Been standing in the rain?
Nah, but I've had a fever for a week and finally went in today.
Anyone ever watch Rocky Mountain Bounty Hunters on Animal Planet? Kind of embarrassing. Bunch of guys dressed like bikers, running around the woods in Colorado and Montana, drawing down on people in the woods. Just waiting for bad stuff to happen. Some of the scenes are recreated. Lame show all around.
Eh, whatever, I'm gonna post it anyway. This was mind-blowing epic and violent for a little girls' cartoon

Now I get the question about Dragon Ball Z. Only this had more action than literally every episode of Dragon Ball Z that I've ever seen put together.
Just the initial antibiotics have me feeling a lot better already. Thanks.

Yah, I saw maybe 10 minutes and said "lame as hell" and watched something better like Ridiculousness or something.
I think the guys in Colorado are better than the guys in Montana. The guys in Colorado dress more professionally and don't look like a bunch of biker chumps all the time. The Montana guys are harder to take seriously and have kind of crappy gear.

I cannot tell you the lameness of some casino patrons. I had a guy threaten to "burn this place down", "punch you in the head" and "come back and rob this fucking place" when we had a GIP hit on him.
GIP is "Gambling Intercept Payment". If you win a jackpot in Colorado you are run through a database and if you owe child support, taxes, student loans, etc., your jackpot is confiscated and applied toward your balance. It happens pretty regularly - a few times a week. And I say good.
This douche was not happy about it. PD pursued him down Clear Creek Canyon with the intent of charging him with menacing, but I haven't hear if they caught him.
GilpinGuy
05-12-2014, 00:07
And to be clear, I don't mean to disparage ALL casino patrons. Many are very nice folks just looking to have a good time, which is what it should be all about.

How does suppression affect gassing for DI guns like ARs and what can you do about it beside an adjustable gas block? I'm assuming that a can raises the gas pressure? Would changing your buffer weight have any useful affect? Is that more of a bandaid than a solution?

The increased back pressure (caused by a can) increased bolt speed. The bolt moveg so fast that the rest of the system can't keep up. Several things indicate excessive bolt speed. In mine, the indicator was that the follow on round was double-feeding, but not in the normal sense as it wasn't caused by a magazine failure. The (just fired) brass hadn't cleared the chamber by the time the bolt slammed home with a new round.
Brass not clearing the chamber is excessive bolt speed and the bolt needs to be slowed down. I put in a heavier spring and used a carrier weight to try and slow it down. No dice.....and I put a HEAVY system in that gun. There's just too much gas going back.
The only other thing is too much gas and an adjustable gas block is the way for that.
Today's a great day to not have to leave the house.

I can't get my Sig716P to cycle suppressed on any setting with the PCI group buy .308 ammo. Runs fine with good ol PPU and my own dang low power M80 loads. I guess maybe they're just too hot. I have not put a chrono to them.
Anyone need a good deal on some nice M80 ball steel?

Depends on the can too.
My .30 cal can runs fine on the DI 5.56. Just a little less sound suppression, but less gas to blowback in your face or cause cycling issues. AAC claims they designed the can to create less back pressure.
Except for my Sig 716P not cycling the PCI M80 loads when suppressed, I've had zero issues cycling anything else with that AAC can. We'll see when I build a 10.5 upper how that plays out. I'm thinking I'll have to work on an adjustable system and am considering just going to an AA piston setup.

If it has baffles inside of a tube, it creates backpressure. They try to minimize it, but there is no magic bullet, as far as baffled cans are concerned. I've only seen one can NOT create excess back pressure, but they are expensive and they don't use baffles like a suppressor that we'd think of these days.
Piston driven systems have a few problems in their execution, but that's a cost/benefit that you're going to have to make for yourself.

Not really, it has to go somewhere. Most if not every can is one canister, not inner / outer.
I ask because I'm under the impression that on an integral can there is enough volume for the gas to first go into the outer chamber, then more slowly exit out the muzzle at a lower, more quiet speed. Although, it wouldn't then work very well for rapid firing I suppose.

The slower exit speed is key. Getting the gas to go SOMEWHERE besides back into chamber is also key, if we're talking about reducing back pressure.

Yes, I'm still alive.
Filling out tons of crap for work. Pissed off about my benefits, I can't sign my wife up on my insurance because of the Affordable Care Act. She has a job, but is quitting Aug 1st, to allow her a month to relax and stuff before the due date of 9/6, so we wanted to get her on my new insurance now so we know she's covered. But, because of the ACA I can't have her on my insurance because she has a job with benefits (even if she drops her benefits, she doesn't qualify) so she has to quit nearly 3 weeks early so we can process the paperwork in time and know for a fact that she'll be covered. And this is because th second you sign up for benefits, it goes into effect on the 1st of the next full month. So if we sign her up Aug 1st, she doesn't have insurance until 9/1, which is too freaking close. So we have to sign her up in the middle of july to ensure they have enough time to process it. I'm super pissed about it.
And then I spent nearly 5 hours yesterday attempting to figure out my 3. Yes, that's right. THREE freaking emails. My primary is @thestate.edu but that just forwards all email to @services.thestate.edu, so then if I reply to an email, it changes my email address which confuses people. I also can't send emails to all of my work mailing lists because those are setup for @thestate.edu. Finally found the spot after clicking tons and tons of links on the IT webpage where I can choose to have my outgoing as either of those two. Why the heck would anyone want to choose a more complicated email?!
(substitute "thestate" for the state name that i'm working for, just don't want it super obvious even though most of you hos know where I'm goin').

I need someone who can sew gear. I'm giving up on my previous high speed idea and gonna go with traditional materials.
Back in Feb I went shooting, and brought everything with. At the end of the day, I only shot half the ammo I brought along, and determined I wasn't having any fun. It was such a forgettable experience, I had even forgotten a gun there! [panic] Picked it up the next day with much shame.
My coworker (and fellow poster on here) thinks it was because I popped my full auto cherry in Dec, and semi auto wasn't fun anymore. His theory has been burning in my head since then. I finally went to the range again today, and only brought one gun. Ended up having a good time, wish I'd brought more ammo with, and even ran into yet a 3rd forum member while I was out there. Not sure what changed. I'd been feeling happier in general the past few weeks, since moving to a cheaper apartment. Also, all the green grass and sunny skies probably helped with the atmosphere. Whatever it was, I'm glad I enjoyed it. I'd been mulling over selling a gun or two lately, and today's experience is stopping me from doing that.

Car trouble eh? My clutch shit out on me today two stop lights from work. Had to muscle it into every gear and felt like I nearly didn't make. Lovely wife drove all the way down to my job and we took a trip to the parts store for some brake fluid, as I had discovered that the reservoir was dry. After filling, clutch pedal was still very light, and clutch still engaged differently, but shifting was clear enough to get me home. HOWEVER, clutch again shit out with two traffic lights till I got home and locked up the shifting again. Checked the reservoir when I got home and it was still full. Perhaps it's the heat. Who knows.

Don't think any issues with router as both cell phones cruised right on and Windows diagnosis was to turn on wireless with switch (this machine does not have, previous machine had switch) or function keys.
Am sure 30 seconds into phone conversation with tech, facepalm will occur as I remember solution from last time.

"My win7 HP has the F12 key as the on/off for wireless. IF the light is white / blue (color blindish) it's on, if not (darker color) off. "
This is the direction I was heading, obviously different manufactures use different key combinations to turn Wi-Fi on and off. Guess that's not the ticket, man that's a tough one...Maybe the card is toast?

Who knows.
Many years ago, I had to drive my wife's old Suby GL10 wagon with a busted clutch cable. Cold starts in 2nd gear at the lights, rev-matched shifting without a clutch. Fortunately, she was only about 10 miles from home and I only had to work a half dozen or so lights I just couldn't time.
If it matters the machine is a refurbished Compaq 8510.

8510P manual shows what looks like a touch sensitive switch just above the F4/F5 keys. Should be a little antenna ({!}) like icon there.
Touch-sensitive controls for HP Info Centre, HP QuickLook, wireless on/off, HP Presentation button, volume up, volume down,

Can't seem to find a specific hotkey listed. Which means there probably is one...
If you don't have the HP wireless assistant running in the task tray (lower right)
Click Start , Control Panel , and then double-click HP Wireless Assistant .
Figure 1: HP Wireless Assistant
http://h10010.www1.hp.com/ewfrf-JAVA/Doc/images/342/c01615743.gif
By default, the Status column shows that both of the wireless devices are either on (enabled) or off (disabled). Also, by default, the Action column does not display.
If you want to control one of the wireless devices individually, without affecting the other devices, click Properties , and then select the Independent controls for installed wireless devices option.

Lobo, feel down the sides of your laptop keyboard (surface is perpendicular to the desk), on the right side at the lower corner (opposite where the screen attaches) there may be a slider switch. Many of the laptops I've owned has had a wireless slider right there that will cut the wireless manually. If not that, then defer to what everyone else is talking about.

If an attendee of my meetings asked a question that didn't apply directly to the conversation, I would ask them to figure that out on their own time. the collective group in the room doesn't have time to waste with hemming, hawing, questions that don't matter, and folks that can't form a complete thought and put it into words.
Ask your question, get the answer, have the discussion if necessary, then get to the next topic/briefing point....
The elephant doesn't need to hear about where the electrical outlets are located. He certainly doesn't need to have two types of graphics for it, either.

There are the magical "Three Be's" of briefing an elephant:
Be Right
Be Brief
Be Gone
In that order... Some folks here have learned that the hard way. This is something I heard today:
Elephant: "I don't give a fat rat's rectum about anything other than a straight answer. I have questions, just answer the questions. I'm not asking for your opinions on it. Just answer my f*&%ing questions. Watch, it's not that hard: Hey Belly.."
Me: Here Sir.
Elephant: What date do we expect (insert important task here) to be complete?"
Me: 14 June, Sir.
Elephant: (to everyone else in the room) See? it's not hard. And Belly's a F*&%ing (insert my rank here, which is a lower rank than EVERYONE else in the room) !!! Why can't I just get a straight answer out of anyone else? Belly is the ONLY one to just give me the answer and the shut his gullet.
(insert awkward silence)
(Elephant gets up and leaves)
I am torn between that interaction. on one side, I feel pretty bad that other folks are getting torn up. I really don't wish ill will on anyone else. On the other hand, though.... I don't think anyone expected anything else, seeing as I've got only two things on the walls of my office: The Swanson Pyramid of Greatness and a little poster that says, "Trample the Weak, Hurdle the Dead"
A (guy who outranks me, but only a little) came up to me after the meeting and asked me why I made them look bad. I told them that THEY made themselves look bad. Learn your shit, Bro.

FWIW, It's a real tough rope to walk when there's clients involved. Particularly if one you have to work with says something completely false/wrong/stupid that adversely impacts something so egregiously that it requires immediate correction. Praise in public, correct in private doesn't always fit and sometimes we are simply not able to apply tact to the situation at hand.

Oh, and shooting steel with 208gr AMAX (subsonic .308) is fun!! It's even better when you knock the target off the stand. All the work guys are very quick to adjust things for me. they dont yet know im slightly into guns. It's kinda fun being the boss!

Yesterday I spent most of the day building a 5'x8' raised garden bed. Today I cleaned up the landscaping and finished up the drip system:

Howdy fellers.

I had a misunderstanding with the loan lady somehow......platinum credit and 29 years at the same job, still isn't as good as the $25,000 down money they want.
Probably won't be going anywhere until this place is under contract. FHA loan is only 3-1/2% down, so about 8 to $10,000....I can do that. I'm waiting on a call back from either the lender or the agent.
Oh well.

Have you signed a contract with any of the above mentioned? If not shop around.
Based on the housing market, IF you had the time, i'd suggest doing a FSBO sale. Puts an easy $5-8K in your pocket. if you do have a contract oh well.

Minute of hadji or homie?...that's some funny shit.
No contracts with anyone...but the dude has more time than me to find what the hell I'm interested in moving into. Of the homes he was gonna show me today!...two were already under contract. The current market is messed up for buyers if you don't have the ability to pounce on something immediately....on top of every mls that pops up in real time.

Thanks OBC. [Beer] I really take pride in my work and it's nice when I can finish a project without many major hiccups. It doesn't happen often.
