I used to help peel the factory plastic off of brand new cars when I was a lot tech, does that count? What's that called again, PDI? Pre-delivery Inspection? Something like that.

Heat guns are okay, but the cords and the time wasted messing with them sucks. Use a butane torch instead. 3M adhesive remover is one of the best products on the planet.

The best way to make sure you have all the glue off the paint, is to rub your open palm on the ground/floor and then gently rub your hand on the area you removed product from.

If you missed adhesive, you will find very quickly using this method.

A more advanced way to remove adhesive remains is to have a standard razor blade appropriately dulled. Each razor blade that you unwrap the little cardboard thing from, has two sides. One that grabs and catches on everything, and one that doesn't. Determine which side doesn't, and rub it back and forth on some scrap steel at slightly different angels in a circular motion for at least 30 minutes. It really sucks when ya break a seasoned blade and have to make a new one.

The blade I use for glue removal could be pushed down the hood of a car in the dealership showroom, and it won't leave a scratch.

I'm using my monokote heat gun because I dont want to burn through it and Chevy paint jobs blow! Its not too bad when its above 30? out, today helped a lot. Only have the passenger side left then I have to go back and get rid on the adhesive spots which are all grey on a white van so that make it easy to spot. Between the vinyl off and the adhesive remover it's been easy but still a PIA.

Brother I love you (no homo) and that's a badass offer but I'm doing this just to earn a little cash and save the company (startup) some cash. Couldn't throw down the 1-1.k for it to be "professionally" removed. It's real steel, with radiator and grill, fairly straight original Az vehicle.

The issue is i'm think, do i buy or keep $$ for shop and related items. Not should i buy and try flipping to a CO resident. Because i know for what it is, it's an easy $7k ride (as is ) up there.

Purchasing old vehicles for restoration really is a tricky proposition. There's a lot involved with value/potential/expense/time/money/assets....and what level do you want the car to be when it's finished?

I've been trying to do that with the truck. It's taken several years with lots of life interruption and it's still not done yet....and I do have access to all the stuff I mentioned.

Restorations can be incredibly hard and very expensive it you want to put it back to stock. There is no difference if you want to upgrade them and make them more "modern" with the drivetrain and systems available in more recent year models, and keep the old look at the same time. A lot is involved, lots of fabricating is necessary.

Howdy....my puter was inadvertently thrown into update when someone clicked yes on the prompt....it was done for the night.

I had to go kill the auto Win10 updates. last time, even prior to a reboot, it killed all my browser's access. I fucked with it on and off for a day or two and finally said F it.

I had to uninstall a bunch of fixes cause it keeps fukn disabling my system restore and deleting the restore points (they claim it's necessary.)

Had that not worked, i was probably looking at a recover/repair (hopefully). Thankfully I have recovery USB drives for all the puters.

They've been trunked for a long while now, but yes, encryption starts in a couple of weeks. Sucks, but oh well. There's a guy I work with on scanners and I spoke with him the other day...I'm gonna get a new Uniden (I think it's the SDS100) but he programs them in a cool way to separate the different agencies and enables lock outs for shit you don't want to hear. If I gave the right model number, I can take that scanner anywhere in the country an lock in on stuff with a zip code, it's all loaded into the device already. It's pretty cool.

I don't think I can swing the guys at (@&$%) to give me an assigned pass code to a $2K portable. I'll ask 'em though...:)

There are a few websites that offer listening to that kind of traffic. That also depends on your connectivity level wherever you're at. If you have an actual radio, I don't see that being an issue.
