Ah, well that's nice.
The point of having the avatar in the first place, is for others to actually see it. Thank you for sharing your member user experience regarding it's actual visibility.... I appreciate knowing that it is functional now.
Anything for you Mr. Chitwood. Anything for you.

Happy Hump Day.
Had a long day today. Looked at 21 different structures, including some new stuff I've never been on before. Technically I've climbed a windmill before, but this time I got paid to do it. :)
Also this happened.

That's on top of this four story building. It was over 100 years old and was pretty impressive in person. Even more impressive was that the reason it was in the middle of the roof, is because they added on to the building later, so originally that thing was on the side. Lots of brick work likely done by hand back then. Impressive.

Wind blew some stuff over. I've driven past about 10 others blown over. One of them all 8 towers blew over, the entire run except for the pivot itself.

The roads out here are so full of water that the day after it rains, you can barely do 40mph on the best dirt roads, unlike the 75mph you can do out in Colorado. Google doesn't recognize these unmaintained areas and tries to route you through them. One of the few times I say to myself, "Maybe I should get a truck."

Corn. What's better than walking on metal roofs? Doing it with work boots after you just walked through ankle deep mud for 50 yards just to get to the structure. Can see foot prints all the way from the ladder.

Heya GG.
How's stuff going for ya?
Damn good. Back to reality tomorrow. But it was a nice few days of bliss.
I highly recommend this place: Inn at Lost Creek in Telluride. Holy cow, I'm seriously impressed with this place and I've traveled quite a bit. A++

I bet you could sell some now that people have no windows. Bet they wish they'd bought them.
I was trying to sell them when I had zero money coming in for weeks on end, and nothing coming in the immediate future. Even selling at $1 under retail and offering to deliver they weren't going anywhere. Now selling isn't even worth my time.
Anyone looking for a random creepy avatar? Well look up some Cydney Grossman clown prints and have at it!

Slow news day in Lake Wobegon?
What, is everyone out enjoying the weather? While I'm stuck in a basement? Where's the solidarity!?
Finished putting flares on my truck.
For $500 you'd think they would fit better and not require extensive trimming and proper hole placement.
They're wider than I had expected, I really just wanted something to protect the wheel wells from rocks as they're starting to get kinda beat up after 14 years.
Getting ready to go to work....napped as much as I could in preparation for a long ass shift

Bushwacker, the medium sized smooth, non fake screw pocket model.
Missed my opportunity to get a set of OE Power Wagon flares years ago, now they seem to be tough to find.
ETA: Of course, now when I look again, I'm finding them on fleabay for a little less than I paid for what I bought....
I'm a little concerned with the rubber seal and no double sided tape, but I'll keep an eye on things and re-install if needed.
Want to get the truck cleaned up more before any pics and with the rain today and expected tomorrow, it might be a while.
I've got like 100' of double sized tape (with foam backer) that I got off of Amazon for about $18.

Well, it's still dirty, but I needed to get pics sooner or later. They look better in person, but I'm still not convinced I made the right choice with the relatively (+2) mild tires I have. If the rubber seal pulls out or starts rubbing the paintwork, they're coming off and I'll find a set of factory Power Wagon flares and add tape if needed. No doubt they'll help keep crap off the truck, but they still look kinda goofy IMHO with those size tires/offset.

I feel like every chain tastes better when you're traveling. It's like an unstudied law of human nature.
Probably the novelty of something other than wolfing down gas station peanuts or BK drive thru fare between stops.

Interesting....seems to me that homemade shit or take out/drive through shit is basically the same wherever I go.
Then again, I'm one of those guys that makes five days worth of breakfasts and lunches on Sunday's, and eats the same thing all week. Perhaps I've ruined my taste buds? It works.
eta...and it's economical.
My van isn't the worst, but it's pretty dirty with road warrior status. Long trips usually involve sunflower seeds that inevitably end up on the floor. If I'm feeling really froggy (and am in a large enough town), I'll pick up some cigars for the return trip. Then when I finally get home my mouth is ruined in two different ways, my van reeks and is covered in bugs, birds, and deer, and I feel like an absolute monster just stewing in my hot seat for hours on end.
OBC: I have a distinct memory of a family trip to the east coast and we stopped at a Taco Bell and even at 12 years old I was thinking, "this is the best Taco Bell I've ever had!!!" I think it has something to do with being a bit travel weary and a familiar comfort food hitting the right spot. For the record, I had the Road Kill Diner tonight, and even though it was just chopped steak with onions and mushrooms on top, it was pretty damned good.
Oh yeah, and it is barely raining here, and the power went out for about 10-20 minutes. I thought that was weird.
Looks good. Offset looks fine.
Thanks,
Now I'm thinking about (factory) rear well liners, they're dirt cheap and will make cleanup easier.

You sure those are cee gars you're smoking
Zundefolge and I don't agree on many things, but Taco Bell is one of them. I like Taco Bell. It tastes a way that I like and expect. I don't compare it to authentic Mexican because it isn't, but it is good.

I eat taco bell to clean out the system, forget exlax give me a little loaded pintos with cheese and the green sauce........
I hear you Trot shits crazy expensive anymore. Wife and I were reminiscing about how a $100 could last us a week with food and gas.....memories....
I eat both Taco Johns, and Taco Bell.
No remorse.
Del Taco is good as well, except for the fact that they serve fries.
The explanation of why Mexican food is too expensive is total bunk as it applies to every single type of restaurant.
$9 for a bowl of noodles? F-off.
15 for a burger? Chomp on a dick.
Etc etc
Del Taco!! Love them chicken soft tacos!
Best Mexican food is the food I don't gotta make....that's why I pay for the convenience of a restaurant, but if I can find a taco truck I'll do that every time
Try either Arceos in the springs, almost as cheap as ff mexican, but a lot better. Never go away hungry either.

Stop talking about Taco Bell! There is only a Waffle House, Subway, and Texas Roadhouse within walking distance.
Waffle House is like the Taco Bell of gringos. Delicious.
The only one I know about in Colorado is a mile from me, and I've never been there, nor do I have plans to go there.
You're missing out. Greasy diner food is the best.
Well, I thought the sound of Chicken and Waffles was gross my entire life, and look what I've been missing out on! I found out that there is not a cafeteria at my training facility and the closest place to eat (Subway) is about a mile away, and it's 100 degrees out. So I'm considering either doing a 24 hour fast (almost did today) or just walking to Subway now and ordering dinner, breakfast, and lunch all at the same time .

Energy bars and some Jolt Cola.
If you decide to check out the local Waffle House, based on visits after bar closings. You might be offered a side of meth with your meal.

At one time (post vietnam) the discourse between locals and new asian arrival fishermen was tense. If not outright at times, violent. That included the whole Gulf coast area also.

Had a 3rd interview with a company I REALLY want to get into this morning - after working an 11 hour grave shift - with 2 folks that would be my counterparts. Next step is a "panel interview" with 3 or 4 execs blasting questions at me like a firing squad.
It went well this AM, I think. I just want to put my notice in and start a new gig already!!

It was suggested that Vietnamese food already has many French elements due to a France occupation at some time thought history.
It was also explained that Vietnamese-Cajun is NOT a thing in Louisiana, as they don't have the Viet population to pull it off.
Anyway, enough of that, off to new adventures today.

Working 4 - 10s sure messes with your thinking. Thought it was Saturday, sitting in front of a business that that opens at 1000 hrs on Sat. But got here and it is Friday, and they don’t open until 1100 hrs !
Guess I will be first in line when the doors open.......
I worked four tens for eleven years. You get used to it. Switched to a job working every other Friday and it was difficult to get used to. Finally got used to it and switched to a different job and back to four tens. Four tens is the best. You can get a lot accomplished on Friday and still have a normal weekend. I just finished doing my yard work.

Culling roosters isn't that fun. Even though one of them was a dickhead that bit, and started crowing every 30 minutes starting at 3:00 am this morning up until about the time I slit his throat.
Dad used to kill chickens in the backyard. We didn't raise them, he'd buy like 30 of them and chop their heads off with a hatchet and toss them into a 50 gal drum. He missed a lot.
Got the dog once. Dumb bitch Terrier stuck her head up between his legs from behind as he was cleaving one. Just about took her snout clean off. Vet bill cost way more than he saved butchering those chickens that year. Surprised that dog lived through it.
My ducks hated that rooster. I was chasing him around the yard and let him get away. That duck chased him all around the yard by herself. It was a sight to see! The ducks generally walk away from me when I'm in the yard. While I was culling the first rooster, both ducks we right behind me, and the second rooster a few feet behind the ducks. The hens were as far away as possible. For both roosters, when I laid them in the yard to get the head all the way off, that one fucking duck was right next to me and would start chomping on the legs as soon as I laid them down in the grass. I'd push the duck off and it'd do a barrel roll in the grass, then be right up and start rooting around under the wing. Happened for both birds. Craziest thing I've ever seen.
I could actually tell which was the alpha rooster because his comb has bruises on it from the one duck taking his ass to town and biting him all the time.

Nature of the Beast - Don't fight your nature.
Adapt and improvise if you can't overcome.

Perhaps evaluate the emotion causing your "stubbornness" ….., and then logically assess the reason why your mind is allowing it to happen.
Then ask yourself "Is it worth it?". Many times it's just better to let stuff go when it honestly doesn't really matter...just a thought on it.
I'm stubborn about everything but mostly the dentist. Needed to head in late last Friday but refuse to pay bs after hours / weekend rates. Pain hits in waves up to about 6 so I'm holding out till tomorrow.

I hate going to the dentist my friend. Have since I was a kid and it will never get better, but I do know that the lady doing my work is top notch and the hygienists are also top notch.
I had a cavity filling drilled out and replaced about a month ago, and I seriously lock up and hold my breath waiting for the pain while the drill is in the tooth, or the crown process is underway...but they do shit right. Seems I'd rather get into a car wreck than sit in that chair.

*If the roofer was naked, wrapped in Saran wrap.
Well, I was going to say, "It seems you have truss issues". But that might be more of a different trade problem. So I suppose they'd have shingles, but that's for a real doctor to say.
That's pretty good, well done. I've actually had shingles before, but it was a pretty minor case.

True, but then you wouldn’t have the joy of spending 180x the average venezuelan’s yearly income on something that sits the majority of the time. Put a Yeti in it and you’d be set for beer runs that necessitate sleeping it off in a Walmart parking lot.
In all honesty, it's going to be something where I don't need it now, but once I have one, I'll be able to find all kinds of use for.

I bought a single axel 6x10 enclosed in '07 for a specific purpose which never developed (long story) for about $2,500.....but when I've needed it, I'm damn sure glad I had it.

Is that close to a couple of hot dogs and a big gulp from 7-11 ?
Wulf202 keeps encouraging me to get something like a 5'x10' for a little more money. That's coming from his experience of actually using trailers for real work. I'm still on the fence about going that big. I figure if I ever get a real vehicle that can tow the weight that a larger trailer can handle, hopefully I'd be able to sell my smaller one for a similar price and not lose a bunch of money on it.

Investment in equipment or facility tends to run on the higher side of what you need at the time. Inevitably, you most likely will feel that you wished you had gotten more than you originally thought you should have.
Understanding that your towing capability is restricted as of now, go bigger with anticipating a tow vehicle upgrade in your future.
Lake McConaughy or Lake Ogallala?
McConaughy. How is Ogallala?

Ogallala ……
Makes me think of the Bremen town musicians. When I was a kid I remember having a record telling a story about that. It would be cool to hear it again just 'cause.

I didn't know there was a video for it, I only remember the 45 I played on the shitty record player when I was like....9 yrs. old or something.
Yeah, I watched it. Dayum….flashback to a different time for sure.
McConaughy. How is Ogallala?
Call it big mac, won't have to remember how to spell it again.

Meh, for three nights, I could have my own trailer.
Look at an A liner, Casita, or burro all towable with a small 6 cyl. OR buy a small popup unit
