we turned off the vehicle in the middle of the Parker Rd with hazard sign, and started the engine on, it was finally back to normal. (Assholes were honking like uncivilized people.)
We parked the car at the strip mall, and tried to see what the heck is going on. Nothing. No code. No warning light.
I know this transmission was "lifetime fill", but it was not really a true statement. Damn Daimler Corporation.
The Mercedes 722.9 transmission comes from the factory "sealed for life", yet they make a replacement transmission filter, fluid and gasket.
https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Mercedes-W204/153-TRANS-Transmission_Fluid_and_Filter_Replacement/153-TRANS-Transmission_Fluid_and_Filter_Replacement.htm

Sounds like a broken sun shell, Bob. At least I think that?s what they call that part. Kind of the week link in the design. Not an expensive part but if you go that deep into it then might as well freshen the whole thing up anyways.

Those sealed units (IIRC) usually require mfg specific fluid. My toyota does, even thought there are 2 kinds available. Unfortunately, vehicle takes the dealer specific fluid, of course.

They shouldn't be anywhere but the HOV lanes. I looked at a few nice jeeps and tacomas , decent if not below book, clean, etc. Till i got to the bottom of the description. 2WD ?? WTF is that about?

Did you know in a food grade 275 gal. tote that was used for honey or agave. There's approximately 7-12 gallons of liquid remaining once no longer in use for food service.

Did you know in a food grade 275 gal. tote that was used for honey or agave. There's approximately 7-12 gallons of liquid remaining once no longer in use for food service.
AND if you don't tilt and empty before trying to rinse them out, you get a very slooooow moving coagulated slug that takes forever to work it's way through a 50' hose.
You should hope the sludge is only honey and isn?t something else nasty

Well even though the weekend is over. Being retired is always the weekend ;) so (drum rollll)
Here's what 55 T of 3/4" driveway gravel looks like. Color difference is from a lot of it getting wet last drizzle we had.

Rant over.
By the way, I took the wife?s car and got the hair cut......
I have been admonished by a certain member here that ?I should take back all the bitching that I did? when it turns out that my trans isn?t bad after all, and it is the transfer case selector switch that is the culprit.
So, I take back all the bitching..........
Much better than a whole transmission.
I'm currently on day two of what should be an hour repair on my transfer case. Think I'm going to have to order the appropriate seal online directly from Isuzu.

No, because even if I had the coin, I'd never own a Class A pusher. Not my cup of tea.
That said, I see nothing wrong there. A friend tows a Geo tracker and a big ass jetski trailer behind his Class A.
However, the right way to do this is: Pickup truck, 5th wheel, trailer.
We have more room in our little 32' fifth than a 36' pusher. Maybe not as fancy.

I started to, but the 2.9% credit card fee pisses me off. They did a break down of the fees and I have a $10.00 "Age of Vehicle Add On" that was making me furious. So I went and got exact change in less time, and for less money then the mail in would have cost. The lady couldn't tell me what the fee was. Walked in to a MVD Satellite store after buying the jeep. There's 1/2 doz peole sitting there, lady ask, Drivers Licenses or lic plates? Plates, sit down she says, 10 min. later it's plated for the next 2 years.
$154 but $64 was for 2 years worth of APS highway safety taxes.
Even the state rum MVD is no more than a 10-30 min adventure, depending how many vehicles you're plating.

Well they have to make up for the ownership taxes that should be really low now. They need your money, and the more fees they pack in, the better
I haven't tipped at the DMV for years now.
We did an emission on 2008 vehicle, and it looks like they plugged something on OBD2 plug. Then they said it passed without doing any tests.
ETA: It was regular vehicle.
The whole vehicle emissions testing garbage in Colorado is just a scam. If Colorado gave two shits about the environment they would look into ways to relieve traffic congestion and maybe develop a better public transportation system.

Perhaps that "age of vehicle" BS is why my wife's tags on a 14 year old vehicle went up by $10 from last year.
I bet that's exactly it. My favorite is the FEES CONTINUE ON BACK.
Just reading that makes my eye twitch. What the hell is the $0.50 insurance fee? I figured it was the fee to check for insurance, but nope, there is already a $0.10 MOTORIST DATABASE INSURANCE FEE.

The whole vehicle emissions testing garbage in Colorado is just a scam. If Colorado gave two shits about the environment they would look into ways to relieve traffic congestion and maybe develop a better public transportation system.
They should close downtown denver to all vehicle traffic from 8-5. This way everyone would have to rely on mass transit or pedal their ass to work. That would show how serious all the greenies who love the metro area's ambiance are, about climate change .
Then put the freeloaders camping in the city to work, running rickshaws. They're given a job and exercise, win win
Good luck on the Turkey hunt wyome.
Good luck! Hope you get one
Thanks folks...day 2 in the blind. Couldn't call em across the river, 200yds a lil far for a bow shot. We'll keep working em

They make more money by holding a sign and not having to do anything.

Looks like on early voting returns that Denver's Initiated Ordinance 300 is going down 60% against, 30% for.
Drove through the Cherry Creek and University Hills area over last week-end. Almost every other house had a No on 300 sign.
Gee, I wonder why?

Sadly this won't stop them from suing the city for the right to do whatever they want on public property
Huzza! Das Audi is done.
Drives fine, no leftover random parts. Clutch grips good.
Good feeling when no leftover parts.
Good feeling when no leftover parts.
I learened my lesson on that. Everything in sandwich baggies, with labeling. Bit OCD, but it makes life easy.
I use to live in very small town near Longmont 15 years ago. No emission required there. I believe that town now needs to do emission.
Colorado Springs still only has emissions for diesel. Last time I had diesel, 1 place in the county that did diesel emissions test. It wasn't cheap and no appointment the next day.

Holy shit....I actually got the titles/plates/tags/etc. for the trailers. I thought for sure the different addys/DL would have made someone's head start on fire. If you ever go to the Flakewood DMV, look for Karen at desk 10. She's the shiznit.

I've got some work to do to the flatbed today, install winch/battery set up. Had an idea about a removable bracket at the end of the trailer that would support a fairlead, probably wont have time for that today though.
Anyone ever heard about the ball pitch on a WD ball mount? I've seen some that were leaned back and I wondered why, interweb said leaning the ball back adds more tension just on the front trailer axle. Whole thing sounds retarded, but if you have real world experience with this, I'm curious. I could take tire temps after a 100 miles and see if that shit is real. Anyways, I'll get my hitch set up after winch is done.

Having coffee with the deer this morning. The princess would be pissed if she knew. They seem to like the new fence we are building.
