That's great idea HB. You have any other good ideas? I'm TERRIBLE at doing sweet things for my wife. I can use all the help I can get.
OBC, the run was pretty good. Shorter than I like, but a better pace than usual. Also, it was the longest I've done with the dog. She couldn't keep up after a while and I had to lift her into the car when we were done. Hell, it was only 2.3 miles.
Dude, women LOVE pictures. Go buy some cheap (decent looking) frames from Michaels or another craft store and get some pictures printed at target or something. 11x14 frame is <$20 and an 8x10 print from Target is like $1.20 or something.

Every once in a while, (especially good when the wife is away from home) buy a small bouquet of flowers from King Supers or Safeway (Safeway usually has much higher quality flowers for about the same price). Put the flowers in a vase somewhere where she'll see them right as she walks in the door. It might help if you do some of her usual chores too. I like to vacuum the house (it's easy and just takes a few minutes... and it's impossible to screw up) because she'll notice it right away.
I had one of Mrs. HB's friends give me the best tip of all: get on pintrest. There are pages full of ideas that girls sit around wishing for all day long.

Mine loves it when I (unbeknownst to her) take her towel and put it in the dryer on high when she gets in the shower, then bring it back and be there to wrap her in it when she gets out.
She doesn't take very long showers and they're irregular in length, so I have to sit as close as I can to the dryer while still being able to hear her turn off the water and then grab it and sprint.
I only do this once in a very blue moon, but she loves it when I do.
The closest I've done to that is heating up my dogs blanket in the dryer before bed.

MCanter, that's a good idea. We usually get into a fight about how she turns the whole house up to 80 degrees because she is cold. I tell her to actually dry off instead of standing around in a wet towell. She gets a heat fan instead. Haven't fought about that for a while. Winter is coming though.

I always flush all the toilets sequentially to give her a nice hot shower. She really likes that.
In return, she always makes sure the clothes washer, dishwasher, and toilets use all the cold water and pressure at once. She knows how much I like scalding showers. [Sarcasm2]

You can keep the towel warm longer if you put half under your armpit and the other end betwixxt your buttocks.

Worth a million bucks. My wife's favorite.
Also, when she takes a bath to "soak", throw a big pot of water on the stove and bring it to her to "warm" her bath. You might be surprised by the invite you get.
Just pay attention and listen when she doesn't expect you too. Notice a new outfit or fresh salon visit.

I'll spare with most, I got plenty to spare, but I don't spar with the young guys anymore.
Met up recently with very close old friend and sparring partner from 25 yrs ago and his son.
My friend is still in great shape and we slapped each other around a bit, he took it pretty easy on me and I still felt pretty good.
I then did something stupid and invited the kid (mid 20's) out on the mat. Intended to "show" him a trick or two to surprise his old man with. About two minutes later he had me bloodied and on the verge of puking.
My friend then informed me that kid was kind of a natural and much better than he had ever been. Wife had to help me out of bed the next morning.

The army forced the flu shot on us every year. I always felt like crap for a few days afterward. I don't plan on getting it ever again
My apologies for being late to last night, but I'll catch up pretty quick:
Uncle Sam forced me to get this one. The only ill effect I ever routinely get from the flu shot is that I have the green-apple-quick-steps for about three days afterwards. This time it just lasted the one day and all has been normal. I'm patiently waiting for the surprise , though.

We used to fight about that too. I'd get home from work and she'd be be sitting on the couch in sweats and a tank top with a her hair wrapped in a damp towel (almost an hour after her shower), with the thermostat set to 80. She didn't work at the time and I handle all the finances so she doesn't really have as good of a grasp on the cash flow and how things effect it as she thinks. I'd get mad and tell her to put on a damn hoodie and dry your hair, we run on propane and I wanted the tank to last through the winter, and she'd listen... then I'd come home to the same thing a week later.
One day nit even halfway through winter she called me at work and said the heater stopped working. I come home and of course the damn tank is empty, I go inside and the thermostat is set to like 82. So I put $350 in it and told her hope you learned your lesson cause I'm not filling it again this season. Low and behold she ran it dry again, and was miserable for a few weeks until I caved and bought a couple space heaters for nighttime (it was getting down to the 20s), and then she was a little less miserable.
Haven't had an argument about it since.

I have all but given up on my immediate family. My dad's so introverted that he can't talk to people (he's an engineer, so that's not helping), my mom's a nut job, my brother blames all his problems on my dad (because dad didn't really talk to us), my sister is a bit of a hippy who only ever calls when she needs money.

Get a small vase, clear glass. spray paint the inside black. Get a fake flower (choose her favorite flower). Get a small block of styrofoam, cut it to match the little vase, spray paint it black. Assemble it so that it all looks like one flower.
When you give her the flower, tell her that you'll love her until this flower wilts (explain that it's a fake flower and will never wilt, thus your love will never end)..........

So... Last night an old lady started her first fire of the season. A combination of a dead bird and buncha shit in her chimney led to her filling her little house with smoke. 1st engine on scene sees the amount of smoke and freaks. Calmer heads show up and ask the old gal whats going on. (1st crew neglected to do this) She tells them she lit a fire and so on. Turns out nothing more than some light smoke damage and a clogged chimney. (along with slightly toasted and mummified bird) Lesson of the day, sweep your chimneys people. Check them out at least once a year. Best time is late summer/ early fall right before burning season starts.

Have a nephew who prefers the gray bar hotel to honest work. 3 hots n a cot, medical, dental. Like a few others i know. They look at parole as vacation time. After the thrill of being out on the street and getting some female ass has worn off. They do something to revoke their parole and or add more time. Why, because they are unable to exist on the outside, where 24/7 structure, rules & regs don't exist.

Steel siding here. The idiot who was doing replacement said, you should really do some wood siding, it's a selling point when you sell your house. You offering to paint it every 3-5 years instead of this siding that's been here 20 years? That was the last day on the job for him.

DESPITE ALL THAT I JUST SAID ABOUT VIDEO REQUESTS..........
I have a couple of different types of brass catches. I can make a video about them pretty easily.
Here are descriptions of the different brass catches I use and why I use them:
1. the cotton handkerchief: it's quick, easy to transport, and very unobtrusive. I started using this when I was on a vacation and I didn't want to get seen when a big piece of shiny brass went flying across the sky.
2. the commercial bought one: This one I use on carbines at a range when I want to stand and shoot, BUT I don't want to be a jerk and have my brass hit the lane next to me.
3. the homemade net: This one I use to check ejection patterns on auto loading guns that I've change dsomething on, such as by adding a suppressor or changing buffer weights, or any number of other things. This one is a bit hill-billy looking, but it works!

Bug bombs are a couple bucks. Why the fuck do people choose to live in Shelobs layer?
The detached garage is the infamous T-lock. What you see on the porch is a modified bitumen. It is a 90lb asphalt shingle that is just rolled on. Mod bit is stronger than rolled roofing. Any slope that is 2/12 or less should have that type of roofing. The slope is so low that wind blown rain will be blown up under shingles. That's why you usually see porches with a different roofing material than the main house.

Good morning! Air Force is gonna beat Navy today! Woooooo!
I had roofers from Louisiana and Oklahoma stopping by once a week until we replaced the t-lock shingles on our roof.
Yeah, roofers drive around looking for them. I even had a claim the other day because the neighbor had T-lock. Now companies have changed their policy so there is no longer matching. Meaning, before, if you couldn't match, you'd replace the entire thing. So roofers would drive around and look for T-lock (not made anymore), go up to "inspect" for damage, pull off a single shingle, then have the home owner turn a claim in. Well now, it doesn't matter that you can't match, a single shingle will just be a repair. I've had to deal with that a bit already. As you can imagine, the roofers are less than pleased to find out about the changes.
Oh, LApolicegear.com is having a pretty good blowout on stuff right now.

Howdy Friends...:)
Look forward to seeing the vids, Belly !
We found out the other day what factory loads 9/40/and 45 do to 3/8ths acrylic sheeting from about 12-15 ft. away. I can look up what projectile and grain was if anyone gives a shit about that, but we found that shooting straight on at the sheet with 9mm, the bullet was stopped but with "near" penetration. 9mm from a slight angle (say 20 to 40 degrees) the round went through the acrylic AND blew a three inch chunk of material out as the round passed through. 9mm HP was less effective than round nose on this material. Testing with other calibers was all straight on to the material.
We added a second layer of acrylic sheet, and found that 40cal would penetrate through the first sheet, but only made an impression and cracks on the second sheet. 45 cal would not penetrate the first sheet at all, which surprised both of us. After I left, the kid added a third sheet of material and found that at 100 yds. .223 didn't even know the three sheets were there.
Unscientific, but might have been slightly interesting to some of ya.
Gonna go make some breakfasts for the week, and get some laundry and other necessary crapola done.
..and stuff.
Have a link the the material you are talking about?

Is everybody watching the Broncos game or what?
Now I can finally defeat the aquarium laser sharks muhwhahahaha!
Jk....what prompted your study? You armorizing the ambulance?

Um......no. Just 3/8 th acrylic sheeting. I could ask our parts guy to find the last replacement piece destroyed by a drunken bum.

Well, the kid bought a retired barf truck from the city. In the process of taking it apart for aluminum scrap value, the three pieces of sheeting that separated the compartments in the drunk tank on wheels were saved. Being the resourceful souls that we are, we decided to shoot at them and see what happened. Then, I reported on it.

Actually, many quickie marts/gas stations have used inch thick acrylic glass for a long time. Plasti-Craft that used to be down on Bayaud and Alameda had a sample of plastic that supposedly was riddled with 357 mag rounds at point blank range, and none had gotten through. We were just curious about how the 3/8th would do. It actually might be a little thicker than that, never put a micrometer on it.

What flavor is your trigger sauce?
It's an LMT two stage (from my MWS) with a set of Geissele G2S pins and springs. I think the next set of pins is going to be KNS.... It's a little pornstar~ish these days in the pin-to-hole-fit department
It's getto fabulous, but it works like a damn charm!
That gun is actually the one that I took to the armorer's course. That gun has been beat up and tossed around more times than Rihanna, Whitney, and Tina combined! It keeps right on truckin, though.

I don't know why certain folks on the internet seem to think that there's some magic sauce that comes with assembling your own AR. (I see the word 'build' a lot, and that bothers me. Unless you started with a chunk of raw metal, then you didn't build anything!!!) I love em. I've built maybe 2 every month since I've been here. Most of them have been for other people just wanting to say they've got a 'custom' AR. However, it's EXACTLY what they want. I sit down, discuss their intended use, and then WE come up with a parts list and they order it. When they show up to my house with all the parts, then they watch me assemble it. They pay me in the neighborhood of $20 or so to help them out with this. Sometimes they just give me a sincere 'Thank-You'. That's all that I would ask for. Anyways....
So, I see these videos where folks attempt to destroy a factory built gun. They use everything from rapid-firing 200 rounds all the way up to explosives. The guns just keep on ticking. If lower receiver 'X' is made of 7075 aluminum, then why would it be any more or less durable than ANY other lower that's made out of the same material? I look for what the raw materials are made out of rather than a roll mark on the side of the gun. I guess the real money is going towards the fit and finish.
That being said, I don't plan on ever purposely conducting a torture test on any of my guns. I've kinda tossed them semi-haphazardly into the back of the car, ran around on the range with them, used a couple in some classes, and I have yet to have a hiccup with any of them.
For what the average American would require out of an AR, you can build one and have a much deeper understanding of how they function, and hopefully a better appreciation for it's care and use.

I didn't have time today to look up the specs on the last replacement sheet we ordered, but I should have it this week I think.
I'm guessing it was something like plexiglas or lexan?
It *might* be plexi-glass, but not being an expert at the science of plastics....I think plexi and lexan marr and scratch too easily for the quicky mart scene, acrylic is much more durable in that respect. But, more brittle too, which might explain why I blew a couple of big chunks out on my angled shots.
Howdy Fellers.
Gotta hit the keys and patterns pretty hard tonight, guitar lesson tomorrow after work. It's nice to be getting back to my lessons finally, even if it's only every other week now. The almost 3 month hiatus away from them set me back a bit in where I was at that time. :(
It's slowly coming back though.. :)
