Kid who lived next door purchased my GOING OUT OF BUSINESS Builders Square compressor. Still has the SKU and B.S info on it.
Thankfully the compressor is still running. B.S should be a lesson to Home Depot, showing how not to run a big box store.

Man I hate showing up to a house that didn't bother to reschedule because they found someone else to do the work. Probably the more selfish thing I run into occasionally.
Or an account team that didn't bother to tell you they met with the client, the client YOU brought in, two weeks ago and discussed the very thing you just e-mailed them about.
Ahh, my 12 year old crappy POS DODGE Ram CTD passed emissions yet again with flying colors.
Now I just need to shell out some bucks after the holidays for that driveline service. No, it was not recommended by the shop, it was suggested after I discussed some issues with them following emissions pass.
I trust them, but I'm still going to research the need.

Didn't even think to Chuck if I have work tomorrow until just now. Apparently I have stuff up in Cheyenne. I tried looking up snow totals up there, but it proved more difficult than I thought. It looks like they got less than we did, but with the weather up there that makes ours seem warm (-45 wind chill), I doubt anything melted. I'll just have to call first thing in the morning.

I don't see any potential issues, as long as all the wires are fully covered. Any exposed wires can be covered with shrink wrap, electrical tape, hot glue, etc.
After sleeping on it, I realized that the entire back of the light has expossed contacts, but it doesn't seem to be an issue with operation at this point. I can just sleeve it though. This is something that someone with a 3D printer could help with. Little hoods for the lights would be effective. We should probably be having this conversation in that thread ...

For those who practice the faith. For others such as myself, we believe the gift of giving is not something one does based on a calendar.
Not to take away the spirit and celebration of the Birth of Jesus Christ. It's not something everyone does.

That's not true unless you give birthday gifts randomly also, anniversary gifts when it's not an anniversary (well, unless you celebrate the 3rd week anniversary of the time insignificant event X occurred, like a 15 year old with puppy love ), condolence cards for deaths when no one has died [ On this 7 month and 3 day anniversary of Jimmy's death, I send my condolences"... wut?], random giant spreads of Turkey, etc. when it's not Thanksgiving, etc. There is no problem with giving anyone anything at any time of the year, but the practice of giving gifts at Christmas stems from the tradition of the Wise Men giving the gifts which prefigured the life of Christ (Gold for Kingship, Frankincense for Priesthood, Myrrh for Crucifixion/body preparation). However, the fact remains that it's absurd to [I]celebrate something before its appointed time, as it denigrates the appointed time. Your objection is thus a strawman, as no one said anything about gift-giving per se (for example, St. Nicholas day, kids traditionally get little chocolate coins placed in their shoes; on other Feast days of particular saints, and/or of those associated with Our Lord, other things occur including gifts -- on 7 October, it's common to have croissants to celebrate the victory of the Holy Roman Empire over the Ottoman Turks at Lepanto in honor of the victory, which was indeed religious in nature). Please don't mistake my reply. I'm not trying to bash you over the head, it's just absurd to say "this good thing isn't dictated to me by a calendar" when every cyclically celebrated good thing is dictated by a calendar, including secular things.
Is it okay to prepare early for the event? Hanging lights early is probably done more out of convenience than celebration.

That was the gist of my reply. It's also a Holiday we do not celebrate with kids grown, family no longer with us, etc.
We also do not denigrate or look down upon those who share the birth of Jesus , his crucifixion and resurrection . It's ones belief in spirit and mind that counts.
I don't need to give a "gift " to my spouse on Christmas to tell her i love or thinking about her.
It's not giving gifts on b-days, anniversaries etc. It's the thought of giving / donating when one can.
Having been blessed with help & assistance when we were down over our life time, has allowed us to return it.
To us that is the Spirit of Giving. It's also done not for reward or recognition, just something we do when possible. You'll never see a plaque with our names on it. BUT... our names will be remembered in peoples hearts & minds.

More storm than expected. Snowed, then rained just before dawn. Dry and quiet most of the morning.
Started raining again about 1030, then the blizzard hit about 1130. Even had a little thunder just before blizzard started.
1145 power went out, just came back on. Bit of a shock for us. Much as I dispise our REA, have to concede that we rarely have outages. Have only had to resort to back up power one time in winter season in last 15yrs.
Glad didn't have to transition to alternate heat or cooking methods. Mrs bo had already started roast. She says delay will only set dinner back about 30 mins.

So I have a Bushmaster listed for trade both here and on Armslist. I have had about a dozen inquiries from Armslist, mostly asking do I still have it. My policy is to politely reply to all inquiries and include my phone number and invite a call to discuss. Out of a dozen replies to inquiries two are scams and one guy call me and asks how much I want for it to sell it. I tell him I am only looking to trade but he presses on and demands a cash price. I tell him again I only want to trade and he starts telling me that he has $500 fucking dollars and that is all he will pay so I say that there are a ton of $500 AR's on the list and he starts yelling over and over, fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you ... until I hang up.
In about a minute he calls back and says he didn't get the price because we got cut off. I tell him that I hung up because he was cussing at me and I did not appreciate it. He says he is sorry, it was not him, it was his brother that was saying that because he was drunk. Then he asks how many mag's I will include and I say one 10 round as stated in the advert as transferring mags over 15 rounds is not legal in CO. He replies that he can go into any gun shop in Greeley or Ft. Collins and buy them, they just want too much for them. Then the guy starts telling me that because I have a trade value of $600 to $800 I should take $500 for it. I say I am not interested and he really freaks out callin me names and cursing at me. I ask him, who am I talking to and I get the repeated fuck you fuck you on and on again. I am staying on then line and laughing my ass off at this guy. That makes him even madder and he just keeps cussing and demanding I meet him in greeley right now and sell him my carbine. I continue laughing and finally he hangs up.
I wait ten minutes and I call him back, ask him if he has an AR-15 for sale and how many mags will go with it. He is polite as can be, doesn't seem to know it is me, says he doesn't have an AR for sale but will sell me his AK-47 and twenty 30 round magazines for $1000. I say great, what is your name and address, he give them to me. I ask what shop he wants to use for the transfer on Monday as there won't be any shops open on Sunday and he says we don't need to bother with all that and just come by tonight and we can do it right away. I say I can't get away tonight and will not do a deal unless we follow the law. He just exploded again with name calling and profanities so I just hung up.
This guy is completely unhinged. I called the Greeley police and the with his information and what transpired. See or hear something, say something, right? Assholes like that guy should not own firearms. I hope that they get this guy before he hurts someone.
So I have a Bushmaster listed for trade both here and on Armslist. I have had about a dozen inquiries from Armslist, mostly asking do I still have it. Due to some ill communication, we now have 6 months of toilet paper, at least a year's worth of paper towel, and 3-4 years of tooth paste.

So you are hedged against a rise in cost for personal hygiene. Sounds like a win.
I like stocking up on toilet paper, but I ran out of space in the usual spot. We already had 6 tubes of toothpaste (that she bought), but she forgot and bought 5 more. The paper towels get stored in an area that isn't in the open so she didn't remember we had plenty already. I like having stores of stuff, until it starts taking up too much room.
About 2 years ago, King Soopers had like 18 packages of aluminum foil for sale at mega markdown in their clearance section. Something like .99 per or whatever. So I bought them all. We're still good to go on aluminum foil at a fraction of the cost. Want a hat?[panic]

Hand tools since you can't get an appliance for $50. Does Sears sell anything else?
Nice tool bag for range use? Firearm specific hand tools? Knife? Jumper cables/automotive accessories? New pillows? Socks & underwear?
You can get some good utility out of $50 if you try.

Speaking of EPA performance killing, the 2017 KTM dual sport bikes were delayed this year because they came with 2 switchable fuel maps and non brake based traction control. To get them to the dealers they had to remove all of that functionality. The rest of the world gets more bike for the same money because EPA.

My son made out like a bandit on the recall. Early lease termination walk away option on a deal they were upside down on from rolling a Touareg into the TDI wagon. The car will be re-coded and likely resold quickly as it has all the other pre-reqs. Older models require more extensive retrofit. He said they'll sit in a US Port until something is done with them.
I don't remember if I've mentioned this yet, but my Pandora account has been giving me grief lately.
I have a channel for the band Stoned Jesus, which is like a stoner metal band. Because it has "Jesus" in the name, I keep getting Jesus music. Now, I like Jesus, but the songs people write about him are all the same, and overall terrible. Pandora puts me in an awkward position by having me "thumbs down" Jesus over and over. It's not every day either, but when it does happen, it happens several times in a day. Work on your algorithm Pandora!

Pandora does that sometimes, just gets stuck on something it swears you should like. I made a channel for type o negative and it plays nothing but nine inch nails. Admittedly easier to thumb down than Jesus, still frustrating.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I like Nine Inch Nails more than Type O Negative, but at least those are the same genre. I have to give Pandora some leeway because I get to hear Mastodon, Cher Llyod, Johnny Cash, Erik Satie, Tool, The Middle East, and Kanye West all back to back. If Pandora were a person, he'd say, "Look at the rest of what you listen to, how am I supposed to know you don't like a little Jesus now and again?!"

Hi this is Mrs. Mazin. So when I have had that happen on my sewing machine it is a tension issue if it is on the bottom of the project there should be a tension dial close to the needle. You will probably need to look up in the manual or online for that machine as to what the tension needs to be set to for the type of needle and what you are sewing on. I believe it usually needs to be a little higher for heavy thread. Hope that helps.
Gun toting, advice giving Mrs. Mazin! Hey, since you are here, quick question? Have you been to the new 5.11 store here? C470/univ... there is a purse there that is for concealed carry, wanted to get your opinion on it

Pretty good deal. How many you buy?
None, I bought a bunch when I was first starting to get into prepping and now they all just float around in different vehicles and bags. I just spent over an hour looking at all the commercial stuff. I want a paper towel dispenser for my garage. A lot of that stuff is super expensive for what you get though, like over $100 for a 13 gallon plastic trash can that is probably $25 at Wal-mart. I see a lot of stuff marketed to businesses that is marked way up because they know that companies will pay that price. For example, there are some "Adjuster tool belts" floating around that are over $100 for something that is probably $25 at Home Depot.
So apparently the front end of a Ford Explorer travelling at 40 mph takes a lot more damage than the bed and bumper of an F-250 super duty when the pick up pulls out in front of you to make a left turn when you have a green light. At least the other vehicle was a CDOT contractor that cleans up the accident scenes so he had equipment to clean up the coolant, glass and plastic all over the road.

I bought a bike from izzy, filled up the tires and rode it around my neighborhood. 1) I'm out of shape. 2) I developed running muscles, but not bicycling muscles. 3) I feel GREAT. 4) I decided that a good future habit would be to only drink beer that I get by riding my bike to the liquor store, so that's what I did.

He did. I was going south on Wads and he was turning left on US 285 from the northbound lanes. I had a green and he had a flashing yellow arrow. I'll be going to urgent care in the morning, my lower and mid back have tightened up and gotten more sore throughout the day.
Yeah, you should get checked out for that. A lot of times you'll feel okay because of the adrenaline, but once that wears off, it's a different story.

There have been more accidents from idiots turning on flashing yellow arrows than there were from green balls on permissive left turns.
Yet the flashing yellow arrows are all the rage in the metro area cities..... Gotta keep up with all the bigger cities back east.

I didn't see any flashing yellow arrows last time back. They don't have them since no one stops for a red light or stop sign anyway.
Fortunately nothing requiring surgery, but the CT scan showed I have slipped and bulging discs across 4 vertebrae and some inflammation around the sciatica. Got some valium and percs to add to my advil for the next week. The contracting company IncidentClear tried to call me while I was at the emergency room and get me to not involve the insurance company. Told them I had already called mine and theirs.
Frank Azar or Dewey Cheatum and Howe?
Fuck them. May want to involve an attorney.
Once I hear from the claims department of the other insurance co I'll decide if I need to get a lawyer. At least for now my insurance is covering my medical.
Your insurance will likely have a $5,000 limit of you're referring to medpay.

One of the best things about minions, I don't have to clean the majority of my guns. Just inspect them.[emoji106]

Built a new fly rod. I think I did a pretty decent job on the wrap and epoxy...

Just kidding Chad, I have no idea. It looks pretty good to me. I like that style line guide or whatever it's called.
So how do you catch the flies -- just dip the hooks in honey?

Looks awesome! How's the book selling?
Well, vehicle was declared a total loss. Now to do my least favorite kind of shopping.

You should get the jeep that's for sale on here

I wouldn't mind this so much f someone totaled my car, but my truck is nearly irreplaceable due to the low mileage and I figure I'd get screwed on "book value."
I'd have to consider putting the $ towards something newer, and that would likely then mean a payment that I haven't had to endure for quite a while.
I've looked at the Jeep and the GMC in the TP. Not sure what I'll get since I didn't get much for a 15 year old Explorer. First searches on USAA's car buying service haven't been great. I didn't realize vehicles 10+ years old with over 100k miles could maintain a price like they do.

I've never found USAA's car buying service helpful. I never saw a deal on there.
Check out the used lots at a reputable dealer or CL.
We bought my wife's car through it and got a decent deal, not great, but good enough. I looked at kbb and nada for prices and I'm realizing that the truecar prices seem to be bs. TC is usually at least a few thousand over the other two prices. Or maybe the local vehicle market is like the housing market and is all jacked up.

One reason used vehicle prices are IMO outside reality, is the Cash For Clunkers program the last admin did. Taking used vehicles off the road with a large trade in incentive decimated the used market.
I have an 02 150 4wd with 130K 2nd owner miles. I almost sold it for $8K 2 yrs ago till i looked at used prices. $10K + for close to 200K on the odometer?
As for KBB & NADA, don't bother. I did for an 02 pick em up with 140 1 owner immaculate miles, to a kid in our prayer group. That one i should have lookd on CL and what dealers had. Lost $1500 based on CL prices. But he needed it and i gave a price based on what i would expect to pay for a 12 yr old rear wheel drive 100K + miles.
If the offer was good i'd consider selling the 02 F-150 4x4 ext cab that sits here, maintained 2nd owner.

Are you looking at 4x4's or something? If so, I wonder if winter is affecting those prices?

Most likely reason. My vehicle was our 4x4, as a just in case type thing. So I have been looking at 4WD and AWD trucks and SUV's. Biggest reason I like having the 4WD is my daily commute is 20ish miles each way and when we get snow I like having the option.
