Problems?
Transmission is completely disconnected, except from the engine. It has basically rotated 90 degrees and is just hanging there. I think I just need to pry it off the engine some more. Once I do, it will just fall onto the ground. Even if I get it out, there is ZERO chance I can get it back in, unless I yank the whole engine, reassemble on the floor, and go back in the top. So right now I'm considering just unbolting the engine and whatever else I need to and lifting the unit out the top. It's either that, or the tow truck to the scraper.
On the bright side, usually when I do stuff like this, nothing goes well and I screw up a lot of stuff. Everything has gone mostly smooth until yesterday when I broke a radiator hose and dumped fluid. That and the transmission just kind of hanging around upside halfway to the floor.

This is by far the most I've ever disassembled a car though, and I'm pretty happy about that. I was excited to be able to get the axles out, as that has always been something I wanted to know how to do. Oh and that jack isn't supporting anything, just looks that way from the picture. Transmission is kind of resting up against the engine stand.
Okay transmission is out. That makes for 45% of the job. I'm going to take a hard look at everything before I open the clutch. I'll probably put the new clutch and release bearing in. If I take my time, I think I can get this thing back in, I just know it's going to be a pain. It doesn't help that everything is filthy and I'm in new territory. Finally, why the heck is the release cylinder inside the tranny? Is that normal?

Pulled clutch, it probably could have just stayed in there for how much longer this car has left in life. However, I've gotten the new one already, might as well learn to do it correctly (minus having the flywheel machined).
Get the $10 alignment tool for the clutch. Very good investment. Also, I'd replace the throw out bearing while you are in there, they are quite inexpensive as well.
The cylinder in the transmission is the reverse piston (hydraulic). Lets the reverse gear work.
P.S. if you get stuck give me a call. I've done quite a few clutch swaps in my day.
The clutch came with the alignment tool. I've got it on, just need to run over to the neighbor to get a reducer so I can use the torque wrench I borrowed. I'd invite you over, but I wouldn't put this nightmare on anyone. I don't think my garage will ever be clean again.

Utility bill worked in Colorado Springs Sportsman's warehouse 2 year ago for me. Any certified mail should work. Cable/internet billing paperwork might work. I'd recommend calling the shop and asking them what they will accept before driving out there. Hope this helps! [Beer]

BTW...the Denver Aquarium sucks. Waste of money, the Denver Zoo is much better.
I don't think the aquarium is that bad. Better if you don't eat at the restaurant though. Well, as long as you don't pay for it.

Okay, it wasn't horrible, but many of the signs at the exhibits denoted animals that were not in the exhibits. Looked like the place was getting run down, and not taken care of very well... we saw many fish that looked sick, and for the entry price of $18 per adult, I would expect a little bit more than what they were offering to see.

Don't know. One of the rules of the boat. No eels and no sharks on the boat(nothing with big teeth. Crewman cut line before I could swing it over the rail and on to the deck.

My high school Junior prom was at the aquarium when it first opened. They already declared Chapter 11 bankruptcy a few years ago. I guess it was a big deal that they even stayed open.

I sure hope there are some real storms.. Everyone here is gettin soft.
I can deal with it all just fine, but I certainly prefer summer over winter. :)
Besides, most winters here have plenty of 50* or warmer days where you can go to the range in a T-shirt and jeans.

I just got a bison roast in the slow cooker. Seasoned and seared in a hot pan, then into the cooker on the onions carrots and potatoes. Chicken broth into the sear pan to soak up the flavor then on top the roast. Already smelling good!
And....the kiddo is awake. Now to start my day.

While all this talk about Cabellas was going on, I was at Sportsmans looking for powder. Last week I checked Cabellas and they were even lower than Sportsmans. I was at the South Cabellas yesterday and they had like 23lbs of some rifle powder, but I guess it was over priced.

I'm sure it's a good deal for someone. However when my powder ran an average of $20 per OTD, anything over $22-25 is too high. If you could buy 8 1lb containers, one use to pay $145-162 per keg would run you $240 +tax [facepalm]

That was the Cabellas at the South end of town. At Sportsmans this morning, I grabbed a Lyman 49th edition reloading manual off the shelf and compared it to what they had in stock. None were pistol powders, so I put the book back and left. Sorry I don't remember the other powders, as I'm completely unfamiliar with rifle stuff. Just looks like numbers to me. I do remember two of them were labeled as being for 50 BMG.
