Foundations are subject to cracks, based upon the soil we have in CO. Furnace, get with your realtor, have them workout a deal with the seller. Tell them after closing you will reimburse 50% of furnace cost. Providing, the FHA signs off on repairs, AND You OK the work / cost, prior to replacing.

Didn't want to pay for a pump, so they wheel-barrowed in about 6 cubic yards of concrete from the front of the house. With 3 guys, they've been at it for 3 hours already and they are about 75% done.

You can see that the first wheel-barrels of concrete are starting to cure up already and they probably still have another 30 mins before they finish "the pour"

I heard it wasn't bad.....for slabs. But I can't confirm or have experience. We used diamond pattern metal mesh when doing cement stucco walls.

I'd be worried about the pour......I wonder what mud they got.

State Farm is his insurance company.

claim set up. USAA will be contacting the other insurance company for the money portion. I won't have to worry about that. I haven't gotten repairs or an estimate done. All of the places USAA has listed as 'preferred' vendors are of teh same company: Caliber Collision. I've never heard of them, but they aren't getting great google reviews. I'm worried about the repairs.

We're doing pretty well. Mrs. HB is quitting her job in a month to stay at home with HB Jr. It's going to be a significant cut to our household income, but it's the right choice. Turned the water on yesterday and had a leak in the kitchen faucet. Thankfully a friend has an rv storage and repair biz and had one in stock. Also needed a new electric heating element for the water heater.

Got started late yesterday replacing two dump valves. Had to loosen and shift the tanks to get them out. Ended up finishing in the dark.

Sore and missing skin from crawling around on the concrete.

Ouch. Luckily, the project is allowing us to wait until after she's due for the move, but they want me out there almost immediately after. In fact, on Tues they tried to get me to go down to Chile for an engineering run on the telescope for 5 days with our due date right in the middle. I was like "nope, not gonna happen". after an email later to explain, they all agreed. But we will be moving end of october, then I turn around and fly down to chile for about 10 days leaving my wife and 2mo old in a new city/house alone lol. Should be interesting.

Almost forgot, had our first run in with the ACA. Its ridiculous.

I got my new job, tried to add my wife to my insurance so we're on one plan and I can speak on her behalf etc. They denied it because she has a job and has access to healthcare. When we sign up for insurance, it becomes active the first day of the next month. She planned to quit her job 8/1 so she could have a month off to prepare for the baby etc, but now she's quitting on 7/15 because we have to allow time to process the paperwork so we can guarantee she's covered and has insurance. [Mad]

Bummer. I rode an Arabian (horse ;)) down in Texas a few years ago. Turns out it was a retired and distinguished long distance racehorse. Once we got up to a gallup, i was hanging on for dear life and it took me 1/4 mile to stop him.
