Sold some powder and primers to a guy on Thursday. He was telling me about the range in the area, said they drastically reduced membership. It's now only $100/yr from $400/yr. Still an hour away though.
He then went on to say how he doesn't go anymore either. He just bought 35-acres of property north of town and built a 40-yd x 95-yd on it. Said that's been a ton of fun, and decided after realizing, that he could fit a 700-yd range on his property, if he stretched it completely from one end of his property to the other end. He said he's now in the process of building that.
Which gave me an idea. If I bought adjacent property to his, we could build a 1400-yd range. [AR15]

In other news, my 1.5-yo is training to be the world champion at Chubby Bunny.
We made s'mores tonight on my early birthday gift fire pit. She kept running over, stealing a jumbo marshmallow, stuffing it in her mouth and running away giggling while chewing. She'd then swoop in a few minutes later and grab several pieces of chocolate bar.

Be careful if you ever buy a vehicle that was previously registered in a native-American nation. I know someone that went through hell trying to get it registered by the state.
Itz not that hard to register them...but they stick you with all the sales tax fees since the vehicles never had sales tax applied to them since they were registered with a nation first....
Trying to get clear title from the nation was a nightmare.

I had a dream where I willingly stepped of a cliff to get to the bottom of the canyon faster than everyone else. I survived super power style but my companion did not. Oddly, the aim was to retrieve a stolen semi truck with an empty oversized load trailer (those special airbags & the like). What is most amusing is that I still don't know why the truck was so special, maybe it was because the thief was Leonard Nimoy.?
Yep. That's what I said, Leonard Nimoy stole the truck from a coffee shop parking lot.
I feel your dream was sexual in nature due to the reference to the oversized load.

Interesting that you have Nimoy, who notoriously played a character adherent to logic, in a context that was illogical. Then again, our brains do some wild things (not fully understood by science) while we're sleeping.

I giggled when I read that post Wyome
Yeah, you butt sniffer...you.
Last weekend I was with some buddies shooting the breeze and sucking on a few beers when I stepped into the forest to water the flowers. Pretty soon I was surrounded and swarmed by hornets and when I realized I must be stepping on their ground nest I knew I had to get the hell out of there. There was no time to shake off Wee Willy Winkie or to put him away, just Run, Forrest, Run!
Those dirty rats stung me on the arm and hand which swelled, hurt and itched for a week, but fortunately they didn't get to Willy.
It took me two days but I wiped out that underground hornet nest and all it's inhabitants.
It proves that Karma is a bitch for all involved because a few days earlier I discovered a paper hornet nest 8" in diameter hiding under the eaves directly over our entry door. I killed 'em all!
And in case any reads the Sentinel, the front page article and previous editions show that my wife kicked a hornets nest and they're coming out to swarm the corrupt public officials. Before it's all over everyone's going down in flames.

Just going to put this out there, apologies if it is inappropriate content:
I'm in need of an 'in' to speak with the Army Corps of Engineers about an activity already permitted on their land that is being railroaded by another entity. Seems a couple of employees that work for the Bear Creek Lake Park (who lease it from the Corps) want to take away bimonthly model rocket launches from everyday enthusiasts, STEM students, Boy & Girl Scouts of America, ULA, Mines & CSU students.
Colorado Rocketry Association of Space Hobbyists (C.R.A.S.H.) is solely run by volunteers & has been flying at this park for 30 years without issue & with full consideration and consent of the park management until this year. C.R.A.S.H. has made every attempt to accommodate the 'parks' concerns. Unfortunately the select park management staff at these meetings have only taken them to reply & to deny with prejudice.
Now Lakewood City council is involved & is in support of continuing C.R.A.S.H.'s nonprofit arrangement with the park & is even willing to rewrite code. West Metro Fire has signed off on this too. . .then there are the lawyers being lined up, the Scouts are freaking out, the media is involved as well. . . point is this would be sooner resolved if C.R.A.S.H. could just present their case to whomever it is that has the final say on the land's use, period.
This is worthwhile. Anyone know a guy?

Took the family to the beach for the entire morning (got there at 830a, left at 1230p - which is a long time for a toddler and kindergartner). My oldest was insisting we bring her fishing pole, so I reluctantly grabbed it. Didn't feel like bringing any plastic worms since she gets tired after 5min, so I tossed some corn from dinner last night in a baggie and off we went.
Holy crap! We were literally picking the bluegill out of the water with that corn! Every time we dropped the hook in the water, within 15sec, we had another fish!
No pictures cause we were so busy, but sheesh, we found what bait works best now for when she wants to feel productive catching fish!

Everyone ready to jump back at it for da Man tomorrow?
I love my job and clock in with a smile every day, nothing is an inconvenience, my task is my purpose....no matter how stupid it is.
:)
See, that's what holidays are all about.
You improve your attitude, get focused, and become a productive member of the team again.
Ain't life grand?

Tried some Gorilla double sided tape today, and the result was favorable. Hadn't purchased any of their products prior.
Used some of their glue to reattach the plywood under the granite counter tops that the dishwasher screws into. Was water activated so I dampened the granite with a sponge, applied glue to the plywood, and clamped in place. It's still holding tight.
I'm curious as to how the Gorilla double-sided tape compares to 3M.

I welded some hooks onto the back of this steel so I can run a rod through and hang up to shoot. I'm so excited to have my own steel. Yay for welding! I also got the right plug for my 220 outlet in my garage so I can stop welding on 110v.

Oh yeah, I sent Pistachio out to get threaded, but apparently the Axis barrels are too thin to take a traditional thread. So what was going to be the average $150 thread job turned into different threads that would require an adapter and a quote for $250. I decided to scrap the whole idea. I like that gun but I'm thinking I should sell it and get something else. Maybe I'll switch over to 6.5 Creedemore or something instead. I don't tend to tinker with stuff, so I liked the low price and ready to go out of the box aspect of the Axis. I like Savage though, so maybe I should just look at one of the better platforms.
That Boyds thumbhole stock made it pretty heavy for hunting too.

for a budget rifle that is decent out of the box the ruger platform seems to work, especially with a threaded bbl. However the Bergara is a very strong contender for accuracy, out of box and a very good price point. Same for howa, where you can buy a barreled action, minus stock. Both Howa & Bergara have very good reviews from actual shooters, not a magazine.
OR i'd sell you one of my threaded bbl bolt action 700's.

I use a tikka lite for hunting. I think the barrel profile is also too thin to thread without an adapter. But it is nice to have as it?s so light, but is very accurate.
You feel the pounds all day hunting, you feel the extra recoil once

So I got a nice arthritic pain in my right hand and prunning and teimming became unpleasant. Found a Scotts cordless pruner and ordered it. Ergonomics are a bit funny but it works. Trimming the crab apple beanches was fun and fast. Will have extended test data after fall trim, but so far its great.
Please share a link. Arthritis in my thumbs has become a problem. I've used loppers for things I would normally cut off with hand pruners, but it requires more overall effort.
Gladly. I got this model available on Amazon and at HD.
Scotts Outdoor Power Tools PR17215S 7.2-Volt Lithium-Ion Cordless Rechargeable Power Pruner. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07J5HJZRM
My search found only two non professional pruners available for sale, the Scotts and a Ryobi made for the Japaneese market, both under $100. I also found commercial grade pruners but those were $1k+ range.
