Slight chance that I have to go in to work tomorrow though, the division is worried about riots and retarded shenanigans with either a Bronco loss or victory, they want all their cars on the street. DPD is loaded to the hilt with tear gas and all kinds of shit.

Right on, HB.
It's a very specialized field. One benefit would certainly be that I could basically move anywhere in the country and get a similar job, just based on the reputation and track record of being where I've been for that amount of time.
Just with the experience I have with graphics and application thereof, I can get a job anywhere installing vehicle graphics. It's an art to do it and have it be right and look good.

Expand on this.
Im experiencing some pretty severe ES from my loads. I've deduced it down into a few things, but mostly it's inconsistent case volume and neck tension.
I separate my brass by head stamp and then by weight. The theory here is that the same manufacturer is going to have similar build quality, as long as I keep it within the same lot. Sorting the brass by weight shows more than one thing: consistent build (hopefully) and consistent case volume (hopefully). Notice there are two 'hopefullys' in there. I don't deal well with that, as hope isn't a method. I 'solved' this by buying all new brass in the correct caliber, .260 Remington. It's easier than the work involved in preparing my current stash of .308, like I have been doing.
Also, the ancillary equipment. I have a couple different types of rear bags for different uses. I have a dedicated group shooting bag, a field bag, and I just ordered an elbow bag. Elbow bags are nice for things like firing side support when shooting in awkward positions. I also have a couple joints that don't want to work that well anymore, thus highlighting my need for different bags for different purposes.
I plan on using my fancy new cameras during the competition, so I need a mount to keep them attached to the gun and/or my head. Video documentation is awesome!

The ES is the difference between a hit and a miss at distance, but it doesn't show at 100.
only a chrono (or two) will tell the tale of whether or not I missed a target or if the ammo isn't consistent in some way.

Are you using a factory crimp? If not this will reduce velocity spread and give you the tension you need.
I like your sorting process. I'm assuming manufacturers are consistent in producing cases with uniform thickness. That seems reasonable if the cases are similar vintage. One thing to consider...If you are cold working the brass a lot during reforming to 260, you could be getting some residual stresses in the case that will result in non uniform neck tension. Have you tried annealing?
Anywho, new brass seems the best way to go for your match.
Looking forward to the camera footage if you decide to post it.

Yup, my bench top is super messy because I haven't done any reloading in quite a while. I processed some brass yesterday and it wasn't that bad, but I've got old ammo boxes everywhere (for storage of reloads). And I might just throw some away since they take up so much space and I don't use them really.

Im too new to get annealing right the first time. It's getting crunch time and I need to spend my time dry firing, not learning a new technique to get it right. I've got some rounds loaded with a factory crimp to calm the ES as a band aid. I'm headed to the range to try and figure it out.

I have about 20 empty Freedom Munitions boxes all over my bench that I use to sort .223 brass by head stamp for reloading. I have a lot of different head stamps and I don't know where they all came from... Either way, I have about 400 assorted cases that are ready for loading, but I need to agree on the load first, which means I need to go shoot some groups at the range.

Yes, it comes with two steel cutters. I have trimmed around a thousand cases so far and I'm still on the first cutter. They also make a carbide cutter as a replacement.

Yes, I trim 223 down for 300 blk. IIRC, the case trim length is about 1.360" and I get about a 0.003" total spread with that lyman trimmer.

Unless they stretch so much that they result in FTF etc., then no.
Another thing, if you get into precision shooting, then you'll want to trim for case uniformity. Otherwise, for plinking, you're g2g unless the rounds won't chamber. Seems like some folks just trim after the first firing, then you're okay for a couple more firings before trimming is needed.

They will stretch to the point that the case can ram into the rifling. You really need to measure the case after every firing and make sure they are within the dimensions of your specific chamber. It would be unsafe to let the cases get too long as pressure could spike to dangerous levels.

I understand the danger of high pressure due to cases being too long, but I am almost certain I read in my manuals that the case is perfectly formed into the chamber it is fired in, then it doesn't need resizing or trimming? I guess I'll have to go re-read that section. I'm still a total noob at the reloading game.

You are right in that the case will be formed to the chamber. However the case mouth expands forward every time you fire it since it's constrained at the back by the bolt. Since there is not much constraint where the bullet meets the lands, the case will want to stretch into this area as it expands. The cases continually stretch and thin with subsequent firings.

People seem to really like these. If you're just trimming one caliber, this may work better for you anyway.
those are some pretty compelling reviews. I might bite.

Too bad we aren't in our house in Hawaii. We could shoot the pellet rifle in our backyard.
Doesn't Hawaii have really awful gun laws?

Nice job, HC and friends.

Yes! Worse than cali probably. I had to get BG check, finger printed, and photo taken just to own a shotgun. Process took a few days, luckily I lived near the building.

So, one box of fried chicken, different chips and dips, I'm covered for tomorrow.
Corn chips and a mexican dip, and some ruffles with a tostido spinach dip. Gonna be some good snackin' here tomorrow, but I did eat several pieces of the chicken already.
I'm a sucker for fried chicken.

You can't eat just one!
