I make those every once & a while. When i forgot to let some bread sit out overnight for freedom toast the next morning. Or i've had eggs in some form the day before. So that's a combo of both in a convenient package .

I do mix in a little green chili olive oil with the butter for that slight kick to open the eyes.

I've gotten to the point I can hardly eat a fried egg anymore without resting it atop a warm corn tortilla and smothering it with Green and some cheese.

GF and I got into a somewhat spirited discussion regarding corporate mentality vs. real world blue collar reality. Good thing we like each other, but she couldn't take it.

Her "Eff you" was overpowering her ability to spew conformist/assimilation....and my "Eff you" about fixing problems and getting a job done without bullshit feelgood meetings and horseshit policies, think tank sessions, reviews, study groups, etc,etc were falling on deaf ears.

Great fun.

It's one thing to operate as a functional business contractually with corp/gov entity, entirely another to be absorbed by one and assimilate to retardism without questioning it.

Yeah, I'm a rebel.

It's an entirely different deal if I sign on knowing ahead of time that it's retarded corp/gov idiocy. Don't roll in on something that has worked forever and bring up how it can be done better. We already figured that shit out, man.

first gopher snake of the year. This one was 7' based on it slithering past the garage and spacing on the siding.

I know they're great deterrents against rattlers. What i don't understand is..........They're called Gopher snakes. One would "think" they'd be dealing with the gopher population, that seems to have crossed the fence line w/out any documentation.

Son of a bitch.

Making a night round of security.....Saw that effin coon w/a baby. Ended up between two more baby coons on my side of the fence, and coon mama/baby drama developed. So I watch all four of them go back down the sewer drain, and mama is still peering up at me. Yet another two were up in a tree near the drain.

I don't know if calling the city would do any good or not, but this neighborhood doesn't need six coons digging everyones trash up and getting into stuff. I doubt they'd relocate them and destroy instead. I can do that.

Anyone have some thoughts on this situation?

Followed by mass dumps in to the area after people realize skunks are burrowers. Who can tear through cove base and a wall in minutes.

Most animal control will not deal with wildlife. Division of wildlife will if it?s a threat such as a bear running around a neighborhood it shouldn?t be in.

With the coons, got to call a private company to deal with them.

At one time places were selling descented pet skunks. They had their scent glands removed. Guy i drank with, his sister had one, cause they're so cute. That lasted maybe 3-4 days before it tore up the walls and base molding, quicker than a renting meth lab family.

Anyway, it's time for my annual fishing trip. Where I get all excited to go fishing, hastily dust off my gear, show up at some arbitrarily chosen body of water without even knowing what in it, or how to catch it even if I did. Then I spend a few hours bumble fucking around on the shore or in my cheap kayak with zero success before I remember that another year has passed without me learning how to fish. Yay!

Only now, my daughter is old enough to actually want to go with me. We're going to Grand Lake or Shadow Mountain Reservoir because I don't think the trail to Fall River Reservoir, Chinn's Lake, or Loch Lommand are clear of snow yet. Also, I want to trailer my kayaks up there and don't want to try if there's going to be snow.

I suspect with all the wear & tear on my rifle I was starting to get inconsistent results & it was impeding my attempt to fine tune my skills. Chasing my tail actually, so... Ive been through my rifle twice over in as many weeks to be sure everything is properly torqued, aligned & fitted etc. Tonight I just wanted to sort functionality & optic tracking on a sled. Zero seemed to go well @ 50yds & my handheld sling supported groups @ 100yd were on target & sub moa with the (new to me) Hornady 55gr.

Will see how it goes when I confirm zero @ 200 & then shoot 6" round steel @ 300. If that goes well I might be ordering more Hornady. If that then proves to be my rifles preference for factory match ammo then I'll be good to go for further training.

Fingers crossed.

Im honestly trying NOT to get into reloading. I already have a full time hobby. IF I decide to seriously go bigger & long range then yeah I've already assumed it'll be an ancillary deal.

Ive still got a lot of periphery on my list, a few more firearms & some specialized classes before even entertaining a go in that direction.

I think my best time of the day, on one stage with a pistol was 2.56 seconds.

Tee hee

ChickNorris
06-22-2019, 10:07
& 3.19 was my best time with a rifle. Surprised myself, apparently I can shoot kind of a little sort of maybe, fast. Unfortunately I had feed issues so even with my worst sets removed from the scoring, my overall times are probably not as reflective of what I can do when it's hassle free. Makes it hard to gauge improvements in technique. Thats ok though

I did have fun in part because I had never shot a competition with a pistol (so it was novel) & because the pistol I used was a very, very, very nice pistol. Thank you (you know who)

Speaking of amazing shooters, I also met & shot with LimitedGM yesterday. He was an excellent person to observe (super nice guy too) as well as everyone on my squad. Very good day.

Erni, speaking of gear, another thing of note, I have a scope on my rifle & its not a true 1 power so it DOES actually take me a little longer to shoot those targets @ that distance, by a full second sometimes even two depending on the stage. I used another persons dot rifle to do a comparison.

Did LimitedGM get you signed up for the state Glock match coming up in July? There are lots of prizes for that, and even categories for women, and LEO and what not. It's not as fun as what you've been doing (zero run and gun) but it's a good experience. It really gets you to work on your waiting between stages skills. For as huge as that event is, it's very well run.

I would do that, but I'm probably too fat for that thing.

ChickNorris
06-22-2019, 22:44
Also, I have no idea what was up with all the rabbits just after the lake formed. They were belly deep in the water, hopping & splashing in a extra long conga line. They'd hop one behind the other in serpentine patterns with long pauses where the lead rabbit would freeze & each subsequent rabbit would hop once more & do the same. Some of these rabbit lines had 10 participants.

Very strange bunnies.

I tell you one thing about using that lift today. I haven't had so much fun since I got jumped in that parking garage in Denver and had my teeth kicked out!

ChickNorris
06-22-2019, 23:19
I watched the rabbits perform for nearly 10 minutes when I was on the far side of the lake. By the time I'd gone back to my truck to get my phone & then returned (I was going to take video) they had stopped. I waited for 20 additional minutes hoping they'd do it again if I didn't distrupt & nothing happened so I left.

Weird bunnies.

Not bad. Monsoon season started last week, nary a drop of rain. So to get the tap running, we're washing all 4 vehicles, tomorrow. Shouldn't stop raining till labor day.

Trying to get my mower repair and blade sharpening gig up and running.

But with no rain to get those weeds and sparse grass going, hard to get customers. Yet 2 - 3 days of rain later the same people will be wondering why i'm 2 days out for repairs.

Oh well, in the meantime i'll be making a scrap metal rack.

Small engine maintenance is the next thing I need to learn. I have that two-man post hole digger, but my cousin didn't winterize it and now I can't get it to run. Well, to be accurate it ran for a bit, and I sprayed some carb cleaner in the intake and then it ran like it was brand new. And then it never started again, and I injured both shoulders trying to pull start it (still sore and it's been since mid April).

Sooooo, I need to figure out how to fix that, not because I need to use it, but because I need to know.

Well the gront breaks in the suburban are done. Over 100k on the original ones, not bad. The inside surface of the rotors was rusted half way do that explains some of the funky sounds. Was not even down to the wear indicators yet. Ine cslipet pin boot delaminated but the inside was not really rusty. Good for another 100k.
Now to do the front steering.

First i wire wheel all the crap off the blade so all you're working with is the blade itself. I freehand grind with an angle grinder and blade in vise. Then check balance with this, till it's even.
https://www.amazon.com/Oregon-42-047-Precision-Blade-Balancer/dp/B0018U47KU/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=lawn+mower+blade+balancer&qid=1561328294&s=gateway&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1

Then clean up any rough spots with a large crosscut flat file.

I find the key to small engine maintenance is to:

* Locate a YouTube video with poor lighting (extra points if shaky cell phone footage) where the narrator gabs for 10 minutes about nothing before starting the work
* Cuts out important steps' visuals while just talking about them
* After providing no value, then asks the viewer to subscribe

These are inspiring enough for me to either just dive in and figure it out or actually find a manual.

I shot my first Texas star today.

Not as difficult as I thought it would be though. I would like a go at it more than once or twice to see additional variation & best methods to time shots & clear. First time took 7 ( or 8?) & the second time it took 9 because I wanted to see if I could time my shot with the swing up instead of down...took a couple attempts before I got the timing correct & then I cleared it, pew pew pew. Super fun.

Small engine carbs and lines get gummed up with varnish if not treated or drained. Ethanol is really bad on the small engine parts too. Using starting fluid and carb cleaner as a starting fluid isn't good for them as it leans out the fuel mixture too much and you risk galling the piston/rings/bore.

Sometimes a little seafoam in the fuel mixture (careful with 2-strokes, it leans out the fuel) can get you going but it's best to get a fuel line kit and replace all the lines and clean the carb well.

Another quick fix if it has a float bowl on the carb is to remove the bowl and clean it out and put in fresh fuel. That will sometimes get it running.

Silver Maples tend to rot out inside the trunk once they hit 70 + years but they make excellent street/shade trees & arent nearly as dirty as elms. I believe the largest circumference trunk in Denver is a Silver Maple but its been a few years since I checked the record.

Is that a Silver Maple Irving?

I confirmed that I met two other members from here yesterday. I enjoy putting faces to names. Might be a third that if he's available ever, Id lovelovelove to train with.

So I mentioned it to him & he seemed amiable to the idea. Maybe I'll finally get to take a few private lessons this summer instead of going to 'camp'. Prefer it that way too.

I do know it's hard to make time to teach just one person & really is more of a favor to me than anything. I love shooting & its all I want to do, but technically I'm just a hobbyist so understandably not a priority.

If wishes were horses we'd all be eating steak.

Part of why I love going to matches.

Only 15 -20 bucks & I get a custom training course, help setting up & breaking down, the facility @ which to use it & then I get shown firsthand different methods to approach all the various situations by nice & skilled people. Plus I get to see everyone's gear, in use. Freakin bargain & I dont understand why some folks don't view it that way.

Yes. I don't think you're on Instagram, but his Insta posts make you want to go out and train.

I think many people are self conscious and feel like everyone will be watching and judging them when they aren't great, forgetting that everyone started somewhere. Plus matches can be intimidating and while you'd think that "gun people" would be tough and less easy to intimidate, that's not the case.

The Hornady seemed to work out well. It was a bit breezy yesterday, was enough that if it wasnt moving your round, it was still likely moving you.

... so unfortunately I can't confirm if my rifle/ammo/zero was dialed in as much as I'd hoped. I think I'm going to use Hornady again for next months match too.

You're either in the "new shooter who is way over thinking everything" stage, or the "serious long distance shooter who measures every variable" stage and I don't shoot enough rifle to tell which.

If you're shooting a Texas Star at 100 yards in under 10 shots then chances are good that you're stuff is dialed in just fine.

ChickNorris
06-24-2019, 11:27
I dislike being watched & am self conscious sometimes too & it doesnt matter because I would rather be better. Why I started recording my match stages here & there. I have some from yesterday & still waiting to get the rimfire match vids from Friday. I can't wait to see those!

Though I'm not sure I'm comfortable posting my video here, but not for the reasons you might first think.

I think i could have shot the star with most any 55 grain yesterday. Because there was an opening in the afternoon match, i shot them both. The second time was with the nasty Magtech batch I have left over that my rifle was NOT zeroed for. It didnt really matter until the 300yd stage; @300 it mattered.

& I think I over think anyway. Also ordered my first data book so I can transcribe all my notes & have a standard to move forward with. @ a friend's suggestion, I made sure to get the one that can get wet too.

I forget sometimes that precision is less important than accuracy for much of the matches I'm doing right now. My current rifle's configuration is about as good as it gets for what it needs to be & I should be happy with its capability.

Still, the difference in quality of ammo & the need to zero for it was blatantly obvious once demonstrated with a bit of distance.

Try and keep it short as I don?t read long post.

Hitting target every time vs hitting bullseye every time.

ray1970
06-24-2019, 12:24
I like to think I?m about 95% on target most of the time but maybe about 40% of those shots actually go where I want them to.

Does that mean I?m pretty accurate but not very precise?

What you posted is the first step in starting to reload. While (when i shoot) i'm good with factory ammo. Having the capability to dial the load for that gun really makes a difference.

You'd think so, but the commuter car was not wantimg to start this morning. Based on 5 min of research its probably fuel pressure reg. Of course its located on fuel pump, in tank.
