First peach of the season. Still partly green on the inside, but has a nice peach flavor! Perhaps we'll have another 40lbs of ripe peaches in a few weeks, like last year!

We don't have squirrels here. But the birds have already picked one of our apple trees clean, but the other one has been left untouched and those apples are close to the size of grapefruits. Last year, we lost most of our harvest due to aphids (our first year in the home and we didn't spray the trees with anything). This year, we sprayed but it didn't last long and seemed like I had to spray every week, but I only did about every 3-4wks. We'll see. At least the peach tree this year isn't showing signs of aphids, so thats good.

We've got 2 apple trees, one large peach tree (more like a bush though, its 10ft wide and 8-9ft tall) and one 25ft tall nectarine tree, that for some reason, isn't producing any fruit this year.

I think with cherry trees you need two of them, otherwise they can't cross-pollinate and produce fruit. We are interested in getting one, but there are quite a few cherry orchards not 10min up the hill and they produce EXCELLENT bing and rainier cherries. A brown paper lunch bag FULL of cherries (pick them yourself style) is only $6.

Yup, the peaches and nectarines were delicious last year! Though we only got about 8 nectarines that were edible, and not even 10 of the peaches (out of the 200 we picked) were edible due to the aphids. But fresh free fruit is always more delicious! Probably because you water it and stare at it for weeks until you can finally eat it.

So today I ran into this guy; I was talking to his mom about making bags for the SBR's I'm making. Anyway he said his girlfriend at the time set him up, she was sleeping with another guy. He said he was sitting at his apartment and this guy walked in, he heard the door and then he remembers being hit and laying on the ground. Said he had to have his face reconstructed. He was bashed in the face with a pair of brass knuckles, over and over; 68 pieces of titanium in his skull!

Call me paranoid; not that I deal with people like that, but It makes me feel sane when I hear stories like this; and justifies while I always have my gun with me. Even when i am sitting at home!

Here's the thing that irks me; There is no such thing as a strategic terrorist threat.

A real threat is against a specific target. It's at the tactical level. The idea that there is some kind of real threat based on actionable intelligence that impacts Embassies from Africa to Afghanistan is utter nonsense.

I'm not saying there aren't threats against these locations. I'm sure there are. But this idea that there is some kind of threat that spans almost the entire Islamic world stinks of political theater.

Mick-Boy

You will be invited to the virtual thread I create after the event... But don't worry, I'll make sure I give you guys my registry information. [LOL]

We couldn't even afford to invite my step-siblings. I have known my step-mom's daughter since around 2001, but she didn't invite me to her wedding so [goFyourself]. My step-dad's kids (5 of them) are all married with at least 2 kids each, so that's almost 20 extra people and I met them for the first time this past September at my Mom's wedding. Nearly all of our guests are family, with less than 10 I think that will be friends. Only because we have no friends. :(

Why don't you just do a mass pm to everyone. Save time and paper.
For our wedding 77BC (before computers) we called anyone we knew and said we're getting married at my S-I-L house date and time. if you can make it great, if not, thanks anyway.

i guess he wasn't expecting my skinny old white ass being capable of doing that. shit, i only have half the hand strength i had 20 years ago. it isn't that hard to pick up two 24's with one hand/arm for transport to the car either. hell, he thinks i'm gifted.

I need to expand my stable, and keep thinking I need to get another 26" MTB. I love my 29er but still get uncomfortable with the handling in the tight stuff.

But of course my 14 yo joined the CS Front Rangers this year so we dropped a small fortune on his road bike, which weighs close to 4# less than my roadie and makes me think it needs an upgrade.

But guns and ammo keeps getting purchased too... maybe I can score a second job at a bike shop or Bass Pro.

You've never heard of a flat sheen? We have textured walls, so the flat sheen hides the texture. While wet, it is very shiny and then dries to the flat sheen.

When we did our front bedroom, it was a dark blue, almost like a midnight. It went on the wall as a turquoise and we freaked out, then after it dried it darkened/dulled up and looks beautiful!

my wife was much the same way as bc's...regarding having "weapons in the same room"...for a long time. even though she used to hunt, years ago. it took a bit of conversation to allow a shotgun next to the bed...and to get her to be familiar with it and the safety...etc.

Haha, yea we were doing a semi-gloss (eggshell) paint for our other rooms, but it was just too shiny. Looked into it more, and you use a flat sheen to hide imperfections on the wall. The shinier the paint, the easier to clean and wipe down, BUT it also shows imperfections in the texture/wall-straightness/etc much more. So we switched to flat and it looks so much nicer!

We have read though that you want semi-gloss or shinier in the kitchen and bathrooms, but everywhere else you can use flat. It really adds some elegance to the walls! Like, right now I'm looking across my living room about 15ft at the new paint, and it is so dull I can't even tell that the wall is textured. But next to it where the old paint is still showing, I can tell its textured and it looks pretty uneven and bad.

Yea, I remember when I told her that I had guns, she totally freaked out that she was in the same house! Her dad was retired AF and he didn't even like guns from service, so she was never exposed to them. Then one day she asked to see them, and I pulled out my glock and my AR, she was interested/curious yet I could see the fear in her eyes. Once I started getting her more comfortable with them (by me CC'ing everywhere we went and especially on vacations), she wanted to hold one. Not long after that, she was at the range shooting more accurately than I could [LOL]

As you can tell, left side is wet paint and brighter, right side is dry paint, duller and flat.

I wrote an angry rant about the body shop that worked on my car to my insurance agent. She replies back that she's forwarding it to the shop. Great.

I just wanted to say that I'd suggest against sending customers to xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx in the future. I'm pretty dissatisfied with their service. The replacement front bumper does not align properly with the fenders on the car. When I went to have them take a look at it, they pointed out that the paint on the bumper has been scratched (I'm livid about that, by the way. But my own fault), so they refused to look at the bumper. I decided to investigate myself after getting home. I found that the car was not properly reassembled. The bolts holding down the driver side headlight were only finger tight, and I had to tighten them down. They reused damaged parts (including parts they billed Progressive for as new replacements) and forgot to replace some pieces.

The way the paint is damaged, I also suspect they did not include a flex agent in the paint, which means that as time goes on and pressure is put on the plastic bumper cover, that the paint will begin to spiderweb and crack as it is subjected to the stress.

I've included photos of the bumper fitment and the large chip in the paint for you to see. I also believe the hood is not properly aligned, but will have to take some measurements from an undamaged car first to compare.

That sucks about the car Ridge! When the drivers door on my xterra needed replacing (my own stupid fault), the shop that did the work did not align the hinges well so there is a much larger gap at the back of the front door than on the other side of the truck. Also, the drivers door sticks out near the jamb and its very obvious. Yours looks much worse than mine though. Hope Progressive resolves it for you!

Somewhat looks that way. In direct sunlight, it looks like a light tan (lighter than FDE with no hint of pink). In ambient light, it is a little on the pink side, and in darker light, it looks like a dark tan with a hint of purple I guess. Its in our living room, we really like the color. Here is a pic with the trim done and kind of in the shadows with no direct light. All of the colors that we tried (every single shade of tan from 3 different brands) all had a hint of pink to them in direct light.

32179

Okay, so it still looks slightly pink in this picture too, but its really not as pink as it looks. Oh well, you can sorta get the idea.

And jim, you wanna keep making fun of my pics?! Huh, do ya PUNK?!

Awesome! They look delicious! I was thinking about them so much that I was going to buy some tomatoes at the store, but they were all either rotten or looked like they had yellow pimples and I definitely wasn't going to eat those!

Oh man they were de-lish! Thanks for the idea :)

And I love me some tomato gravy. My mom's recipe browns a pound of bacon cut into small (1/4") pieces until crispy, then makes the tomato gravy with homemade canned tomatoes in the bacon grease.. All of served over buttered toast. My gravy was a bootleg without the bacon but damn, gravy over fried food is always a winner.
