Yo Bogie, how'd the sump repair go?

bogie
04-05-2014, 22:37
I have two of the 36" models and I love them. I barely use my range bag any more because the voodoo cases hold extra stuff very well. I've had mine both for 2 years and they are holding up very well.

FWIW, my cases each hold two rifles, but they also have two padded pistol pockets, along with some other interior pockets for holding targets, etc. the exterior pockets are great: the two end pockets each hold 4 PMags nicely and the center pocket is great for holding other ammo or range gear.

Thanks for the mini review HB. I may just go ahead and buy one to try as a one stop range bag. I'm always cramming two rifles or carbines in one bag, which defeats the purpose. Plus I put my mags and pistol in my range bag. This would eliminate all of that with a single bag. Sounds like it would make a nice bug out rig too.

Durability doesn't seem to be an issue. What about colors? They're always hard to judge in inter web photos. Any particular color recommendations? I'm not all that picky, but for bug out, the color could be more important...

I got mine in coyote tan because dust and dirt does show up on it very much. All my gear is either OD green, coyote tan, multicam, or some combination of the three. They could make great rifle kit BOBs, depending on your needs.

There is a condensate drain line coming off my furnace. It drains into my sump well. I think it's clogged or something and the water is pooling around the base of my furnace since it's not draining down the normal line.

i initially thought my sump pump wasn't working when I saw the water on the floor. But I lifted the cover and the water level was fine in the sump so I know the pump is working.

Just trying to catch up.

Burned up my 25 year old POS grinder/polisher today. Cheap WEN I probably bought at a cheap Western Auto parts store in my younger days.

Can't find the Makita variable speed polisher kit locally so I'll have to pop for the $229 Dewalt variable. I hate not being able to find stuff I need TODAY locally.

Couple simple questions and possibly a couple programs. I will hit you up via pm later tonight or tomorrow. Just in the beginning stages right now so nothing immediate. Thanks bro! [Beer]

In that case, I'm probably not your guy. The way we write the code is to build the parts/assemblies in NX8.5 (like Solidworks only more powerful). Then we have to go into manufacturing mode, create the tooling we need/want to use, perform speeds/feeds for all tooling, perform cutting paths for the tooling, then run the final manufactured model through Vericut to ensure we don't have any collisions with part walls, vise, etc. Then, we have to get a post-processor for the specific CNC we will be using and run it through that. At that point, we get gcode and have only barely skimmed the surface of what the code actually means.

Talk to your machinist, they may be able to feed their CNC a variety of code. I have saved Solidworks parts as parasolids and the machinist sent it straight to the machine (or they were able to convert it from parasolid to gcode). There are definitely methods around writing gcode, I'm pretty sure no one does that anymore.

On the flip side, does the machinist HAVE to have the gcode, or are they capable of reading shop drawings and machining parts that way on the CNC?

It' very good but I haven't been there for brunch in forever. Last time I recall was we took the two Mom's there for Mother's Day brunch when they were in town for one of the kid's graduation, so probably 2003 when my youngest graduated. The Friday night seafood buffet was always great as well.

Mine are both the one in your first link with straps. I've never used the shoulder straps, but I tried them out once and it felt a bit awkward to carry any real amount of weight that way. 2 ARs with 8 mags and other shooting accessories is quite heavy and I don't know if there really is a good way to carry it, but it definitely doesn't feel like a backpack.

Need to get those loads tested too, so I can move forward with reloading again.

Congrats on the new big boy scope, OBC! I would find no added value in buying any scope that costs more than $400 because I don't have the skills to use it properly. Right now, a $300-400 scope works just fine, but I look forward to the day when I can fully appreciate a nicer scope. Honestly, I don't think any of my equipment limits me... I think I am the limiting factor in my shooting. Need more useful range time, less blasting.

FALSE. You are only limiting and hindering your own progress by not knowing what good equipment looks and feels like. People don't learn to race cars in a stock Geo metro. Once you look through GOOD glass, I'm betting you will immediately see why you should have it.

Do you still shoot pa-paw's .22 lever action? If not, then you can always benefit from better equipment.

You don't know what you don't know. I think my shooting skills need to be improved to make better use of the equipment that I have, but I'll take your word for it on this one. Either way, if I don't have the money to buy a box of SRPs, I sure as heck don't have the money available to buy a $1k+ scope.

FALSE. I have been offered several sponsorship deals, mostly of the low end of the totem: Half price, At-Cost, Etc. Things like that. Nothing big, nothing that fancy. Then they find out that I'm on orders and shooting for my unit and they realize I can't take the money AND be a sponsored shooter. My unit would punch me right in the huevos.

Howdy Fellers.

Long day, striping another new car. Once I completed installing a 7 ft. circular decal up on the roof of the vehicle, I reinstalled a gps antenna, got distracted for a moment, then turned towards the edge to get on the ladder to get down.........and managed to drive my left knee directly INTO the 3 inch tall said antenna which is mounted quite stoutly. A few things happened at that moment, not the least of which was my knee telling me, convincingly, to fuck the hell right off....and still kinda is. ouch.

Glad you're feeling better Lobo, hope stuff on your front is okay, brother.

HB, you might not have seen some other posts I've made about my somewhat limited experience with scopes. I've openly admitted that I can use more time with my Nikon M-223, ($350) and plan to do so when it's mounted on a different rifle. The reasoning I've used in getting higher quality glass is based off of a few different things. One would be "old man" eyes, and another would be that I eventually plan to get a designated distance rifle in the somewhat near future. I'm buying some accessories for this AR 223, that will be transferred over to that new rifle whenever that time comes. One that is capable of shooting accurately at distances of over say, 1500 yards...on the equipment side of things.

The other side of the gun that actually makes it go *bang*, is a whole other story. That guy, has a lot of work to do, no matter what,...... but I'd rather be doing it with quality stuff. Is my new scope going to be more capable than I am right now? Yes, it is...and that is the challenge that I have provided for myself, and readily accept.

Went shooting this morning, Glock 23 and M&P40c. Chrono'd some loads to find the most accurate load between the two pistols and also to chrono them to have an idea of what I'm shooting. The chrono worked flawlessly, bright sunny day at a low angle (9am) and used the shields it picked up every single shot.

Saw about a 35 FPS difference in the loads between the G23 and M&P40c, obviously due to the shorter barrel on the M&P40c.

Also, I SWEAR I could feel the M&P40c slide cycling VERY slowly. Not sure what that was about, but it happened about 20% of the time for all the loads.

Now that I think about it more, it wasn't all of the loads, I think it was the lowest (3.9gr WST - my old pet load), then not 4.3gr (new pet load) but was on 4.6gr and not on 4.9gr or 5.1gr (and yes, I realize 5.1gr is higher than max, but I was below the 930FPS max in the M&P40c, didn't shoot this load in my Glock).

I don't know about up there but they're calling for snow this weekend in the Springs. Granted, given the soil temp, I suspect sprinklers *should* be okay.

I'm taking my chances. I'm so ready for green grass - I've been hose watering for about 2 weeks and I got the in-ground sprinklers going on Tuesday. I really don't think this weekend's *potential* snow is going to freeze the ground 12" down. I'll just make sure the backflow preventer is cleared out before it freezes.

I appreciate your sig line BTW.

Been watering the ol ladies lawn too. Gotta lay some sod down as well. Yay.

Been watering the ol ladies lawn too. Gotta lay some sod down as well. Yay.

Our sod didn't get much of a chance to get healthy last year because it was planted late in the season and it was incredibly hot with watering restrictions for a few weeks, and then it froze very early. I'm hoping by getting started early I can get the grass healthy enough for the kiddo to play on by June. If it looks like we're going to have a hard freeze, I'll drain the system. In Colorado, it's very possible to have a hard freeze well into May or even June, depending on your elevation. I didn't blow my sprinklers out this winter and everything worked fine when I fired them up this week.

So McJunior, am I thinking on the right track? I'm no landscaper, I just played one for a summer in high school.

There's no faster way to ruin your day than getting a bad peanut in the last peanut M&M you eat from the bag. That NASTY taste just sticks with you.

And then you think to yourself, what if I had eaten the GREEN one last... [Dunno]

I think we're good now. Sunday night is supposed to drop below freezing, but the ground is warm, so I figure I'm okay.
