Oh, it just seemed shitty. Kind of dichotomous because people were doing burnouts in their yard and riding loud as hell dirt bikes around the neighborhood; which seems like awesome freedom, but it also seemed like a bunch of shitty neighbors. Also probably didn't help that it was hot as hell and I was tired and dehydrated.

Have you ever seen an entire train in profile at once? I had the opportunity to get that view the other day, and it was pretty striking. I wish I had pulled over and had a great camera to get the shot. I'm not talking about a short train, I mean something like this below, but straight, where you can see the entirety of the train. If you ever get the chance, it's kind of striking. This image is the closest I can even find on line. I feel like there are some famous paintings of the scene I'm describing, but I can't find them. Anyway, I just came over a small hill and everything else was flat and this train was off in the distance. Very cool.

Very pretty shot, Irving.
I've seen long trains next to the highways here in Colorado. But that is a pretty shot, obv.
-John
Best I can tell (from what I can remember) is that it would have been heading East on Hwy 94 looking down onto the Union Pacific railroad track that goes from Denver to Salina and the tracks cross the highway around Aroya. I figure I was about 2-5 miles away.

Thanks, I just stole that from the internet trying to find a picture, or even a painting, showing what I'm describing. It's just striking to see ALL of something at least a mile long, all at once, traveling across the horizon in front of you.

Ran into a couple of problems today. The wheel studs in the rear diff axles are the right bolt pattern, but the diameter is bigger....needed to find the right replacement stud knurl that had the 1/2 -20 thread. I think I've got suitable replacement studs now, find out tomorrow.
The other thing was the brake line stuff just wasn't working out for more than one reason. Using the old right side steel and flex section, and buying a new F series feed block line, and fabbing a short steel section plus the flex for the left side should all come together and be okay. The front diff never made it today, hopefully tomorrow...or it wont be til next week. That would suck but there's always finishing up some wiring that I put off cause it sucks to do...ha.

Justin's thread about Mr. Villa got me thinking... about the newest surge of traffic & road obstructions in my neck of the woods.
I live off 6th & Colorado Blvd & its absolutely the worse two mile long stretch for stupid busy traffic in Denver. Specific to my daily, I cant wait until the 5600 new residences are completed & yfully occupied along with the movie theater & the myriad of shops are open in the mere 3 blocks of this overdeveloped nightmare. This is where the old University Hospital once stood & shared a campus with the still operating Rose Hospital & related medical facilities.
Ffs, the addition of the Trader Joes a few years ago added 3 - 5 minutes to navigating through the light/intersection on 8th alone. City planning also somehow saw wisdom in allowing their (TJ's) loading dock to be the actual right of way alley which they now illegally block off for all but the overnight hours...
To keep with the theme... the recent addition of (single car length) turn lanes into the development on both streets while removing the one dedicated & useful turn lane from Colorado Blvd onto 8th going east is pure idiocy (this is where 8th ave begins its one way multi lane westerly trek). On both Colorado & 8th the newly painted traffic pattern now alternates every 100 ft or so by 13 degree to the left, then to right then left again & so forth for 2 blocks on what is otherwise a perfectly straight 3 lane road for the entirety of its length (in central D). It is going to be an extra joy to navigate beyond the existing confluence of f*tards once it starts snowing & the lanes are obscured.
I would like to personally slap Denver planning &.... [edited for content not suitable for viewers under 18] ... twice.
Unrelated but yet not so far removed, I have curbside trash & recycling (also large item) pickup the same day as street sweeping once a month April through Nov. Now Denver has installed signage & is ticketing several.of my neighbors for having vehicles on the street all the while we are supposed to put our bins on the street in the same place we are no longer allowed to park. How exactly is this supposed to work geniuses? Just how many times am I supposed to pay for services not provided in addition to the ancillary revenue trap...
I'm well beyond miffed @ this point.
Oh & school starts on Monday too, the joy.
*Apologies for the horrific syntax & more in this post, for not taking the time to review & edit ... so... angry... so very angry. Must. Stop. Writing. Now....

Yeah it's hot to be sure, I did a comparison one week in June, of LA Junta vs Tucson, and all but one day it was hotter in LJ than Tucson. The Valley wasn't a bad place to grow up, and I got to do tons of things city kids don't get to, but I've got no use for it as an adult.

Well it will continue moving left, maybe at a slow pace for another year or two. Then it's gonzo full tilt CA. Health care wise if you're a veteran the area i live has a good VA medical place. They outsource most everything, but it's not bad.
Specialist require a trip down the valley (phoenix) Up to Flagstaff, or over to Cottonwood. Plenty of places to shoot, lots of off road areas as well as hiking & camping. Prescott reminds me of Ft Collins before it became a freeloading aclu hell hole.
Only down side is no good chinese place.
I checked out the area you're in, which I would be happy with. The wife is having some lung issues. We'd likely need to get to a lower elevation.
Woot, woot. Got in some range time with the boy. He needs to work his pistol skills. His bolt gun skills are improving and he nailed what he aimed at, at 50 and 100 of a bench. I got to run my ar pistol. Cleared my sinuses, but had me giggling - too fun. Probably needs a blast can. Then the 50 mph wind came and blew rifle cases and empty pmags all over the place. Still, fun!

Felt like 106F today, spent the latter part of the day outside hosting a back-to-school bbq for our homeschool friends. I'm dehydrated and yet I can't drink enough fluids.
Spending all day tomorrow smoking this 9-lb pork butt. Hoping the weather cooperates this time. Last time (which coincidentally was my first time smoking anything in my Weber Kettle grill), a massive thunderstorm rolled in at around the 7-8-hrs mark. The butt dropped 10F, grill temp dropped to 175F and the charcoal never re-lit, and I had to finish it off in the oven (Boo!). Which of course, I had to remove the pork from the grill in the pouring rain and get it inside otherwise the smoldering charcoal would have given the pork a creosote taste... Even still, best pulled pork we've had in a long time!

I always end up grilling in rain. If I grill, rain appears out of nowhere. Just me, my bbq and a rain jacket.
BuffCyclist

I'm okay with grilling in the rain, and I've done it many times before, but usually just burgers when the grill is hot (400F+). When its so low for smoking, the minimal coals aren't sufficient to counteract the cooling from the rain on the lid.

Well if you can stand the heat, I'd say somewhere outside phoenix. Depending how many mall type areas you need to be by.
Or consider taking a few days for a visit, stay in the guest house. Think an ABnB w/out the amenities and cruise the area.

Follow Brutal's thread (post #95688). At the bottom, just change the Size to "Large Thumbnail", then copy the "BBCode" link. Then, just copy that in your reply and it should already have the and tags wrapped around the image link. MUCH easier than using the Forum's built-in image linker.
I got sucked into Wu Assasin on prime. Grew up with kung fu movies, so this is a fun series. But crap its late.

DirectTV is giving free access to EPIX for a while.
Got sucked into watching a series, Pennyworth, last night. Watched the Pilot and the next episode.
I saw that 2 more were coming up and just had the DVR record those 2.
What I am guessing, is it is about Alfred Pennyworth. who later becomes Bruce Wayne's, Batman, butler.
It has the same gothic heaviness as Batman, but located in London. Thomas Wayne and Martha Kane are featured and they become the parents of Bruce Wayne.
There appears to be 10 episodes, and I am afraid DirectTV will make me pay for EPIX to see all of them.

What happened to your puppers?
I feel your pain. My cat had to have emergency plastic surgery last year. She had developed entropion as a 13yo cat, which is unusual. It's when the eyelids curl inwards, and the hair on the eyelids scratches the eyes. She got an eye infection as a result of the vet giving her steroids in an attempt to fix it (apparently, you're never supposed to give cats steroids). We seriously had to take her to an animal plastic surgeon 2-hrs away. Spent almost as many thousands of dollars as well.
She partially tore her ACL, so they cut her knee off, rotate it, then bolt it back together.
My wife's cat died this year too. I want to say he was 17. At first she wanted to do everything she could, but I talked her out of getting any surgeries since he was so old. We all miss him.

My 18-19 year old dog passed this year, at a certain point I didn’t feel it was right to try to put him through treatments of any kind, the money was better spent on better food for him to enjoy at that stage in his life.

My sisters dog just had ACL surgery. Hope your dog has recovered by now and that it was worth the cost! Pups are family, and they give us so much its worth it when we can help them like that.
And OBC, The BBCode link is easier. Otherwise you have to right click the inage, oprnbin new tab, then copy the link for that page, come back here and use the insert image button.
She doesn't show any limping, but when I took her in for a follow-up a few months ago, she still had a lot of soft tissue swelling. The same thing happened to our cat, and the vet was quoting us all these $2,000+ surgeries. We got a second opinion from another vet and they said, "Don't do anything. She's a cat and will heal herself just fine." They were right.

BC, your BBCode method IS simpler and I will be using it myself going forward. However, I would like to point out that the method I provided (From URL) does not require opening into a new tab and copying the link unless you want to "Retrieve remote file and reference locally" (host) the image on COAR15 and there are size limits to that making it quite useless. If the BBCode method isn't available from a hosting site, like one wants to link a found image, then the steps I outlined are still the best way I've found.

No, Google Chrome. For whatever dumbass reason, you can't get access to the same link on mobile to post a link to photos the way you do on a laptop. If there is a way, I don't know how to do it. I despise that mobile apps are different than desktop. For example, I can no longer check my business bank account from my cell phone because they made it so you have to download the app in order to access that. Why the hell should I have to download an app? I know the website address and I should be able to access from there directly.

Have you tried using the "Desktop site" option in Chrome? I know some mobile sites push you to an app before you can select it. I just looked at ar-15.co and can see the image link. However, I'm lost trying to find the imgur link options in their app and they shut down browser login access from a mobile device.

Ask them if they're ready to buy, today. If not you, appreciate their interest, then ignore them.
if you have a listing for something that's been for sale more than 1-2 weeks plus. IMO it's a tired listing and you're open to a low offer, maybe. Remove the ad, wait a month then repost, no one buys in the summer.
There's 1 or 2 folk who have had items listed here since '17. They relist the same things for the same price with no movement. If it didn't sell or get any serious interest for $xxx 2 years ago. It's not gonna move in '19 for the same price.
Throw in that's the only place those members are actually active, i don't see them getting a sale.

Yea, great advice. And I completely agree! Especially for items that have been posted a week or two. But I got the reply 11 minutes after posting the item, for the first time. Interestingly enough, its for someone that I just shipped some items to yesterday (well, Saturday).
1k .38spl bullets for $80+10 shipping (it will cost me $15 to ship them as its 23-lbs and needs flat rate box). They retail for $55/500, or $110/1k plus shipping. If I lower the price even $10, I’ll net $65, so $10 more than what I paid for one box, or about what I paid for one box shipped. Perhaps i thought that because they were priced low enough that I wouldn't get these responses.
eta: Well, I responded with $70 plus actual shipping costs, he just said he'll take them. Since I was giving a discount on shipping, he's only getting a $5 discount. Still, the whole "whats your lowest price" frustrates me.

It?s because people are lazy and cannot negotiate anything. If you are serious, send me a serious offer and we can talk. I typically respond back with ?I am asking $X? tends to confuse them and some get the point, though not all.

I've been wanting to get a kayak since we moved here nearly 5-yrs ago. Had a bad morning of fishing a few weeks ago (possibly a bit early in my recovery, but wasn't twisting my back so it seemed to be okay), and commented to my wife that the fish weren't biting at all. That I saw a pair of kayakers paddle by me and it just made me want to be out on the water instead of fishing. She said "well just buy a freaking kayak already, you've been talking about it for years!".
I deep debating between getting an el' cheapo Lifetime Tamarack 100 from Walmart or a Perception Pescador 12 for another $200 or so. From what I hear, the Pescador is a much better quality boat, and several places often have it on sale for $399 towards the end of the season (Labor Day), and at the beginning (Memorial Day). But, the Tamarack has quite the following online for beginners. And then, I toss around the idea about getting an even cheaper Pelican than the Tamarack, but I'm not sure I could convince my wife to let me sell the Pelican/Tamarack after 1 season to upgrade... so the Pescador it is! That sucks!
I'm about half a mile from the closest beach, a second much larger one (with more parking and better boat ramps) is only a mile away; the road is 25-mph so no highway speeds. I have a feeling it'll be pretty easy for me to get to the water for even just an hour or two. They have kayak slips on the beaches as well, but the kayaks in the racks all look pretty damaged, so I think I'll pass.
Mine are 8ft and they barely fit in my attic, and lay down perfectly in my 8' trailer. I can put them on the roof of my van, but my van can't get up 4wd trails. My 4wd doesn't have a roof rack (and likely never will unless I custom build one) so that's where the trailer comes in. I want a nice, big, 12ft fishing kayak, but I'm not sure where I'd put it and it wouldn't fit on my trailer until I mod the trailer.

I'm planning on stuffing mine inside my car, being a hatchback is nice and only about 3-ft will stick out the back. I'm more than okay with this but only because my drive to the water is so short. If I was taking it outside our community on country roads at 45-mph, I'd want it on the roof or something else and then it'd be way more of a hassle.
Most of the rotomolded sit-on-top styles are 60-65lbs. And with my back in its current state, I keep thinking maybe I should just get a cheap Pelican sit-inside style, as those weigh ~40-45lbs. On the other hand, since I'm not lifting it over my head, and don't have to carry it far, the extra weight shouldn't be an issue.
Good thing I've got all winter to figure out what I want!
I tell you what though, having a trailer with JUST the kayaks is awesome because they weigh nothing and my weak little SUV can still pull them over the pass with no trouble.

You might consider an inflatable stand up paddle board. They are still in the $300+/- range, very wide and stable, and weigh next to nothing. You only fill them up to 15 psi, which sounds easy, but it's no joke with the little bike pump. If you got enough anchor points, you could still latch your gear (and even an anchor) onto it if you wanted.
Oh yeah, here's how I got them home. I stopped by whatever that sporting goods place that went out of business in 2016 to see if they had any Kayaks. I ended up buying all their kayaks and a Ruger 10/22 that day.

Nice lookin' kayak! There's definitely something to be said for having whatever boat works for you both on/off the water and modifying it to make it your own. The paddling community seems a lot like the motorcycle community. No one cares what you paddle, as long as you're out on the water paddling.
Similar, the Lifetime Tamarack (https://www.walmart.com/ip/Lifetime-Tamarack-Angler-100-Fishing-Kayak-Paddle-Included-90818/55604992) at Walmart is a 10-ft kayak, but people simply put a stadium seat on it, add some other fishing specific things and bam, they've got a fully rigged fishing kayak. The thing is, I'm looking for a kayak to use 75% of the time for just paddling, and maybe 25% of the time fishing. And I've heard that the Tamarack isn't the best paddler, but functions. It's still in the running though, and if I can't get a good deal on a Pescador in the next 9-mo, I may end up just getting the Tamarack and modifying it. At least then I won't care about scratching it up since its only $250.
eta: HAHA! That's awesome! Exactly how I plan to transport whatever kayak I get. A 10-ft would mostly fit inside my car, but the tailgate definitely won't close, so I figure no reason not to get the 12-ft for better paddling. Also, hadn't looked into SUPs at all, not sure how that would do with my back. Seems like it would be more twisting than paddling a kayak, but who knows.
Hmmm, yeah the side to side with a single paddle would probably be a lot more twisting. You're either standing or kneeling. I suppose you could kneel with a longer kayak paddle. They don't turn that well, but they do cruise pretty fast. Plus, when the wind is at your back, you can just stand up and act like a sail and you really cruise that way!
I don't worry about scratching mine at all, they are probably in dismal shape. For the record, I've got a Grand Caravan that is 8ft from behind the front seats and I wouldn't want to put a 12ft inside it. I can't even imagine that in a car. I wouldn't get too caught up in how fast or nimble someone rates one kayak over another. You don't own one now so you have no reference point. You should be able to go to a kayak expo and try different models out though. They had one up at Barr Lake one time that we went to.
I like that kayak you linked. I also fantasize about more carrying capacity so I can take my gear and paddle across a small body of water and camp in the less crowded areas.
House officially sold today. Now just to get the one here bought!
Woohoo! Congrats!

Yea, people tend to speak pretty poorly about the Big Box type kayaks (Pelican, Lifetime, etc), but the reviews that I've read about the Tamarack are pretty awesome. There's a guy that owns a kayak shop in California (Headwaters Kayak) that does a Youtube video series on various kayaks (see here for the Top 5 Under $500: Part 1 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qaqgQAoEEsk) and Part 2 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ESqznshez0)). He doesn't even sell kayaks this low quality, and yet he understood the Tamarack following. He said if it was his money, he'd buy the Tamarack and go custom all the way.
Here's the video of the guy that did the original Tamarack mods: Mobbin Outdoors (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=383VOcpsDfE)
Like I said, I haven't ruled out any kayaks yet and keep weighing the pros/cons of the sit inside vs sit on top. I've done some sea kayaking before in Alaska, and what I remember, being a taller guy, I had a lot of trouble getting my legs into the sea kayak. I know they make roomier kayaks than what I used, but it's just one of those things that sticks with you.

If you really want to spend money, you could get one with peddles, then you can fish a lot easier and don't have to twist your back at all.

Type the words first, then highlight the word you want to turn into the link and click the little Globe with a chain link icon (between the smiley face and the envelope). Paste the link in the box, done.

Don't even get me started on peddle 'yaks! Man oh man, the Hobie drive is so elegant! But I definitely wouldn't like that style, it's more like a stair stepper than a peddle kayak. I like the other styles that are more like bikes. The hobie propulsion blades are pretty sweet though!

Ok. But that's often your best material. Just sayin.
It came from trying to describe a smell to my daughter as "butthole cologne" or what an earthworm would smell like if it was about to go out to the clubs.
Then I started thinking about how every Halloween costume is a sexy something or other and thought Sexy Earthworm both sounded funny and described the smell I was trying to convey.

Not surprisingly the backstory is even more peculiar, or is that just me?
Let's just say that there is a reason that I don't have a World's Best Dad coffee mug.
The reason is because those few words can't possibly describe how great my fathering is. With a dictionary in one hand and a thesaurus in the other, Shakespeare would have a difficult time expressing the depths and intricacies with which I rear my young. Heck, he'd need an IV drip of ayahuasca to merely scratch the surface of my nuances, let alone convey them to other humans within the restrictions of spoken language.

If I was one credit hour from graduating, and this assignment was the final requirement, I'd quit night school at the community college and never look back.

Takes 15 minutes from flat and rolled in duffle to bait in water. Weighs about 60lbs. I usually leave it inflated about 80% and strap it down on top of tonneau cover. I have plenty of storage to leave inflated. Transom and battery rack behind seat for "serious" fishing days.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190820/864037f48cccaf8428f43d55786c3eed.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20190820/3fd2c0978a334c3a3961bdbda8a65d02.jpg

Transmission shop never tore down my T case. I called today and they were like..."what T case?". They're working on it now. Fvck.
I'd think it'd be easy enough to find the right wheel stud. What's been the catch?

Honestly, it isn't.
Knurl diameter/ knurl - shoulder length and under head length are critical and unusual in my situation. I'm crossing a 25 year newer diff into a '79 truck. Dorman is my best resource, and if I have to drill out the stud holes to 5/8ths in order to get long enough 1/2x20 studs....that's the next plan. I can't have different lug nuts front to back and expect to rotate the tires over time and not ruin the wheels in the process.
Doing the best job possible usually isn't the easiest path to take.

Anyone suggest you go to a junkies to browse for another rear 3/4 T ? axle off a ford.. Knock out a few studs then match them up at local auto parts store.
Great, now that we helped you, you can help me figure out how to get the voice mail working on my dumb Google phone.
Also, everyone stop talking to me. I've got a ton of work to do that should have been done three hours ago.
Carrier?
Because if Sprint, unpossible to use Google VM with a Sprint phone. You're stuck with Sprint VM. They suck earthworms.

Yes Sprint. I was fine with Sprint's voice mail for the last decade. I don't care what it is, I just need voice mail. Right now I have people leaving me voicemails and my phone isn't telling me about it so I have no idea.
